  Review June 2010: Afternoon Flight

For a change I tried Air Port on its afternoon shift. Surely not a patch on the evening shift.

There were about a dozen girls in attendance of which 4 or 5 were dancing on the front podium stages. Nothing going on in the fun stages towards the back of the bar. The girls were mostly working just the afternoon shift and were a few notches older and wiser than the evening girls.

The dancing uniform was a bit naff with bras rather than bikini tops. A couple of dancers were topless so this is presumably down to the choice of the dancers.

There is a cheaper 55 Baht draft option in the afternoon but that is because the bar is more or less on par with the cheaper options in the afternoon.

I chatted to a girl who worked both shifts, which maybe was a mistake, as she seemed all geared up for lady drink demands as if it were a mega crowded, mega fun bar with lots of alternative options for her. Only it wasn't, as there were only about 5 or 6 customers.

It is probably better to stick with the more specialist daytime gogos. Less expectations on both sides makes them a more laid back option for afternoon drinking.

125 Baht for bottle of Singha but with the amount of naked flesh around, well worth it, and no hassle at all for lady drinks.

OK if you're near the Jacuzzi or bed/stage at the back you will get a tip pot rattled at you, keep a few 20 Baht notes in your wallet for these occasions.

I  have read on Forums that Airport is too loud, too expensive, too small, but f**k me sideways, they are doing something right, and those stewardess uniforms are something else, I love the way they appear to have a sort of colour ranking with the uniforms, from the beautiful blue of the stunning Hello girls and some service girls, there are also white uniforms, red ones, and I even spotted one lady in a black suited get up, very, very sexy in my view, and I am known amongst my peers as an incorrigible pervert of the highest order, with a known predilection for schoolgirl uniforms, but this stewardess concept done Airport Club style blows that right out of the water, even the naked Jacuzzi girls maintain tiny parts of the uniform.

The Club was absolutely chockers, virtually standing room only, and I had to make my way back to the Jacuzzi areas before I could squeeze myself onto a stool. If you think being trodden on is a potential hazard in the Iron Club, then you wouldn't like Airport one bit! It was so compressed in there wedged between the wall and the first Jacuzzi, it was almost uncomfortable, but I didn't give a flying f**k, there were so many naked girls squeezing past me that I managed to cop a feel of more naked, tight ass in an hour than a Catholic Priest gets in a lifetime! I feel I have to mention one of the Jacuzzi girls, simply the largest pair of natural tits on a Thai girl I have seen in years.

The girls here last night were just simply awesome, the dancers, the show girls, the service girls, Hello girls and all, if you can just block out the awful, loud car alarm music played in there, it's the hottest joint in town, and I wouldn't hesitate to bring a newbie into here for his first taste of life Pattaya style, I think it would be enough to make him faint, even the Pope would have a ball here right now, I just wish I had more time to be a regular visitor here.

Another girl on the platform next to the Jacuzzi was rubbing her pussy up rigorously again a chrome pole, there were wet foam truncheons being smacked against naked flesh with reckless abandon, there were gorgeous, skimpy uniform clad girls gyrating on stage, total bacchanalia, if I die, please place my ashes in an urn on the window shelf right here opposite the Jacuzzi's, so I can enjoy the deliciously decadent, debauched scene for all eternity. There is really no other option available to me than to give this place a 10/10 based on last night.

  Review June 2009: Business Class

The bar must be doing something right as it is very busy during a very low season.

The bar is closest in feel to What's Up. It has half the bar devoted to gogo dancing on a small set of stages and then at the back of the bar it has a water feature and play stage with girls doing a continuous naughty show. And in common with What's Up it has the Thai run potential to be a bit overly ruthless on the quest for money.

The gogo dancers were mostly bikini clad with an odd one taking her top off. The prettier girls were assigned to the fun stages at the back and were generally having fun with the customers willing to feedback the fun.

The service staff make a mark with their fetching air stewardess uniforms which definitely add a unique atmosphere to the bar.

I was stuck in the only available space in the Club, well away from the bathtub and Jacuzzi action, and right under a speaker close to the Club entrance, nursing my 120 baht bottle of Heineken.

I will certainly be returning once the Christmas and New Year Bar Fine wallet gouging levels are over, so, like a News of the World reporter, after really enjoying the company, I made my excuses and left.

I have to confess to being a big fan of AngelWitch. It's formula is different from other bars and clubs in town. There is, or at least a while back there was a high standard of performance, choreographed scenes in beautiful costumes that were as creative and artistic as they were erotic.

Those standards seem to have slipped a little in the last year. It's still a great venue, one of the few venues in town where you can take a date and she's going to enjoy the show.

My last visit a month ago left me disappointed, with it's reliance on formula bawdy sketches that you could imagine seeing in any part of town, or even participate in at some of the raunchier clubs in town like Windmill and Babydolls. My date was bored. She sat through the sketches unimpressed and spent half the time checking her watch.

On my visit this week, the show seems to have been revitalised somewhat. We have some new comedy scenes, Tina Turner impersonations, acts with a live Python, and of course the statuesque Oi is on stage in many of the scenes, to impress us with her sensuality. Unfortunately, the lady with the acrobatic talents, who could swing between the steel poles with the skill of a trapeze artist, appears to be missing. Still lots of entertainment, and a show well worth watching.

