Listing the bars of Pattaya
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a
rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go
and see for yourself.

No crocodile there now. Big tank at back was full of fish.
'Lots of scrap metal sculptures for sale, all very good, including

Review from
Pattaya Today: Night March,
Mar 2009: Croc
Armageddon has a dart board and pool table out the back, a giant TV
screen, assorted tables and chairs and bar stools, and a number of quite
attractive and reasonably friendly girls. Just like 500 other joints in
Fun Town I hear you say. Correct. But then there is Marty, the theme
attraction. Marty is a medium-length freshwater crocodile thankfully
confined to a tank.
Drinks in Armageddon are reasonably priced and this is one beer boozer
that can at least lay claim to something a little different.

Review from
pattayagogoguide.com June 2009: On the
Up
The popular mamasang Sandy aka Nong (aka little lady with loud voice)
has started back at Buffalo Bar, so the standard of girls will be going
up again. She has been away for 7 months and it shows in the bar.
They even have a proper plastic Thai recruitment banner outside. Even
the famous Chicken (Gai) is back, but sadly only as an early shift
cashier.
They have recently renovated the ST rooms, with new beds, aircon and
hot water.
[Later reports that the bar now has about 50 girls many of them
lookers]
Review from Pattaya Talk
Dec 2008: Barely Worth a Visit
I have always liked the Buffalo Bar...but it is now only barely worth
a visit.
But still a good drink value only 75 baht for drinks during peak hours.
There seem to be three types of ladies at the Buffalo Bar now,
over-the-hill, brats, and nasty-looking.
Many ladies seem too old to be working there, over 40 years, and it
is kind of annoying having to waive so many of them off.
The 21ish go-go dancers seem to have a Las Vegas style arrogance.
I also saw 4 or 5, heavily tattooed ladies that looked nasty.
In all, not the nice ladies that used to be there.
New Dec 2008: Refit
The notable Buffalo Bar on 3rd Road is nearing the end of phased
improvements and is now refitting its short time rooms. Previously they
had been condemned by customers if not Pattaya council hotel inspectors.
News from Pattaya Secrets
Nov 2008: Renovation
In the past weeks, they have put up full height mirrors on the
remaining walls, hung international flags over the bar, wooden pailing
(fence) on the outside hedge walls onto Soi Vinai and tonight put up a
Gogo type spinning light ball on the ceiling.
During the "Closure" period they were working hard in the bar to
finish off the upgrades. In the bar they have repaired seats and
replaced the seat cushions, changed the Podiums again with colourful
lighted bases.
Next they will upgrade the upstairs slum rooms.
Review, thanks to PGGG, Jan 2008: Prices
Lady drinks are 75 Baht. Barfines are 400 Baht for hostesses and 500
Baht for coyotee dancers with an additional 75 Baht if no lady drinks
has been bought.
I hear the Coyotes are 800 Baht up until 10pm, as no dancers mean the
customers don't stay in the bar as long, which is a fair view by the
management to protect their beer sales.
Receptionists BF is 600 Baht IF THEY GO OUT, which most do not!
The girls rates are more gogo than beer bar.
Note that there are convenient ST rooms and the price is included in the
ST barfine (which is rarely mentioned, as they want to hit you for the
LT rate and have the evening off. It also helps them meet their "Off"
target). If you pay the ST rate the girl has to return to the bar when
you are done.

Carré Blanc Le Club
Private club. Previously Stupid Cupid & Pantry Bar
Review by Xitroen, July 2010: A
Friendly Warning
But some three weeks ago the sign changed and it became Le Carré
Blanc, The White Square in English. I knew nothing about this
bar at the time, but later I spotted it in a free French newspaper. I
learned from an advertisement that it is a French bar and a private
club. And in Pattaya, private club means unbridled sex... And
that is what you seek, is it not, my fellow perverts?
For
English speakers who do not know France, the white square is a
French institution that no longer exists but remains in the collective
memory of many men approaching their fifties. The white square
was introduced on French television in March 1961, shortly after the
airing of the film The Execution, by Maurice Cazeneuve.
The film featured a few seconds of a female nude. Shame! And to see a
nipple under De Gaulle was taboo! No joke!...
Which means that, today, only the French understand the meaning of
the name of this club ... The name is not entirely original though as
some bars and discos also use the name in France.
So
last night I went there at 23h. On entering all the girls turned to me
and purred hello and welcome, almost like a choir singing...
hardly discreet... But I loved it!
Maybe a little curious though as it is not often that Pattaya
customers are so well received and with such warmth! The place is
relatively small, with a cozy atmosphere. On entering, you see the bar,
it is square (but not white!). Towards the back left are large
comfortable black sofas with small glass tables and screens to hide a
little of what's happening there in the name of discretion.
In front of the bar are some small round tables. Everything is simple
and clean. The atmosphere is provided by dimmed lights which are very
relaxing on the eyes. Good music (sometimes French) and not too loud to
talk without having to scream, unlike some other places ...
The principle of the Le Carré Blanc is simple: you can do
anything you want with whom you want, where you want and however you
want.
Before
I left I visited the rooms that are well kept and clean, nothing more to
say there.
I paid 300 baht for the Barfine, 500 to the girl and for the
drinks, everything is very reasonable and honest. Here they do not fuck
the customer, just the opposite ...
News from HJ, June 2010: Fun in the
Club
According to the sign and
a notice on the bar door said that it was open from 1pm to midnight
but the door was locked and curtained. There was also a notice on
the door to say it was a private club.
At another nearby Bar I was informed that it had changed hands
and that the new managers were French and had been running the
Telephone Bar.
Many people were complaining about the beer prices and the lady
drinks at 150bt each but that none of the ladies wore underwear and
they would strip off for fun in the Bar if the customer paid the
300bt Bar fine.
It would appear that most of the customers are French and the
ladies older ones from the Telephone Bar.

