The following reviews are those that I come across on the web, in guide books, from contributors and of course from my own visits. Reviewers may be unreasonably harsh and bar owners may present a rosy picture of their bars...so don't take everything at face value...go and see for yourself.

  Review June 2009: Business Class

The bar must be doing something right as it is very busy during a very low season.

The bar is closest in feel to What's Up. It has half the bar devoted to gogo dancing on a small set of stages and then at the back of the bar it has a water feature and play stage with girls doing a continuous naughty show. And in common with What's Up it has the Thai run potential to be a bit overly ruthless on the quest for money.

The gogo dancers were mostly bikini clad with an odd one taking her top off. The prettier girls were assigned to the fun stages at the back and were generally having fun with the customers willing to feedback the fun.

The service staff make a mark with their fetching air stewardess uniforms which definitely add a unique atmosphere to the bar.

I was stuck in the only available space in the Club, well away from the bathtub and Jacuzzi action, and right under a speaker close to the Club entrance, nursing my 120 baht bottle of Heineken.

I will certainly be returning once the Christmas and New Year Bar Fine wallet gouging levels are over, so, like a News of the World reporter, after really enjoying the company, I made my excuses and left.

Some girls seem to alternate between Air Port Club and Playgirls upstairs. But the end result is that Playgirls ends up with poor girls compared with the very nice ladies at Air Port Club.

  Review Sept 2008: Flying High

Nui's seem to have done their homework and have been scouting Walking Street for some of the most. popular attractions in other bars.

They have come up with something akin to What's Up & Lollipop. One first comes across standard gogo dancing on a central stage but towards the back is a Jacuzzi and also a soft mattress play stage.

The gogo dancing is either bikini clad or topless depending on the girl. And the back play areas feature girls showing off their all. And they have even learnt well the number one lesson that pretty girls are what makes a Walking Street bar.

There is comfortable bench seating down the sides and cylindrical soft seats around the play areas.

Nui must also have learnt the lesson with Rock Girls and Fun Room that small gogos don't really work. I think this bar is big enough to work out fine.

On an early visit, customers seemed to be ushered into the gogo dancing area of the bar and the girls at the back seemed a little ignored but I am sure its early days.

I was soon approached by a girl who introduced herself by telling me which previous bars she had spotted me in. I had never said a word to her but she seemed to know me. All seemed friendly with no undue hassle.

Draft beer is set at the usual reasonable price for Nui's bars at 65 Baht which is standard give or take 10 Baht for happy hour offers etc.

Seems a promising venue, I think Nui must have learnt her lessons well.

...Except of course elementary spelling.

I first discovered Angelwitch in April of 2008 with a couple US Marine buddies. Even with the high prices we were addicted from the start! We even saw a lot of couples there…

We ended up there every night and I went home with the same hot lil’ cutie every time. And I thought I was a true butterfly! Not with this one. Mamasan always made her wait for me… Now that’s service!

…When I managed to make it back to Pattaya in August, my little darling was no longer working there but mamasan was and she made damn sure that I had my pick of any girl on stage. She even offered to call my original girl back just for me. I declined of course and took full advantage of mama’s kind offer and walked out with a different girl every couple of nights. With mama as a friend and as long as I took care of the girls, no hard feelings. Not even so much as a dirty look… Admittedly that freedom to butterfly was paid for in smiles, tips and ping pong balls!

Because my first drink was always with the head mamasan or the staff my friends and I were always well taken care of… I’ll always make a point to drop in to Angelwitch for a little “Home Coming” whenever I’m in Pattaya.

Still providing great choreographed shows although short on customer/girl interaction and lacking much in the way of eroticism.

A good place to take a girl if you’ve already barfined and you can stomach the sky-high drink prices.

  Review Nov 2008: Popular

I'm no longer a regular visitor to the bar due to the very expensive drinks.

The shows are worth the money for those that like choreographed shows. In fact the shows are about the best in town.  I also find it a very good place to go with visitors who may not like the mongering bars that I prefer.

However most of the time I am in participation mode rather than watching mode, so paying extra for shows doesn't appeal.

But there are an awful lot of visitors in town who prefer watching over participating, so the bar does deservedly very well indeed.

  Review by Don, Feb 2008: Quick Quick

I've had a couple of bad experiences at Angelwitch.

First was in September when I ordered a coke, which was about the price of a beer, and was hustled out of the bar by the waitresses for not ordering another quickly enough. I though this may have been because of my choice of beverage and that I’d be given more time with a beer.

The experience was enough to keep me away from the place until last night, when my date asked if we could return. Unarguably they have a great show and their fill dancers between the shows are very attractive now – as they tended to be drab in the past.

But drinks are very expensive, and the waitresses were hovering as we watched the show. I believe the couple next to us were harassed out of the bar, but I kept a firm hand on my beer throughout to avoid waitresses picking up the bottle – this didn’t stop one waitress from getting up on her toes & peering in to it. Finally, although neither of us had finished our drinks, we were told we had to reorder for the new show or go. So we chugged our drinks in anger and left. We never did see a full show and I expect the time we were allowed with our drinks was about 20 minutes.

I do not come to Thailand to be angered, but these guys succeeded twice in 2 short visits. I’d recommend to all others to stay away unless they enjoy being treated like crap.

Got in at 11.20 pm just before a round of shows started. The place was crowded. I saw a lot of gents with their Thai girlfriends that came to watch the show.

The dancing girls are an above average friendly bunch. Same for the service girls. The girls dance half topless.

Called in a very cute dancing lady (barfine 600 Baht) to watch the show with me. The show is stunning. No doubt the best show of all gogos in Pattaya. Even a python was involved. A show that everyone should see.

Being the place so full I was wondering what its like in high season. I suppose there will be queues all the way up to Walking Street

  Review July 2008: Better Than Ever

The bar is very good as outlined in previous reviews. Unfortunately for the high season months it was a bit too good. I gave the bar a miss for a few months simply because it was hard to find a seat, let alone a girl to take care of you.

However the low season has depleted the excess customers and again there is a good chance to take part in some of the almost legendary entertainment.

There are touch feely shows on the play mat, the Jacuzzi and also on part of the main stage. There is also more traditional gogo dancing on the central stage and a few table dancing stages.

The service is friendly but sometimes a little stretched by the amount of customers.

The drinks prices are very reasonable.

There are plenty of pretty girls on hand but maybe not quite the top selection in Pattaya, as maybe the interactivity is a little too much for many girls.

Having read other reviews about Baby Dolls my wife and I thought we’d have to check it out.

The other reviews were spot on for the liveliness, lots of nakedness, interactivity and downright good fun.

The only place we stayed for more than one drink.
The only place that we ST’d a girl.
The only place that we could say we were welcomed and looked after by the mamasan, service girls and dancers.
The only place we felt they wanted us to be there, and to stay.
The only place where the smile was the norm, and not the exception.

Coupled with reasonably priced beer and happy hour until 10pm, we gave this place top marks and first on the list when we visit Pattaya again.

Baby Dolls is hands down the best GoGo in Pattaya right now. Full nudity seems to be encouraged, perhaps possible because of the off-Walking Street location. 'Anything goes' at this place. Non-stop shower/hot tub and separate bed (pad) show is really hot. Up close seats, and girls happy to have you help with baby oil, soap, nipple caressing, etc.

This place is a really great time. MamaSang is top notch, happy to buy you a drink if you have bought plenty yourself and she will IMMEDIATELY correct any problem and make it right. For instance one shy show girl wasn't giving a good performance so MamaSang yelled at her to get wet and encouraged a customer to rub her entire body down with soap.

At the moment Baby Dolls is totally rocking. Loads of girls, with a lot of nudity and naughtiness.

The customer base has picked up too. Up till now its been Pattaya's hidden gem. I guess I'll have to share it with others now.

  Review Jan 2009: Never Changing

I have been popping by Beach Club for 4 years and I am sure that just about nothing has changed. Maybe there is now a little less emphasis on a 20 Baht tip for the girl to squat down. Presumably the novelty has worn off somewhat.

The bar is always popular, the girls are consistently attractive and there are always plenty in attendance.

Maybe the draft beer has gone up 5 Baht in the 4 years which shows consistency in attractive pricing.

And for some reason I consistently fail to find any girl showing much interest in your reviewer.

I guess it is more a bar for watching than playing but the management of the bar consistently know what's best to get the customers in.

Truely a Pattaya success story.

  Review April 2008: Watching

The bar always seems popular. There are plenty of pretty girls who dance on a pretty long circuit. Most girls are knickerless under skirts with open blouse. Some wear more and some wear less.

A few customers were being looked after by the girls, but mostly this seems to be  bar for watching rather than interacting.

Small beer glasses mean that the 55 Baht draft price tag is not quite the bargain it appears. But nothing to complain about.

Tips are the usual order of the day to get a closer look at the dancer. But saying that I didn't spot too many customers with a fistful of 20's to give out.

Always good to see a popular but I left it for those that were enjoying and moved on to a more interactive bar.

When I entered at 1am, I found myself in the middle of a party. There were lots of girls most of them average but a few pretty ones also. They are all topless with skirts with nothing underneath. Some dance naked.

Got into a talk with one of the more beautiful and energetic girls and apparently one of the popular girls.

The more beautiful girls can make more money on tips, lady drinks and ST than LT so that is not a popular option. It's all about money.

  Review, Feb 2007: Legs all the way to the Ceiling

The second dancer on the circuit to entertain at my table was a beauty. She was incredibly long legged and had the flattest tummy I have seen for a while.

All I could dream about was that she could dance at an altitude where I could smile and make eye contact. Unfortunately it was simply too uncomfortable on the neck to do more than glance at her dancing way above my head so I sat back and watched the dancers on distant tables instead.

Scanning the rest of the bar, there was one guy having a lot of close up and personal fun with one of the girls. But my beauty had just started on what looks like a very long dance circuit. My dreamworld, long legged, potential partner for the evening would surely age another day before being able to get back to my side.

So I surveyed the scene for a while revealing plenty of good looking girls many of whom were dancing topless. There was an all male service staff and a whole host of hostesses doing nothing but occupy seats.

Good to see many pretty girls but I do prefer to view girls at eye level so I quickly moved on to a less lofty venue.

  Review from Asia Bugle, August 2006: Busy But Why?

I found nothing very exciting. What I do not understand is why it stays busy as it really offers very little, when you look at what's available elsewhere. But another owner may have hit the proverbial nail on the head when he said ‘look what everybody is drinking.' Their drinking small draft beers, which are cheap, implying that this is the home of the cheap Charlies. Possibly but I saw no other useful attribute.

Personally I find the place overcrowded and a little in your face for my own tastes, on this occasion there was nothing dancing on the podiums that took my fancy, however, and this has always been true, the hostesses in the place can turn your head, and sure enough it wasn’t long before a couple of good looking ones approached us.

  Review May 2009: Dance Marathon

The bar is consistent in its pros & cons.

The plus side is that the bar employs good looking girls who are generally hands on friendly.

The negative side is that the girls have a marathon dance roster of 2 songs on each of the 6 tables in the cycle.

The table dancing girls also angle for a 20 Baht tip to squat down for a close up show. But I find this a little passé and keep my tips for those giving good attention at my stool.

The bar employs quite a lot of girls for a small bar so it always seems lively.

  Review Dec 2008: Always Worth a Try

It took me a long time to work out how to get the best out of the bar. It can be good fun but there are several pitfalls to avoid.

What makes the bar is that the girls are hands on, friendly and generally good fun. The downside is the overly long dance stints couple with the inconsistency of numbers inherent in a small bar.

So what do is first of all is do a quick scan of the bar. If it is barfined out, and there are few girls in attendance then a U turn is in order. Try again another day as the girls will spend all their time dancing.

If there are sufficient girls, then I choose the table at the back left of the bar which is the last on the dance rota. Choosing the girl from this table enables a decent amount of time before she has to go dance again.

And the chances are then good for a memorable visit to the bar.

  Review May 2008: Plenty on Show

I have read a few good write ups of Beavers of late saying that there surely are some naughty girls in attendance.

I have always been a bit sceptical though as I have missed out on the fun in several visits and not even seen much naughty stuff going down with other customers.

But a recent visit pleasantly confirmed some of the rumours.  I was well looked after by a very friendly and hands on girl.

Not quite an ideal bar though, as there are a few fundamental flaws. Firstly the bar is too small for any comfortable seating. Secondly the dancing stint is too long, and when your lady go dance, it is a cue to move on to the next bar. Thirdly I am simply not keen on table dancing. It gives me a crick in the neck and I find it somewhat undignified to stare up at a girl.

Update:

It has been pointed out to me that maybe I should have cast my gaze downwards. I would then have spotted the mirrored tables and perhaps also the inspiration for the name of the bar.

  Review Aug 2007: Cramped

The opens earlier than the 8pm norm so can be quite useful if waiting for 8pm.

It always seems hard to run a small gogo as there is not much flexibility should a lot of girls get bar fined. I have been in a couple of times when the remaining girls are near continuously dancing.

The bar gets a little cramped if there are a lot of customers as all the tables seem just a little to close to each other for the amount of stools dotted around.

Long dancing stints and small glasses of beer are other faults of the bar.

On the positive side there are several colourful characters on the staff and I have seem a few customers get some good personal attention. I've never been one of the lucky few though.

  Review Jan 2007: Not my Scene

The bar seems to get hardly a mention in Pattaya forums these days so it was surely time to stop by and have a look.

It always seems better that people who appreciate a particular type of entertainment should be the ones who review it, so please excuse the lack of appreciation for neck craning fun. Judging by the number of table dancing stages in Pattaya, others surely enjoy it more than I.

Also customers who like their beer in very small glasses perhaps would be more inclined to award higher marks for the bar.

People blessed with the patience of a saint would surely appreciate the very long dancing roster for the girls. The girls dance 2 songs at each table and there were 4 tables in the circuit.

Also the bar seems to be targeted at customers who prefer to watch rather than chat. The bar seems to have few girls available to circulate for a chat.

  Review July 2006: Gnawing Away at Viability

Made a 10:30pm visit and the bar had almost finished for the night. There were only enough girls for dancing duty and there were simply none left to act as hostesses.

Perhaps this was due to good success earlier in the evening as there seemed to be a fair few plain clothes girls doing very little.

A brief visit indeed as I scooted off elsewhere in my never ending quest to compile a census of where all Pattaya girls originate from.

  Review Feb 2009: 100 Baht Bottled

The bar has reduced their drinks prices But not by quite enough to tempt me. There is no draft beer but bottled beer has been reduced by 10 Baht to 100. There is a 2 for 1 offer on Thai spirits too.

There were also a few more dancers in the mid range between First and Las Vegas. The dancers were again bikini clad and seemed generally demure. The bar looks very smart but 100 Baht bottled beer is not really good value for the entertainment.

  Review Jan 2009: Ambitious

Interesting how this bar got its name, given that it is one letter away from the Soi 6 gogo Betty Boup which in itself is not exactly a common name for a bar.

The single unit bar is nicely decorated with a central stage, bench seating on one side and stools on the other. The owners have even invested in an upper gantry stage accessed by rather a difficult looking ladder. Lets hope the upper tier ladies don't get too mao.

No such danger at the moment, the bar is well understaffed with just 5 dancers and a couple of hostesses. There were 2 or 3 dancers on stage wearing a rather unrevealing bikini. The dancers were attractive, one particularly so.

The bar has a DJ and some lighting bits and pieces to match.

The bar looks pretty ambitious and as drinks to match its ambition rather than its reality. There is no draft beer and bottled beer is rather high at 110 Baht.

For the moment the entertainment is simply not worth it. But at least there are signs of ambition that they may one day justify the high end prices. In the meantime they need a few more girls wearing a few less clothes and sporting a few less inhibitions in customer relations.

  Review April 2009: Nearly Traditional

The bar is still going strong providing a venue on Soi 6 where you can go in without selecting a girl out front. Especially good on those days when there doesn't seem anyone who quite fits the bill, but you really would like a cold beer.

Betty Boup is more or less a traditional gogo except that maybe the girls are angling for short time rather than long time.

There are generally 4 or 5 girls on the stage in gogo skirts and bikini top. The girls have recently proved forgetful in terms of knickers.

The beer and drinks are priced at a friendly level.

So given that most of the gogo elements are good, and that the girls can be quite hands on, fun should be assured. But in reality it is very much up to how you click with the girl on your lap. Some girls can be a bit pushy and some can give up a bit quick if a rapid short time is not on the cards. But somehow that is the Soi 6 rub. One simply has to enjoy the moment and if it doesn't work, then you can look forward to the next try.

  Review Nov 2008: End of the Run

Betty Boup does me proud as somewhere to pull up for a beer, should no-one else attract my attention when running the Soi 6 gauntlet.

But somehow it rarely captures me to stay for very long. The bar seems jam packed with pretty girls, but somehow they always find a few oldies to offer to 'take care' of me.

If you don't succeed in finding a suitable girl to 'take care' then the entertainment is pretty minimal. Just 4 or 5 girls shuffling and overdressed in bikinis.

The bar is basically sound, the drinks are reasonable and there isn't any undue hassle. If only the pretty girls would jump on my lap, then I would think it was the best bar in North Pattaya.

  Review March 2008: Wide Range of Girls

Betty Boup always seems to have a fair few customers so it must be doing something right.

The bar is basically a short time bar. But the method of selecting a girl is far superior to the Soi 6 norm of momentary glance as you walk past. At Betty Boup you can relax a little before making up your mind. You can have a drink and a look around with out committing. And even watch the dancing.

The girls are generally fun on your lap, but of course are pretty quick to suggest retiring upstairs.

There's a wide range of girls in the bar, both in looks and outlook.

I've had a very mixed bag of good times and not so good in the bar but it is always worth a return visit.

  Review July 2007: Lady Drink Hassle

In the interests of balance, the bar was discussed on the Pattaya forums and the consensus was that there are way too many pushy ladies in the bar. As I know at least one very pushy girl who fits the bill, then I feel this should be recorded.

  Review June 2007: Couch Dancing

The mix of gogo and short time seems to be working well and the bar is now very popular.

Popularity always brings in the girls so there must now be about 30 girls at the bar. And of course there are a fair few that are well pretty.

The dancing on stage is pretty coy and bikinis are the rule, although a little audience encourage may shed a few inhibitions. The girl dance for a reasonably short stint of 3 or 4 songs. Sometimes, maybe when there are enough girls, those with lady drinks get excused dancing.

The real selling point of course is the soi 6 couch dancing. Plenty of intimate fun for all.

My only quibble to date is the one of the girls gets the Thai Anxiety award for the most unreasonable lady drink hassle in all of Pattaya.

    Review Oct 2006: Prim & Proper

This is a pleasantly presented bar that is operated like a small Walking Street GoGo rather than the half way gogos, Kiss Kool & Mandarin.

In particular the girls are dotted about the bar rather than waiting outside for pick up as per the soi 6 norm.

There were a dozen girls in the bar of which 4 were dancing a 4 song stint. It is all a bit prim and proper with all girls being clad in skirt, knickers and a bikini top. There were a couple of large ladies but a couple of attractive girls too.

Comfortable bench seating is the norm but there are stools surrounding the central stage. The music is for oldie farangs but the girls did enjoy a selection of Thai songs.

The girls were also being a bit prim when entertaining customers with not much sign of the customary soi 6 diddling. Of course short time rooms are convenient though.

I had a pleasant hour there and had the impression that I may have departed before the fun starts. Someone had just presented the girls with a bottle of Sang Som. The bar has the good policy of excusing girls dancing duty when being plied with lady drinks.

The drinks prices are clearly set out on a menu on each table.

  Review Feb 2009: Happy Atmosphere

And the atmosphere was happy. The mamasang was doing a great job fixing up the customers with girls.

Strange German music though, heavy style but somehow was quite bouncy.

  Review Nov 2008: Just Don't Expect a BJ

The BJ Club is so named as it is located on Soi BJ as opposed to the more obvious meaning to the name.

Anyway the bar has just converted to an A-GoGo. Its last appearance was as a coyote bar/night club.

Of course the first problem will be persuade customers to venture down a soi unfortunately guarded by lady boys in the bar next door who can sometimes be a bit of pest when touting for business. I was told that BJ Club has made an arrangement  such that they don't hassle customers bound for BJ Club.

The club is quite large for the currently small operation with about 8 dancers on show.

The girls were hands on friendly and most of the bar policies seem customer friendly. The drinks prices are reasonable (typical cheap end draft price) and lady drinks are 100 Baht. Bar fines are 500 Baht.

Half the girls were dancing, bikini clad or topless but they only dance for a short stint so will soon be back when it is their turn to dance.

The bar has found a couple of pretty girls to do a licky feely lesbian show,

The mamasang was doing a very good job of corralling her girls to best advantage for the girls and customers.

