Listing the bars of Pattaya
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a
rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go
and see for yourself.

Good looking bar with high quality ladies but they are asking top
dollar and may be out of place in a fairly remote soi.
From Chicaboom, Sept 2008: Plans
The plan is to do a quality British breakfast from 8.00 am and also
offer good food throughout the day.
Midday we have at least 8 ladies all dressed in uniform eg
nurse, secretary etc, these girls will dance, serve and be very willing
hosts to our clientel.
Short time rooms are available and we think it will become a good
funtime place to spend the afternoon.
Nice seating area outside if you fancy a quiet beer. Evenings will be
very much the same same with more stunning hosts and we may try some
live music.
All major sporting events will be shown on our 3 lcd screens and to
stand out from the crowd we have a 10 foot long hdi projector with all
the surround etc , giving out an awesome experience.

Review from
Pattaya Secrets, Feb 2007: All
Veterans
This used to have some lovelies but
sadly disappointed... Around 8-10 girls... all veterans... Had a chat
with two of them... very funny and pleasant... but about as sexually
stimulating as Mrs Doubtfire... They admitted most of the ''sexy'' girls
had gone away with farang or gone home already....
Jan 2005:
The Harley bar is big. It looks like
an old fashioned Western themed bar you might see in Arizona. They have
3 or 4 pool tables in the back. If you decide to take a girl, there is a
150 baht bar fine and 200 baht for a ST room in the hotel. The rooms are
nice since it is a relatively new hotel. Red silk sheets.
I asked the girl how much and she
asked me why I was asking and then quoted 1000 Baht (going rate is 700).
They had some good looking girls though
July 2004:
Suffered the uninvited and ego sapping
attractions of the oldest woman in the bar who would not go away even
when given the cold shoulder treatment. Only option is to leave. Why on
earth do the managers allow this to happen. Never again...even though it
is my local short time bar.

Elephant Bar
Pratamnak Road:
Soi 4 |
Elephant Bar
Restaurant & bar. Restricted to seasonal opening in 2009
Review Nov 2008: Motorway Service
Station Style
I am occasional visitor to Soi 4. My last intended visit was
curtailed when my mate said it looks more like a motorway service
station than a bar or Thai restaurant so we ended up in the more
traditionally Thai Cabbages and Condoms next door.
The latest time I stayed for a couple of drinks. For the cost
conscience the bar does a perfectly good draft beer for 45 Baht in a
decent sized glass so no probs there.
But really the bar no longer looks or feels like a bar any more, just
a rather large eaterie.
Review May 2008: Restaurant
Prices
The food has always been pretty good, never been the cheapest, but
decent enough quality and large portions and again my Beef hot pot
didn't let me down, no complaints what so ever with the food.
Now the drink prices. They must have doubled the prices, a can of coke
60 baht and a bottle of Singha now selling at 95 baht. Doesn't even have
air con.
News Jan 2008: Restaurant
Expansion
The bar area is now completely restaurant seating. Unfortunately it
looks a little like motorway service area seating. There is a live band
though, to up the stakes.
News Aug 2007: More Works
The builders are in. The bar is being extended down one side. It
looks like an auditorium like affair is being built in the bar area at
the back
News July 2006: Elephant
A-GoGo
The bar has installed facilities for GoGo dancing. Reportedly open
already but I haven't seen any reviews yet.