My date this night loved the show, she smiled and laughed throughout the comedy acts and appreciated the beauty of the costumes and the talents of the show girls and actors. She watched in awe as the girls descended from the overhead gantry, sliding down the chrome poles.

We decided to stay for the next show and watched as the go-go girls descended onto the stage. The go-go dancers at AngelWitch are amongst the hottest on Walking Street.

Great entertainment, well worth a visit.

  Reader review Dec 2009: Hassle all the time

There are many girls and a show, but drinks are quite expensive (juice or soft drink 150 Baht).

The worst of all is the staff, who hassle all the time asking you to order more drinks. It's not a place I would recommend.

Bar fine 800. Lady 2000 one hour. If you want the lady all the night, get ready to pay 3000 up. There are many places much better than these one.

Although the shows are noted as high quality the bar is currently taking a persistent knock on the Pattaya forums for hassle.

Complaints include a minimum drinking speed for customers and continuous drinks hassle from the staff.

Drinks are expensive and the girls quote short and long term rates to match.

I first discovered Angelwitch in April of 2008 with a couple US Marine buddies. Even with the high prices we were addicted from the start! We even saw a lot of couples there…

We ended up there every night and I went home with the same hot lil’ cutie every time. And I thought I was a true butterfly! Not with this one. Mamasan always made her wait for me… Now that’s service!

…When I managed to make it back to Pattaya in August, my little darling was no longer working there but mamasan was and she made damn sure that I had my pick of any girl on stage. She even offered to call my original girl back just for me. I declined of course and took full advantage of mama’s kind offer and walked out with a different girl every couple of nights. With mama as a friend and as long as I took care of the girls, no hard feelings. Because my first drink was always with the head mamasan or the staff my friends and I were always well taken care of… I’ll always make a point to drop in to Angelwitch for a little “Home Coming” whenever I’m in Pattaya.

I'm no longer a regular visitor to the bar due to the very expensive drinks.

The shows are worth the money for those that like choreographed shows. In fact the shows are about the best in town.  I also find it a very good place to go with visitors who may not like the mongering bars that I prefer.

However most of the time I am in participation mode rather than watching mode, so paying extra for shows doesn't appeal.

But there are an awful lot of visitors in town who prefer watching over participating, so the bar does deservedly very well indeed.

  Review July 2010: Unsurprised

I have dropped by a couple of times since the opening but have found that the bar has gotten very boring very quickly.

Perhaps I arrived at too early an hour but the bar was almost empty of customers. On the plus side there were still some very pretty girls.

The bar had about six girls dancing an overlong 6 song dance stint. About half the girls were topless.

After finishing their dance duty, the pretty girls seemed content to hide in the corners and around the back, leaving the customer interaction to the oldies and fatties.

I have a feeling that the younger girls were awaiting Japanese customers as a few dropped by. Perhaps the bar has invested in some promotional material with a Japanese target market.

The bar has replaced the cheap draft with cheap bottled chang.

  Review February 2010: Surprised

I was well surprised on my visit to the bar. Rather than few older girls reported my previous visitors, the bar was full pretty girls. There were about 20 dancers and perhaps 15 of them would get a job anywhere on Walking Street.

I rather suspect that there was something temporary going on as it was left to the older girls to go and ply their trade and sit with the customers.

The small bar is well laid out with comfortable seating mostly with a good view of the side stage.

There were 6 dancers at a time on stage wearing a bikini or half according to their wishes. The music was a little loud and selected for the benefit of the dancers rather than the customers.

With cheap drinks, surely the recipe to attract a few customers from Soi Buakhao. It will be interesting to see if the current attractive dancing troupe can be maintained.

I saw 10 dancers in the bar. 4 of them were dancing on the stage. Most of them wore  bikinis, but a few of them were topless.

A Jacuzzi has been built  on the upper floor. But the Jacuzzi and show time will have to wait until there are enough dancers.

  Review August 2010: Reliable Customer Care

The bar is sticking to a good system, and has now maintained high standards of fun for a long stint.

The bar has two threads of entertainment. There are the naughty show girls that have a circuit of the the play mat stage and then the Jacuzzi, working in teams of two. They are amongst the naughtiest in town with props such as bananas being put to good use. Plenty of customers will head straight to stage side seats for the 'shows'.

The other option is the more traditional centre stage gogo dancing. The available girls split into 3 teams (2 later on the evening when a fair few girls tend to drift away with customers). The girls dance just a few songs before a shift change for the next team. This works really well as the girls spend most of their time earning tips and lady drinks by sitting with customers.

The girls seem to generally prefer sitting on your lap rather than sitting at your side. I am sure this does wonders in terms of tips earned.

It is one Pattaya's best bars for a reliable chance of good close up, and hands on, customer care.

The only times I have ever made a hasty getaway is when the bar gets a bit crowded and there aren't enough girls to go around. There's nothing worse than watching other people enjoying themselves so much when you are missing out.

  Review April 2010: Always Good

Baby Dolls remains consistent to its hands on approach to customer care, and rightfully seems always busy.