There was a service girl who was undoing the good hostessing of the mamasang by hassling for tips and drinks for both herself and way too quickly on behalf of the dancers.

The music selection was pretty typical but the guys in the driving seat looked to be enjoying playing with their mixer toys.

I enjoyed the visit. It makes a big difference when the girls and management are enthusiastic to make a good first impression.

But will they be able to persuade people down a dead end, lady boy guarded soi?

  Review March 2009: Noisy

The bar layout is pretty much the same as used by the previous occupants Taboo. A large centre stage with a couple of small dance stages closer to the seating.

There a couple of new additions in a Jacuzzi and a swimming tank. Both unused during my visit. There's also a dance cage as per Peppermint.

The bar had a perfectly good line up of girls for the opening night, perhaps easier than some start ups because the owners are already operating upstairs and can demonstrate having a few customers.

There were probably a dozen girls organised into two alternating teams. The girls were mostly bikini clad but a couple took off their tops suggesting that bikini is the girls preference rather than bar policy.

The seating has comfortable sofas around the outside of the bar and a few stools stage side. I'm not sure the sofas will prove very efficient though, as they are arranged into bays with 4 seats very close together. I guess that a single customer will end up occupying all 4, as a 2nd customer would definitely be invading personal space.

The music is a downer for an oldie like me as it was too loud to allow easy conversation. This hasn't stopped the likes of Casnovy from being popular though.

However the noise also caused a problem for service as the girl inevitably misheard my order. Knowing the usual Pattaya bar reticence for incorrect orders to be righted, unless at the expense of the customer or the service girl, I was a bit on edge. However the problem was happily resolved without hassle.

There was no draft beer available and bottled beer was 120 Baht. I always feel this is way too expensive unless one is assured of more personal entertainment than shuffling gogo dancers. But an old friend I knew from another bar jumped on my lap, so all was well and I enjoyed a few drinks before feeling the need to escape the noise.

  Review April 2009: Water Fun

The bar is beginning to grow on me as I usually find a few pretty girls happy to spend a few drinks with. It is a bar that is quite hands on but not entirely. It is down to the girl what sort of interaction is in order.

The bar has a team of dancers on quite a long circuit of the central stage and then a couple of songs on one of the table dancing stages. There are usually more girls hostessing than dancing which is good in my books.

There is also a team of showgirls who play in the Jacuzzi, two at a time. They can be quite naughty and there are stools by the side for customers who like to take a close look.

There are good prices on drinks.

I've had a couple of issues with service girls being a bit hasty and pushy to get lady drinks in. But on the whole the service is fine.

In anticipation of a busy high season, the Blue Lagoon A-GoGo has replace a significant amount of bench seating with stools. The benches along the long walls have now gone but rather counter to usual practise there are still stage side benches.

  Review Nov 2008: Water Features

The bar puts most of the factors in place to make for a good bar. There is cheap beer, some pretty girls and a mixture of entertainments such as a Jacuzzi.

Perhaps the location is just a little too far back to make for a very popular gogo, but I have enjoyed a few visits to the bar.

About 4 girls dance on the central stage, 2 more on side stages and another 2 or 3 continually soap themselves in the 2 Jacuzzis. This takes up about half the girls on duty which is about ok.

I think the bar is trying for afternoon opening but that is based on a conversation with little shared language ability.

  Review Feb 2008: A Change of Door

Since I last visited the door has switched from being on the right hand side looking from the beach to the left hand side. It seems a pretty extensive change for very little effect on the bar.

The bar seemed to have lost a little of the recent lively upswing but maybe it was just unlucky timing. My regular girls had moved on to pastures new but the potential replacements were a bit underwhelming for me. But still they were friendly enough and the beer is still cheap.

If a pretty girl were to jump into my lap then this bar would surely rate as a good bar. But as there were no girls so obliging, then it rates as one worth a quick look next time.

  Review Oct 2007: Enlivened

The bar seems to have improved of late with the addition of  a Jacuzzi show, stage shows and some naked table dancing in the corners.

And indeed this was accompanied by an improvement in customer numbers. And whenever customers turn up then so do a few pretty girls.

In fact a  couple of show girls showed up for a chat and they proved to be amenable company.

For the sake of 40 Baht for a draft Chang (other drafts are available at 60 Baht), then the bar provides very good value for money. It is just a bit of a pity that bar hasn't got enough cash left over to pay for lights. Some of the shows are so dark as to be near pointless.

  Review June 2009: Pretty Girls

I heard rumours that some of the girls that had previously moved on from Coyotee's A-GoGo had ended up in By-Blos. And indeed, the downstairs bar is now boasting 10 or so very pretty girls. I can't say I recognised any of them though.

They also have made a good improvement in that some of the girls now dance naked.

I was also intrigued by the booth that was curtained off, surely looks a promising idea.

I would have stayed longer but the girls didn't seem to be overly interested in customers and the 65 Baht draft beer was a bit off. But interesting enough to schedule in another visit.

  Review December 2008: Bells and More Bells

I was ushered in to the ground floor bar with half a dozen coyote dancers. I am afraid I associate excess clothes with an excess of prices and an excess of unfriendly attitude, so I back pedalled and opted to go upstairs.

I did note that it seems strange to have different styles of entertainment on different floors when none of the staff pointed out available options. I didn't spot any signs suggesting that there was a gogo upstairs either. One presumes that the welcome staff think they know best where to guide people.

Upstairs the bar was well into a bells and whistles shows And if you like that sort of thing, then this bar seems to do the complete works with every variation on the theme that I have seen to date. It was interminable with not a single act being anywhere near sexy.

There were dancers waiting in the wings but the tedium of the show predictably got to me first.

Draft beer was a reasonable 65 Baht and the service was good. No hassle from the girls either.

It seems that the bar hasn't proved a long term hit with Pattaya farangs and the bar is now targeting customers using touts on 2nd Road. This tends to attract a more Middle Eastern/South Asian customer base than the Walking Street norm.

  Review Jan 2007: Pulling My Leg

I was perusing the Pattaya forums and one particular bar put down caught my eye. The wordsmith referred to the girls of Byblos A-GoGo as 'tractor pullers'.

Somehow the phrase struck home as an almost poetic insult. I was well impressed. But I also feel it is a little uncalled for.

Byblos is maybe a little too small to make much impact, but they have some very friendly girls and staff. I have had a couple of very pleasant visits indeed.

The girls that I have met at Byblos have previously been at Windmill and Baby Dolls, so surely a good pedigree.

I don't know about pulling tractors though. I think someone is pulling my plonker. And the girls of Byblos are very much better at it than any old Pattaya forum poster.

  Review Oct 2007: Going Up

The latest addition to Pattaya's gogos may be found upstairs at Byblos Club on Soi Diamond.

It is a small bar but it is attractively decorated with stylish lighting. There is comfortable seating and central elevated walkway acting as a stage.

There were 3 or 4 girls dancing and another half dozen available to entertain customers. Some girls were topless and some were wearing a substantial top as if for a cabaret show. The girls didn't really stand out but it always takes time and success for a bar to snag the good lookers.

There is also a show but my visit was too early to catch it.

The drinks prices were very reasonable and there's a happy hour. The service girls were familiar as they were a couple of fun girls previously working at Windmill.

There seems no reason why the bar shouldn't find a niche but there is always the obstacle of the stairs that tends to prove a problem for bars.

  Review April 2009: Still Around

One of the more conservative gogos in Pattaya that has stood the test of time, although I am not entirely sure why.

The circular stage slowly rotates with half a dozen dancers onboard. Most girls were bikini clad and a couple were topless. Probably an average team for Walking Street which means that you will always find a few to fit the bill.

The bar has shows but I somehow I missed them this time round. Without the shows, the bar is a bit forgettable. Basically sound but with little negatives such as male service staff, not quite enough comfortable seating and not quite enough customers for atmosphere.

I was a little set in my ways and had more or less decided on a quick visit as soon as I ordered my beer. With the benefit of hindsight I think I should have stayed a little longer to have fun with a perky slip of a girl who breezed my way. She caught me being a bit of a Mr Grumpy.

The bar does not seem to have progressed in the long time since my last visit.

It is never a good start to a visit to be shown to the uncomfortable stools because the dancers are occupying all the available bench seating.

This doesn't improve much when my drinks order is taken by male service staff.

Hardly a bargain draft beer either at 75 Baht for a small glass.

The girls are organised into 3 dancing shift. 2 sets of gogo dancers and a team of about 4 pretty girls that do the show. The show is sexy, but nothing that puts the bar above the competition. The gogo dancing is also pretty standard topless fare.

I didn't spot any of the girls circulating amongst the customers when waiting to dance. This was leaving a rather listless atmosphere amongst the few lonely looking customers.

Seems about time to get a Jacuzzi installed and to employ a few lively lap dancers.

  Review Nov 2007: Small Glasses

A brief visit to check out any changes brought about by a new manager. I detected that the dancing girls may have become a little more animated than usual.

But the only real change I noted, was that draft beer had increased in price from 65 Baht to 75 Baht. This actually makes for a very expensive beer as the glasses are very small.

This puts the bar in the top ten in Pattaya in terms of expensive beer but it certainly isn't top ten material in terms of shows, girls or sexiness. It is a middling bar, living on past glories and is simply poor value when charging premium prices.

But that does not mean you won't find an attractive girl here, there are a few around the bar. The dancing girls operate in two teams with maybe 8 on the stage at one time. The dancing is punctuated by pleasantly erotic shows.

Minor gripes are the male service staff and the lack of comfortable seating being exasperated by the resting girls claiming a lot of it.

Maybe there was a good explanation but the girls were all dancing in bikinis. Wasn't really particularly entertaining and there weren't many girls circulating the bar for a chat.

Whilst drinking my rather small draft beer I noticed one girl who I knew from a while ago. She had aged rather obviously and was still dancing on the same stage in the same bar with the same lacklustre shuffle. She rather characterises the whole Carousel GoGo.

  Review June 2009: With a Little Help from my Friends

I had read a couple of forum postings that Casnovy had declined a little. The bar still seemed to be doing fine to me but saying that the dancers that I know there were nowhere to be seen.

But all was not lost, I know service girls there too, and I was soon set up with an attractive replacement. She proved good company and so I had a good session.

The bar has plenty of girls both dancing and on hostess duty. Chatting to my service friend it seems that service staff aren't allowed to sit with customers. I thought this was a bit strange as there well enough servers to cover for a couple staff taking time out to sit with the customers.

Beer prices are reasonable and the music wasn't quite so loud as during previous visits.

So still on my list of gogos well worth a visit.

  Review Jan 2009: Upward Path

The mix of very loud music, a massive staff and reasonable drinks prices put Casnovy on the top tier, especially over the busy season. The bar seems very lively at the moment.

Maybe they have so many staff and girls that it would still seem lively with no customers.

The pattern is table dancing on the 2 side rows of tables and dancers alternating with naked showgirls on the central stage.

Perhaps the music volume is set a bit high for a long visit but it is an integral part of the bars atmosphere, so it is surely here to stay. I did meet one girl who left the bar as it made her ears ache though.

I've sometimes thought that the showgirls are a little fussy about sitting with customers but after getting to know them I get well looked after now.

And you still get the cheeriest good bye in all of Pattaya's bars.

  Review Sept 2008: Hearty Good Byes

There have been a few good words mentioned about the bar of late so I stopped by to have a look.

The drinks prices were fine and the service was good. Plenty of staff on hand to keep things ticking over efficiently.

Strangely nothing much had changed since my last visit. There were an awful lot of dancers on the tables at once, 15 I think. They were dancing 6 songs, 2 on each row of tables.

There were quite a range of girls and some were pretty. But only one took her top off.

None of the girls seemed to making much effort on schmoozing front and the pretty ones would vanish to the upstairs changing room after they had done their stint.

As before as soon as I gave up on the less than friendly girls, every staff member I passed on the way out gave me a cheery good bye. Pity they cant get the same enthusiasm to rub off on the dancing girls.

  Review, Jan 2007: Welcome...

Casnovy A-GoGo is pulling out all the stops to welcome customers to the bar. Patrons are greeted by an avenue of red gowned lovelies all programmed to say a few words of welcome.

The cheery doorman is equally welcoming as he passes you on to the gracious service staff who see you to your seat. Orders are then taken efficiently and promptly.

But having received your drink then you are on your own... literally! All the spare dancing girls were huddled in the corner whilst the customers were sitting on their lonesome.

Not a big issue, sometimes things click, and sometimes they don't. On this occasion the spare girls were hiding and the dancing girls weren't catching the eye.

So after downing the drink I decided to make a rapid departure.

Suddenly the staff return to hospitality mode. In the space of the short walk to the door, I was sought out by 2 mamasangs wishing me well. The door man was equally effusive with his thanks and the gauntlet of girls in red all chimed in with a friendly wave good bye.

The best welcome in Walking street and the most heartfelt good byes, but so little effort to provide reasons to stay.

They have turned the music volume down a bit though. The bar is surely worth another visit

I popped in to Casnovy (stupid name!), and it was not at all bad. Some lookers, and a lot knickerless and topless dancing.

Looks a lot like the Beach Club, but with a central stage as well. But as others have noted the music was LOUD. Won't be a regular hang-out for me, but will go once in a while.

  Review Oct 2007: Loud Table Dancing

A large new table dancing gogo has been built on Walking Street next door to Voodoo.

A first glance revealed that the bar was well packed with people, but the second glance revealed that they were mostly staff. The bar have really gone to town with the number of dancing girls and service staff that they have hired.

There were about 12 girls dancing at any one time. There are 3 rows of tables with 4 dancing positions on each row. (Plenty more space for even more dancers if required).

The dress code was bikini top, short flimsy skirt and knickers. As is often the case on opening, the bar isn't in serious competition with the likes of Peppermint for its girls. But there were several very pretty girls amongst the crowd.

The biggest defining characteristic of the bar is the music. It is very loud and very dance. It surely sets your seat vibrating.

The beer price was set at a sensible 50 Baht and the owners are well established notable for the Blue Sky Bars on Walking Street. It should be interesting to see if loud table dancing will find a niche in Walking Street.

I had a closer look on my way past last night and the best guess I can come up with is that it's a ladyboy club with a couple of girl decoys, which I couldn't begin to explain. Perhaps its for comparison purposes?

They are definitely mostly ladyboys but at least a couple of the talent must be girls, they're just too short and ordinary looking to be boys.

  Review May 2009: Well Behaved

There are many good things about Catz and I regularly pop by for a quick beer.

The bar now offers very competitive drinks prices and barfines. It has a fair amount of girls generally above average and the service staff are friendly and generally hassle free.

The toilets are also hassle free and sufficient for the size of bar.

So all in all I would characterise the bar as one of the good boys of Walking Street.

But of course Pattaya customers are not always after the well behaved, and want something a little 'badder'.

  Review December 2008: Non Event

Catz seems to have become something of a non event.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the bar in many ways though. There are usually a few pretty girls dancing, the drinks are reasonable, the decor is attractive, there's no hassle and there are usually a few friendly expats having a chat down the back.

But there is nothing particularly positive about the bar either. The girls aren't hands on friendly, there's no sexy show (unless for special occasions) and there's no play stage or Jacuzzi.

I always find the really downer is that when the girls go dance, they dance for 5 loooong dance music tracks and there's simply not enough entertainment to entice one to stay.

I used to drop by for a nightcap but when the bar gets depleted of girls, the remainder are nearly all dancing leaving little chance of even a chat.

Still a bar that has a good turnover of pretty girls can't be all bad.

  Review by Ray, March 2008: Once is Enough

Catz is a well presented bar at the smaller end of the scale although not as small as some. It is set out as a classic "shoebox" go-go with comfortable bench seating down both sides and a narrow island stage in the middle. The bench on the right is sub-divided into three booths but they are too large to be considered private having two tables each.

There are about fifteen average girls, a couple eye-catching, a couple less so. The dance roster is one-on one-off with over half the girls on stage at a time. There are no shows.

My first visit was initially off-putting, the girls weren't showing at all and they all seemed to be wearing Morality Ministry issue customerproof knickers. However the girl that volunteered to take care of me was willing to show me anything I liked once the ladydrink was ordered so the on-stage modesty was probably just because the police were on the prowl.

My second visit went completely the other way. This time the girls were showing and the customerproof knickers were gone but so, apparently, was the warm welcome. I bought a girl a ladydrink but when the girl I had spoken to previously came off stage and came over, the first girl just walked off. The girl who had entertained me before knocked back a couple of ladydrinks and went back on stage without making much of an effort, and I got the distinct impression I wasn't supposed to come back.

I could have just been unlucky in my choice of girls but they didn't seem to want to entertain or be bar-fined, although they were happy to take the ladydrinks. I felt my money was welcome but I wasn't. Tellingly, on neither visit did the bar have more than a handful of customers, none of whom were being particularly well entertained.

One visit to Catz is quite enough.

  Review by polleke Oct 2007: Hoping Times Get Better

Went in 10pm on Friday evening. Appeared to be the only customer. I was immediately attacked by 2 girls that weren't my choice. I politely send them away, no problem.

There were about 16 average girls on duty, 2 of them a bit more pretty. Some of the girls were topless.

I called one of the more pretty girls over but she hardly spoke any English. So I sat there a boring 10 minutes before the girl had to go to dance.

Time for me to check bin and leave. Bin was 185 Baht for a bottle of Heineken and a lady drink.

Hope times get better for the bar and this night was only an incident.

  Review Sep 2007: Capacity Challenged

Catz must surely be the best of the smaller gogo bars in Pattaya. Small bars generally have a troubled time as it doesn't take many customers for the bar to be too full (not enough girls to go around). Conversely when a few customers depart then the bar seems a bit empty and dead. Similarly if several girls are barfined then there are quickly too few to effectively staff the bar.

I have been a regular visitor of late but most of the time the bar has been been a little too quiet and I have only stayed for a single beer. The girls don't seem so interested in having a chat  and this seems to leave customers looking bored.

The police crackdown probably hits smaller bars hard. Larger bars can entertain with plenty of different things going on providing lots of distraction. Smaller bars have little left but bikini clad shuffling.

Catz needs to realise that their visual entertainment is not what is was. Perhaps an alternative entertainment is to ensure that customers have a girl on their lap or at least have a girl to chat to.

  Review March 2007: Constant

Catz scores consistently good marks for the attractive bar and attractive girls. There are enough girls to ensure that company is readily available if required.

The shows are sexy enough but maybe not quite keeping up with some of the naughtiness going down in other bars.

I have rarely seen the bar crowded though which I put down to the oldie farang friendly music. The music may be appreciated by the customers but it discourages the girls from generating a high energy atmosphere as they simply do not get enthused by rock.

Still I am happy for the bar to stay as it is

  Review March 2009: Poor Ratios

This is gogo that maybe best reviewed by somebody else. I consistently find nothing to keep me amused whilst noting that the bar seems to be quite popular.

I guess the difference is that I like to chat and play with the girls whereas the majority of customers are content to watch.

There are several options for watching, there are overdressed coyote dancers on the side tables and there are a fair few dancers on the main stage generally topless or bikini clad. Perhaps about average as dancing teams go, but that always means there are a few that pass muster. They dance more songs than is comfortable to wait for you (should you be lucky enough to get a girl in the first place)

There are also a couple of show stages that are a little more worth watching.

Thinking about it, for me there really is just one problem with the bar, there are too many girls set to dancing and not enough making an effort for lady drinks and bar fines.

  Review from Materialsman, Nov 2008: Uncle Festus

When we walked in I glanced down to the bottom left, and there was what appeared to be a very large LCD screen showing a sort of British soft porn movie involving an Uncle Festus lookalike cavorting naked in a bathtub with two naked Thai girls and a sex toy fashioned out of pipe lagging, it was only when I got closer I realized that it was actually a live spontaneous show. The reason I had assumed it was British soft porn was the fact that no matter how hard the girls were trying to instill some life into Festers flaccid member, it was to no avail, perhaps he needed ‘Thing’ to give him another helping hand? Actually, I do have some sympathy with the guy, sympathy which he later lost incidentally, as public sex is not for everyone. So we settled in to watch the action on stage, but also with a morbid and perverse curiosity to view what was happening in the shower behind us.

After we had ordered a couple of Heinekens I noticed an LED display saying buy one get one free on bottled beers between 8-9 p.m., sadly we were in there at 9:30, no big deal as I am not a Cheap Charlie, but I thought I should mention it as it is a pretty good deal.

As for the girls on stage, a pretty mixed bunch of perhaps twenty five girls ranging from naked to bikini clad, youngish to fairly grizzled old pros, a lot of the girls seemed bizarrely to be wearing a single stocking, what’s that all about? Perhaps Heather Mills McCartney was having a garage sale of her lingerie collection before she moved out of Paul’s place??