Nightlife Roundup
Review
2006: First Fetish
Fun Town's first fetish establishment, called
The Castle, opened its rather imposing heavy door for business in late
December 2003. It specifically caters for those whose tastes in fashion
run to whips, chains, PVC, latex, and leather.
The place was opened by the same French management
who operate a similarly-named fetish joint in Bangkok. The gear, which
also includes nurse and schoolgirl uniforms is being supplied by Pattaya's
premier fashion house Boutique Sexy (their showroom is in Naklua Soi 33).
In order to get punters in the right sado-masochistic
mood, the first drink in the place will set you back 900 baht. All drinks
after that are just a trifling 200 baht. The management stress this is not
a drinking bar; it is a place for like-minded people to come and indulge
in their favourite fantasy. To really keep the screws turning, there is
definitely no copulation on the premises, no matter how excited you might
get over the sight of a couple of latex-clad damsels beating each other
with an overripe cucumber. If you want to engage in something un-natural
like sexual intercourse then fork out the 1,500 baht bar fine and take
your leather feather duster and your lady back to your place.
The Castle has a dress code of which the colour
black is one of the necessary component parts. It opens at 5:30PM and
closes at 2:00AM and at present has a staff of around 14 dominatrixes/submissives
who have been trained by an Englishman. A lady drink is a suitably
humiliating 250 baht, but the
bar has a strict policy dissuading damsels from asking for a libation. The
choice is completely up to the customer.