Whilst other bars, with standoffish girls and few customers, must surely look on in envy. But in reality popular Walking Street bars seem to have two basic paths to success with a bar full of customers. One is to have the prettiest girls in town to look at, and the other is to get girls who are interactive with the customers. After all these are the two things that customers come to Pattaya for.

Baby Dolls has a central stage for gogo dancing, a play mat for naughty shows and a similarly naughty Jacuzzi.

The dancers have a nice short stint on stage for just 4 songs. So customers are happy to wait for their playmate to return to their sides. Early on in the evening there are enough girls to run 3 shifts but as the barfine toll takes its inecitable course,  the bar will drop down to 2 shift working. This means that early on the girls can spend 2/3 of the time with customers and later on, 1/2 their time.

I find that Baby Dolls is one of the few bars that offer a consistently high chance of finding fun enough to stay for a fair few beers.

  Review by jj, July 2009: Most naughty to most demure

Baby Dolls continues to enjoy its place among the top tier of Pattaya haunts. The bar has it all and gets it all right! From most naughty to most demure -- even the service staff -- are friendly and attractive. If she sees you without a lady, Mamasan comes over to ensure that all is well. Plenty of action everywhere one looks. If there can be any complaint whatsoever it is that the electrical system seems bit dodgy. On two consecutive visits, the power has failed but within 10 minutes the fault was located and music and a/c restored. .

  Review July 2008: Better Than Ever

The bar is very good as outlined in previous reviews. Unfortunately for the high season months it was a bit too good. I gave the bar a miss for a few months simply because it was hard to find a seat, let alone a girl to take care of you.

However the low season has depleted the excess customers and again there is a good chance to take part in some of the almost legendary entertainment.

There are touch feely shows on the play mat, the Jacuzzi and also on part of the main stage. There is also more traditional gogo dancing on the central stage and a few table dancing stages.

The service is friendly but sometimes a little stretched by the amount of customers.

The drinks prices are very reasonable.

There are plenty of pretty girls on hand but maybe not quite the top selection in Pattaya, as maybe the interactivity is a little too much for many girls.

Having read other reviews about Baby Dolls my wife and I thought we’d have to check it out.

The other reviews were spot on for the liveliness, lots of nakedness, interactivity and downright good fun.

The only place we stayed for more than one drink.
The only place that we ST’d a girl.
The only place that we could say we were welcomed and looked after by the mamasan, service girls and dancers.
The only place we felt they wanted us to be there, and to stay.
The only place where the smile was the norm, and not the exception.

Coupled with reasonably priced beer and happy hour until 10pm, we gave this place top marks and first on the list when we visit Pattaya again.

Baccara is one of the most impressive clubs in town. The owners also run Baccara in Bangkok, and they've a created a unique concept that has the potential to be a great go-go bar. It seems to have almost everything a go-go club needs to be successful. There are two floors, effectively two clubs in one, as each floor has a different ambiance.

The downstairs area has a large central stage, but no shower, Jacuzzi or play area. There's about 20 girls dancing in rotation. The stage is big enough for a dozen girls or more, but there's usually eight go-go dancers on stage, dressed in bikinis and fish net stockings, and high heels. Some nights the bikini and stockings are white, other nights the outfit is black. Pretty standard stuff. The girls are attractive enough and reasonably friendly. There's great service, good music that doesn't make conversation impossible, and reasonable drinks prices.

The upstairs area has a sunken dance stage with a glass floor and fireman's pole for rapid descent to the lower floor. If you're in the right position on either floor, you can see the dancers on both floors.

The girls outfit on the upper floor is different, a short skirt and bikini top made of a see-through material, and ankle length basketball style shoes and socks. Quite different from the ground floor girls' outfits, and it's obviously designed for more fun and action. The girls generally remove their bikini top, and don't wear panties. When the opportunity arises, they create their own fun and games, swinging on the chrome poles, and engaging in all kinds of simulated sex acts.

Add to this some loosely choreographed shows later in the evening, basically different costumes, and some new moves and you have the recipe for a great evenings entertainment.

Since the opening in December there have been a few changes to the upstairs layout, with the addition of two small dancing stages, but they are not well positioned and get little attention from customers.

The initial impression when you walk into the club, is a formal atmosphere, a large central dance floor, male serving staff, and no play area. This cool, somewhat inhibiting atmosphere has an impact on the girls behaviour. They don't spend much time making eye contact, they seem totally engaged in watching their own image in the wall mirrors, and chatting with their friends on stage. Great eye candy, but not a lot of fun if you are looking for interaction.

I had more success making eye-contact with the girls on the floor above, while sitting in the downstairs section, as they flirted with me through the glass floor, lifting their microscopic skirts to reveal no panties and great contours.

The girls in the downstairs bar at Baccara are good looking but not exceptional as I would have expected. The successful clubs attract hot girls, but that doesn't seem to be happening at Baccara. Perhaps the girls understand the reasons why, better than the owners. The girls are friendly enough, once you make the connection, but the initial impression is that connection seems harder to make here than at many of the other Pattaya go-go bars.