In keeping with the Addams family theme, one of the mamasans, quite a big strong lady, appeared to be a cross between Morticia and Grandmama Addams, quite scary! Whilst the other mamasan was really quite a pleasant looking lady, nice body if I may say so, looked damn good in tight jeans. Whilst enjoying my second beer in there, I can report that luckily the two girls in the shower had finally tired of trying to inspire Uncle Festus into more salacious activities, and they had all returned thankfully fully dressed to the main auditorium, unfortunately Uncle Festus had retained the piece of wet pipe lagging and proceeded to act out his BDSM fantasies by incessantly whipping any naked flesh that come into his view, I know that these toys do not hurt anyway near as much as it sounds like when making good contact with flesh, but the constant repetitive sound of him administering a damn good thrashing to the ladies whilst standing directly next to me hastened our exit, before I was obliged to tale the bloody thing off of him and stuff it right where the sun doesn’t shine! On second thoughts, it was a good job I didn’t do so, he probably would have enjoyed it!

I must also make a mention of one other guy in there, sadly in a wheelchair with a disability, think of Steven Hawkins, yet he was having an absolute whale of a time, swigging beer and Tequilas, he had one of the best looking girls in there keeping him company, plus the mamasans were taking good care of him, and he had a huge grin on his face, good luck to you mate, after all, isn’t it moments like that that make Pattaya such a special place for us all?

  Review June 2008: Building Back Up

The 30 day closure a couple of months ago hit the bar rather hard. Obviously the closure itself hurt but then it was followed by a quiet month whilst the bar gathered back the girls and the customers.

There are now about 15-20 girls in attendance with about 7 dancing at any one time. About half the dancers were topless and the rest bikini clad. The girls were fairly average with a couple of pretty girls. I made a quick exit when approached by a near 50 year old dancer though.

There were a fair few customers but it is not yet quite back to the levels before the closure.

Drinks prices are reasonable and music is fairly restrained. The dance rota of 7 songs is way too long if you are waiting for your girl to 'go dance'. It then becomes a cue to go and have a look at Oasis just around the corner.

It is a fairly relaxed bar, perhaps targeting local residents rather than those on a flying visit.

The owner of champagne A-GoGo has confirmed that champagne will be closed for 30 days for a minor licence infringement.

He said that the police had given him some time to sort out the licence problem without any closure, but a bit of lip from the staff meant a 30 day closure.

So Champagne is set to open in about 3 weeks time (24th April). In the meantime, there are just 77 girl gogos operating at the moment.

  Review January 2009: Busy

The cheap beer policy and a recent refurb seem to be working well for the bar and it has been busy for the last few months.

Table dancing stages have been added in amongst the bench seating along the sides of the bar. The central stage has been slimmed down and is also a bit more stylish now.

There is a lot of emphasis on dancing nude. and just for tradition the bar have also retained the TVs showing blue movies. The music is still oldie farang friendly.

The bar has always been notable for ladies who been around awhile, and true to form, many familiar faces were still in attendance. However the popularity of the bar has allowed them to supplement their dancers with a fair amount of pretty girls.

I rather suspect that the girls get a good deal from the bar as they do tend to stay a long time.

The bar is well run with good service and no undue hassle. So it is good to see that they have established a good customer base. So much so that they have recently been able to increase their main draft beer price up to 50 Baht. Still amongst the best in town.

I still hanker after the long lost old days though, the bar used to be one of the seediest and naughtiest in town.

  Review June 2008: Still Cheap Beer

The bar often seems to have more custom than I would have predicted from the entertainment on offer.

It is quite a large bar to just rely on basic gogo dancing. There are no shows, Jacuzzis, soft stages or anything of the like.

The girls are generally on the mature side, but this is not a dictate, just the average. There are still a few girls that are easy on the eye.

Of course the very cheap draft beer must help a bit in getting customers through the door. Also a large proportion of the dancers are naked, which helps too.

Although the bar is Thai owned, there is no undue hassle from either the girls or staff.

In fact it is quite a pleasant bar to have a quick drink in. It could be rather a good bar if they could only attract a few more young ladies. (And maybe improve the loo too).

  Review Nov 2007: Cheap Beer

The bar has never recovered from the facelift a year ago. The rather dingy back area used to be a haven for the touchy feely stuff but this has now been replaced by a second dancing stage.

The old petting area used to be fun and one would forgive the fact that the dancing crew are a little beyond their sell by date.

But now the bar struggles basically because it retains the below average line up of girls but has not retained the fun.

Otherwise there does not seem much wrong with bar. There is farang friendly rock music, girls that dance in birthday suits and the cheapest draft in Walking Street (40 Baht for a decent sized glass).

But they really really really need to get a few more attractive girls on stage.

I admit that the seating drawbacks noted. Also the diversity of the dress and entertainment seems a bit bizarre, yet somehow it all seems to work in the end.

But the dancers are regularly bar-fined. One day just this week there were only 5 left at 2AM; the servers were pressed into service as dancers.

C2 seems to be a late nite venue. Nothing much seems to be going on before 10pm and things pick-up rapidly thereafter.

Somehow this place seems to flourish.

  Review April 2009: Large Classes

I am struggling a little bit with this venue, it never seems to click.

I wandered it an early hour and there weren't more than a handful of customers in but somehow there was nowhere left to sit. The venue is really quite large and it has not scaled down very well. Without the table dancing in operation there are an awful lot of seats that are simply too far away from the action now confined to the central stage and Jacuzzi. There are also a couple of other bays of seating that simply aren't pointed in the right direction.

There were quite a few dancers covering quite a range attractiveness and quite a range of coverage too. Some were topless yet some were well overdressed in skirts, knickers, bras and blouses.

The draft beer was cheap and the service staff were friendly.

I am always happy to pop in and give it a try but rarely has it persuaded me to stay long.

Well, time was moving on apace, so it was time for a trip down memory lane and The Classroom 2 A Go-Go in Soi 2 where I have had many a happy time over the years. Walked in to a fairly quiet establishment, but the line up was pretty reasonable, and a lithe lovely soaping herself in a Jacuzzi type bath. Actually, I wondered to myself after watching her soap herself squeaky clean for over an hour, ‘If I paid the bar for her, would she come back to ‘my loom’ and insist on another shower, if so, why?’

Well, we enjoyed the schoolgirl clad dancers, when suddenly the music changed and the good lookers ran off stage and the ‘showgirls’ appeared. When did Classroom2 become a ‘bells and whistles’ pussy show bar? So, we sat through a couple of shows, including ‘pussy smoke cigarette’ show, which took me by surprise as I thought smoking was banned in air conditioned bars? Smoking was definitely bad for this particular girl’s health, as she appeared to be smoking two or three at a time! Thankfully, this show wasn’t too long, as whatever hidden talents this girl obviously has, being slim and a looker wasn’t amongst them.

The bar had started to fill up by then, a party of bemused looking Asians, and a gang of loud Aussie back-backers had come in off the street, but that was the pattern of events, a couple of songs for the dancing girls, then show time again. To my eternal shame, one of the mamasans identified me as being an old time Pattaya monger, and roped me in for a bit of audience participation due to lack of interest from the other attendees, so yours truly got pushed up on stage for both the ‘pussy shoots darts at balloon’ show, and the ‘pussy fires bananas’ show, which culminated in the last banana being fired out after I had retaken my seat and wasn’t ready for it leaving me with a couple of nasty looking white sticky stains to both my shirt and trousers, much to the amusement of my drinking buddy.

Drinks I think were a strangely priced 106 baht a bottle, which I guess is okay considering the show, but a little pressure for ‘tips’ was prevalent after each extravaganza, though I tried to protest that I should actually receive my share of the tips for my ‘performance’, but to no avail. I don’t begrudge the poor girl her tips, she probably doesn’t get much in the way of bar fines.

So off we went out of the door, and the girl in the Jacuzzi was still soaping herself up, trying to find and cleanse body orifices she had previously missed. Overall the place was okay, but I preferred the old style of purely dancing girls, don’t need to see the pussy shows as I am a jaded ex-pat, but it may suit some.

  Review June 2008: Put to Shame

The bars seems to be very much a mixed bag. The bar was pretty quiet when I stopped by, but a friendly service girl told me but it was very crowded the night before (Pattaya bars are often crowded yesterday and tomorrow but never today)

The girls were also very mixed in attire. There was one beautifully built girl dancing topless, but most of the others were wearing skirts and blouses, and in many cases, bras too. I am wondering if the large chested girl should be asked to cover up. I have a theory that the others were overdressed because they were put to shame by the beauty,

The drinks prices were quite constrained and the music was forgettable which is better than being loud.

No real reason why the bar shouldn't make for a good visit, but as none of the girls felt like being friendly to me, I didn't stay long. Nearby Soi 6 is way too inviting for this bar to be anything less than great.

Classroom 2  just recently reopened after a 30-day time-out penalty by the local boys in brown.

It is obvious that they are suffering quite a hang-over from that event. Everything was under cover. Except for periodic short 2-song "shows" where the gals ended up nekkid, nothing was showing.

Another odd observation is that fully half of all the customers entered the bar with a lady in tow. There must be a message there somewhere but I have no idea what it is. Seems like a place to avoid until the hang-over wears off.

Club Boesché is  running a promotion which started Friday reducing barfine prices AFTER 2AM to 400 baht for all dancers, showgirls, hostesses and service.

The bar has now taken on 2 new mamasans which have stockpiled the bar with 24 additional dancers this past week and include many many beauties.

The bar is overloaded with girls at the moment so they are taking the opportunity to keep the customers happy.  Maybe explaining why business has really picked up this past month.

When a good friend of mine first told me of a place where we could down cold suds and watch tight-bodied women soap each other up (among other things…) in the middle of a Go-Go Bar, I was actually nervous to go… Even with all the anticipation it took us three days into our April 2008 trip to make it to the famous Club Boesche. Letting the excitement build was well worth it. WOW!! What a night… The club was packed, the girls were super hot and they actually had some drink specials going on. The music? Umm… Can’t say I even remember what kind was playing… More like a loud rumble than music but, it sure kept the girls moving…

…And with a little encouragement from our group, the ladies we were with actually stripped down and hopped in the hot tub… Two of them weren’t even on shift! Since it was early for me (9PM), no bar fines from Boesche that night but, I did set my sites on one of the hostesses who wouldn’t stop massaging me while I checked out the sites and enjoyed my drinks… “Bar fine next time” I told her.

…Next time ended up being almost four months later! But this time Boesche had almost nothing to offer… The club was dead, the available girls seemed distracted and the hot tub show consisted of a girl pretty much soaking her feet. We were so bummed… And I actually had raved about this place to the group of newbies I brought with me this time. Being newbies they didn’t have as nearly a bad time as I did. I attributed the lack of interest from the girls to us visiting during low season in August but, we were welcomed generously at other places that same night. We even gave it another shot a couple nights later but, same deal… Good looking but, same bored talent.

  Review November 2008: Less for More

I find this a bar that doesn't quite live up to the Pattaya hype. In fairness it must be reported that the bar has a lot of fans, although it doesn't quite crop up in conversation as much as it used to.

The first negative that hits me is the lack of comfy seating. There are a couple of benches but they don't really have much of a view of the dancers. I also get the impression they may be 'reserved' for favoured guests. The rest of the customers have to put up with uncomfortable stools.

The rather cheesy dance music is perhaps on the loud side. Something I only really notice if there isn't enough other entertainment.

I find the girls to be on the unfriendly side, seeming to prefer their own company to that of the customers. However that is not always the case, just depends who is in the bar at the time. If there are no friendly girls, the dancing is pretty average, although I have seem a couple of talented dancers who command an audience.

Generally OK but I find it simply does not justify the high end drinks prices.

  Review by Ray, March 2007: GoGo US Style

Three Baby Dolls have moved to this bar and I popped in to see how they were doing. I'd never been in here before and found it perfectly OK. However, I was being taken care of by girls I already knew, so on my second visit I tried to look at the bar more objectively.

The first thing I noticed was that most customers were sitting in groups chatting to each other and I started to get a TQ2 vibe. The girls confirmed to me that there was little hands-on going on because the customers didn't want it, not because the girls didn't, and that lady drinks were hard to come by.

The mother of all jacuzzis is a also bit of a disappointment, being set low in the floor right at the back of the bar, and as the doormen will inevitably show you to a stool at the front you could visit the bar several times and not realise it was there.

The stage is unusually large, having eleven poles in 3-2-4-2 formation. I found myself thinking of them as defenders, midfield, front line and wingers. On several occasions the poles were not all occupied. There is a glass floor above the stage and occasionally a couple of girls would go up there and lark about.

The girls are a pretty ordinary bunch, a few outstanding but mostly pretty average. On my first visit three or four girls were dancing naked, on my second they were all bikinied up. I heard a rumour in the previous bar I visited that the police were on the prowl and maybe that was why, but on neither visit did the bar look remotely like the photo on the web site.

With its average girls, mostly voyeuristic customers and superfluous "security", Club Boesche is what a Walking Street go-go would look like if you transplanted it to the US.

  Review by Serigala, Jan 2007: Lack of Interaction

My wife and I went here on the recommendation of a couple friends of ours. They maintained that it was “their favourite place” and had short timed a jacuzzi girl.

We were ushered in and, as has been mentioned by others before, directed straight to the jacuzzi area where we were seated at bar stools. Jacuzzi was occupied by three girls, one of which was reasonable. Occasional licking took place but always the same licker and lickee. The third girl needn’t have been there. We quickly got bored and turned our attention to the stage. Around ten girls shuffling about the poles with a total lack of enthusiasm. Clothing was bikinis, skirt and top or shorts and top.

One girl did actually decide to get a bit lively and dance. However, as she couldn’t take her eyes off the mirror, we assumed it was only for her own benefit.

As others have reported, there seems to be a total lack of interaction here and, apart from a smile from a service girl, we’re sure that the girls here wouldn’t have noticed whether there were customers present or not.

Considering our poor appraisal of Boesche, others seemed to be happy with the offerings as the place was quite crowded.

One expensive drink and left.

  Review March 2009: Settling In

The bar has been making some good improvements of late and I can report that customers are now very well looked after. Plenty of promotions and cheap drinks have been put in place but most importantly, the girls have been put on the case of ensuring that customers enjoy their visit.

There are enough girls in the bar to make for a lively atmosphere but the bar layout seems to make it a little inefficient. There's a naked dancing Jacuzzi affair but it doesn't command much line of sight from the main bar area. Also the seats around the main stage have poor access and if they were full would require shuffling past other customers.

Still as long as there are enough seats for me, then I am sure I will be made happy.

  Review November 2008: Early Days

I stopped by on the bar's 3rd day. The bar looks good inside and an awful lot bigger than you would think from visiting the previous Shooters incarnation.

It is attractively laid out with a fair amount of comfy seating around the outside of a double stage. There is a Jacuzzi further back but this wasn't powered up on my visit.

The drinks prices were competitive complete with a cheap draft beer.

Manager Russ has done good work at previous GoGos so given the good basis, then this should become a good gogo.

It wasn't particularly entertaining on this visit as there were only 8 girls in attendance. A couple were good looking but it is never fair to make any judgements in the early days. A bar has to be up and running before it can attract the girls.

The dancers were all bikini clad or topless.

The Hip Hop - House Dance Music tag prominent on the door seems a little misleading. It suggests more of a disco type environment than the bar actually is. It was dance music but no louder or prominent than any other typical gogo.

Oh and a word to the bar ushers...don't cram people into a small area of seating when there is plenty of space spread round the bar...it puts reviewers in a bad frame of mind.

I still drop by for the occasional look see but never stay long because the dancing ratio doesn't really give the customers a fair chance for much time with the girls. Whenever I have dropped by there are many more girls dancing than hostessing such that the girls were only hanging around for 3 dances before starting on another 6 dance stint.

Just a personal taste thing, and I did see a large party who were clearly enjoying themselves. The trick being to be able to have a good banter with your mates whilst the girls are away for the majority of their time. Then you can spoil the girls rotten for the short time that they are at your side.

There's an affable host on hand for a chat should you not bring your mates with you.

Most things are spot on about the bar. It looks good, there are some good looking girls and they take off plenty of clothes when dancing. Drinks are reasonable with a plenty of happy hour options too.

  Review December 2008: Close Competition

A good looking bar that has not quite made it on to my list of favourite bars.

There are a fair amount of girls employed and there are some who are pretty indeed. Plenty on show in terms of dress code too.

The happy hour offer is a very good deal at 2 for 1, and draft beer later is a reasonable 65 Baht.

The upstairs loos have been mentioned in the past in terms of caution of the spiral stairs when drunk. The stairs are wide enough that this isn't really an issue.

The only real reason why I haven't become a regular is that on most visits, I have been simply been ignored by the girls. Not a big issue, but Misty's is located tantalisingly close to Baby Dolls where good hostessing is assured. So impatience usually  gets the better of me, perhaps a little bit before it should.

  Review June 2008: Spoilt

A generally pleasant subsequent visit was spoilt by an offer of a lady drink (110 Baht) which ended up as a lady cocktail (150 Baht) without anyone asking or pointing out the uninvited upgrade.

It is a waste of time informing the mamasang as she simply blamed the girl and did nothing to put the matter right. The advice is to take it up with the farang management.

The bar has measures in place to try and prevent this happening, but the very existence of the dual price temptation means that this problem will inevitably recur.

  Review May 2008: Looks Good

Popped in for an early look see and the new bar surely looks good.

The outside neon is surely the most impressive in Pattaya.

There is a central stage with half a dozen girls fully covered in a white lacy affair.

There are another half dozen girls on table dancing stages arranged just in front of the comfortable bench seating. The girls were topless but strangely with a blouse at half mast. Perhaps at the ready for a quick panic.

There is an upper floor with accessed by a scary looking spiral staircase. The girls dance nude up top and are viewable from downstairs.

There were plenty of girls in attendance and an old friend looked after me well.

The drinks prices are comparable with other popular bars but the draft beer wasn't in a particularly large glass for the price.

The music is aimed at the dancing girls rather than oldie farangs. Perhaps a bit loud, but not quite the loudest.

I found a couple of teething problems in terms of the arrangement of the dancing girls. Sitting downstairs, the upstairs girls are simply too far above to be particularly worth a cricked neck for. The lighting, although effective, makes it difficult to watch the table dancers, its either too dark, or else one gets a bit dazzled. And the girls on the central stage are simply overdressed. Perhaps the trick is to sit upstairs...but I don't know if I would trust myself to get drunk upstairs, what with having to negotiate the stairs on the way down.

  Review June 2009: Nevada not Nirvana

There were about 12 girl in the bar of which 6 were dancing. Of the 6, usually half are naked and the others prefer bikinis. They dance to rock music which sometimes features long tracks, so the dancing stint can often be overly long. There are usually a few good looking girls, but there also the inevitable off-Walking Street heavies.

The girls now seem to prefer their own company rather than circulate seeking the company of customers. Maybe it is better in the afternoon, but my recent early evening visits have been lonely affairs.

The drinks prices are reasonable at 50 Baht or a draft Chang and 60 Baht for a draft Heineken. Served in a good sized glass too.

  Review Dec 2008: Refreshment Break

This has become a bar that I visit regularly but rarely stay long. It is conveniently located near Beach Road and Royal Garden Mall. It is a good place for a refreshment break when strolling around the area.

The bar has scaled back its girls and somehow there are never enough to spend much time entertaining customers. They tend to do a long dance stint even when there are next to no customers in the bar.

On the positive side there are usually a few attractive girls in attendance and about half the girls dance nude.

The drinks are cheap with a long running 50 Baht draft Chang and draft Heineken is 60 Baht.

The bar seems to be best in the afternoon when there are more girls and more customers.

  Review, May 2008: Undanceable Rock

The bar seems to have picked up a little since the last report. Nothing has really changed about the bar but having a few more ladies means it works so much better.

The bar is primarily an afternoon bar catering to expats. The music is strictly rock focusing on the 70s. Some of it is totally undanceable for the girls.

Most, but not all, of the girls dance naked but the girl nearest the door puts her wrap back on presumably in anticipation of a police visit.

The girls tend to do a fair stint at Nevada so presumably they are well looked after by the bar. They know how to look after the customers but are not really quite so hands-on as Hot & Cold at the other end of the soi.

An easy place to stay for a couple of beers but I have rarely stayed for a long haul.

  Review, August 2007: Downward Spiral

The bar seems to be struggling with the low season of late and does not seem to be responding well.

They clearly have a lack of girls which generates a lack of customers and hence a lack of girls.

Also when the bar is down to their last half dozen girls, they still insist that most of them are dancing. This policy may encourage newcomers peering through the door to stay for a while, but sends the customers they have got already packing.

In addition the bar has decided to play safe with the morality police on the prowl. So it is not as if there is much to see on stage either

A friend has been to Thailand 10 times and I have been three.