Club BLU

Club BLU
Stylish coyote dancing bar opened 1st February 2008.
Review March 2009: The Lonely
Man Blu's
I have walked past many times and it is half tempting to
have a look just because the bar is so well presented. It is also half
tempting to have a look because there are always a few attractive girls
milling round the entrance.
The coyote dancers are split in two teams, one teams
dances whilst the other has a break.
The other attraction is that for a 'stylish' bar,
the drinks prices are very reasonable.
When it comes to entertainment, you really have to bring
your own. There were several clusters of people enjoying a chat amongst
themselves but there is not much entertainment on offer for the single
visitors.
The girls dance no more energetically than a decent gogo
and of course are well overdressed to boot.
The girls didn't seem at all interested in any
hostessing or chatting to customers (save for a Japanese guy who popped
in).
It seems pretty much the same for all coyote bars. They
attract the girls who don't really want to do the naughty stuff like in
the gogos. The coyote bars generally pay well for the dancing talent and
so the girls are therefore happy enough without needing to put out for
tips and the like.
Review from
Pattaya Secrets,
Dec 2008: No Go
The bar seems to be getting a reputation for dancing girls that
don't barfine. If that is your intention, perhaps best to ask before
investing in lady drinks. Plenty still do go though.
Review from Materialsman, Nov 2008:
A Warm Sort of Blue
I know this bar
has been open for quite a few months now and has been well received by
the public, so well received in fact that allegedly the original owners
sold out recently for an astronomical figure of baht, but this was my
first opportunity to visit the bar. First impressions? Very impressive
actually, the décor works very well, the blue light in principle would
appear quite harsh, but in fact it’s a warm sort of blue light that
really enhances the place. I think that if I was a wealthy in the Hugh
Heffner style, I would definitely have one of the rooms in my mansion modeled after this club, and constantly stocked with pretty girls! I
wasn’t too sure about the spiral steel staircase by the door mind,
seemed a little rickety for my liking, I suppose that the ‘resting
rooms’ are up there, as opposed to the ‘rest rooms’ which are downstairs
on floor level, but I wouldn’t fancy traversing those stairs if I was a
little bit worse for wear, or physically drained after ‘resting’.
As for the quality of the women, well of course that is always a
purely personal viewpoint, one man’s stunner is another mans woofer,
there were around 25 ‘ladeez’ present, and I would say that there were a
few 9’s amongst them, mostly 7’s or 8’s though, I heard that when it
first opened the line up was far more impressive, but as in any similar
business in Pattaya, it’s hard to keep your best girls for any long
period due to sponsorship, marriage, better offers from other bars etc.
Miss ‘M’ was quite a package mind you; I enjoyed her little turn on the
podium just inches away from me. I equally enjoyed my time in the bar
immensely, the drinks were very reasonable at 70 baht a bottle, the
atmosphere was friendly, the clientele were well turned out and smart,
and the Tequila Shot girl was to die for, those black 4” stiletto heeled
boots coupled with the Stetson hat and skimpy denim shorts, think Daisy
Duke and you would be close, was my abiding memory of the place, and she
well deserved my first and only 100 baht tip of the night, I shall be
back! If I had to make a comparison to the Honey Pot which I thoroughly
enjoyed last week, I would say that if you combined the two places, with
the décor of Club Blu and the current line up of the Honey Pot, you
would have a license to print money, which in actual fact was pretty
much what Club Blu was earlier this year.
News July 2008: Expensive Bar
Fines
The bar fines for dancers have been raised to 650 Baht. 400 for
hostesses.
Lady Drink Blog, April 2008:
Looking In
I strolled past Club BLU and the lighting is very effective. One's
eyes are drawn towards the coyote dancers and the near perfect view of
the rest of the bar.
It must be the most un-private bar in all of Pattaya. Sure there are
lots of open bars, but this one positively grabs the attention and
simple makes one peer inside.
There are advantages and disadvantages to an open bar. If the bar is
popular and has plenty of pretty girls then surely the owners want to
show it off.
As it was with Club Blu I walked on by, there were plenty of pretty
girls dancing but most of the customers were sitting on their lonesome.
It made for a cold looking atmosphere. Now if there had been a private
area I my have come to the conclusion (right or wrong) that that is
where the action is and popped in to see for myself.

Review from Pattaya Chat, Feb 2007: Value
I know it is not the classiest joint you can find, and
his TV adverts probably put off as many people as they attract, but it
was actually rather good and incredible value. He does an English
breakfast at 60baht and one he charmingly calls the 'Fat Bastard' at
100baht. I had the Fat Bastard and it was very good. It came with tea
and toast and butter and had everything: bacon, 2 sausages, 2 eggs,
black pudding, fried bread, mushrooms, beans etc the lot. Incredible
value at 100 baht. And quick service as well.
Looking at his prices Crazy Dave's must be one of the best value places
in Pattaya. Certainly, worth a trip up the soi if you fancy farang food
in the middle of the night.
Oh yes, 'Only Fools and Horses' was on the big screen TV whilst I was

Review May 2009: Devilish
The
bar now offers a booking service both for in-call and out-call
The bar specialises in multiple partners and multiple
orifices. it is well worthwhile checking out their website for further
details.
Traditionally the fun is with two girls guaranteeing a full 90 mins.
They are equipped with toys and visual aids etc. The in-call all in
price is 3600 Baht. Of course other combinations of number of girls and
time are available.
The girls have regular medical checks and the results are posted on
the website.
Something of a unique feature of Pattaya that the owners suggest
everyone should try once in their life. Plenty of forum posters seem to
agree.

On my visit, the bar was operating the stupid policy of the prettiest
girls work on the door to get people in. But once you are in, they
abandon you to the oldies inside.
I smiled and beckoned to a pretty girl and she followed me in, once
she had taken my order she shot back outside. There was nothing to do in
the bar aside from admire the two oldies or else have a lonesome drink.
Saying that, there were a few guys having a good old banter amongst
themselves. So I put it down as a bar for a friendly chat with fellow
farangs rather than a girly type bar.

Review from Pattaya Addicts,
Aug 2008: Enjoy
Open air, Beer Bar or Pub style bar located on Soi Diana across from
the Acrea Lodge.
I really enjoy this Bar. It’s a great way to finish the night. The bar
girls are not stunners by some your standards, but some are really cute
to be sure and eager to be bar fined (300 baht). The girls are quick to
give you a new drink and don’t bother you if your not looking for
company, but are quick and happy to provide some if you want,
After 21:00, the house band starts to play and they really know how to
rock and have a good time.
Beer is cheap, Bottles of Heineken, 75 baht after happy hour.