The upstairs girls are a lot more interested in interaction with customers. Their outfit suggests fun from the moment you see them. A lack of wall mirrors shifts their focus to customers, and the sunken dance floor means the dancers are at eye level with those sitting in the armchairs around the central stage. The upstairs bar also has about 20 dancers, with 8 girls rotating on stage. There seems to be a high turnover, with new faces there every time I visit the bar.

As part of the fun atmosphere on the upper floor, customers throw Bt 20 notes or the more expensive ping pong balls, (for which the girls get Bt 20 a piece). The girls shriek and squeal as they race around the floor trying to catch flying notes.

With all the skill, experience, and ingenuity, not to mention expense, that went into creating Baccara, it should be the one of the best clubs in town, ranking alongside all the other great go-go clubs in Pattaya, like Airport, Peppermint, What's Up, SuperGirl, Happy and Windmill. It's certainly a great club, but it lacks the magic that you feel from the moment you walk into Airport, the energy that you feel at Peppermint, the almost endless stream of cute girls that Happy has, and a soul that permeates Windmill, ensuring every visit is a fun occasion.

While the service levels are very efficient, the male serving staff put a damper on activities. When there's no service girls, there's no opportunity to interact with them like at Windmill, or New Living Dolls, where it seems a part of the evenings entertainment.

A combination of men serving staff, a large central stage and girls who are more interested in their own reflection, than making eye contact, creates a formal almost hands-off, unfriendly feeling.

These criticisms may seem harsh, but at the end of the day, most go-go girls in Pattaya would like to interact with you in the style of Airport or Windmill, if only the infrastructure and the operational management allowed it.

I've had several impromptu interactions with girls at Baccara, that suggest they are willing but may be a little inhibited with the formality of the place.

On one evening, I was climbing up the spiral staircase, to the upper floor. I stopped to allow two of the girls to pass me. They were in no hurry to reach the lower floor and blocked my passage with their bodies, pinning me against the rail and smothering me all kinds of affectionate embraces. An unexpected encounter that brought a big smile to my face!

Baccara is definitely worth a visit. While it's clear that the owners are not trying to emulate the raunchy environment at clubs like BabyDolls and Windmill, they have a more formal, up market style in mind. The result is they have created an ambiance, at least in the downstairs area, that's somewhat chilly and unfriendly. Most customers don't make it, to the upstairs bar. So they miss out on the fun part of Baccara.

Time will tell how successful their concept will be.

  Review March 2010: Rapidly Evolving

The bar must be doing something right as it has rapidly become one of Pattaya's favourites.

So surely time to pay another visit.

There was a generally lively atmosphere and plenty of girls on stage and off. They were a well above average set of dancers, both in terms of attractive girls and in putting an effort into dancing.

There were a dozen girls on stage changing 2 at a time. This means a dancing roster of a longish, but typical 6 songs. The girls were mostly topless but a few were more coy.

It seemed to be a fun place to drink.

I would have stayed longer but I got pissed off by some uncalled for heavy pressure from ping pong ball sellers. I can easily ignore such nonsense but the 2 girls then moved on to a newbie sitting next to me. They were way too aggressive and I didn't really want to stay in a bar that allows their customers to be treated like that.

Note to newbies, don't waste your money on ping pong balls. The moment the whooping and laughter has died down, your contribution will have been forgotten. The same amount of money will be more appreciated as individual tips to the girls that provide you with personal company. They will usually remember you on your next visit and will be keen to hook up again.

  Review February 2010: Bar Psychology

Baccara must be one of the most focused bar designs in Pattaya. The downstairs floor is totally dominated by the large central stage sporting a dozen girls with plenty of space for more.

On one side of the plush bar there is tiered comfortable seating overlooking the auditorium stage. The bar goes one step further than most, by providing ring side armchairs. Inevitably these are facing the stage and this adds to the domineering focus of the dancing stage.

There were a dozen dancers on stage either topless or bikini clad depending n the wishes of the girl. They were surely above average and were putting more effort into their dancing than most bars. The music was dance friendly and set quite loud but sensibly not as loud as some.

There is an upstairs bar area where the dance floor is transparent and located directly above the downstairs stage. Presumably if you are sitting around the main stage you can look up to the upper floor dancers and see that they are wearing less than their downstairs sisters. I couldn't see anything of note from the side seats though.

The wait staff is male and they are dressed in striking polo shirts. Presumably not intended, but this is very reminiscent of bouncers and security staff at Farangland venues. The fact that these guys tend to circulate around the stage whilst serving, gives the impression of them patrolling and guarding the girls.

The whole bar design reminded me so much of the places back home where I really would rather not be. With unattainable pretty girls hiding behind glass or else guarded by bouncers ready to slap you down should you make any attempt to get near the dancers.

Of course this is simply not the reality at Baccara. The girls are as friendly and approachable as you would expect. And the guys really are there just to serve you a drink.

Maybe just me, but I didn't really enjoy being reminded of the restricted fun allowed in strip bars back home.

  Review by Ishi, December 2009: Happy Prices

Baccara A-GoGo had a soft opening on 17th December with an opening party to be held on 18th December.