We spent most of our time in Pattaya in Club Nevada.

It is his favorite hang out during the day and it was my favorite hang out since trip two.

It was the most comfortable, best music, no hassle, and has some amazing looking girls.

I cannot say I have been in a better gogo in Pattaya and I have been in at least half of them.

I would just like to say that on my next trip, when I get up in the (late) morning in Pattaya, Club Nevada will be my first stop. Again.

Cheap beer, nude dancing, and girls who are pleasant company who are happy to entertain further in convenient rooms. What more do you need?

It is surely not the party atmosphere of Walking Street, nor is it the downright naughty that you will find at the other end of the soi.

The girls seem to exert very little pressure for lady drinks and barfines but seem to get blessed with a plentiful supply of both from bar regulars.

Just a pleasant bar to relax over a couple of beers, have a chat and wonder where to go next for somewhere a bit more extrovert.

  Review March 2009: The Little Things

The bar is very well located offering an aircon oasis when strolling around Sois Buakhao, LK Metro, Diana and, Leng Kee and Chayphun.

It is quite an attractive bar with a central stage for a dozen dancers and 3 other table dancing stages.

The girls are split into two dancing teams each taking aturn on stage for about 5 songs. The girls dance in bikinis or topless with a few taking off their knickers for the final song of their set. There are usually a few pretty girls amongst the dancers.

It is a bar that targets Pattaya regulars and at first glance all seems well organised. But somehow I seem to get irritated by minor grievances on every visit. There are two levels of lady drink and the most expensive usually appears without asking. The prettier girls seem to like to hunt for the lady drinks just a few minutes before it is their turn to dance. And girls at your side are likely to be whisked away by the mamasang to other presumably more profit making customers. Small change is often assumed to be a tip.

But saying that it seems to be a very popular bar, often being full or there abouts.

Another first time visitation for me. I have heard good reports of this place, but either my own taste in girls is extremely restrictive, or we just picked a bad night, for with one or two exceptions it resembled a bit of an elephant’s graveyard of a Go-Go, plenty of dancers in the bar, but not to my ‘spec’, it resembled a home to the girls that were perhaps a little bit worn at the edges to put it nicely, but each to their own, and things can change on a daily basis, if not an hourly basis in the bars of Sin City.

The mamasang has worked in many Walking Street bars and has previously run a pretty tight regime of ensuring that customers are matched to girls.

Oasis though has settled down into a very hassle free gogo where you are likely to drink alone unless you make an effort to call over a girl.

I asked the mamasang about this, and she said that they have decided that is what the Soi Buakhao customers prefer.

So the bar offers minimal hassle, cheap beer and farang rock music at a reasonable volume. Sounds like your local pub back in farangland. But of course there are topless dancing girls and short time rooms if you feel the urge. So the best of both worlds.

But perhaps a little too restrained though for my tastes.

Got in at 10.30 pm. Inside there is a central stage with 8 girls doing a 4 song shift. There are also 4 tables in the corners with a girl dancing. So there were about 24 girls on duty that night. Did however see some girls returning from ST.

I was approached by a nice lady and called in a lady who was dancing at the moment. Had a very good time with some hands on fun from both ladies.

There are no shows. But nevertheless a nice place to spent some time.

The bin was 1680 bin which includes 2 barfines (550 each, 2000 LT) 1 bottle of Heineken, 1 diet coke and 4 lady drinks, so overall not too expensive I guess.

  Review Aug 2007: Getting Something Right

The early momentum is being maintained and the bar is still proving to be very popular.

There is nothing particularly unique about the bar that readily explains the popularity. One has to put it down to a good location, effectively signposted with a lot of neon. The bar also know that the location is better for expats than holidaymakers and so provide a competitively priced draft beer.

The music is also expat friendly and played at reasonable volume.

There are a fair few girls on the books and some of them are attractive. Even so, where the bar gets full there are not really enough girls to go round.

The girls do about a 5 song dance stint in various amounts of clothing. It seems a successful policy to allow the girls to choose their own attire as it somehow turns out a little more sexy than a bar imposed uniform.

A few of the girls can get quite up close personal with their drinking partners but many seem to sit demurely by their sides.

I can only put the success down to getting a lot of the small things right. But surely this bar can now be rated a good success.

  Review June 2009: Hassled

I can't say I enjoyed my first visit much, I seemed to get hassled by some of the oldest gripes in the book.

But first the basics. The bar is more or less the same layout as last seen for Black & White. There's a large central stage, a cage stage, like Peppermint, which was unused as was the swimming tank. The inevitable Jacuzzi was in operation with a couple of girls soaping themselves down.

There were a decent amount of girls in attendance with quite a busy stage show of 8 dancers. The girls were dancing for 8 songs which is way too long for those waiting for girls who 'go dance'.

The girls were average which means that there were several that would surely be escorting customers home. Not a bad team for the 2nd night of a gogo. The gogo dancers were a bit shy though, only one took off her top to dance.

There is a draft beer at 65 Baht.

Perhaps the staff were a bit over keen, being near the opening but I found my self getting a bit hassled. There were 2 mamasangs working the floor and they were friendly enough to introduce themselves. One clicked her fingers and 2 girls appeared at my side. I always consider it bad manners to be doubled teamed, I take it as a set up for hassle. Anyway I sent one girl away and spoke a few words to the other. The girl, a server, and one of the mamasangs were unduly quick to push for a lady drink. And no wonder they were so quick, at the next song, it was the girls turn to dance (for 8 songs!).

Perhaps I was just unlucky with timing.

  News May 2009: Improved

A few days after the bar re-opened I stopped by to have a quick look. And for the first time in a long time, I was tempted to stay for more than one drink.

So what's the big difference, well not so much really, just a couple of good looking girls who were happy to give a little up close attention.

To be fair though, I knew them from a previous bar, so not quote proof that Coyote's girls have got a little more approachable. But looking round I saw other customers enjoying a bit of company so I think the odds are good that attitude has improved for the likes of oldies like me.

There was a little forum talk that the girls on the first night were a little less than average, but there were a handful of pretty girls in attendance by the time I visited.

The girls were split into two teams and they were swapping over pretty quickly which I like. After about 4 or possibly 5 songs.

The beer is now in the reasonable range at 60 Baht draft or 90 Baht bottled.

The only complaint that I had was that one of my dancing girls was dressed a little conservatively with a bra under her boob tube. But she soon put it right when I informed her of my minor discomfiture.

Forum postings have suggested that the bar had become the focus of serious crime and the police are involved. The owners have posted that the bar will re-open soon but the serious nature of the issues suggest that it is more of a wait and see situation.

  Review March 2009: Night Club vs GoGo

I have always likened Coyotee's and Heaven Above as perhaps more similar to western nightclubs than your typical Pattaya GoGo bars. They seem to cater for the more assertive customers willing to make a play for the girls rather than the norm, where the girls either make the first move, or else are readily available.

Coyotee's has some very attractive dancers on their books. There are show girls, naked dancers and the remainder are somewhat modestly attired gogo girls.

On a recent visit the dancers were supplemented by 'Bangkok Super Models' who are more geared up for professional standard dancing shows. I didn't find them particularly attractive though, they were overdressed in coyote gear with thick tights and heavy make up. Better dancers, but somehow not suited to gogos. Their stage wear feels like over protection compared with the amateur dancing girls who lay it all on the line by dancing in sweet nothing.

A recent reduction in beer prices seems to be coupled with more enthusiasm from the mamasang to enable customers to hook up with a girls of their choice. Perhaps the bar is trying for a wider appeal. I was strangely reluctant to get attached to a girl, just a lingering worry from previous history that somehow this would involve some high maintenance charges.

Maybe I'll stick to a quick visit to watch the 'suay' show girls, but maybe if the moment is right, I could be easily persuaded.

  Review Oct 2008: Elusive

This must be about the most elusive bar for me in all of Pattaya. Forum members seem to enjoy it and post a fair amount of of good comments particularly about good looking girls.  But somehow I never get inspired to stay beyond a single beer.

My visit was about 10:30pm when the drinks prices were temporarily reasonable for a few weeks. The bar was dead as I arrived but soon picked up for the shows.

The bar seems notable for girls not approaching customers, but on the other hand providing good sexy shows. The combination of the two characteristics leads to a really slow start to the evening. There simply is not much point turning up before the shows start. Especially with the usual high drinks prices.

There used to be two shifts of dancing girls and a third shift providing the show. But on this visit, the numbers were down and there was only one shift of gogo dancers. There seemed little time, therefore, for the girls to circulate amongst the customers, hence confirming the rather unfriendly feel to the bar.

On the plus side, one of the service girls was doing a good job making up for the lack of available hostesses.

  Review from Pattaya Ghost, July 2008: A GoGo Enigma

Coyotee’s has never been everyone’s cup of tea. Since its inception, the bar has battled a reputation for stuck-up showgirls, lady drink monsters, girls that refused to barfine, and combative mamasans.

At the same time, others have consistently raved about the place for its unfailing ability to put up some of Pattaya’s most-attractive talent and for a party atmosphere that packs in punters season-in and season-out.

That is the enigma of Coyotee’s. It’s always been difficult to figure out what the bar was all about.

An owner explains that Coyotee's is a “niche” party bar where you go to watch beautiful women in various stages of undress, drink with friendly hostesses and enjoy yourself. It’s not intended to be a place to barfine girls. In fact, only about 15% of all the staff get barfined on an average night, they said.

Most dancers get on average about 10 lady drinks a night, which translates out to 500 baht per day. For a girl working the normal 26 days a month, that’s an extra 13,000 baht on top of decent salaries and tips. As such, the girls have no real incentive to go with customers and management is completely fine with that. We want to sell drinks, not the girls, Deano said.

In fact, the girls’ widespread disinterest in getting barfined has been one of the reasons I’ve personally never enjoyed my visits there. But that’s changing. Managers say that most of the people who now frequent the bar understand what Coyotee’s is all about and, indeed, the online invective about the bar has all but died off.

My opinion is changing too. If you’re willing to accept the bar for what it is – go there, have fun, actually develop a relationship with the girl you fancy and not just “order by number” – then Coyotee’s should be added to your list of regular stops.

Girls will go, but since many of them – particularly the hottest of the showgirls – don’t need to, you’ll simply have to be someone they genuinely like to be with. That’s actually not a bad thing. If she actually likes you, then it’s a sound bet that your private time with her will be pretty good.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, March 2009: No Barfine Bangkok Girls

I could not believe the level of talent on stage.

It turns out they have more Bangkok girls down for 10 days. I was told they get paid 1200 baht per night and is only here for 10 nights. She gets 50 baht per lady drink but has to achieve at least 10 per night or her money is cut by 50 baht for each.

Barfine for the Bangkok visiting girls is set at a suitably discouraging 3500 with the likelihood of a fee for the girl to match.

It also seems that the girls aren't from the farang P4P scene. Some wont go with customers, some will, some are basically party girls, some may well be used to being in high class Thai places where they charge 3000k ST.

  Review March 2009: Revival

Suddenly Diamond was back to where it was a few years ago.

The bar was three quarters full, there were show girls on stage that were capturing the attention of the audience and the music was too loud.

Good to see that the import of a team of dancers from Bangkok seems to have sparked a revival.

I'm not sure if it is like this everyday but I think I may have stumbled in during a dance contest.

Things look hopeful for the bar as there were plenty of attractive girls around and the beer was still the same cheap price as before.

It made a good change to leave after one drink on the grounds that the bar was too full. I usually leave after one drink because the bar was too empty.

  Review Nov 2008: Little Sparkle

Diamond is not really getting the customers in at the moment. I stopped by at 10pm and I was one of two.

Perhaps one of the reasons is a lack of enthusiasm by the welcome staff. They seem to ignore passers by but will of course respond if you step towards the door. The door itself is not really inviting, its like stepping into a vault.

Inside there were 3 bikini clad girls dancing on the central stage and there were another 4 or 5 sitting around waiting for their turn. An average bunch but that still means there are some attractive girls.

There wasn't much doing in the bar but a couple of the waiting girls popped over to see if I was interested. But as I never really appreciate being double teamed I fended them off.

I thought about these double teaming tactics for a while and came to a conclusion. There probably not many regulars of the bar, so the chances are that any customers are newbies and therefore can be easily persuaded to buy multiple lady drinks.

Probably just being cynical though, there were no other signs of hassle. But then again, I didn't hang round very long.

  Review Jan 2008: Reasonable

Diamond is a very straightforward gogo which is pretty conservative in terms of entertainment.

It seems to have a good customer base probably from reputations from maybe slightly better times of old. It seems to cater for guys on holiday rather than expats.

It seems to give a good package of reasonably priced drinks, a reasonable show and a reasonable bunch of girls who tend to keep themselves to themselves.

I guess it does the business in terms of entertainment and so keeps customers returning for occasional visits. It misses out on regulars as they simply get to know the bars where the entertainment is a little more sexy.

Or perhaps just where the music is not played quite so loud!

  Review April 2007: Foreboding Entrance

The doorway is a little foreboding, looking more like a bank vault than a gogo. The welcome staff weren't really on their toes either, giving an air of being picky about who they let in.

Well they were kind enough to open the vault so I wandered in.

The bar was quite popular with a mildly erotic lesbian show capturing the attention of the rapt customers.

The music was loud but not quite the ear splitting levels I was expecting. The customers were also 'having fun' with ping pong balls, entertaining the tequila girl. There were also a couple of guys taking delight in being swamped by lady drink chasers.

Looking around at the bar it seemed that most of the customers were there to watch rather than partake. There were few girls enquiring where customers originate from and there were no girls sitting with customers idly chatting about thisthatandtheother and short time rates.

But what does it matter when there is a bar full of customers who are enjoying themselves. As I prefer to enjoy the girls rather than myself I moved swiftly on.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, Sept 2006: Shadow

A shadow of what it once was. The dancers are average or below. The sexy showgirls are virtually all gone. The music is the worst I've ever heard in here and played at ridiculous volume.

There are again plenty of seats to be had and the drinks have stayed the same price, but gotten smaller.

There are still shows, but even these aren't enough motivation for me to return there willingly.

About 1 month ago Diamond had 3 or 4 ladyboys mixed in with the girls.

The bar is a shadow of its former self during its heyday in the spring of 2005. The shows and quality of the ladies hasn't improved since the New Years/Xmas holidays. The bar is still short of good looking girls, a few doables and that's it.

The shows have become somewhat lackluster. No real packed huge crowds as before, the feet are voting. Diamond is no longer competitive. I found the girls boring as well.

Customer service was good and the bins were spot on. The girls aren't pushy for drinks.

The most improved gogo of my recent trip, after a couple of years in the doldrums, they seem back to their best with a high number of lookers, many of whom are interactive in the bar (with excessive pressure for ladydrinks).

  Review December 2008: Visitors Bar

The bar was very quiet at what should have been a prime time. I presume this rather reflects the lack of holiday makers in town. It has always struck me that this bar is not really a hit with Pattaya residents and appeals more to visitors.

The bar had about 15 dancers in attendance and a few showgirls hiding away in their changing room. 5 or 6 girls were dancing either in bikinis or topless on the revolving central stage.. The girls were generally average which of course means there are a few that appeal.

The girls seemed a little lack lustre in terms of hostess duties, and a couple of newbies behind me were getting a bit of a hard sell about ping pong balls.

There were a couple of shows that were not particularly sexy. One was traditional Thai dancing, and in the other, the girls only got down to their knickers.

I'd rather guess that not many expats use the bar as the drinks prices are on the high end whilst the entertainment is on the low end. Nothing inherently bad about the bar, just poor value.

  Review March 2008: Ping Pong Heaven

At a prime time visit, the bar was very lively. Plenty of whooping and holloring as the guys were lining up to throw ping pong balls and cash at the girls.

It was clear that most of the high spirits were down to holiday fun and the novelty value of a gogo.

From an expat point of view I don't really see why it should be so popular. The girls were distinctly average (that's not to say that there aren't pretty girls, the Walking Street average is pretty good). The drinks prices are on the high side too.

My only theory as to why the bar attracts holiday makers is simply down to the rather good name, particularly as Thee Dollhouse is a well known chain of lap dancing bars in USA.

The girls were not being friendly to me though. They probably spotted the micro gesture of disdain towards the frequent attempts to sell me ping pong balls.

Still you can't knock a bar where everyone is laughing and having fun...you just have to quietly go somewhere else.

After a rather disappointing early evening visit I stopped by at about 10pm and things were far more lively.

In fact I was soon approached by a very attractive girl indeed who turned out to be on loan from Heaven Above.

Nothing like a pretty girl on one's arm to make one appreciate the rest of the entertainment. There were about 8 girls on the central carousel, mostly bikini clad. There are several table dancing positions and also a small cushioned show stage with a couple of girls on show. This was not quite the naughtiness of Windmill or What's Up though.

One notable policy of The Dollhouse is that all the girls seem to be continuously dancing, whether they are on or off stage or even at the side of a customer. Presumably salary cuts apply if ever a girl is spotted not jigging around. Still it seems to help the girls stay slim.

Hopefully the re-animation will continue. Surely this has a better chance than previous short lived revivals, as the price of draught beer has now been reduced to Walking Street norms.

  Review Jan 2009: Underwhelming

I have been somewhat underwhelmed when I have recently stopped by this bar. It hasn't really changed very much over the last few years, its just that a little less good than it used to be.

There are slightly less girls, they are slightly older on average and the decor is now slightly faded.

On the positive side the beer prices have been the same for ages and the bar continues with the oldie farang friendly rock music.

There are usually a few customers in the bar who are enjoying playing with the girls, so not a bad place. Never any undue hassle either.

Presumably the relatively early closing is something to do with running one shift of staff rather than two.

  Review May 2008: Foundering

The bar seems to be struggling a bit at the moment. I have been left to drink alone on my last couple of visits due to a general lack of girls.

There is also a general lack of customers too. This may be down to the girls being a bit overdressed in bikinis. Or perhaps it is down to lady boy welcome staff putting a few people off.

Still, there is nothing particularly bad about the bar. The beer is cheap and the music is farang friendly. And the girls seem friendly enough too.

As always it could be just bad luck but I think it is simply edged out by the better local competition from Nevada and Hot & Cold

  News, Jan 2008: Far East Rocked

Far East Rock has made the UK news as it is listed as one of the assets of Angela Miller. She has been prosecuted for running brothels in the UK where Thai girls were working in semi slavery to repay ridiculous trumped up debts incurred to get a chance of working in the UK.

She was sentenced to 4 years and will serve more if she opposes the confiscation of her assets.

She had been extradited back to the UK after being on the run for 6 years in Thailand.

Far East Rock seems to be the least popular of the afternoon gogos in the area. It is outdone by Cub Nevada for prettier and nude dancers. It is outdone by Hot & Cold for up close and personal attention. It is outdone by TQ1 for those that want to have a banter with their mates.

There's probably no good reason why it shouldn't compete with the others but momentum seems to have made this the least popular. Prices are generally competitive and the music is attractive to the afternoon expats.

The kateoys on the welcome staff at the door are probably a big negative for many potential customers. It seems strange to use kateoys when it does not seem to be a big thing within the bar.

The poor ranking generally reflects in a lower standard of girls but there are usually a few that one would be happy to share a drink with.

Never seems too bad, but I generally soon get tempted to move on to one of the nearby competitors.

  Review, March 2007: Afternoon GoGo

Seemed reasonably popular on an afternoon visit with plenty of customers who were enjoying some hands on fun with the girls.

In the evening katoeys guard the door so I don't know whether it changes character.

The music is pitched at those who like their rock from the 70's and 80's.

The draft beer comes in decent size glasses to make for a reasonably cheap session.

About 6 girls dance at anyone time which is probably a couple more than necessary s it would leave a couple more girls on hostess duty. Previously girls danced nude but on this visit they were generally topless

A pending downpour and a lack of katoeys on the welcome staff afforded an opportunity for a rare visit.

Signs about the shortened opening hours have been taken down so presumably the bar now operates until late.

The aging bench seating has been reupholstered so the bar now looks a little smarter. There are also drinks menus dotted around which I am always happy to see.

Traditional, 'up to the girls', dress code was in force on the stage but most girls were a little below average in looks.

A couple of customers were being well looked after but somehow the bar did not click for me and I braved the rain for a short hop to the opposite bar.

Large and airy, a central dance podium, two separate dance stages around the sides, two dozen or so dancers with a generally good standard. Large screen TVs around the walls showing sports for those who are no longer interested in watching the dancers. And the girls were actually dancing.

There were a couple of shows, but I guess because the girls appeared to be new these weren’t as slick as some of the others you can see around town.

The new GoGo is located on the north side of central Soi 8. It was previously the location of Zoo A-GoGo. I have heard that there was a previous incarnation of First A-GoGo on the same site many years ago.