News June 2010: Dark

Review February 2010: Still
Coyote
I had read that Hottie's Club were trying a re-branding as an
A-GoGo but I didn't spot much evidence of this beyond one of the welcome
signs proclaiming Hottie's A-GoGo.
The girls were dressed up in cropped blouses, bras, light skirts and
knickers. In my book this is coyote wear so the bar has been de-listed
from the GoGos section.
The girls were dancing on 2 stages with a couple of girls on each.
They didn't seem very interested in the few customers so I enjoyed my
cheap draft beer and departed pronto.
News from John, April 2009: Up Sized
The bar has now been extended. The bar is more than twice the size of
what it used to be.
Review Nov 2008: Not So Hot
There's a good band and a very cheap 45 Baht draft beer. There's even
a few pretty dancers. However at least at an early hour the bar is
struggling to get any momentum going (ie I was the only customer).
But as is often the case, if a bar is dead then nobody seems to make
any efforts to retain the few customers that give it a try.
Presumably the only girls that put up with a dead bar are those happy
to work for the salary rather than tips + extras. Hence nobody is
bothered about trying to look after any customers that may pop in.

News from Pattaya Today: Night March,
Nov 2008: Coyote's Off
It appears as though the experiment of trying to be a noshery
during the day and early into the night and then turning into a coyote
dance den later in the evening has failed.
After not being able to attract much in the way of chrome pole
molesting talent it seems the owners have sensibly ditched the idea
and are now getting more sleep at nights.
Review from Graham, Sept 2008:
New GoGo or Not
Howard was doing one of his Pattaya One News promo features on Ingos
Bar and Restaurant, opposite the Buffalo Bar. Ingo's is a Scandinavian
Bar.
He claimed following renovation, it was now a Restaurant in the day and
an A-GoGo in the evening.
Last night at about 1:00am, looked across the road and saw ONE COYOTE
(i.e.: fully clothed) girl on a pole. I have yet to do a visit to the
place to confirm the situation.
Watching the TV promo, there appeared to be 2 poles.
Our belief is anything less that 3 poles and continual dancing is NOT an
A-GoGo Bar.

Review from
Pattaya Addicts
June 2007: Packed
Jane's dares to be different. It offers all Thai beers at
35 Baht a bottle, Thai whisky for 25 and proper whisky for 50, including
mixers. It is packed every night!
Catering very much to the ex-pat retiree crowd it has become known to
the Thais who work the street as the Bar Gaer (old people's bar).
With lots of seating, friendly if slightly worn staff, a pool table and
an attached burger van, Jane's dishes out the Pattaya bar experience on
a budget for those whose pensions need to be stretched a little.
Ok, so the bargirls stopped being girls quite a few years ago and you'd
rather take them back than take them home but the crowd is warm and
welcoming and, just as in any likeminded neighbourhood bar back home,
you see the same faces in the same seats every night.
I like it very much.

Liquid Lounge
Stereo bar renamed to Liquid lounge in July 2008. The bar is still
open but the coloured disk theme has given way to a chrome look. Dancing
stages have also been installed.
Review from Materialsman, Nov 2008:
Liquidity Crisis
I must mention that we looked out of the Club Blu window
directly onto Liquid Lounge, previously The Stereo Music
Lounge, which purports to be another Coyote style place, but frankly it
is in an entirely lower league to Club Blu. I don’t see this as a long term prospect, and I
know that the new owner of Club Blu was involved in The Stereo Music
Lounge previously, I hope he sold out altogether, never thought I would
miss those multicoloured plastic discs on the wall, but I do!
Review from Pattaya Ghost, July 2008:
Strange Green Liquid
Liquid Lounge, the new incarnation of the former Stereo Bar, was
pitched to be another coyote-style bar. But its layout, ambience and
customer base make it really no more than a nicely laid-out beer bar.
Liquid Lounge is an open-air bar. No air conditioning. That takes most
of the steam behind the coyote argument out of it right there. Add to
that the fact that a pool table, and not dancer podiums, sits right in
the middle of the bar.
There is a dancer podium with two poles on the outer edge of the bar,
but it was not being used during two different visits. Service staff
told me there were no dancing ladies, although there were a number of
staff in full t-shirts and shorts sitting around the bar. At the back of
Lounge is the bar with bright green lighting that gives the place its
unique look.
Basically, Liquid is a big beer bar. It has no more dance podiums than
most Soi 8 beer bars and women pretty much on the same par. If you think
of it like that, it’s a fun and relaxed place.