The stage of the 1st floor is almost the same as Happy in Pattaya. Bikinis or topless and the uniforms are changed daily

And the 2nd floor is almost the same as Baccara in Bangkok. The dancers are topless with short white shirts and mini skirts. And most of them don't put on under pants.

The stage of the 2nd floor is made of glass, so it's possible to see the dancers from the 1st floor. There are a lot of sofas for the customers like Bangkok.

The number of the dancers are much less than those of Bangkok. 1st floor:11, 2nd floor:7.

All prices (including Happy Hour, Bar Fine and so on) are the same as Happy Group.

Baccarat began shows on 18 Dec. The show girls are from Beach Club. I watched 2 shows  one is naked dancers and the other is topless dancers.

  Review June 2010: No Hassle

The bar has been a successful part of Pattaya nightlife for as long as I can remember. In town of spirals, Beach Club gets top notch girls, the customers follow and hence the bar can recruit the top girls.

The bar features table dancing, mostly at tables with a bay of comfortable bench seating. There is also a slightly larger table doubling up as a centre stage.

The girls do a very long and slow rotation around the tables. Not really a bar where this is a big issue as most customers seem to be content to watch the dancers, no doubt in anticipation of a takeaway selection. There are also hostesses in evening gowns.

The bar is a no hassle bar in that girls generally only approach if signaled to do so.

There's a cheap draft beer and prices are reasonable for a popular bar. In common with the other bars of the Happy group, the wait staff is mostly male.

I really like the Beach Club, although I seldom look at the dancing girls displaying their freshly shaven havens, not because I am shy or favour the bushy bush look, I actually do prefer a bald or trimmed pussy, it's just that I think this place has some of the most beautiful hostesses in town so my gaze is always diverted to them, plus you can actually sit quite comfortably on the sofas and enjoy the beer without being hassled if that's what you prefer.

There was some pretty fine looking girls dancing in actual fact, and although the Bar was fairly busy, it doesn't seem to be popular amongst the locals doing their nightly crawls, no problem with that, all the better for me, a solid 9/10 in my humble opinion!

Into Beach Club, stepping through the curtain about 9 p.m. and perhaps because it was a Friday night, quite a reasonable crowd in there.

I am not a lover of the table dancing type places, but certainly this place doesn't seem to be on many Board Members nightly perambulations, in fact I did a search for reviews and got pretty much nothing by way of a recent reviews of the place. Now, being a shy sort of chap, I find it hard to look the girls in the ahem, eye so to speak, in this place, and frankly I have never seen much eye candy up on the tables to make it worthwhile, what I have always found however, is that the place has some of the most beautiful and smartly dressed hostesses in Pattaya, and sure enough within about ten minutes we were hit upon by two beauties, one that grabbed me was a real honey, and the one with my friend was gorgeous, slim, sort of back combed hair, loosely modeled on Amy Winehouse, except without the skanky tattoos and heavy drug problem, an assumption confirmed when one of her songs was played on the sound system, that fact in itself must make the Beach Club kind of unique.

  Review Jan 2009: Never Changing

I have been popping by Beach Club for 4 years and I am sure that just about nothing has changed. Maybe there is now a little less emphasis on a 20 Baht tip for the girl to squat down. Presumably the novelty has worn off somewhat.

The bar is always popular, the girls are consistently attractive and there are always plenty in attendance.

Maybe the draft beer has gone up 5 Baht in the 4 years which shows consistency in attractive pricing.

And for some reason I consistently fail to find any girl showing much interest in your reviewer.

I guess it is more a bar for watching than playing but the management of the bar consistently know what's best to get the customers in.

Truely a Pattaya success story.

  Review April 2008: Watching

The bar always seems popular. There are plenty of pretty girls who dance on a pretty long circuit. Most girls are knickerless under skirts with open blouse. Some wear more and some wear less.

A few customers were being looked after by the girls, but mostly this seems to be  bar for watching rather than interacting.

Small beer glasses mean that the 55 Baht draft price tag is not quite the bargain it appears. But nothing to complain about.

Tips are the usual order of the day to get a closer look at the dancer. But saying that I didn't spot too many customers with a fistful of 20's to give out.

Always good to see a popular but I left it for those that were enjoying and moved on to a more interactive bar.

When I entered at 1am, I found myself in the middle of a party. There were lots of girls most of them average but a few pretty ones also. They are all topless with skirts with nothing underneath. Some dance naked.

Got into a talk with one of the more beautiful and energetic girls and apparently one of the popular girls.

The more beautiful girls can make more money on tips, lady drinks and ST than LT so that is not a popular option. It's all about money.

We stopped in at Beavers where I always seem to get a good reception. We had a few drinks, and some hands on time with some friendly girls. My friend had an enjoyable time with a very cute girl, although his comment was, he didn't like the layout much. I guess you either like a table dancing club or it just doesn't work for you.

The girls at Beavers wear micro skirts and no panties so it's all a question of where you sit in the club. Do you look across the room and look into the girls eyes, or look up at the girl at your table, and smile at her beautiful curves!

Beavers is one of the few table dancing clubs that seems to work in my experience. I usually have some fun there, so I thought this might be a good place to refuel before continuing my evenings exploration.