The gogo is large with a central stage plus an unused side stage and a Jacuzzi.

There is an area with sofa seating and the rest of the bar is stools. The gogo generally looks good.

It is always difficult for bars to recruit girls for the opening and this bar had just 6 dancers. Less than average too. They were all bikini clad. I was told that the Jacuzzi girls were a little more revealing but they hadn't started yet.

The Pattaya Ghost informs me that all 3 of the Jacuzzi girls were eminently 'doable'.

The drinks prices are way too much for this early days entertainment with no draft beer and bottles at 100-110. Spirits were on the menu as 130 Baht.

The service girl taking my order was a good English speaker and she was happy to chat to make up for the lack of available dancers.

But really the bar is currently poor value with expensive drinks, few ladies, and dancers with too many clothes.

The bar seemed basically friendly and free of hassle. I will certainly drop by again to see how they fare.

  Review June 2009: Opening Day Fun

The hosts for the re-opening of this small bar will be familiar with anybody that has been to BJ Club. The manager there and the mamasang seem to have done a good job at the poorly located BJ Club, so perhaps they can do something with a  notoriously difficult small narrow bar.

The opening night perhaps demonstrates some of the problems. There were perhaps a couple of dozen girls in the bar with 4 on the central stage and a couple doing their own thing in the Jacuzzi. By the time the owners mates had claimed the best girls, then there weren't enough left to entertain the rest of the customers. No doubt on following days there will prove to be too many girls. It is hard to maintain a happy medium for a small bar

There were quite a good team of girls for an opening day, probably a few from BJ Club. They mostly danced in bikinis but a couple lost their tops.

Draft beer was 45 Baht.

It was reported on Stickman that Galaxy had closed. This seems not to be the case. (The door was open and people were entering but I wasn't going to look any further lest I get hammered with a mandatory tip). Girls are now back dancing in the street booth too.

  News from Pattaya Daily News June 2007: Police Raid

Pattaya police arrested five naked Russian dancers at Galaxy Cabaret on walking street.

Outside, there were clothed foreign dancers performing behind a glass window. However, inside, Russian strippers were entertaining the audience.

Foreign undercover 'volunteers', with female police, posed as customers to investigate; and found five Russian strippers, clad only in bikinis, dancing to the delight of the audience. The police immediately arrested the half naked performers.

They all had permits to work as dancers, but they were, nevertheless arrested, as it is a crime to perform unclothed.

We sat down and ordered our 200/250 baht beer.

One of the the girls said hello, seemed pleasant but we avoided to much chatting as we did not wish to lead on as we were only having a look inside.

We were greeted by the doorman and asked if there was a cover charge. “No” was the reply – so in we went ‘for the experience’. There were a few good lookers swinging off their poles in their birthday suits – totally uninhibited. We were beset upon immediately by a couple of reasonably attractive Romanian girls who forgot to put all their clothes on, so we thought we would do the right thing and invite them to sit with us and have a drink.

Not long after we had taken a seat on the sofa, a third totally naked bird took the opportunity to slither across my lap (totally unexpected and uninvited) - knocking my beer over. Not only did she reduce my stubby to a half full state without me enjoying too much of it but she rudely interrupted the conversation I had just started with the bird I had bought a drink for.

She removed her body from my lap and stood with her hand out – she had the audacity of seeking a tip – and I stress I neither invited or wanted her. My mate joked she was looking for payment for services rendered. What services? I politely gestured for her to POQ but she wasn’t leaving in a hurry. My mate told her a little (not much) more strongly that we were happy with the two girls we were talking with and didn’t need her. She threw her head back and charged away. She returned 30 seconds later – smashed a plastic sign down on the table in front of me “It is Galaxy policy that 100 baht tip must be given ...” 100 baht for what! That was enough for me – I was out of there.

Get a load of this... Tab – 2 lady drinks @ 300 baht + 2 small Heineken @ 220 baht = 1,040 baht for a small amount of entertainment.

I was impressed with the looks of the girls dressed in tiny red bikinis or less. They even had a show with the usual sexy dancing ending with some rubber hose whippin'.

When I looked around I saw mostly younger guys visiting but the girls seemed to be interacting well between their dancing-shift. They sent the ugliest girl over to me (as usual!) Can never understand this practise, why bars almost always sends over the oldest and ugliest girls to new customers!?

Anyway music was too loud, some boring Techno Dance whatever they call it although the girls seems to like it, and where quite energetic up on stage!

  Review Feb 2009: Service Without a Smile

The bar seems to be quite popular when I stopped by mid week.

The bar had about a dozen girls split into shifts with about half a dozen on stage. They are still following the pattern of taking off clothes as they work through the short dance roster.

The girls are attractive which obviously goes someway towards  explaining the popularity. I think the short striptease dance pattern is a good idea too.

Unfortunately there weren't really enough girls in the bar to take personal care of all the customers. The lucky few seemed to be having a good time though.

As I felt somewhat neglected on this occasion, I decided to move rapidly on and maybe try again another time. As my tipping tends to reflect how much I enjoyed my stay, I chose not to leave one, 85 Baht is already enough for a draft beer. I got such a sneer from the service girl. Totally unpleasant.

The bosses continue to keep the upstairs stages closed unless absolutely pressed for space.

The bosses have also made a few change, dropping the sexy gowns for most girls and putting then in go-go style skirts and bikinis. They’ve also introduced a number of sexy shows.

  Review June 2008: Lonely

The bar seems to have settled down into a rather low key affair. There are plenty of good looking dancers and they keep the stage entertainment brief and to the point with a three song set usually removing excess clothing at each song. Sexy indeed.

The bar seems to have gone awry in terms of hooking the girls up with the customers though.

I concur with a fair few Pattaya forum members that customers are generally left to drink a lonesome beer without any interest from the girls to say hello. There is a theory going around that the girls are picky and just waiting on good looking young guys. But they may have to wait a fair time in Pattaya.

There is a bar gimmick about waiving a 20 baht dollar bill around to get a girls attention, but I have yet to see this work.

In the meantime the connections of the bar will be wondering why the customers aren't showing as much interest in drinking in the bar as they would like. Nothing a bit more of bullying mamasang couldn't sort out.

  Review Nov 2007: Never a Coyote Fan...Until Now

A very impressive first visit. The local builders must have gotten very rich on the number of re-modellings this venue has had this last couple of years.

But the current incarnation is the best so far. It achieves a feeling of luxury as conjured up by the name. In fact so much so that I was a little apprehensive of the prices within the useful VIP Menu on each table. But there is nothing whatsoever to fear. The prices are well reasonable with a cheap draft beer and lady drinks at 95 Baht.

After putting myself at ease with a beer I then surveyed the dancing girls. There are only 2 on stage at one time and they were wearing swirling light dresses rather than the close cropped shorts or minis one usually associates with coyote dancing. And it works, the dancing came across to me as very sexy.

Clearly this enjoyment signalled itself in my body language and one of the dancers quickly popped over a chat at the end of the song. She proved good company indeed. She gave me a guided tour of the bar including the topless dancing upstairs.

There are also other simple innovations that made for a good time. The dancers only dance for a very short stint. It gives them chance to put a lot energy into the dance and it is good for the customers awaiting their speedy return to the chat.

Well done to the Insomnia team, a great start for an innovative new venue.

  Review April 2009: Personal Space

I'd make a lousy bar owner. If I fashioned a bar according to my own likes and dislikes, I'd end up losing out on some of of the most popular bars in Pattaya, and Happy is one of them.

I often pop by Happy early evening for one drink whilst planning an itinerary for the rest of the evening. It is perfect for a quick drink, as it has very good looking dancers, reasonable drinks prices and no hassle from the girls (not that hassle is a bad thing mind you, I do particularly like being hassled by a girl jumping on to my lap).

There are plenty of girls on stage and they have a very long dance roster, but that's ok, not many of them have drinking partners waiting for their return.

The girls on the main stage dance topless and it must be said that the basic gogo dancing is some of the more energetic in town.

All well and good, and maybe too good. Later on the crowds come to enjoy the entertainment. At this time the bar is everything that I don't want from a bar. More than likely you will get ushered to one of the last remaining seats in the bar, usually a stage side stool jammed between 2 other occupied stools.

Now then its a question of priorities, do you want to watch some of the prettiest girls in town? or do you want to have a comfortable seat and the space for a girl at your side? (even if getting a girl is as yet, just a hope). Call me strange but I prefer the comfortable seat and a bit of room to breathe. But at least I can see the point of view of those jammed into the small stage-side stools enjoying the pretty dancers.

  Review Sept 2008: Still Happy

Nothing much had changed since my last visit. In fact nothing had changed since my last visit. The bar is simply supremely consistent.

Still pretty girls on the popular main stage and naked girls around on the side stage which isn't so popular.

Most guys seem to come to look rather than interact with the girls much.

The shows are simple with just a little added enthusiasm to the dancing and a few less clothes.

The beer is reasonably priced but it is not given away as the glasses are small.

On the whole I find the lack of interaction makes the bar pretty sterile but that is personal taste rather than a criticism of the bar. Many would say how pleasant it is to be able to sit ad watch without being hassled.

My wife and I went here around 9pm. Considering the early hour, the place was very busy.

Luckily enough, there were two spare seats next to the central stage where we were seated.

Central stage was occupied by eight naked girls enthusiastically dancing. After every number they rotated to the next pole until they’d done a complete circuit of the poles. Not much interaction with the customers though but we still enjoyed the dancing.

After this, the naked girls were replaced with shuffling bikini girls (a few topless) and we realised that we had just witnessed a kind of show by the naked girls. On a few side tables there was table dancing with skirted, but knickerless, girls who we managed to get a smile out of.

We did notice that Happy also had hostesses and there were a couple engaged with Japanese gents.

Probably one of the better places that we visited but again, it was just a one drink place.

Went in and found the place as usual packed with customers as well as pretty girls. I found the quality of the girls had decreased a bit since my last visit 6 months ago. Maybe because of the time 0.30 am and most prettiest girls had been barfined.

Some of the girls are topless and in the new part of the bar there were no naked girls dancing as I remembered from a previous visit.

The place is always full of fun and I always like to come back. One of the top gogos in Patts

  Review April 2007: No Hassle

I often pop in for a beer in the early evening to have somewhere pleasant to sit down whilst I plan where to go for the evening.

The bar has a no hassle policy, so unless you send out the signals, no girls will approach you. But it is not like the Super Baby/Girl gogos where you do not even get a smile before selecting a girl by number. The girls here smile and cast their eye over the customers so as to give the guys a chance to signal the girls should they so wish.

There are plenty of pretty girls on stage dancing though they sometimes have to dance very long stint.

There is a choice of stages with the main stage being topless, there is a knickerless table dancing stage and also a small nude stage.

The service is good, if not a little too efficient, with the all male service guys sometimes being a little over enthusiastic to suggest more drinks.

I rarely stay beyond one drink though, the bar has a policy of 'no touch' whilst drinking with girls. I prefer something a little bit naughtier. But for those that like to take away to play, this bar surely delivers good options

The best gogo in Pattaya. Barfine a girl here, go back a few nights later and get treated like a king. The line-up is outstanding, and the girls dance enthusiastically. The mamasan is always on hand checking everyone is "happy". The icing on the cake for me is that the girls all seem to genuinely like each other, which just adds to the electric atmosphere.

There is always a party atmosphere the minute you walk into the bar, something that most bars do not have. I hate walking into a dead go-go bar, and then everyone stares at you for the next 10 minutes, sizing you up and hoping you will barfine them. At Happy, the place is so damn crowded and there are so many girls, that no one notices new arrivals walking through the door.

I would rather that they had female service staff, though.

For me, and others I know, Heaven Above has the number one position as far as sheer number of small-bodied, tight-butt dancing damsels is concerned.

I did however have a brief chat with the Manager, an affable enough young Aussie chap, who was desperately trying to sell me on the idea of purchasing a special discount drink card for the minimal sum of 850 Baht, which was guaranteed to eventually save me money on my drinks. Sorry, I’m sure it is a good deal but not one I am going to go for while out having a good time and in a fairly incapacitated state, seemed a bit like a Time Share sort of deal.

As for the eye candy on view, well again recently there has been criticism of the line up, but I have to say I thought there were some stunners on show, whether or not they have pussies made of gold that pee pure Pinot Noir, and a stuck up attitude to match, I can’t really say, they certainly seemed friendly enough to my advances, and when I walked out of the club at around midnight there were fifteen very attractive hard bodied girls lined up totally buck naked on stage, and more circling the stage, what’s wrong with that scenario, I mean what more could you desire? The service staff were attentive, and some comely wenches amongst them too.

All in all, still one of the top go-go’s in Pattaya with some stunning girls, in my humble opinion.

  Review by Pattaya Today: Night March, July 2008: Still a Slice of Heaven

The Heaven Above ogling den continues to retain an air of consistency that to my mind keeps it among the better joints around.

Relatively small in terms of space, it always has a brace of dancing damsels.

While the vast majority are long-term practitioners of the art of wallet emptying, it’s a place that suits the punter who understands the ‘great game’ and plays by the rules, most of which are for the short term.

I still think most of the music is drawn out of an aural trash can, but the chrome pole gyrators seem to appreciate it. The free style of dancing apparel, rather than a uniform approach, makes for an intriguing mix of colours and fashions, which I think adds to the overall appeal.

  Review May 2008: Party Bar

The girls are notable for being some of the most attractive in Pattaya.

But maybe a little bit too good, as they tend to have developed a mind of their own, and it is not always high on their agenda to put customers first.

In fact they can be a little selective.

But if you really are a hansum man, or have a lot of cash to splash, or even maybe you a bit of a party animal, then you can surely have a good time here.

The girls dance in their own choice of clothes which makes a good change from other bars.

  Review Oct 2007: Pasties

I popped in to check out the recent changes implemented during the police closure.

The most obvious change is that the dancing girls were strictly bikini clad. Hopefully just a temporary setback.

The bars has also established a few dancing podiums in amongst the customers. The girls here removed their bikini tops but unfortunately they were wearing star shaped pasties underneath.

There back bar has changed sides and has been reduced in size to free up a little more space. Enough indeed for the inevitable Jacuzzi that has appeared.

The Jacuzzi wasn't being used at the time, perhaps my visit was a little early. This sort of leads on to a final improvement: the girls were being friendly and chatting with customers during the early hours. It could have been down to having met the girls previously whilst they seconded to the Dollhouse, but nevertheless a welcome improvement.

  Review Nov 2008: No Draft, No Dice

At about 10pm I was the only customer in the bar. There were plenty of girls in attendance with several that were well attractive.

You'd think I'd be well away. But as is often the case in a dead bar, it is actually pretty tough to attract the attention of the girls.

Because there are next to no customers in the bar, the dancing girls don't really cast their gaze around the room. And when they have finished they go into an impenetrable huddle. There's no point in circulating when there are no customers.

The mamasang spotted the unattached customer though, and send a 'B string' girl over. I am a great believer in first come, first served, so I expect that if I am the only customer in the bar, then I should be allocated an 'A string' companion.

From my viewpoint the bar fails to make my list due to the lack of draft beer. A cheap first drink option is always good as it tempts me in for a 'look see'. But being as this bar is twice the beer price of most (I see no taste advantage of bottles over draft) then I simply give it a miss, particularly as previous visits have also been pretty naff.

  News June 2008: Happy Hour

Hooty's has started a happy hour with bottled beer at 70 Baht and house spirits at 50 Baht. Later on there was no sign of the 70 Baht Beer on the welcome cards.

  Review March 2008: Just Like Old Times

Maybe I hit that bar at a bad time but it was not a fun place to be. In fact it was very much like the rather dour Hooty's of a year ago.

There were plenty of girls in the bar huddled on one side without making much effort at mingling with the customers. The gogo dancing was fully bikini clad and even the show girl got no further than taking her top off.

There were no girls dancing at the small podiums amongst the audience.

There were a fair few customers giving the bar the once over though. Perhaps it was just me that considers this bar as poor value for its overpriced beer.

  News Nov 2007: Expensive Beer

A new brighter Hooty's re-opened on November 1st 2007. The bar counter has been shifted to the corridor and there is now comfortable bench seating around 3 walls of the bar. This seating is perhaps a little far from the reduced and lowered central stage but there are now small dance stages in amongst the bench seating.

The toilets are a big improvement on the previous versions.

There were lots of girls on duty, both dancers and hostesses wearing attractive patterned dresses. As is usually the case for a new bar, the dancers weren't quite top notch, but there were still a few attractive girls on show. If the bar becomes successful then it will surely attract the cuties.

There were so many girls that it felt a bit lonely to be ignored by the lot of them, not so much as a smile. Nothing a kick from a mamasang couldn't put right though.

The music is clearly important to the bar. It is oldie farang friendly but perhaps a little more pop than other rock music bars. But this seems a good compromise as the music is a little more danceable for the girls.

The big downer on the bar is the price of beer. There is no draft and bottled beer is expensive at 115 Baht. This puts the beer prices in the top ten for gogos, yet the bar seems pitched at a level in competition with bars selling beer for about half the price of Hooty's.

The previous incarnation of Hooty's seemed  be in permanent decline due to pitching its prices always higher than the competition. It looks like this policy will persist under the new management.

  Review Feb 2009: More Dilapidated More Expensive

The bar struggled to maintain momentum over the peak season as there simply weren't enough girls to round. (But no doubt the finances were healthy).

However things seem back to normal and there are enough girls on the bar that 2 or 3 will soon jump on your lap.

However a couple of less welcoming features have started to emerge. The first is that perennial lady drink upgrade without asking first. This is clearly a new policy as it has not happened for years of regular visits. I put a stop to it as far as I was concerned, but I notice that an awful lot of girls are now drinking 150 Baht Breezers. The standard lady drink went up not so long ago from 80 to 90 Baht.

The other misguided policy change, is for the girls to dance for 5 songs rather than the previous 4. To be slightly blunt, not so many of the girls are employed for their on stage grace. They are for more gainfully employed as literal lap dancers. The extra song just makes customers wait longer and the girls get even more tired after their 9 or 12 hour shift.

Still plenty of fun to be had but keep an eye on what your girls are drinking.

  Review June 2008: Seedy Fun

The state of the decor is getting worse and worse with time. The stained concrete ceiling effect is second to none. The benches are falling apart and the foot rests are nearly rotted through.

But what the hell, it is a great bar. The girls are up for more naughty fun than nearly all the competition put together.

There are a few potential downers though, there are a fair few oldies and chubbies. All the girls can be good fun but it depends a little on personal taste on how one deals with the choice.

There are plenty of attractive girls employed by the bar, but it often seems that they are all otherwise engaged. In fact the bar must do really well for the girls as some seem to be whisked away as soon as they turn up for work.

In fact the high turnover means that if you feel a bit stuck for choice, then wait a drink or two, and a few returnees will soon appear.

The other characteristic of the bar is that the girls like to jump on your lap in teams of 2 or 3 rather than as individuals. But if you can't stand the heat, then don't diddle in the fire of Hot & Cold.

For being one of my fave bars, I hadn't paid a visit for 6 months. Fortunately nothing has changed only the line-up.

2 minutes after entering I was treated with a balls massage from 2 girls that jumped aside me. After a couple of minutes they were replaced by a more fancied girl and the treatment went on.

I am aware they are not the most beautiful girls in town but hell it must be one of the most hands on fun dens in Pats. I too saw customers entering and leaving right away, but for me I hope the place stays the same for a long long time.

Be aware: the girls are pushy for threesomes, just stay firm, unless of course you want a threesome.

Consistent with the post-Songkran bar shuffle, the staff at Hot & Cold has undergone about a 50% change.

Many of the 'older' gals have departed as well as a few of the service staff. Their replacements are perhaps younger but seemingly no less experienced!

As before, the mamasaan seems to ensure that there is a wide variety of ladies in the mix. She just seems to have reduced the average age by a few years.

The customer service, whether from the dancers or the service staff, is still very much hands on and up close and personal.

Now if they'd just fix their termite-ridden seat problems, they could rise to the top of the Pattaya bar scene once again

The service staff of H&C have always been known for their hands-on customer service. This has proved so popular that the mamasaan has instituted a new fee scale. It seems that the service staff has proved so popular that they are being barfined at least as often as the dancers. To discourage their early departure, their barfine is now 800 baht, while that for the dancers remains at 500.

As I and others have noted, H&C may not include many stunners but they are the tallest! With the imported H&C2 staff and some new hires, H&C now seems to offer the tallest group of dancers in the city.

Other aspects of the bar's operation remain as before: 4-5 song sets with plenty of dancers ensuring that your lap dancer will remain with you a majority of the time. Friendly hands-on service; little pressure for the 80 baht lady drinks. Classic tunes played at a reasonable level. 11pm 'shows'. H&C offers something for everyone.