News from
Pattaya Secrets,
Oct 2008: Remodelled
I noticed that the bar has been remodelled. I must say that the
changes have given the bar a great look. There is more room to move
around, they have a TV for sports now.
From the
Yellow Board,
February 2006: Doing the Biz
Most girls were only average at best but they dress them up in the
same plaid skirts and white blouses you used to see at The Classroom
gogos.
This is actually a real nice bar. The downstairs area has a bar, a pool
table and a nice aquarium to divide the room and make it appear more
cozy. A girl dutifully followed me in and took a drink order as I sat
down on a comfortable sofa.
We talked for a while. The bar isn't doing that well in Pattaya and the
owners had set up a rotation schedule with the girls from the Bangkok
Lolitas. The girl I met was from the Bangkok bar. She said this bar was
much much nicer, but she made more money in the big city. She asked if I
wanted to "go upstairs". I inquired about rates. 600 inclusive, no
tipping necessary.... unless I wanted to. So far so good.
For guys who don't like the exhibitionist quality of the Soi Post Office
bars, this is probably the place for you. The "upstairs" consisted of a
hallway of about 10 short time rooms. The rooms are probably only 8 ft
wide. Just big enough for a barber chair, the modern kind, a table and a
sofa.
Since we had privacy, I wanted to see her body. She seemed to think this
was kind of unique and got into. She sat back in the barber chair and
gave me some porno poses before getting down to action. She was very
very good and I gave her a 200 baht tip.
I would have gone back several times and probably been a very good
customer, but did not find the bar at all friendly, which may be part of
why they aren't doing much biz.
July 2005: Fun in the Dentist Chair
A fine selection of hostesses and its
extremely out of the way location makes Lolita's 'Hideaway of the Month'
The bar is actually located in an L shaped soi connecting
Soi Diana Inn with Soi Buakhao.
In the private area on the 'dentist chair', prices start at Bt600. In the private,
full-service rooms, prices start at Bt1,500. Well
not quite so private as the room walls don't go up to the ceiling so you get to hear
your neighbours in action.
There are also girls that will cater for ladies, or couples There
is also a pool challenge. Stake 100 Baht on a pool match against the
house and if you win you get a free blowjob

Cafe style bar
Review from
Pattaya Chat,
Feb 2007: Belgian/Dutch
Belgian owned bar. This cafe style bar is pretty
popular with the Belgian/Dutch community and for some reason with some
Japanese guys. A few girls in there too look not bad either.
Review from
Pattaya Secrets,
March 2006: International Appeal
A nice pub in Chiangmai style with live music and very frequented by
the expats. It is really international. You can have a good chat with
your friends, the service is very friendly and not fussy. Most
important: the music is not loud and the prices are very moderate.
Say hello to Charlie, the owner, nice man who speaks Dutch, French,
English and German

Review from Pattaya-Addicts,
Oct 2008: Lively
If you like a decent game of pool on decent full size American
tables, with good cues etc then you should try this place. The tables
are not cheap (240 baht per hour) but if you like to play good pool
this is the place. There are about 15 tables in all and quite a
friendly, international place.
A couple of nights I sat at the bar watching some high quality games
in progress. Some of the regulars are very good players, not that far
short of professional standard.

Beer bar recently enclosed with aircon
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
June 2006: Lively
Metro Apartments sports a lively bar. It is now air con and has 3
free pool tables (as long as you are buying drinks). It has several
TVs for satellite sport and friendly staff to play pool with if you
are on your own. The Irish boss, Dennis, runs a smooth operation and I
found it a nice place for an early evening game of pool before heading
out for the night.
The place is open all day but must of the staff roll in about 16 30
hrs and it stays open till 0200 as long as its busy.
Review from Pattaya Chat,
Feb 2007: Metropolitan
This place constantly gets a real good write up in all of the
boards. Nice, good quality rooms at a decent price. Nice comfortable bar
area, free pool tables, a few nice ladies on the staff and a very nice
owner in Dennis.

Review from Pattaya Chat,
Jan 2007: Friday Party Night
Owned by Steve from Cork , claims he's the only real Irish bar owner
in Pattaya.
Nice atmospheric Irish bar, not really into sport , more music based
, always a good fun bar. Holds legendary parties every Friday night , if
he can't find a reason to have a party, he'll make one up.
From the bar, May 2006: Irish
Buzz
If you like the buzz and atmosphere of an Irish pub you wont go wrong
at Murphy's Law, it is the only genuine Irish owned pub in Pattaya.
Although it is small; the owner Steve from Cork is a great host,
every one is greeted and made welcome, and introduced to the other
customers, you'll feel like a regular on your first visit.
Unusual for an Irish bar it doesn't have an 'Irishy' theme but Thai
style decor and a cozy feel. The prices are noticeably lower than other bars
and the staff while attentive are not pushy.
Food can be ordered in from any of the many close by restaurants.