There were about a dozen girls, two or three good looking girls, and about 7 or 8 customers. The uniform is an attractive red satin outfit, with a short pleated skirt and a bikini top, rather clumsy platform boots and knee length white stockings. The girls wore no panties but none were topless.

  Review Feb 2010: A Short Break

The bar closed for a few days last week reportedly for a bit of rework. But if that was the reason, I couldn't spot anything that had changed.

There was a good crowd in the bar and 6 of the tables were being used for dancing. Unfortunately there were not really enough spare girls left over to look after the amount of customers in the bar.

The girls were dancing 2 songs at each table making a dance stint of 12 songs. Ludicrously long for anyone waiting for a girl to finish.

This was probably not a major issue though, as there weren't really that many girls that would inspire such a marathon wait.

Still, the girls were friendly enough and the customers seemed to be enjoying themselves. So I left them to it.

  Review May 2009: Dance Marathon

The bar is consistent in its pros & cons.

The plus side is that the bar employs good looking girls who are generally hands on friendly.

The negative side is that the girls have a marathon dance roster of 2 songs on each of the 6 tables in the cycle.

The table dancing girls also angle for a 20 Baht tip to squat down for a close up show. But I find this a little passé and keep my tips for those giving good attention at my stool.

The bar employs quite a lot of girls for a small bar so it always seems lively.

  Review Dec 2008: Always Worth a Try

It took me a long time to work out how to get the best out of the bar. It can be good fun but there are several pitfalls to avoid.

What makes the bar is that the girls are hands on, friendly and generally good fun. The downside is the overly long dance stints couple with the inconsistency of numbers inherent in a small bar.

So what do is first of all is do a quick scan of the bar. If it is barfined out, and there are few girls in attendance then a U turn is in order. Try again another day as the girls will spend all their time dancing.

If there are sufficient girls, then I choose the table at the back left of the bar which is the last on the dance rota. Choosing the girl from this table enables a decent amount of time before she has to go dance again.

And the chances are then good for a memorable visit to the bar.

  Review May 2008: Plenty on Show

I have read a few good write ups of Beavers of late saying that there surely are some naughty girls in attendance.

I have always been a bit sceptical though as I have missed out on the fun in several visits and not even seen much naughty stuff going down with other customers.

But a recent visit pleasantly confirmed some of the rumours.  I was well looked after by a very friendly and hands on girl.

Not quite an ideal bar though, as there are a few fundamental flaws. Firstly the bar is too small for any comfortable seating. Secondly the dancing stint is too long, and when your lady go dance, it is a cue to move on to the next bar. Thirdly I am simply not keen on table dancing. It gives me a crick in the neck and I find it somewhat undignified to stare up at a girl.

Update:

It has been pointed out to me that maybe I should have cast my gaze downwards. I would then have spotted the mirrored tables and perhaps also the inspiration for the name of the bar.

A new GoGo for the new year of 2009. The venue was previously Spicy Girls A-GoGo. The bar has ownership connections with the Eden/Harley Bar. During the low season of 2010 the bar proclaimed itself to be a pub rather than a gogo. Now listed as a bar but soon closed

They have 10 freelancing girls that are supposed to work there... but being Thailand.. there aren't many at any one time

The boss says that this will soon improve. He also says that he is opening a new bar in Jomtien soon.

The best dancer is a short girl with the nickname - Moon - Really nice girl in many ways. she is the youngest in the bar at 25. And the rest need a 10 week course of dancing lessons too.

The DJ is open to requests and they have got more music than just Dance tunes!

  Review Aug 2009: Pleasant Low Key Gogo

This unobtrusive bar has lasted a few months despite the difficulties of running a small scale gogo.

On the positive side it is an attractive modern looking gogo. It seems to have quite a few staff for a small operation, with bar staff, a cashier and a DJ. The DJ plays mostly dance music but a few Arabic tunes had crept in on my last visit.

There were just 6 or 7 dancers with 3 of them dancing at a time strictly bikini clad. 2 or 3 of them were pretty enough to take away. They do a short dancing stint which is always a big plus for me. I am sure it would make the bar a bit more appealing were the girls to take off their tops.

There was a reasonably price draft beer available although not advertised by the welcome signs. It is always worth advertising a reasonable draft beer price as I am sure I am not the only one in assuming that if there are no signs, then the drinks are most likely expensive.

Anyway I was pleasantly entertained by one of the girls, and I found myself staying for a fair few drinks.

Betty Boup has now changed hands and his closed fro a rapid refurbishment. It will re-open shortly as a GoGo with a new name. All the Betty Boup staff and girls have relocated to Passion Dance Club opposite.

  Review September 2009: Ideal Location

This bar continues to get my regular trade as a good place to pop into when a stroll down Soi 6 has failed to provide a tempting enough distraction.

The bar provides a reasonably priced draft beer served cold in a decent sized glass.

There's usually a fair few girls acting as lap warmers and the lady drink prices are reasonable too.

The dancing is a bit of an after thought, but really this does not matter much if you have a nice girl on your lap.

The bar seems to do well in terms of the number of customers. I am always a bit surprised that other dancing bars don't try and copy the essential model, ie that you can find a girl on the inside rather than selecting one at the door.