  Review from Pattaya Today: Night March, Oct 2006: Nothing Too Flash

One of the longest-running ogling dens around town. The music is OK, and the drinks prices are very reasonable.

The damsels are not the best lookers in town, but I doubt there’s anyone who expects much in the way of ‘talent’ away from the dens of Walking Street. That said, there are plenty to look at and they come in all shapes, sizes, and age ranges.

They’re certainly a touchy-feely lot and for customers who may feel the need for a short lie down with an accommodating companion, the total cost will run to 1,300 baht.

Worth wandering into if you are at a loose end one late afternoon or happen to be out and about in the Soi Post Office/Yamato area

Once again, I have to commend the manager and staff for providing a fun venue.

But some work needs to be done on the facility. I'm happy to say that the worst offender in the seating hazards has been repaired. No more exposed nails. But I was sitting in the corner near the front of the bar and was afraid that I and my 5 stone companion were going to collapse the seat, it was so shaky. No sooner did we move, than a customer almost fell to the floor when he flipped the cushion on one of the tiered seats.

All in all a great place for a fun evening, but watch your step -- or where you put your tush.

  Review April 2009: Asians Agog

The gogo still tries to be both farang friendly and Asian coach party friendly. But on my last visit the bar was pretty near full of Asians looking agog at the razor blades being drawn from a girl's pussy.

One is tempted to be a bit dismissive of such non-erotic shows but the bar surely had more customers than some of the farang oriented gogos in town.

Whilst the bells and whistles shows continue on one stage there is a girl soaping herself in the Jacuzzi. Its not geared up to allow for much customer interaction though.

The beer prices are kept at reasonable levels for the pay as you go farangs with draft at 55 Baht.

It is very much like its sister bar, Playgirls, just down the street but this one is probably the better due to having a few more attractive girls.

  Review Oct 2008: Pretty Hot

The bar is pitched at Asian tourists in that there are no drinks prices advertised by the welcome staff who are also there to charge unsuspecting visitors an entrance charge. As always the bar is free to farangs.

But the strange thing is that it is a perfectly good bar for farang customers too. There is a cheap draft beer at 55 Baht albeit in a small glass. The lady drinks are also in line with other bars at 110 Baht.

There are some pretty dancing girls and they are happy to pop over for a chat. No undue hassle and I had a perfectly pleasant stay.

There is a bells and whistles show but it is at least simultaneous with a pretty girl soaping herself in a Jacuzzi. The shows alternate with dancing and the girls just dance 2 songs. No sooner did my drinking partners say I go dance, and she was back by my side.

Probably mostly down to my pretty hostess, but I well enjoyed my visit.

  Review Jan 2008: Not Recommended

Entrance 600 baht + 1 drink free. Girls were taller and more beautiful, only topless. but the girls were more demanding and ripped off about 1000 baht from us. I don't recommend this place to anyone. seating arrangements too were poor.

  Review Dec 2007: Schizophrenic

The new layout of the bar is the fashionable white theme complete with Jacuzzi. The bar have recruited a few pretty girls to take good advantage of the shower show.

However the bar is still persisting with the bells and whistle show. But the focus of this is a stage towards the back of the bar.

On my visit though, the bar had not yet succeeded in attracting people to watch the shower show. There was just me enjoying the pretty girls of the front stages. A coach party of people were crowded around the old stagers doing their bells and whistles thing on the back stage.

It was fine by me!

  Update from Ray, Nov 2007: Renovated Hot Girls

The bar's had a makeover rather similar to Noi's and is much improved.

The front stage has replaced by seating which has all been upgraded to comfortable white benches and there are now two smaller stages in the middle of the bar, one for dancers, one for the shower show.

The rear stage still has the occasional bells and whistles show.

Worth a look.

  Review May 2007: Off the Radar

The bar seems to warrant hardy a mention in the Pattaya forums so it was time to go and take a look for myself.

The bar is long and very narrow with a couple of side stages on opposite sides. Some seating affords very poor viewing of the stage.

There were about 20 girls of which at least one was katoey. They weren't a bad looking crew. Three were dancing on the first stage and more dance on the second stage if there are enough customers to move down into the seats overlooking that stage.

Perhaps the most striking reason for the lack of farang comments is that most of the customers are Asian. It seems that bells and whistles shows identify that a bar is targeting Asian customers.

There is a menu card on the tables that advertises fixed rates for bar fines, rooms and short time rates for the girls.

Didn't spot anything bad about the bar...it is just that there are so many better bars nearby.

  Review Feb 2009: Bells and Whistles

I have a feeling that the bar never really got up to speed in attracting farang customers. After all competition from Baby Dolls and What's Up is pretty much the best raunch in town.

So Illusion seems to have scaled down a little and reverted to the bells and whistles format of its previous guise as Top Girls.

There were just 6 or 7 dancers all bikini clad. A couple were putting an effort into dancing but really it was not up to much. There are no poles for the girls to lean on.

After a few songs of gogo the dancers clear the stage and find a dark corner to hide in while the show girls do their unsexy bells and whistles turns. The show girls then circulate for a tip and the cycle continues with the dancers.

The beer is still cheap at 50 Baht but the bar is no longer really an option for those seeking sexy entertainment.

  Review Nov 2008: Less Pasty

The bar has improved a little since the opening days and have doubled their dancing staff to about 15.

The extra dancers have been deployed at small stages in front of the sofa and mattress seating.

There are no cuties amongst the new girls but at least they are a bit closer to the customers and it is a much friendlier venue. Anyway it's a bit too dark to see much anyway.

The girls were dancing way too long and about two thirds are dancing at any one time. So not much chance for the girls to seek out lady drinks.

The girls have dropped the pasties and reverted to bikinis/topless/nude presumably down to the girls own choice. Unfortunately the girls have also dispensed with the fall open tops that would have been very sexy if the effect hadn't been spoilt by the pasties.

  Review Oct 2008: An Illusion of a GoGo

One suspects that the opening configuration will be pretty short lived s it seems to fall short any many fronts. However there is no reason why things shouldn't improve.

The large bar is more reminiscent of a nightclub than a gogo bar. It is kitted out in extreme white and the seating is predominantly large white mattress affairs. They look good, but in reality there is no back support and they get very uncomfortable after a short while.

The music is also predictably club style. The DJ picks some pretty long dance tunes too. Lots of pretty lights to match.

On the downside the seating is simply too far from the two stages. There were 5 girls dancing leaving just two to circulate amongst the customers.

They were wearing bikini bottoms and tops that fall open to reveal all...well nearly all, the girls were wearing star shaped pasties. It is a silly trick as it smacks of censorship and I therefore find it annoying.

There were two amongst the 7 girls that would get you calling them over, but in reality, the lack of hostessing time, (2 long tracks compared with 5 long tracks dancing) made any thought personal entertainment impractical. And as if to stress the point, the girls were vainly hassling for lady drinks whilst dancing.

It always seems a mistake to open without adequate dancers, all the bar reviewers come round in the first few days when the bar is struggling and report how naff it is.

Opening drinks prices are very reasonable though...surely helps.

But I'll be listening out for comments on the forum for when the bar builds up a few more girls. The bar does seem to have potential. It could be that they ay change format to something more like a nightclub. It does seem a strange layout for a gogo, especially as it is lacking all the play stage and Jacuzzi features that seem to draw in the customers these days.

  Review March 2009: Karaoke Style

There is another attempt to get something going in the gogo located at the back corner of Soho Square.

The new K A-GoGo has taken over from Counter and has added a couple of extra welcome staff such that a bit of trade is drawn in from Soi 16 as well as from Walking Street.

The bar has added some bench seating too which is always a good idea, hopefully it is just a temporary problem that it is too high and your feet don't rest on the floor.

The bar now has quite a large team of girls apparently migrating from X-Zone. Several of them were attractive too. The bar has organised it self into two dancing shifts. Which meant about half a dozen dancers on the central stage and a couple on the soft mat play stage.

At this point it all sounds quite promising apart from one minor operational flaw. When the girls finish their dance stint they all reach for a wrap and go and sit outside. Not a single girl stayed inside to try and entertain the customers.  Presumably the mamasang last worked in a Thai karaoke bar or something where the girls sit outside when not hostessing.

It was a good job the serving girls were making an attempt to entertain the 3 or 4 customers or else there would have been very quickly 1 or 2 customers.

Bottled beer is still a reasonable 80 Baht.

  Review June 2009: Mandatory Lady Drinks

Can't say I got a very friendly reception on my last visit. I smiled at a pretty girl sitting outside only to find that she was a newbie and had a friend acting as a minder. I wasn't very enamoured by the uninvited minder and indicated that I found 3 to be a crowd. The minder didn't take it well and decided that the bar had just implemented a no lady drink - no company policy and she whisked the original girl away on that pretext.

I sorted it out but the incident rather soured the visit.

But at least the bar has a fair few girls, the drinks are reasonably priced and the decor is good.

  Review Jan 2009: Up To Speed

The previously reported scaling down of the number of girls was apparently the aftermath of a police raid.

The numbers now seem to have returned to previous levels. Saying that, I haven't actually been tempted in yet to see if the extra numbers have restored the bar to its former glory.

The bar is nicely decorated in a tiger theme and the drinks prices are reasonable.

The girls are at least 20 years old and the bar doesn't employ lady boys.

  Review Oct 2008: Superfluous Dancing

Kiss Kool seems to have scaled down since my last visit. And in the jargon of my trade, it hasn't scaled down well.

There were just half a dozen girls waiting outside, a couple of dancers and one other girl drinking with a customer. The lack of momentum means that there are no customers being entertained by the dancers. Selecting a girl at the door tends to ensure an intense short time interview, which makes the dancing superfluous.

And it got worse. My girl said: I go dance, She said 5 minutes but it was interminable. The bar was by this time totally empty apart from me and my girl. And she was bikini clad dancing in an inane unsexy shuffle to dance music that was of no interest whatsoever.

Really a dreadful way to entertain the only customer...who predictably didn't stay long.

...oh, and there was no draft beer either, so not a particularly cheap way to get bored silly.

  Review Nov 2007: Hard Sell

Kiss Kool is proving to be pretty conservative with little changing over the last year or so.

The bar seems popular with plenty of ladies. There is comfortable sofa seating in an attractive tiger skin decor. There's a large screen TV but it can show some pretty irrelevant programmes to what is the business of the bar.

There are usually 3 dancing girls modestly attired in bikinis. They are not really the focus of the attention as most customers will have a personal service girl on hand.

The bar operates more as a short time bar than a gogo with the girls up for selection as you walk in rather than circulating around the inside of the bar.

The girls seem to be aging a little and I found the bar to have a slightly hard edge with the hard sell to go upstairs.

But there seems little reason to change a well tried and tested formula so I don't supposed things will change much in the foreseeable future.

  Review March 2007: Half Way Decent

The bar area is attractive with comfortable sofas done out in a tiger theme. There is a large screen TV but variable programme choice means that this proves more of an distraction than an entertainment.

The bar is half way to a gogo in that there is bikini clad dancing on show but the real entertainment is the hands on grope provided with a view to a short time upstairs.

The draft beer is reasonably priced as are the lady drinks.

I would visit more but I dislike choosing a girl from the line up at the door after just a quick glance. And if you don't choose a girl, the default house selection always seems to disappoint.

A few changes, unfortunately none for the better.

Music was much louder -- to the point of being unable to engage in normal conversation.

• Deang - the 'show girl' - got herself a sugar-daddy and has left permanently.
• Maun - the sexy dancer - has returned home with no return date in sight.
• Porn - the second sexy dancer - remains.

All in all, the dancing was tame in full bikini with only an occasional teasing flash.

Once the gals were seated however there was fun for all on the couches, even if the conversation was subdued.

At 80B, lady drinks are still a bargain.

  Review from Pattaya Today: Night March, June 2009: Ladyboys

The bar underwent a complete remodelling a few months back after being forced to close for some misdemeanour or other.

While the new layout is more attractive than the previous rabbit-warren incarnation, the overall quality of the dancing damsels is borderline freak show.

Apart from the ladyboys, the genuine girls dancing damsels are a mixed bunch. While a couple are arguably attractive (and given the lighting I think they may well have started life as boys), most are either overweight or just plain frightening.

Drinks prices are ridiculous for what’s on offer: 150 baht for spirits, 139 baht for a lady drink, and 79 baht for draught beer.

Not worth a cracker unless your tastes run to the gender-confused.

I decided to look into Kitten club because I had read that they had now moved the ladyboys to a separate bar. How wrong I was.

Kitten Club seems to have split into two. There are now two doors; one saying Kitten Club and the other Obsessions. They look to be two separate clubs.

Now Obsessions in Bangkok's Nana Plaza is a ladyboy bar so there is the possibility that this is the case in Pattaya too.

Due to high prices and customer unfriendly policies such as unpriced bills in the bin, Kitten Club is on the Thai-Anxiety, "Never Again" list. So it may be a while before further details are available.

There is a closed circuit channel on the Penthouse Hotel melonf78TV so you can, more or less, see girls dancing inside the kitten club downstairs.

Unfortunately, the Kitten Club is a disaster. Up close you realize most of the girls are skanky and some of the girls are ladyboys and one in particular was aggressive and acting stupid. They dance over some jets of air which lifts their skirts Marilyn Monroe style but hey who wants to see ladyboys' skirts fly up? So, although I have mixed feeling about the hotel itself, I have no mixed feelings whatever about the Kitten Club: AVOID.

After ordering a coke, I settled in to watch the lovely kittens play in the tank. The coke arrived and the bill did not have a price on it. I asked for a bill and found my 10oz. coke was 125 baht. No wonder they do not list prices on the tab.

When this Bar was situated on Soi Post Office it was a regular stop off place for me and my friends during a good weekend daytime pub crawl, had many a good time there, and bedded some fairly decent girls there over the years, and the owner Peter came up with a classic retort one day that sticks in my mind even now, I has chastened him for his girls lack of enthusiasm on the dance floor, and he said My girls are here to get fucked, not to dance, and you can’t argue with that logic can you? As for the Bar, well it certainly appeared smaller than the original place, although a little bit classier in terms of décor, the old place was fairly basic if my memory serves me well.

I will give the place another try in the New Year, if only in deference to Peter and his unique style of man (woman) management.

  Review Sept 2008: Opening Night

The bar opened with very much the feel that it will blend in with its near neighbours, Far East Rock, Club Nevada, Spicy Girls and Hot & Cold. It is similarly sized too.

It will open in the afternoon and offers reasonable rates for in house short times.

The drinks seem to be set slightly higher than the opposition with a 75 Baht draft. Lady drinks were 100 Baht

There were plenty of girls on hand for the opening night, although a little questioning suggests that some were employed just for a day or two. The girls were very much a mixed bunch with a few that were presentable.

The dress code is bikini but only 3 or 4 were dancing at anyone time. Surely a good idea giving more time for smooching rather than dancing. There are no novelties such as Jacuzzis or show girls, so the bar will just have to rely on the girls providing good old fashioned hands on entertainment.

I enjoyed my stay but will have to stop by again to make a more realistic appraisal of its offerings. Everyone was eager to please on opening night.

  News March 2009: Slimmed Down Legs

Legs Club has been reduced down to half size. A wall has been constructed such that Legs Club is now a narrow single unit bar with a side stage.

It is now similar in layout to the unsuccessful Popcorn just down the soi. There is stool seating facing the stage abd a little comfortable seating at the front and back of the bar that does not offer a particularly good view of the stage.

For the moment most other things in the bar are the same as before with about 10 dancers of which 2 or 3 are very attractive. They now just dance for 3 songs which is good.

I hope the bar can maintain momentum. It is notoriously hard to make a small gogo work. It is difficult to maintain a good balance between girls and customers.

  Review February 2009: Lucky

The bar is running at a somewhat smaller scale than when it was Mistys with maybe a dozen dancers starting the evening.

The girls dance a nice short stint on the central stage with topless being the standard dress code.

I seem to have been lucky nearly every time I have visited the bar. There always seems to be a girl I know from another bar, or else a good looking native of Legs Club.  And they always seem keen to get re-acquainted.

But on the other hand luck is generally made by a good attitude from the girls and management.

Anyway it works for me at the moment.

This is a surprisingly good venue. Managed by Tim (who should be well known to any past customers of Misty's), the girls are as classy a line-up as you'll see in most Walking Street joints but on the whole are MUCH friendlier.

There aren't many prima donna princesses in this place and many of the girls are quite alluring. I haven't noticed that the girls are too pushy for drinks but they're quite keen to get to know you -- an excellent combination, in my book.

Anyway, two thumbs up from me, Legs is well worth a visit if you are in the area and enjoy being the centre of attention of some very hungry and attentive ladies.

  Review June 2008: Legs Open

Legs Club A-GoGo opened on Soi Pattayaland 2 on 26th June 2008. The venue was previously home to Misty's A-GoGo. The new management have bucked the trend and decided that the interior is perfectly OK and did not need major renovations.

Actually the staff were familiar, as the bar have recruited dancers, service and mamasang previously working at Baby Dolls.

There were only about 10 girls working on the first night. There were dome pretty faces and about half were dancing topless. Never fair to assess the dancers on the first night though, and there will be an update when the bar has had time to come up to speed.

The drinks prices are comparable to Walking Street prices, but perversely, this is cheap for Pattayaland.

I enjoyed a short visit and even on its rather low key opening, it is already the best gogo on Pattayaland.

  Review March 2009: Friendly Reception

I visited the bar at a prime time of about 11pm. The bar was enjoying a sizeable crowd who seemed to be enjoying the shows.

The format was for a few show numbers on the central stage, and then a few numbers of when all the gogo dancers would take the stage. The stints were not too long which is always good in my opinion.

I have a feeling that the bar doesn't really target hardened Pattaya gogo fans though. The shows are choreographed but not outrageously sexy. In the few numbers I saw the girls were a bit shy and kept their knickers on throughout. Good looking girls, but their reputation of being not so keen to go with customers diminishes the attraction somewhat.

The gogo dancers were average (which of course is pretty good in Walking Street). Again they were a bit shy, with only a couple of the dozen on stage, taking their tops off.

The bar seemed to excel in meeting and greeting, lots of happy long lost friends seem to be re-uniting with girls and staff from previous visits. My service girl was well friendly too.

I can't say I was impressed by the dancing girls hunting lady drinks in twos though. It always telegraphs to me a money grabbing attitude rather than the desire for a one to one hook up.

I would suggest that this is one of the better bars in Pattaya for farang couples. They can enjoy the friendly reception along with the cabaret style show without it being too outrageous.

As a rather hardened pleasure seeker though, I found the entertainment to be marginally sexy, and the drinks prices way too expensive at 135 Baht for a bottled beer.

There were plenty of silicone-enhanced showgirls still left after 1 am, although they seemed content to play among themselves, leaving the handful of customer in the bar to sip as slowly as possible on the ridiculously priced 150-baht shorts.

Shows or not, LDS has to be the biggest clip joint in Pattaya. Even Angelwitch, with shows and an environment five times better than Showcase, prices their drinks at 145 baht. Remind me not ever to go back there.

Visited the bar several times this week and really loved it.

There is a central stage crowded by more than average looking girls. They have some shows but they can't compete with the ones in Angelwitch.

There was one girl though that was an outstanding dancer. However there are so many lovely dancing girls, my eyes were caught by a gorgeous hostess (barfine 600 Baht, 2000 LT)

Note: there are a couple of very beautiful girls, that have big sponsors. I was told they ask 10,000 bath ST ( discount when they like you). They actually get barfined 3-4 times a week. Certainly not by me.

  Review July 2007: Closely Packed

The bar may be a very popular show bar but I find the drinks prices way too high to justify more than an occasional visit.

So given the new happy hour I thought I would give it a go.

For the life of me I could not suss what they are up to. Every single dancing girl in the bar was packed on the stage. There were about 15 but as late comers rolled in they would get changed and then add to the pack.

The girls were slightly above average with just a couple revealing their tops. The stage was a bit too packed to really allow for much in the way of dancing.

Certainly not worth watching, nor were there any girls that were free to sit at your side for a chat.

I was totally baffled by the lack of entertainment value in the the proceedings and my visits will surely remain occasional.

  Review by April 2009: Plateau

The gogo is pretty sound with good looking girls dancing on the central stage with little in the way of clothing. Then there is a play mat stage and a Jacuzzi at the back of the bar.

Drinks prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly.

Somehow I have drifted away from making this a regular stop on my circuit. A couple of times it has been a bit depleted of girls and another couple of times the girls have been bagged by younger and more attractive customers.

Maybe I get the impression that they prefer the customers who like to sit back and watch the dancing rather than those that prefer one on one company. Just a matter of available ratio of girls.

But still worth a try, I think I have just been unlucky.