NeeRoys
Bar & Restaurant billed as an English style curry house
Review from
Pattaya Today, Night March
Sept 2008: Noshery
The Neeroys bog-standard noshery is one joint doing alright despite
the overall business downturn in Pattaya. Catering to a local market and
offering stomach fillers at very reasonable prices, it’s no wonder the
place is pretty busy most nights. The 99-baht fish-and-chips remains one
of the best value meals in the city.
Review from Asia
Bugle, Sept 2007: Good Place
We went out for a quick and easy feed: partaking of the 99-baht
fish-and-chips in Neeroys restaurant. That was a good place for the
price we paid.
Review by Tim, Oct 2006: Sorry to Say...
I made it a point to go the Nee Roys as your site said it had good
Indian food.. Well it was a costly trip via Baht bus.. but I though the
food would be worth while..
But sorry to say.. the food did not live up
to my expectations.. In fact it was in MY opinion poor.. the people were
nice.. the price for the beer was OK.. but the food was poor quality..
had their Chicken dish.. poor.. had their curry potatoes.. poor.. they
did not even have Lentils.. the mainstay of a good Indian meal.. Nan
bread.. OK.. but nothing special..
Review from
Yellow Board,
April 2006: Better than the UK
If there are any Indian food lovers, may I suggest NeeRoy's on Soi
Chaiyapoon almost facing Crazy Dave's. NeeRoy's is quite cheap for
western food and the Indian stuff is better than here in the UK which is
famous for this sort of food.
NeeRoy's is owned by a guy from Bradford and his Thai lady.

Review from Pattaya Chat,
Dec 2007: Worth a look
The bar has a Thai guy singing every night.
Average range of girls here and more recently there has been up to 7
lady boys working out front. Neither the girls or the lady boys hassle
you for drinks so that is a bonus.
Bar fine is 200 Baht, 50 of this goes to the girl.
If you want some where to relax and not listen to a what a 19 year old
Thai DJ thinks you like at a squillion decibels this place is worth a
look.

I enjoy the happy hour at New Orn Bar on Soi Diana. Can't beat 35
baht Tiger bottles, unless you drink outside 7-11.
The happy hour runs from noon until 6pm. Thai beers at 35 Baht,

Food
Prices for food were reasonable, and the dining room
was clean and bright with new furniture and pleasant-enough decor. The
staff seemed generally competent and the service was error-free.
Everything was more than acceptable for an establishment that isn't
focused exclusively on food.
Overall, Ricky's on Soi Buakhow is a nice little
restaurant serving reasonably-priced, high quality British food.
Definitely worth a visit for a middle-of-the-road budget combined with a
good appetite.

Best action is after 3am. Good place to take your Thai lady to she

place but if you live here you know how to act and behave with respect.
The music is House / Club / RnB / Thai .
Drinking is fair priced eg Red Label 1litre 950 Baht mixers are 50

Review from Pattaya-Live
Feb 2009: Swinging
The once dead and mummified bar is now extremely swinging and we had
a great time. If the large (in quantity) and attractive staff in very
short school uniforms isn't enough, there's a very good band playing all
night. Beers were 40 baht. Top night. When the band was on breaks, the
girls entertained us cavorting on the poles making sure we could all get
upskirt views of their thongs.
The kitchen next to the pool is open till 1am and has a huge menu. The
free sambuca shots on the hour were also appreciated. There are many
overhead fans keeping the tropical environment extremely comfortable.
Review from Pattaya Secrets
Feb 2008: Coyote
4 girls trying to do the Coyote bit on two stages. About 10 girls
there. It was about 11:30pm.
Some hot girls. The pushy mamasan said barfines for dancers 1000
until 11pm, 500 11pm-midnight, and then free after that.
Outback is another bar in Pattaya trying to make a living. As it is
slightly off the beaten track it is trying various things to bring the
punters in. Aside from a reasonably steady stream of new girls and free
shots the music isnt that crappy banging hip hop that you get in town
with bars competing on sound levels.
Beer prices are average and lady drinks are at a 30 Baht premium to
the standard price for that drink.
They have the South African sports channels.
News Nov 2007: Outback Comeback
The slightly out of the way bar has made a comeback in autumn 2007.
Initial reports suggest that they are having a tough time recruiting
attractive girls but are offering a zero barfine to try and get
customers/girls interested.
Guys from Outback were also spotted barfining girls from Soi 6 to try
and assist with the staff shortages. Doesn't sound like it worked out,
but at least it generated a little publicity to get the bar noticed.
The previous incarnation was not well remembered by Thai-Anxiety
readers who tell me they stopped dining there when the service and
quality plummeted to abysmal levels.