Exotica
Paratamnak
(between Soi 4 and 5) 1pm to 9-10pm |
Exotica
Gentlemen's Club opened on 22nd October 2011.
Review November 2011: Fun Girls
The bar is located on Pratamnak nearly opposite Soi 4. The venue is
the the last of the block and there is a plot next door acting as a car
park.
The bar is on the first floor, with pedestrian access through an
uninviting and dingy ground floor area with the access steps at the back
to the room. The bar would probably do itself a few favours by getting a
neon sign on the ground floor, proclaiming that the bar is open and then
inviting people in.
As you reach the top of the stairs then suddenly it becomes a very
luxuriously appointed bar. The first room you enter is the pool room and
the large main bar is just next door.
The bar area is very open plan, maybe it would have been better with
a few token gestures of privacy such as seating bays.
I arrived late afternoon and there were about a dozen girls and a
dozen customers. Most of the girls were tied up with guys, and there was
not much doing except watching other guys having fun with girls on their
laps. But there was a good turnover of customers, and the girls were
very proactive in search of drinking partners, so it wasn't long before
getting a bit of attention.
There were a couple of pretty girls getting drunk and having fun, and
there were several others that would surely get a fair few barfines a
month. Most I spoke to have had experience at similar bars such as
Kinnaree.
It turned out to be quite a fun sort of bar but the management has to
be careful to ensure that there are enough girls to go around.
The beers were 80 baht a bottle and the lady drinks were 120 Baht.
There is also an outside section with a swimming pool, but when I
visited, all the action was inside.
Looks promising.

Eye Candy Bar
Paratamnak
(between Soi 3 & 4)
6pm - 2am |
Eye Candy Bar
Coyote dancing bar new for 2011.
Review December 2011: Impressed
Not quite a new bar, but has just recently changed format to a coyote
dancing bar organised very much like a GoGo.
It is located just a few paces of Paratamanak Road a few metres from
the corner of Soi 4. It is in a square with a large Harley shop. The bar
has no welcome staff, nor open sign, but if the neon sign is on and it
is between 6pm and 2am then it is open.
It is a small single unit bar with a central stage. Either side of
the stage are 3 sofas to seat 3. This probably means that the
comfortable maximum is 12 customers. There are a few stools at the bar
at the back though.
There were 12 girls on duty of which 3 were dancing at a time. Not a
bad ratio for the size of the bar. The girls were a surprising
attractive crew for an off beat location. The girls were all dressed in
coyote attire of shorts, top and bra. There was a theme which I think
was probably meant to be naval.
I am not usually a fan of coyote dancing bars but I found this more
like a GoGo bar where the girls were wearing a little too much. These
were not agency girls, nor girls likely to be sponsored, or not
interested in barfines etc. they were regular girls making a good effort
for lady drinks and barfines.
The mamasang was friendly and helpful. In fact I found the bar to be
well run and a very pleasant place for a drink and a chat with the
friendly girls.
And just as the night was drawing to a close the girls were getting a
little merry and a couple dressed down from coyote to GoGo.
Bottled beer was 70 Baht, lady drinks 120 Baht, early barfines 700,
and late barfines 500.

Pattaya Secrets, November 2011: Not So Good

Pretty much the same prices as similar venues, but Jade is the loser in
terms of quality of the girls.

Still good compliments for the BBQ garden, pool and the rooms.

Review from
Pattaya Secrets, Feb 2009: Thumbs Up
The quality of the girls has improved since last year. They still
charge 200bt to cover the BBQ, but you can recover this through your bar
bill if you chose not to eat.
The ST activity costs 1000bt and barfine-room costs 300bt not a bad way
to spend a Wednesday afternoon, got to give it the thumbs up
Review May 2008: Oldies
The bar seemed to be in a party mood but the girls were enjoying
their own company. An old and unattractive lady attached herself to me
so I shooed her away. When another oldie joined me as a replacement, I
figured it was time to be off
News Feb 2007: Expensive
The bar seems to have dropped out of favour a little as the girls
now ask for 700 Baht + 300 for the room. The Wednesday afternoon BBQ
is free for anyone who buys a drinks ticket for 200 Baht. Drinks
prices are reasonable at 60 Baht for a bottled beer.