  Review by Ray, March 2008: Moving up the League

Bit tricky to find, this bar, it's tucked under the Polo Entertainment Centre and its entrance is permanently obstructed by the crowd of rubberneckers gawking up at the gyrating Natasha in the Galaxy Cabaret window.

Once you do manage to locate it you will find a bar that's deeper than it's wide with the front section set up as a standard go-go and the rear section fitted out with a jacuzzi and a sexy show table.

I've visited this bar a few times now and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I picked out a dancer that caught my eye on the way through and went back to check out the show. To my surprise the showgirl and my dancer seemed to hit it off and as there weren't too many other customers around we soon had a nice three way going.

When the show was over the showgirl leant over and whispered to me that she was really pleased I had brought that particular dancer over as she fancied her herself but hadn't had an excuse to get her hands on her before!

Lollipop is rapidly moving up my personal league table.

  Review Feb 2008: Naughty Table

The bar is slowly progressing and now have enough girls to keep a steady 2 girl show going on the show table. They follow in the traditional naughty mould of Windmill and Baby Dolls etc. Suitably friendly to keep me entertained for an hour anyway. There is also a Jacuzzi but the naughty table gets top priority when the numbers are low.

The main stage is a traditional Isaan shuffle affair and still seems to lack a little momentum. Nothing really amiss, probably just a matter of time as people get to know of the bar.

Last time I visited I spotted a few girls newly recruited from Sisterz.

  Review Dec 2007: Jacuzzi

I popped by and noticed that the bar has joined the ranks of those with a Jacuzzi feature. I sat at the back where the Jacuzzi is located and watched a pretty girl doing some lone ablutions. It was the last number of her stint and there was no replacement act.

After a bit of prodding by the mamasang the Jacuzzi girl came across for a chat. But at the very moment she sat down a service girl cam homing in like a missile to suggest that I should buy her a lady drink.

This was way too pushy and I left pronto. I don't suppose that it is anything but bad luck, but this bar is something of a disaster zone every time I have visited.

First impressions was I liked it, and nothing happened that night to make me change my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the girls. OK, not that many, but it is early days yet.

I young bubbly girl who was only up to my chest came a took care of me. Not pushy for drinks. Both she and the Mamasan were in Soi 6.

  Update Nov 2007: Getting There

A brief visit a few days after the hectic opening day revealed that the bar has employed another half dozen girls and persuaded some of them to discard a few items of clothing. Billing problems have also been sorted.

  Review Dec 2008: Lonely A-GoGo

Its been a couple of years since there was a gogo in Naklua. (19-69 Club closed its doors in summer of 2006).

The new gogo is a square basic looking venue with a central stage and bench seating around the sides.

There were a dozen dancers on duty of which half were dancing. They were dancing in the full range of undress from nude to bikinis. There were a few attractive girls amongst them. The bar was operating two shifts of dancing, each for 6 song stints.

The music is oldie farang friendly rock.

The happy hours draft beer was well cheap at 39 Baht. The lady drinks are cheap but they have the standard/tequila/cocktail scheme at 80/100/120 Baht that is so prone to abuse.

The girls ignored me but the mamasang helpfully pointed out that all the girls were new to Pattaya and did not know what expected of them. No doubt they will have to learn quickly otherwise customers wont stay long.

I'll give them another chance though, the bar seemed a pleasant enough place.

  Review May 2009: Red

The bar seemed pretty much unchanged from previous incarnations.

There are still 4 bays of comfortable sofa seating overlooking a central dancing area now cut down to 2 smallish stages. At the other side of the room there is quite an expansive bar counter. It all looks pretty good with the sumptuous red theme that is traditional to the bar.

The dancers were generally a little below par and were a little overdressed dancing in skirts, knickers and bikini tops.

There were about 8 girls on duty, 2 of which were dancing. A couple were sitting with customers and the rest were sitting out front.

2 of the girls were good looking but unfortunately I was the 3rd in line. The 2 pretty girls were in fact looking after their customers well, but my assignment was a bit prim and proper, so not really much to stay for.

The draft beer was a reasonable 60 Baht.

  Review June 2009: Middling

Now a very traditional gogo with not really much going on except the stage full of girls. The bar still seems to err by having too many girls dancing and not really enough on hostess duty. But better ratios then about a year ago.

There are about 10 girls on stage and most are bikini clad with a few topless. Probably about average for Pattaya but that means there are several that are attractive. The dance roster is too long and if your girls says I go dance, then the best reply is: ok I go check bin.

From what I have seen recently the bar is struggling for customers. I've not really helped out much by staying for a second drink, I have been ignored, double teamed and targeted by the bar oldie.

The draft beer is reasonably priced.

The bar is not a million miles away from getting it right but at the moment is does not seem a roaring success.

  Review Jan 2009: Naughtier and Better

Things seem to have improved at Naughty Girls. The bars has recently abandoned its policy of making all available girls dance and there are now a few that available for a chat.

Also a general air of happier girls may also have led to a few more of them taking their tops off for dancing. The unrevealing black boob tube that they used to wear has mostly been left in the changing room where it belongs, and small standard bikinis are now the norm.

I am told that the lady drinks are now more tightly controlled and customers are no longer stung for the expensive cocktail. It is hard to check this out though as I make such a point of ordering a standard lady drink that I am unlikely to get the girls trying it on.

In fact I was very well looked after by a friendly hands on dancer and would have been tempted to stay longer if it wasn't for the still overly long dance roster of about 7 songs.

  Review May 2008: What's Going On?

I've given up on this bar as I can't really work out what is going on.

The good news is that there are plenty of good looking dancing girls. The bad news is that they are nearly all set continuously dancing.

It may look good to have a bar full of dancing girls but I prefer to have a bit of company.

As far as I can tell the girls are only excused dancing when they have a lady drink in front of them. And when they order a tequila you don't get much time for your money. I walked out pronto when my lady drink only excused the girl from dancing for one song.

  Review Oct 2007: Military Precision

The bar seems to be doing well under the watchful eye of the Tina Turner look alike mamasang.

There were a fair few good looking girls both on stage and quickly by your side. In fact the service girls proved very personable and very hands on too.

The bar is still running a policy of excusing girls dancing duty if they have a lady drink in front of them. However with military precision, the moment the last sip is taken, the mamasang appears from her observation post and orders the girl back on stage. She can jump back off stage into your lap immediately the drink is replenished.

As long as you hit it off with the girls that you select (or indeed the girls that select you) then this bar can be very enjoyable.

The music was OK, car alarm but at least listenable, and there were plenty of girls on stage and scattered around the joint.

I had a couple of young ladies accosting me with the usual “What you name, where you come from?” line, but without the added, “buy me dlink?” Even though no chance of a barfine, they still remained friendly and chatty.

A show involving a pair of young ladies supplied with bananas was done with fun and by the time I was ready to leave I thought the den has certainly improved in quantum fashion in recent times.

It mightn't be the best in town, but it's definitely worth a drink or two.

After having found a comfortable seat I looked up at the stage to see a dozen good looking girls with few clothes to share between them.

I relaxed to drink my free first beer and all was well.

I glanced round at the bar to find that it was well crowded with appreciative customers enjoying the show.

There are plenty of service girls and there are plenty of managers and owners and the like if you would like a chat.

The drinks are reasonable and the barfines are competitive.

The bar is also a no hassle bar where the girls leave you alone unless called over.

Not really my sort of bar though, the no hassle policy coupled with a high ratio of customers to girls usually ends up being a lonely drink.

  Review Nov 2008: Too Good

A very popular that always seems pretty full or else totally full. The bar surely must be doing something right.

Maybe this is down to the free beer tickets dished out by the welcome staff. Or maybe it is the reasonable drinks prices once you have finished the freebie. Or maybe it is the cheap barfines to partake in a little later in the evening.

There are plenty of girls to go round with many of them good looking. Also the bar tries to keep hassle down to a minimum. Unfortunately this often means that the girls don't bother you enough even to say hello. No problems if you call them over though.

There are showgirls featuring sexy but not choreographed shows.

Music is strictly selected to keep the dancing girls dancing.

There are plenty of farang managers on hand for those that like to mingle with the barkeeps.

Something good for everyone then...except of course, those that like a quiet drink.

  News from New Living Dolls One, Oct 2008: Bed Tax

The tub is gone for now, it was under 2 aircons and as such the girls were always getting sick.

We have replaced it with a big red BED, yes we still have the mirror in front of it. The girls have been taking there turn at bed time play with odd guy wanting to join in .

Yes our bar fines did go up from 400 to 450 and from 200 to 250 we also had to increase our happy hour from 39 bt to 49 bt. Guys sorry for doing this but after 3 wholesale increases which we did not pass on it finally had to happen.

In the many opportunities for contemplation offered by bars where the girls seem to regard me as The Wrong Sort Of Customer, I have formed my own view of what makes a great bar. It's fairly simple really: lots of attractive, uninhibited girls wearing as little as possible in a space big enough to hold lots of them but small enough to keep them in close proximity to the customers.

This is just such a bar. Sure, there are experiments with the usual gimmicks, the jacuzzi show, the corner coyotee dancers, but nobody pays much attention to them and I doubt they add a single baht to the bottom line. For all practical purposes a bar is the girls, and you won't find a friendlier, sexier bunch than this anywhere.

  Review Sep 2007: Bustling

The bar seems to have returned from the recent closure, renovation and police crackdown pretty much unchanged.

The bar still has an awful lot of dancing girls and they are a friendly and pretty crowd. A fair few cram on the stage at a time and they were mostly dancing topless.

The shows were tame and now are barely distinguishable from the gogo sessions. But this does not seem to have a big impact on the bar.

In terms of renovations, it does not seem very different. But there is now a less cramped toilet for the guys and there are lights in the table dancing stages which I didn't notice whether they were being used or not.

I probably didn't notice because I was being well entertained by the girls.

  Review May 2009: Lost Faith

The odds of an enjoyable visit seem to have diminished.

There are some unattractive girls who do the circulating around the customers. There are a few attractive girls but they seem locked to the stools at the door presumably to entice passers by.

The net result is that this has become a bar that does not deliver. And there's plenty of nearby bars that do biz.

If you are lucky enough to get one of the pretty girls at your side, then the bar can be quite hands on.

I think the location is excellent for the bar. It is the first bar in Soi Diamond and you see an avenue of touts ahead of you. It is then so easy to just dart in the first one rather than run the gauntlet of quite hasslesome touts.

The bar probably does a steady trade in people tempted in, but who stay just for one drink.

  Review December 2008: Right or Left?

The girls of New Star A-GoGo vary their short time rates according to which side of the bar you sit on.

On the left the table menus show the all in package as 1950 (600 barfine + 350 room + 1000 short time). On the right hand side the menus show a total of 2450 with the girl's share being 1500 Baht.

Either way it seems very expensive.

The bar has a very mixed selection of girls ranging from very pretty to very not. The prettier girls are anchored to door with an invisible bungy cord. They are employed more to attract passers by than to look after the customers inside.

If you are up to being manhandled by the oldies, the bar can be quite good fun. But I always feel for the unaware newbies who get ruthlessly exploited by the girls given half the chance.

  Review April 2008: Door Decoration Girls

A Thai run gogo that inevitably provides a good home for staff who maximise their earnings from relentless hassle of customers.

The latest wheeze they have is for the only pretty girls in the bar to be anchored to within a few paces of the door. They parade around topless such that customers peering around the door get a good eyeful of a pretty girl. If they are convinced then they will shuffle in to find a seat, only to realise that the majority of the girls are second string. As with the pretty girls on scouting duty at a beer bar, it seems difficult to get the door decoration girls to sit with a customer.

The bar isn't entirely without merits though, as hands on fun is readily available here.

However the chances of finding both a pretty girl and one who doesn't hassle too much, make for a rare entertaining visit.

  Review July 2007: Uneven

Unsurprisingly similar comments to the recently reviewed Nui's 2 as both bars are under the same management.

This is a small gogo with a prime location as it has first dibs on customers walking up Soi Diamond from Walking Street. The bar is surely in need of a bit of sprucing up.

The bar features the whole range of girls, fat, thin, young, old, pretty & not. I think it is the luck of the draw that there were a couple of pretty girls in the bar. Actually one of the pretty girls was anchored to the door so as to give unrealistic impressions when guys would look in to check out standards.

The girls dance at all levels of undress suggesting that it is surely "up to them".

Some girls hassle, some don't, some girls are hands on and some aren't.

A totally mixed bag, but the odds are a little too high of a duff visit for the bar to retain many, if any, regular customers.  However there is surely a chance of being lucky and having a good time.

  Review Nov 2006: High Pressure Hassle

The hassle started before I had sat down as a girl decided that she should take care of me before I had even had a chance to cast my eyes over the bar.

She was sent away pronto only to be quickly replaced by another who was given equally short shrift.

On the verge of leaving I spotted a pretty girl I knew, so I said hello and she came over. Whilst catching up with news a 'sister' came over in search of a lady drink and refused to take a polite 'no' as an answer. A stern 'no was required.

And that was not the end...another girl came across and was also pretty aggressive on 'demanding' a lady drink...apparently on the grounds that I had said hello to her before.

I finished my drink a bit quickly but at least my chosen girl made some good sexy attempts to get me to stay.

And to be fair a few other customers in the bar did seem to be enjoying some good close up interaction with the girls.

  Review Sept 2006: Shoddy Treatment

I was just introducing myself to a pretty girl: Where you com from?....Where you go? Mid sentence the mamasang whisked her off to another customer, no apparent sign of a barfine or previous acquaintance, just shoddy treatment.

I was left feeling lonesome so had the rest of my drink to scan the bar. Quite a few girls for a small bar and they made for quite a mixed bag, fat and thin, pretty and not, young and old, bikini clad and nude, tattooed and not.

And in fairness to the bar, there were a couple of customers who were clearly enjoying themselves in the company of lively girls.

  Review Jan 2009: Unbalanced

Nui's 2 has never been a very successful bar for me and I put a lot of the failings down to the layout of the bar.

There are just a couple of bench seats facing the main stage and these seem to be the only area of the bar where customers get much attention. It is also the only place where you can see the nude showgirl who performs at the centre of the main stage.

The rest of the seating only gets a side view of the main stage and a view of a shuffler or 2 on the secondary stage. Somehow this gives a vibe of 'second best' and I guess that few guys stay long when seated there. And hence they get ignored by the girls.

The girls are not particularly noteworthy but there usually a couple of pretty girls on the evening shift.

The music is strictly for the girls.

Beer price is reasonable at 55 Baht for a small draft beer, but there are no other bargains.

  Review April 2008: Lucky Dip

Very much a lucky dip this bar, but with the odds stacked against wining.

The bar tends to attract below average girls but this does not preclude a few pretty girls in attendance.

There is a fairly long dance rotation with not really much in the way of naughty stuff. Most of the girls are bikini clad but a couple go topless.

Some of the girls provide hands on fun on your lap but most tend to ignore customers.

Newbies should be very wary. Last time I visited, the mamasang was trying to push a very expensive all-in fee on a besotted newbie.

  Review July 2007: Improvements

The bar has added extra dancing stages such that there is always something to look at wherever you are sitting. Previously only a few bench seats overlooking the stage had a good view and the rest had a restricted sideways on view. The previous main stage has been converted to a couple of table dancing stages. In addition two more table dancing stages have appeared along with a small show stage in the middle of the bar.

It certainly brought a bit more life to the bar with plenty going on.

On the downside, the bar has found some very small glasses for the draught beer and the dancing roster is now an overlong 7 songs.

I would have stayed longer but the personable bar lady boy set his sights on me and I prefer to play with the ladies.

I would guess that few Walking Street regulars would have this bar on their list of favourites, or indeed any of the bars from the Nui's group.

The bar is not without merits, it has a few pretty girls and some lively dancing, drinks are reasonable and there are plenty of service staff on hand. Indeed there were a few customers clearly enjoying fun with a girl on their laps.

The negative side seems to be a lack of customer QA. Management style is distinctly light touch and the girls are allowed to hassle and hustle for as many tips, drinks, drinks for their friends etc as they can get a way with. This surely discourages regular business and means that the bar has to target newbies with a large welcome staff.

Still the bars have survived well and are continually adding new venues. They must be doing something right, even if only economically.

  Review Oct 2006: Middling

Not a very well laid out bar as only a small row of bench seats get a good view of the stage, A large proportion of the bar get just a sideways on view of the dancing.

The girls are very much an average bunch but there are some that are attractive. About a dozen of the 15 in the bar were dancing at anyone time and they seemed to be putting a fair effort into entertaining. Several were topless. All girls were wearing the almost obligatory micro miniskirts but it was not clear from my sideways on seat what they were wearing underneath.

I was approached for a drink by a personable ladyboy hostess and an oldie dancing girl. My rejection of their advances was taken as signal that I would reject advances from all girls in the bar so I had little choice but to move rapidly on.

  Review April 2006: More Honey Required

I visited a little after the 8am shift change and it was fairly quiet. There were only 5 dancing girls of which 2 or 3 were topless.

I selected one (or was selected) for a chat with a pretty girl but there were only 3 non-dancing girls and so the girl spent more time dancing than chatting so I took an early departure.

The bar is not well laid out for gogo dancing and only a small proportion of the bar overlooks the stage, the rest just get a side view of the dancing girl at the end of the line.

So with not much to see whilst my girl was dancing, I filled in the time talking to an articulate and friendly ladyboy hostess. He pointed out that the bar, although Thai owned (by Nui), now employed a farang manager. Perhaps the manager should have spotted that too many girls were dancing and that too many customers seemed to be a little lonely. May just be a post-Songkran staff shortage though, due to dancers returning home for the holidays.

Another interesting snippet of conversation was about the occupational hazards associated with the bar. The music is turned up pretty loud at the bar and so an evening's hostess chatting duty somewhat takes its toll on the voice. The daily medication is a measure of honey in hot water. And there was me thinking that the girls prefer a spoonful of the white stuff each night.

  Review Feb 2009: Half a Dozen Girls

I paid an early evening visit and found half a dozen girls in attendance of which a couple were pretty. Three were dancing on the central stage for a 3 song stint. The dress code was topless.

The drinks prices were reasonable enough but when there is not much doing in the bar then it is important that girls go and entertainment the customers at close quarters.  Unfortunately it seemed that the older girls were doing the carousing and the younger girls were reserved to give the mamasang a massage. Really not much to stay for then.

  Review June 2008:  Pleasant Enough

I pop by after shopping at TukCom but haven't yet been persuaded to stay beyond one drink.

The bar is pleasant enough but it struggles to get sufficient momentum to retain any top notch girls. There are some pretty welcome staff though, I don't know if they can be persuaded to accompany customers.

There were 3 dancing girls all dancing topless. But this was causing sufficient concern about the authorities to keep the front door locked to gain a little time if needs be.

The bar is reasonably priced and has farang friendly music levels.

  Review Nov 2007: A Bird in the Hand

A bar with its heart in the right place. It's just that not quite enough people seem to know this.

Prices across the board are well reasonable, for drinks, lady drinks, take-aways and take-ups.

The music is farang friendly as are the girls. There are usually about 10 girls in the bar of which about half are set to dancing. 3 dance topless on the central stage and the others use a side stage and a table dancing stage.

The prettiest girls in the bar are on welcome duty and I have never seen them come inside. This tends to rather emphasise the less than top notch girls inside.

A few bars try and make up for this by being hands-on friendly, but I haven't yet been so entertained in Paradise.

The bar is a fine place for a couple of drinks but I soon find it is time to move on. I coined a little saying: A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, but a hand in the bush is worth four more... And I like to go in search of the four more.

  Review June 2007: Return to Paradise

Although I didn't think about it at the time I must have been the first customer as I seemed to interrupt their opening day staff meeting still continuing half an hour into their advertised opening time.

I didn't spot many changes to the decor since the previous incarnation, but the prices painted on the walls showed that the bar intends to be very competitive on price. Bar fines are 450 Baht, lady drinks are 80 Baht and there is a 50 Baht draft beer. There was also a drinks menu on each table.

The mamasang had apparently not worked in a gogo bar and the dancing girls didn't seem to have much more experience either.

Nobody seemed to know much about making introductions so it all seemed a little shambolic, but the mamasang was doing her best to go around asking. The heart seemed in the right place so I am sure everyone will learn quickly.

The opening cast of dancing girls were a little middling and they were reluctant to take off their bikinis but that is often the case. The monetary benefit of revealing a little more soon puts things right ,and success usually draws in a few more cuties.

Early days, but I think the prices will impress and give the bar a good chance.

  Review Jan 2009: No French Kissing

Paris is a very straightforward gogo which tends to mark time whilst the rest of Pattaya marches on to ever naughtier levels.

The were 6 dancers on the central stage, either topless or bikini clad according the girls wishes. They were an average crew but the average is pretty good on Soi Diamond. There were another 8 girls waiting to dance.