It was a fun place. Had some friendly ladies. The only thing that I
didn’t like was that they have 2 LD prices. A LD or a cocktail. Cocktails
weren’t cheap and that’s what all the ladies will ask for
News from
pattayapeople.com,
Nov 2008: Renovation
The bar now has 3 new owners, Ivan, Justin and Dirk. They
celebrated their acquisition with a party on the 1st November.
They also announced the refurbishment of the venue including adding
more sparkle to their lively Coyote Dance Show. The new bar plans to
re-open later this month.
Review from Materialsman, Nov 2008:
‘It livens up later’
This was a successful Coyote Bar style bar from it’s inception a
couple of years ago, and last time I was in there, at it’s height of
success, it was packed to the gills with attractive hostesses, but
last night it was looking fairly forlorn.
The concept has been copied and improved upon by several Coyote style
joints, and Papagayos has been left behind somewhat, perhaps due to its
location? Besides us, there were only three other customers in the
place, plus a couple of whom I assume were the owners, slumped over the
till watching their investment slowly disappearing in front of their
very eyes.
All told there were about 15 girls dotted around the bar,
inclusive of three girls shuffling around on three corner podiums, but
they looked pretty bored with life, on the bright side, the beer was
reasonably priced at 80 baht a bottle, and a couple of the girls were
quite attractive, and I am sure the owners would say that ‘it livens up
later’, as they always do, but to me it looks like a bar that is slowly
dying.
News April 2008: Intermittent
The bar was reported to have gone dark for a few days early in April 2008.
The bar seems to be suffering after a long period of expensive
pricing and lots of hassle from the girls.
Review
from Pattaya Addicts,
March 2007: European City
Centre Bar
Papagayo is a very well laid out hostess bar , plays a
mixture of music, mostly euro pop and can at times have a lot of very
nice ladies, including many freelancers.
It gives off a vibe of a European city centre bar, and is fairly unusual
in Pattaya, probably best compared with Secrets, which I think is the
nearest to its type, but I would say Papagayo just shades it in style,
music and atmosphere, not to mention sexy ladies.

The Elephant Bar which opened this week is a little
bit different in style than the other bars in that area. It is a large

Comfortable bar chairs with backrest, leather sofas, a couple of
hostesses and soft background music makes this a place to chill-out and
relax.
You can either sit at a small outside area or in the large aircon-part

Drink prices are reasonable eg Singha is 60 Baht.
Hopefully they will be able to attract a few more girls soon.

News June 2009: Too Much Bottle
The
well known owner of the popular Rock House on Soi LK Metro hit a customer with a bottle
causing a gash to his head.
The incident arose out of an ongoing argument between bar owner Alex (posting as
Mulphy on Pattaya forums) and a board member using the handle Fondles.
The argument was said to be aggressive but verbal. At one point Alex said he
felt threatened and Glaswegian survival reflexes kicked in, he overreacted and
struck out with a bottle.
Fondles made a quick exit but was further attacked outside by the bar owners
friends.
No serious injuries were sustained and the protagonists are reported to have
reached a settlement.

Makes a mean English breakfast, host to the popular Travellers Rest

have a drink or read a newspaper, certainly not a place where you'll be
hassled.

From UP2U, Oct 2007: Chili Pepper
Vodka!
Our bar is the only place in Pattaya where you can try Jelly Vodka
and Pepper Vodka shots. Our famous parties are well remembered all over
the world. Our customers take home sweet memories about time spent in
UP2U Bar. Many of them come back year after year for great drinks,
entertainment or else… We constantly update our picture galleries,
please return to our web site and check our latest pictures for familiar
and new faces.
As you know, most vodka will be sold as plain vodka. We have it, but our
specialty is a Pepper Vodka. A Pepper Vodka looks like slightly reddish
whiskey. As majority of people think, Russian and Ukrainian Pepper Vodka
is the most popular remedy in those countries. Peter the Great was a
great fan of pepper vodka. Connoisseurs say that it helps cure all
diseases and ailments. They say it wonderfully helps at happy or
sorrowful times. It is no use to argue with people, as they seem to be
better aware of the issue.

Good decor with classical columns etc. The girls wear costumes to

The drinks prices are reasonable though at around 80 Baht. Short
times are on the high end at 500 for the room (inc barfine) and 1000 for
the girl. Initial reports are that the girls are not quite so top notch
as the prices.

Review from Pattaya Talk,
April 2009: Premiership
A great place to watch the Premiership football at the weekend They
have six different screens each showing a different game so your likely
to catch your team. The food wasn’t great though.
Review August 2007: Your Typical Pub
Strange for a themed pub but the restaurant appeared a
little formulaic. There are several 'English' pubs in Pattaya, none of
them offer hostesses for a chat with your meal, all expect you to be
interested in the sport on TV and all seem to buy their meals from the
same microwave/Boil in the bag catering suppliers.
Still the service was good, the meals were
inexpensive, they were perfectly good quality and had good sized
portions.
Now if only I could find an 'English' pub that would
supply a pretty dinner companion.