management and a slightly new name.
300 Baht for room, 1000 Baht for girl. Beers at 75-85 Baht, Thai
spirits at 70 Baht. Beware of expensive Lady Tequilas at 140 Baht but
normal lady drinks are 100 Baht. There's a happy hour until 3pm when
beers are 50 Bhat.
150 Baht barbecue and entertainment on Saturday afternoons. The 150
Baht seems to be added to the bill whether you eat or not. Free for
drinks bills over 500 Baht.
Review April 2010: Suay
Kinnaree is a luxury afternoon hideaway and short time bar.
The new owners have made a very wise upgrade by installing aircon in
the main bar area. Plenty of good quality seating and excellent decor
make this just about the most luxurious looking bar in Pattaya. There is
a show area for Saturday afternoons that looks fun.
There were plenty of girls on hand of which a few were attractive.
The drinks were inexpensive with a bottled beer at 75 baht and a lady
drink at 100 Baht.
All in all a great place for a drink with your mates.
I was not quite so convinced by the short time aspects of the bar
though. The girl who latched onto me was a rather hardened freelancer
who spoke about the similarly appointed Stork Club closing as customers
dwindled away. Perhaps this bar will go the same if they allow oldie
freelancers to dictate customer care.
I think that hostess bars in general need to find a good way for
customers to dictate terms, and to be able to select girls rather than
vice versa. After all that's what GoGo's and Soi 6 bars basically do and
they work just fine.
At the moment the girls seem to be in the driving seat, and can
ignore customers, or move on to others at their own discretion. Fair
enough really, but someone has got to think about trying to get
customers to keep coming back another day.

The Lion Pub
Short time bar
October 2005:
The way this bar is run is weird even by Thai/Pattaya standards. The
attention you get seems to depend on whether the boss is in the bar when
you drop in. No boss there today so the only entertainment I had was
scratching my balls on an otherwise empty plastic sofa and gawking at a
muted TV. The ten or so girls present were chatting among themselves,
smoking and mobiling.
September 2005:
Some attractive, well built and friendly girls. Their ST room/shower
is the best I have seen in a long, long while.
2004:
A lot of fun on a party night. About 20 mostly attractive girls keep
the customers entertained by party games and dancing.
Perhaps they spend too much time entertaining and not quite enough
chatting with the customers.
On a subsequent non-party night I was treated like a leper.

The deco and atmosphere was fantastic. A real classy feel to the

Visa, Dec 2006: US Prices
I've had nothing but good reports from my friends who have dined
here. It's been my experience that quality steakhouse restaurants are
not available in Pattaya and that includes the ones mentioned above. My
friends report that some of the side a la carte dishes are nothing
special and can be avoided if you want to cut-corners on the tab.
The prices are equivalent to a good quality steakhouse here in the
U.S. (not that bad considering cost to import quality beef).

Sapphire Lodge
Gentlemen's club opened on 9th November 2011. Luxurious daytime
and evening bar.
Review December 2011: Not Loads of Girls
Just before Sapphire A-GoGo opened, the bar let all the girls
return to the GoGo. This left Sapphire Lodge bereft of girls and it
didn't take long before the customers scooted off too. The bar
changed its hours to 3pm until 1am causing further customer
confusion.
Anyway the bar is now consolidating and recruiting, but for the
moment the review below dated November 2011 simply no longer
applies.
There is now a Saturday promotional price of 65 Baht for bottled
beer.
Review November 2011: Loads of Girls
There's nothing like opening with a splash, and Sapphire Lodge
have done exactly that. Most bars struggle to get girls for the
opening days but Sapphire just happens to have a GoGo worth of
resources currently waiting for a sister bar to re-open after
renovations.
And really have GoGo quality girls available in a hostess bar
setting makes it the best set up I've seen in daytime for a long
time. Actually I was there as afternoon turned towards evening, and
there were say 30 girls in attendance even in the early evening. I
hope that they can maintain the option for an evening visit. Other
similar bars tend to die a death after 6pm. A downward spiral sets
in where the girls (mostly freelance) depart because there are few
customers, and any customers that give it a try do a U turn when
there are no girls, never to try again in an evening. I don't see
why there shouldn't be a reasonable pool of customers in the
evening. It's just that everyone knows (or thinks) that the bars are
not properly open in the evening and don't even give it a try.
The bar itself is a large rather square shape but it has been
nice broken up by having a balcony floor as a walkway for upstairs
rooms.
A few days ago I commented on the similarly sized indoor bar at
nearby Exotica which I found a bit open plan. Sapphire Lodge is a
definite improvement. It has bays that split up the seating running
along the long sides of the bar. Having the option to sit against
the wall and having the occasional barrier just adds that little
gesture towards privacy that a girly bar really should have.
In general the bar looks the biz.
There is a swimming pool and outside bar but I did not take a
look.
Bottled beer was 85 Baht and lady drinks were 120 Baht. There are
various food options with specials on several days of the week.
I predict that this bar's natural pairing with a GoGo is going to
provide very tough competition for the 3 nearby gentlemen's clubs.
Just like in Walking Street, the most popular bars are easily the
one's with the best girls. And this bar is winning hands down so
far.