The girls are not very quick to try their luck for a lady drink, but if you make a signal you may be able to attract their attention. I spoke with a girl, and neither she, nor the wait staff were at all pushy. Not really a bar for hands on fun either.

A pleasant enough, well run bar, that still lacks a little innovation.

  Review May 2008: No Can-Can

A predictable single beer visit 6 months on from my previous look see.

As usual there were a few pretty girls, but as usual no one made any efforts to make contact.

The beer was not cheap, as there is no draft, but then again, it is not expensive as there are bottles at 80 Baht.

I was struggling to think of much to say about the bar so I went somewhere else to consider my prose.

The bar needs a little je ne sais quoi. Perhaps a little Can-Can would help.

  Review Aug 2007: Few Negatives

Very little changes in Paris. There are currently about 25 girls working in the bar of which 8 dance on the central stage at anyone time. They dance for 4 songs and bikini clad or topless seems to be the dress code.

There are several attractive girls in the bar but I get the impression that they are not so interested in touting for business.

The bar is lacking in innovation and has become a venue for a single beer approximately every 6 months.

Still the drinks prices are reasonable and there are few negatives about the bar...just a lack of positives.

  Review Jan 2007: Hardly the CanCan

This bar is one of several Soi Diamond that are declining by marking time. Competing bars are upgrading their appeal with naughtier shows, Jacuzzis, naughtier girls, high energy atmosphere or simply packing their bars with cuties. Paris continues with basic dancing and demure lady drinking. The trouble is that the prettiest girls go with the flow, and so the girls that remain tend to be the slightly less attractive.

That does not mean that all is negative, the girls are still up for a chat, dance topless and the bar always seems well run and friendly. The ongoing 70 Baht for a bottle of Singha is always good value.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, July 2006: Keeniaw

Not very busy. After sitting down and I was double teamed immediately. The demand for a lady drink came up quick but I politely refused. This resulted in myself being called "keeniaw".

I observed the slightly overweight dancers (ok, some slim girls were available as well) and the "lady" next to me inquired if I was interested to have one of them. Shaking my head got me another "keeniaw" so I decided to check bin.

  Review Feb 2009: A Palace Indeed

Surely a fun palace with lots going. The bar is consistently busy.

There's the main stage with topless girls, a side stage with nearly nude girls and a cage with fully nude girls. And if that isn't enough there's a few table dance podiums and a topless bar. There are always plenty of attractive girls to select from.

The bar is in the mould of Happy, Super Baby and Super Girls in that most customers sit watching, rather than playing, presumably readying  themselves to pick a number and go. But of the quality quartet this bar is the most likely for the girls to try their luck for a lady drink.

Drinks prices are reasonable and this must surely generate some of the return trade. Also the bar does not mess around with a complex barfine structure. It is just a single standard rate.

It is probably the fact that you are not messed around by drinks prices or barfines rather than the actual level that appeals. If you are on a budget you may find the premium rates asked for by the girls is on the high end of the scale, and rather counteracts the advantage of the cheapish drinks.

There's a couple of gripes though, the bar employs toilet jockeys and the majority of the comfortable seating does not command a very good view of the best dance positions. So stool seating is the norm.

Peppermint has now introduced sexy lesbian shows to its many styles of entertainment.

  Review May 2008: Watchability

If you've got a good formula then stick with it. And that's exactly what Peppermint continues to do. Nothing much has changed in the last couple of years and that includes maintaining a healthy amount of customers.

There is still the combination of topless main stage with occasional shows, side stage with nearly nude dancers, cage with fully nude dancers, knickerless table dancers and a topless bar.

Plenty to watch but not quite so much to do as in the naughtier bars with hands on fun. In fact putting the best looking girls in a cage seems positively mean.

Perhaps, because the watchability takes priority over the playability, this means that the bar caters more for Asians than farangs these days.

Still the girls are pretty, the drinks are reasonable, and the male service is very efficient.

A sure bet to stay popular.

  News from Pattaya Addicts, Nov 2007: Discriminatory Entrance Fees

It seems that Peppermint have started charging a 200 Baht entry fee to Asian customers.

Their door staff are now equipped with several signs.

First there is a sign saying 'Full' used to turn away South Asians and Arabs (A common Pattaya policy, said to be based upon safety for the girls and the higher risk of misogynist attitudes from men from those parts).

There is now also a sign indicating a 200 Baht entrance fee. This sign is used for Asian customers or perhaps it is targeted at Japanese visitors.

Farangs are waved in without let or hindrance.

Went in and the place was really packed. The staff hardly couldn't find a seat for me.

There is one major stage where the girls are topless and 2 minor ones in the corners where they are naked.

As I like a bit of interaction between me and the girls on stage, this is hardly not possible because the place is so crowded. You can have a girl on your side if you ask the service staff that is mainly male, which I don't like.

  Review July 2007: Bristling

As always there is plenty of activity going down at Peppermint. It is easiest to define the bar by what it has hasn't got, just a Jacuzzi. Otherwise they have dancing of all types and at all levels of nudity. Nearly always featuring attractive girls.

I was particularly smitten by a pretty girl in the cage but couldn't work out how long the stint is before a shift change. The girls on the main dancing stage have a fairly long dance as they shuffle through a couple of dancers at at a time.

There are a more than enough free girls in the bar to entertain the customers personally but on the whole the place is a hassle free environment where the customers seem to prefer to watch.

Saying that, when I was eventually approached, the girls did so as a hasslesome double team.

Never really a bar on my favourite list though, too many male service staff, a slightly sneaky lack of happy hour draught beer and an ongoing failure to connect with the girls. Perhaps they have developed, or self selected, a slightly more commercially oriented cast of girls than other bars.

  Review April 2009: Playaway

The bar targets Asians and East Europeans with a mix of gogo and unerotic shows with darts and whistles etc.

There are no welcome signs suggesting prices as no doubt there is a cover charge including first drink for some whilst farangs breeze in unmolested for the normal pay as you go price structure. The draft beer was reasonable at 65 Baht.

The bar is narrow with central stages, two dancing stages and a Jacuzzi. The naked girl was soaping herself throughout and the dancers were bikini clad.

The girls were friendly enough and would pop over to inquire of your birthplace. But they weren't hasslesome if you preferred to be left alone.

In fact a perfectly decent sort of small bar with many of the usual gogo entertainments.

There was one tiny little almost insignificant problem though...the girls were well below Walking Street average.

  Review Sept 2008: Pleasantly Surprised

I was rather suspecting a bar that was a bit more hardened to fleecing the bells and whistles crowd but the bar was not such a lost cause.

The steep steps up to the first floor bar wouldn't survive health and safety rules in Farangland. They are pretty unattractive as aesthetically too.

But inside the bar is bright and attractive along similar lines to Airport below.

There are 3 stages, 1 is for gogo, the other alternates between gogo and bells and whistles shows for the tourists. In the centre is a Jacuzzi complete with a a suitably soapy girl. There are no seats near, so no chance of any hands on fun.

All drinks prices are reasonable and the standard for the Nui's group bars. So no premium to watch a show you didn't want to see in the first place.

The gogo girls were a little reluctant to take their tops off and there are none of the the cuties that are reserved for downstairs duty at Airport Club.

I spoke to a couple of the dancing girls and it made for a very pleasant couple of drinks. They were not pushy and were charming hostesses with plenty of tales from a longish gogo careers.

The service was also good.

  Review from Materialsman, Dec 2008: Totty Laden

I entered into a packed auditorium and was led to a table close to the stage.

The first thing I noticed was that to my surprise it was not completely filled with Asian coach tour parties, yes, they were a presence in there, but I would say it was 50/50 Asian/Caucasian crowd in there. I ordered my bottle of Heineken in the full knowledge that I would be charged like a wounded rhinoceros, after all it is a Show Bar as opposed to a Go-Go Bar, and sure enough it was 120 baht, frankly not too bad after all.

I was joined by a rather comely wench who slid in next to me, and a drink for the lady was 140 baht, again no more than I had expected, and she was good company for the duration of my stay.

What of the shows I hear you ask? Well, on another Forum yesterday there was a topic about ‘Theme’ Go-Go Bars, and to that poster I say, get yourself up to Polo, there are some very pretty indeed girls up there dancing, and indeed hostessing in the place, plenty of lingerie on display, topless and indeed fully naked shows, and one I saw with a little bit of latex clad pseudo bondage and whipping in it, I was sorely tempted to get up there on stage when they were looking for volunteers to dish out a little ‘punishment’, but my newly acquired best friend was keeping me busily occupied with some social intercourse, so I sadly declined the offer, though I did get my comeuppance when they came off the stage and mingled with the audience, ouch! I can not say if the shows get a little raunchier later in the evening, but for simple ‘totty’ laden entertainment, I would say it is worth a look.

Tall girls with alabaster skin do the shows. But these shows are just over elaborate, rehearsed, circus type acts. Not erotic.

Every now and then all the girls would get up on stage, lift their skirts and wave at the audience. Incredibly, loads of guys rushed forward to press 100 baht notes in these girls hands.

I asked one of the service girls if I could bar fine one of the dancers on stage who were doing the shows and she said Lady from Bangkok, they not go. Apparently they bus these dancers in every night for the show and then they go back evey night. You can look but can't touch.

Unlike most bars these days which are well decorated, inside this bar is absolutely bare. It is just like a school canteen with high uncomfortable stools to sit on at wooden round tables. They have not decorated inside there for about 10 years. No comfy couches, no interesting decorations unlike every other bar.

It is just a place to get tour party people who have never been to Pattaya before to part with their cash.

There's a really cracking line up of pretty ladies in Polo on Walking Street, a great collection some of the prettiest ladies I've seen in any bar in quite some time.

The atmosphere is less pleasing. The venue specifically targets tourists and most of the audience are short term tourists, often from other countries in the region. Beers aren't cheap at 140 baht apiece, a most un-Pattaya like price, but this is one venue I would definitely bring visitors from out of town to - the ladies are very pretty and the shows a little different to what you see elsewhere.

Just don't be shy to shoo the girls away when they try and hit you up for a tip after the shows - and have the audacity to sneer and hiss if you dare give anything less than 100 baht.

And the aggression in Polo is not limited to the dancers. One member of the male wait staff was most displeased at my choice not to leave a tip. Having cleared the tray of the coins, he stood right next to me and eye-balled me for 60 seconds, the buffalo somehow thinking that that might influence me - or scare me - into leaving a gratuity. Dreadful stand over tactics it must be said. Observing the goings on, I couldn't help but notice staff harassing customers for larger tips - and I can see why they do it - because most caved in and coughed up more, 20 baht all too often becoming 100 baht. Don't give in to this nonsense!

  Review Sep 2007: Tip Hungry

I have read several reports of the girls expecting large tip s for hanging with the customers and extracting such with menace eg:

The show is good, but the hassle is too much. The girls DEMAND 100 baht tip and if you do not do so, all hell breaks loose. One girl stood in front of me and SCREAMED to draw attention to me. On another visit I saw a girl at the next table hand back a 20 baht note and say No, I want 100!.

  Review Aug 2007: Tour Appeal

The bar was popular with a good turnover of Asian tour parties. There were also farang couples who seemed to be enjoying themselves.

Choreographed shows are the usual entertainment but there were also gogo girls taking to the stage in bikinis with the tops occasionally pushed aside.

The shows are a bit old hat compared with Angelwitch, eg Hawaiian dancing shows, but they seem a little better here at getting audience participation, which was going down very well.

There were hostesses/dancers/showgirls circulating amongst the audience introducing themselves by massaging your shoulders. Again being pro-active meant that a lot of girls were being treated to a lady drink.

Probably a bar that would not appeal to your typical expat/monger, but you must give them their due, as they know how to entertain their target audience.

POLO was on my list of places to take visitors who are not candidates for the 'real' Pattaya nightlife. That means that I go there once or twice a year. It has indeed been months since my last visit and will be a long time until my next.

In short, POLO has dropped the ball. The choreography of the shows used to be crisp and practiced. No more. The dancers are just going thru the motions. Perhaps the management has just stopped trying. The place was full of the usual bussed-in Asian tourists. Nothing against them, but they are herded about by their guides. They are lucky to get to see the hour-long show cycle. Then they are herded on to the next venue.

The management has a guaranteed income for an over-priced cola from each of the sheep. This makes for little incentive on part of the performers. The overall effect is one of mediocrity and complacency.

  News March 2009: Bells & Whistles Shows

Rocket A-GoGo upstairs on Soi Diamond seems to have taken a change of direction. The previous manager Kuhn Artit has moved on to Gamebird 2 on Soi 15. The bar has now become a bells and whistles show targeting Asians and East European couples.

The welcome staff signs for cheap drinks have vanished so presumably the drinks prices have inflated somewhat. Draft beer is 110 Baht and bottled beers are 130 Baht.

The bar seemed to have more customers than in its previous incarnation so must be doing something right.

I found a new place for me, Rocket GoGo.

Seated beside the jacuzzi I found two pretty girls and I could play with them too. Very friendly and the service staff were nice to me - an old man from Europe.

  Review Sept 2008: One Fatal Flaw

There are many good things to say about the bar, particularly for a Thai run bar.

Drinks prices are good and there is a little hassle from the girls or staff. All the usual gogo entertainments are there including the almost inevitable Jacuzzi.

There seems just one thing missing, pretty girls!

Getting customers to upstairs bars is always difficult but its seems that getting the girls to climb the stairs is nigh on impossible.

Access: They have chopped off the last few yards of the beer bar below to make an entrance lobby. Go upstairs (usual steep thai steps). The gogo is on the first landing. If you go further up, you could find the room(s) for gogo girls that are too tired and need to take a rest...

The Bar: Nicely laid out with good bench seats round the edge and tables with chairs. About 8 girls on stages, while two girls were washing in the Jacuzzi. Appears the changing rooms must be small, so they had to wash in public!

Drink prices were sensible and sticky signs round the top of the mirrored walls with the "price list". Draught Chang was 55 Baht.

Smokers: They have realised bout the new No Smoking Ban and have converted one of the men's toilet cubicles into a Smoking Room (or so the sign on the door says).--- quick thinking that! Well done, even though I am not a smoker.

Yes, I will go back and give it another go. May not be many girls there yet, but some friendly and I am willing to follow up their approaches... I think the BF was 600 Baht, which is pretty standard these days. Did not have the time to find of what the girls wanted... Most seem fresh from the countryside, or so their dancing skills told me (I was taught about reading dance skills a long time ago from an ex-gogo girl in Bangkok).

Entrance is narrow staircase right before Paris a Go Go. The, what has become usual, interior for new go go's - stage for 4-6 girls, jacuzzi, comfortable seats, etc., etc., etc.

Line up was less then spectacular.

You really have to question the wisdom of someone opening a new go go on the second floor as the season winds down. Even many of the ground floor go go's can barely get more then a handful of customers these days.

Not yet worth the climb up the steps.

  Review Jan 2009: Come On Down

The bar now has a few more girls but still does not operate in a traditional fashion.

About half of the 10 girls in the bar dance at any one time. They dance for 5 songs strictly in bikinis. They are quite a select cast and are all attractive. They are good at smiling at the customers while they dance too.

Yet as soon as they finish, the smiles are turned off and they find a seat and wait alone for their next dance.

The mamasang offers the chance to get a girl down, but that seems to entail an immediate lady drink. Maybe a personal thing but I don't particularly like calling down girls via the mamasang. It sort of implies a little more interest than I like to show. Much better to make it less formal and invite a girl over with a one to one smile or a gesture.

  Review May 2008: Thrown Off

I cannot work out what how this bar is meant to work. They had just 6 girls in attendance and 5 of them were dancing. This meant that there were simply no girls remaining to circulate amongst the few customers.

How are they supposed to get a few lady drinks when they are dancing all the time?

What is the customer expected to do, get bored watching the overdressed bikini clad shufflers. Presumably one could quote a number to the mamasang and takeaway a girl, but this business model only seems to work at high end bars with very attractive girls.

To be fair, the girls were attractive though. I am sure I would have bought a few lady drinks if the opportunity arose. But it didn't, so I moved rapidly on.

We came in just half a hour before closing time.

Its a small gogo with a small stage with 4 girls dancing and 8 girls remaining to entertain the customers.

Since I didn't expect too much, I was really surprised by the above average girls, that were also very friendly. (maybe they wanted a bar fine regarding the late hour).

We really liked the place and will certainly pay another visit.

  Update from Rodeo Girls, Oct 2007: New Perceptions

After 10 plus months of being under new management the bar now has a reasonable number of locals that frequent the bar and a very decent percentage of return customers.

We have made a conscious effort to change the perception of the bar since taking ownership and, we believe, the effort has been successful.

We look forward to celebrating our 1 year anniversary on Dec 2.

  Review, Aug 2007: Back to the Real World

Strange times indeed, the last remaining bar in the group that has helped price Pattayaland off the expat's favourite gogo list has reduced its prices to a more reasonable level. In particular lady drinks have been reduced from 150 Baht to 110 Baht. I am not sure if the barfines have also been reduced.

The bar had 4 dancing girls on the side stage and plenty more hanging around on hostess duty whilst waiting for their turn to dance.

There were a few pretty faces amongst the girls and they were making an effort to circulate and say hello. There were a fair few customers too, so hopefully the lower prices will have a positive impact.

I would have stayed longer if it was for the fact that the draft beer was undrinkable...mai aroy.

  Review April 2009: Good for One Chang

A pleasant bar in which to stop off for a Chang beer which is on permanent promotion at a very good price.

You will be treated to a good erotic show with some good looking girls. If you catch the gogo shift then you will also find a stage full of good looking dancers too.

Thinking about it, they have some good looking welcome girls too.

But from the good start, it all goes down hill a bit for me. The girls don't seem particularly interested in carousing, at least amongst the oldies in the audience. So usually the one cheap Chang is enough, and I am off to find a bar where the girls are a little more likely to jump on to your lap.

  Review Sept 2008: Curtained Off

Since I last stopped by the bar has scaled down to half size by curtaining off about half the seating.

It was probably about the right size for the amount of customers, but I was unlucky and the comfortable seats were full. So I was guided to a stageside stool which means I was highly unlikely to stay beyond a single drink. I really really do like a comfortable seat for my money.

There were about 4 pretty showgirls doing the sexy shows and about a dozen girls doing the gogo dancing. Only one of the gogo dancers took off her top and none of them offered so much as a smile to the stageside audience of one.

There were a few dancers left over for hostess duties and these were all cornered by a party of Japanese.

So with no interaction and an uncomfortable seat, it made for a rapid departure. But apart from the always hated toilet jockey, there's nothing too amiss about the bar. If they could have spared a few girls for customer service I would probably be raving about the place.

  Review by Ray March 2008: Soft Spot

I've always had a soft spot for this bar because it always seemed like they were trying, even when it wasn't working too well, and I quite liked the original layout of theatre stage and runway, which was unique and suited some of the shows very well. It now has a center island stage just like nearly every other go-go.

The supposed aim of the remodeling is to get the girls closer to the customers, pity no one has explained this to the dancers, because you're more likely to be entertained by a service girl. When I suggested a ladydrink to a dancer sitting near me I pretty much had to explain the concept. She then sipped the drink while staying a demure six inches away from me. Not my idea of getting closer to a customer.

At least the bar now has service girls, which is an improvement, but instead of replacing the service boys they seem to be supplementing them. Curiously, the manager was formerly of Carousel, which also has service boys. Perhaps he likes them. Anyway, I'm pretty sure customers don't because there is always the suspicion that they are the boyfriends of the girls, which is inhibiting.

While the remodel does make room for an extra row of bench seating, which is a definite plus, this bar has always had seating layout problems. The benches seem to have been made for a different bar, being shorter than the wall they are up against, and apparently nobody can figure out what to do with the corners.

The bar has always had a cold feel with its stone floor and glass tables, and the remodeling seems to be trying to take the edge off this with some artificial plants, including hanging some plastic pot plants from the ceiling. It looks as ridiculous as it sounds.

The shows seem to me to be not quite as good as they were, but they are pulling in the customers. Perhaps Roxy is The Future Of Entertainment as it claims.

  Review Jan 2008: Re-Modelled and Improved

The previous large stage has given way to a smaller narrower stage in the middle of the room. This has enabled more bench seating to be added along the vacated side wall.

The new centre stage is also surrounded by stools for those that prefer ringside action.

A similar mix of shows has been retained with standard topless gogo dancing, interleaved with choreographed costume shows and naked shows.

There are also 2 new small stages one with a couple of 'nurses' doing their thing. These aren't particularly naughty compared with other bars and the nurses were bikini clad throughout.

There were plenty of pretty girls in attendance and there seemed a fair amount of variety to keep customers entertained.

The improvements surely improve the bar and with 65 Baht bottled Chang, the bar is very good value for money.