Review by
Pattaya Ghost,
Dec 2008: Smokin
Closed for more than a month for renovation, Pattaya’s X-Zyte
nightclub is back with a new modern look, fresh lineup of acts and some
smokin’ hot dancers.
The stage area has been completely revamped with the 1980s-style “wall
of lights” replaced with a huge LCD screen on which the DJ showed
computer-generated graphics, video and live feeds from the stage camera.
It has an impressive effect. Also notable is the new laser lighting
systems so popular in clubs and go-gos now in Pattaya, plus various wall
and ceiling fixtures.
The two 90-minute stage extravaganzas (startng at 11 p.m.) are truly
superb, rivaling a top-flight Las Vegas stage show. The lineup, at least
this Friday night, has been tweaked with many more of the dance numbers
with singers playing to the band With 20 or so dancers on stage in
terrific costumes and choreography, these are definitely preferred over
the solo singers.
The standard bottle of Chivas Regal costs 780 baht and if you buy that
you can take up to 4 people in with you for no added charge. The first
setup of 2 Cokes, 2 bottles of soda water, ice and popcorn was 340 baht.
Additional mixers are 60 baht, another basket of popcorn was 40 baht and
only the charge for ice (60 baht) seemed out of line.
As with most Thai clubs, however, the economics are built on bottles of
the sponsored whiskey, so if you really want an economical evening,
that’s the way to go.
X-Zyte is not a pickup joint and if you go there stag you’ll likely
leave that way. Friday and Saturday are really the best nights to go
with the crowd comprised of “good” Thai girls out together or with their
Thai boy sweeties.
Overall, X-Zytle is a terrific and inexpensive night out, especially if
you go in a group.
Review from Pattaya Secrets,
Sept 2007: Empty
I noticed that there was a distinct lack of women also; no
freelancers, no ‘HiSo’s’ not even a LB in sight. To be honest the place
was pretty empty even when I left at around 1.00am.
The pressure that customers are now put under to consume drinks is
incredible, every two minutes some waiter approaches you pointing to
your bottle/glass with the immortal words, one more? What made it more
ridiculous was that I was drinking from a glass and it was blatantly
bloody obvious that my glass was 2/3rds full. It made me feel
uncomfortable to the point of me deliberately drinking slowly to piss
them off and I kid you not, someone from the Management (read important
man wearing suit and tie) asked me in a not so friendly tone did I want
another drink.
The final nail in the coffin for me was when I caught a glance of the
bill belonging to the Thai couple sitting next to me. For a small bottle
of Heineken and some alcho pop thing I was charged B300 which in all
honesty, I can live with as the show is pretty intense with some great
action etc, but the Thai couple next to me paid B150 for a small
Heineken and a Bacardi Breezer!
News March 2007: Hot
There were reports of a fire on the morning of 27th
March. Way after hours though so hopefully few people will have been
inside.
Damage did not appear extensive from a passing drive
by later in the morning
Review from
Pattaya Polecat,
March 2007: Regal
The vast interior is a cross between a 1930s cinema
and the starship in Close Encounters, also has lavish dance-and-sing
shows, and roving video-cameras capture stills of merry punters on big
screens.
You can get a bottle of 100 Pipers whisky for 580
baht, or Chivas Regal for 950 baht.
December 2005: Hot
Hot place but never got a lady in there wanted many but could never
get hold of one.

Notes |
|
Pattaya bars most likely to be listed are those that
occupy a permanent looking standalone building. Beer bars in
complexes will not be listed
unless mentioned in dispatches. Gay/Thai/Karaoke bars are not listed due
to a lack of expertise in those areas. Gogo bars are listed on a
separate page. I have added food reviews but
this is not a comprehensive service. I will only list eateries where
people have submitted comments
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners
may present a rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at
face value...go and see for yourself. Click on the street name to obtain
a map of the bar area.
And a couple of words of warning:
-
In short time rooms...keep an
eye on your wallet to ensure that it stays with you long time.
-
To those with Thai wives, be aware of the motor
cycle taxi network used to keep tabs on errant husbands.

July 2007:
Short Time Edging Up
From
Pattaya Secrets
and tallies with my own observations
- Dancing Girl ... ST 1000 / LT 2000 (assuming good performance). I would suggest that you should be willing to add an extra
500 to the GoGo fee if you get stuck on a model class girl and
you find yourself unable to say no.
- Beer Bar Girl ... ST 500 / LT 1000 (quickie) to ST 700 /
LT 1500 (for an entire evening of effort)
- Street Freelancer ... ST 500 / LT 1000 (no questions, no exceptions)
- Short Time Bar Girl... Traditionally ST 500 with 250 for the room (+ small
tip for good service) but now edging up to ST 700 and 300 for
the room