It can get a bit cramped, as it only hold about 20 people, but there
are around 10 or so girls working daily, of variable quality.
Beer is reasonable and its a chilled place to hang out.
Review from
Pattaya Secrets, June 2007: Good
Atmosphere
Some very nice girls, usually 4-6 on duty. Drinks are cheap, the
atmosphere good and girls friendly. The music is good. Room/barfines are
300 with 700 short time.
I think it's well worth a visit and plan to go back again soon.
Review March 2007: Soho
Walk Up?
Good to see a new short time bar opening in an area of town without
so many bars.
From a UK slant, the name Soho, does little for me except conjure up
an image of clip joints and establishments best avoided.
Still I braved the prejudice and found a pretty standard beer bar
layout with bar stools rather than the far more inviting sofa affairs.
The bar is long and narrow and decorated with many pictures from London.
The bar could do with a little privacy perhaps by closing the main
door. But then again, as there is no air con, then perhaps it would get
unpleasantly hot.
Even after chatting for a while I found it a little hard to believe
that short time was the aim of the bar. None of the girls chatting to
customers appeared to be getting down to anything very sexy. In fact the
girl chatting to me was hardly what you could call attentive or
enticing.
Other little things to iron out were that the music was a little loud
and that the best looking girls were baggsed by the owner and friends.
There were plenty of girls to go around though.
Bottled beer was reasonable at 65 Baht, soft drinks were 50 Baht &
lady drinks 105 Baht. There is also Tiger draft beer. I didn't ask about
the short time prices as didn't want to give my inattentive drinking
partner false hope.
Still early days but I rather suspect that the hardened short timers
will stick with the more discreet and comfortable Jade Club just up the
road.
My drinking friend did make one good point: Do you know any short
time bars on a main road? Made me ponder a while but there is the
Buffalo bar on 3rd Road, albeit set back a bit.

Pattaya-Live, August 2009: Very Nice
Bar
Impressed by the design and comfort, its a very nice bar .
Had a few and we were well looked after by the staff of about 12, mostly
decent lookers.
Review April 2007: Pirates
& Bras
Tigglebitties is a large beer bar with plenty of stools at the bar
and and plenty more dotted around the many tables and dancing poles.
The decor is naval and pirates complete with hanging bras, presumably
the pirates booty. The bar is only partially enclosed from the street so
there is no feeling of privacy. There were several girls on hand, of
which a couple were attractive. But they did not make the slightest
effort to get any better acquainted beyond what would you like to
drink? Pleasant enough but surely a little disappointing to those
reading the promotional material. This suggests that the bar sees itself
as The Buffalo Bar but better.

Looking
I decided to check out the Yensabai Marine disco in the Yensabai
Marine Mansion this morning around 4:15am. I walk in to a very nice
building, went up one floor where I was greeted buy two cuties. One
escorted me into the disco. There are like five people in the place.
It's a huge nice looking room but no customers.

Notes |
Pattaya bars most likely to be listed are those
that occupy a permanent looking standalone building. Beer bars in
complexes will not be listed unless mentioned in dispatches.
Gay/Thai/Karaoke bars are not listed due to a lack of expertise in those
areas. Gogo bars are listed on a separate page. I have added food
reviews but this is not a comprehensive service. I will only list
eateries where people have submitted comments
The following reviews are those that I come across on
the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own
visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a
rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go
and see for yourself. Click on the street name to obtain a map of the
bar area.
And a couple of words of warning:
-
In short time rooms...keep an eye on your wallet
to ensure that it stays with you long time.
-
To those with Thai wives, be aware of the motor
cycle taxi network used to keep tabs on errant husbands.