  Review April 2009: Nearly Traditional

The bar is still going strong providing a venue on Soi 6 where you can go in without selecting a girl out front. Especially good on those days when there doesn't seem anyone who quite fits the bill, but you really would like a cold beer.

Betty Boup is more or less a traditional gogo except that maybe the girls are angling for short time rather than long time.

There are generally 4 or 5 girls on the stage in gogo skirts and bikini top. The girls have recently proved forgetful in terms of knickers.

The beer and drinks are priced at a friendly level.

So given that most of the gogo elements are good, and that the girls can be quite hands on, fun should be assured. But in reality it is very much up to how you click with the girl on your lap. Some girls can be a bit pushy and some can give up a bit quick if a rapid short time is not on the cards. But somehow that is the Soi 6 rub. One simply has to enjoy the moment and if it doesn't work, then you can look forward to the next try.

  Review Nov 2008: End of the Run

Betty Boup does me proud as somewhere to pull up for a beer, should no-one else attract my attention when running the Soi 6 gauntlet.

But somehow it rarely captures me to stay for very long. The bar seems jam packed with pretty girls, but somehow they always find a few oldies to offer to 'take care' of me.

If you don't succeed in finding a suitable girl to 'take care' then the entertainment is pretty minimal. Just 4 or 5 girls shuffling and overdressed in bikinis.

The bar is basically sound, the drinks are reasonable and there isn't any undue hassle. If only the pretty girls would jump on my lap, then I would think it was the best bar in North Pattaya.

  Review March 2008: Wide Range of Girls

Betty Boup always seems to have a fair few customers so it must be doing something right.

The bar is basically a short time bar. But the method of selecting a girl is far superior to the Soi 6 norm of momentary glance as you walk past. At Betty Boup you can relax a little before making up your mind. You can have a drink and a look around with out committing. And even watch the dancing.

The girls are generally fun on your lap, but of course are pretty quick to suggest retiring upstairs.

There's a wide range of girls in the bar, both in looks and outlook.

I've had a very mixed bag of good times and not so good in the bar but it is always worth a return visit.

  Review February 2010: A Little Bit Different

At first glance the downstairs bar operates pretty much as per most Walking Street GoGos. There is a small dancing area in the middle of the bar were a few girls dance in the usual range of attire.

The remainder of the girls circulate amongst the customers in the comfortable seating arranged in bays. And hands on fun is definitely available at this bar.

There is usually a mix of girls with a similar range to nearby bars.

But there seems to be a different set of rules with regards to interactions with the girls and tipping.

No doubt down to attracting more Asian customers than farangs, due to its Pratamnak Road location. Perhaps understandably, the bar has adapted to these changing needs.

My impression is that one has to be very quick to buy a lady drink, lest you get categorised as a time waster.

Having made the upfront investment, things return pretty much to the usual pattern for a while with the girls being good fun. However after an unspecified while, I got asked for some outlandish requests for hundreds of Baht tips. No problems in refusing these requests but time to leave anyway.

Anyway a pleasant enough couple of visits, but not on my regular circuit.

  Review June 2009: Pretty Girls

I heard rumours that some of the girls that had previously moved on from Coyotee's A-GoGo had ended up in By-Blos. And indeed, the downstairs bar is now boasting 10 or so very pretty girls. I can't say I recognised any of them though.

They also have made a good improvement in that some of the girls now dance naked.

I was also intrigued by the booth that was curtained off, surely looks a promising idea.

I would have stayed longer but the girls didn't seem to be overly interested in customers and the 65 Baht draft beer was a bit off. But interesting enough to schedule in another visit.

  Review December 2008: Bells and More Bells

I was ushered in to the ground floor bar with half a dozen coyote dancers. I am afraid I associate excess clothes with an excess of prices and an excess of unfriendly attitude, so I back pedalled and opted to go upstairs.

I did note that it seems strange to have different styles of entertainment on different floors when none of the staff pointed out available options. I didn't spot any signs suggesting that there was a gogo upstairs either. One presumes that the welcome staff think they know best where to guide people.

Upstairs the bar was well into a bells and whistles shows And if you like that sort of thing, then this bar seems to do the complete works with every variation on the theme that I have seen to date. It was interminable with not a single act being anywhere near sexy.

There were dancers waiting in the wings but the tedium of the show predictably got to me first.

Draft beer was a reasonable 65 Baht and the service was good. No hassle from the girls either.

It seems that the bar hasn't proved a long term hit with Pattaya farangs and the bar is now targeting customers using touts on 2nd Road. This tends to attract a more Middle Eastern/South Asian customer base than the Walking Street norm.

The bar has also opted for bells and whistles shows

And just to complete the transformation to inanity, the draft beer is now set at 90 Baht and bottled beer is 140 Baht.

  Review July 2010: Shown the Door

I'm not out much these days due to shitty business and no money and, apparently, I'm not the only ones. I did go for 2 of the big beers at Casnovy last night and noticed there were no shows being offered.

Chatted with one of the longtime mamasans and said all the showgirls had been shown the door. No more shows at Casnovy. The owner decided that the showgirl salaries were just too expensive given the shit economy.

They've been supplanted by 2 rotations of nude girls who, when not dancing, sit with customers, smile on stage, have a good attitude and only a notch below the showgirls on the looks scale. As opposed to showgirls, who look down their own noses on stage then go sit in the back afterward.

I, for one, would hugely applaud more bars – particularly farang-owned ones – following suit, knocking the showgirls they elevated to such lofty perches, down a couple pegs. Dancers? You can stay. Showgirls? You're fired.

Loved it!

  Review February 2010: Consistent

The bar was one of the market leaders in setting up a loud and lively environment inside and a large team of very attractive welcome girls outside. The same spirit is now most popularly exploited by Airport and Iron Club but Casnovy is still pretty good.

The bar employs way too many dancers, hostesses and wait staff for the amount of customers but it gives the bar an illusion of being continually busy, even when it's not.

The bar usually has about a dozen dancers on the go spread across the 3 rows of stages. The less inhibited girls generally stay on the centre stage. The dancing is punctuated by naked shows that are not really so different from the standard dancing.

I've usually found some good, attractive and friendly company from amongst the dancers but it is not really a 100% guaranteed deal.

The draft beer is cheap and served in bigger glasses than most bars.

Usually this all adds up to a good time.

  Review June 2009: With a Little Help from my Friends

I had read a couple of forum postings that Casnovy had declined a little. The bar still seemed to be doing fine to me but saying that the dancers that I know there were nowhere to be seen.

But all was not lost, I know service girls there too, and I was soon set up with an attractive replacement. She proved good company and so I had a good session.

The bar has plenty of girls both dancing and on hostess duty. Chatting to my service friend it seems that service staff aren't allowed to sit with customers. I thought this was a bit strange as there well enough servers to cover for a couple staff taking time out to sit with the customers.

Beer prices are reasonable and the music wasn't quite so loud as during previous visits.

So still on my list of gogos well worth a visit.

  Review Jan 2009: Upward Path

The mix of very loud music, a massive staff and reasonable drinks prices put Casnovy on the top tier, especially over the busy season. The bar seems very lively at the moment.

Maybe they have so many staff and girls that it would still seem lively with no customers.

The pattern is table dancing on the 2 side rows of tables and dancers alternating with naked showgirls on the central stage.

Perhaps the music volume is set a bit high for a long visit but it is an integral part of the bars atmosphere, so it is surely here to stay. I did meet one girl who left the bar as it made her ears ache though.

I've sometimes thought that the showgirls are a little fussy about sitting with customers but after getting to know them I get well looked after now.

And you still get the cheeriest good bye in all of Pattaya's bars.

  Review Sept 2008: Hearty Good Byes

There have been a few good words mentioned about the bar of late so I stopped by to have a look.

The drinks prices were fine and the service was good. Plenty of staff on hand to keep things ticking over efficiently.

Strangely nothing much had changed since my last visit. There were an awful lot of dancers on the tables at once, 15 I think. They were dancing 6 songs, 2 on each row of tables.

There were quite a range of girls and some were pretty. But only one took her top off.

None of the girls seemed to making much effort on schmoozing front and the pretty ones would vanish to the upstairs changing room after they had done their stint.

As before as soon as I gave up on the less than friendly girls, every staff member I passed on the way out gave me a cheery good bye. Pity they cant get the same enthusiasm to rub off on the dancing girls.

  Review, Jan 2007: Welcome...

Casnovy A-GoGo is pulling out all the stops to welcome customers to the bar. Patrons are greeted by an avenue of red gowned lovelies all programmed to say a few words of welcome.

The cheery doorman is equally welcoming as he passes you on to the gracious service staff who see you to your seat. Orders are then taken efficiently and promptly.

But having received your drink then you are on your own... literally! All the spare dancing girls were huddled in the corner whilst the customers were sitting on their lonesome.

Not a big issue, sometimes things click, and sometimes they don't. On this occasion the spare girls were hiding and the dancing girls weren't catching the eye.

So after downing the drink I decided to make a rapid departure.

Suddenly the staff return to hospitality mode. In the space of the short walk to the door, I was sought out by 2 mamasangs wishing me well. The door man was equally effusive with his thanks and the gauntlet of girls in red all chimed in with a friendly wave good bye.

The best welcome in Walking street and the most heartfelt good byes, but so little effort to provide reasons to stay.

They have turned the music volume down a bit though. The bar is surely worth another visit

I visited The Cavern on the opening day and the next day. The air conditioner was too strong for me, so I put off the third visit. I visited on the 3rd of June, the air conditioner was now under control.

The dancers on the 2 small sub stages were naked all the time.

The bar now has a show time on the main stage just like Peppermint (ie bikini dancers or coyotees taking off their clothes song by song until naked).

There was a crack on the glass floor which was made by a big Farang.

  Review May 2010: Theme Bar

It is fascinating to see such a strongly themed bar arrive on Walking Street.

From my corner of Farangland, everything seems totally wrong about the theme bar concept, at least for my particular middle aged demographic.

Theme bars are a plain and clear signal that they don't don't want traditional middle aged drinkers to visit. There's the touristy Camelot Castle type bar that are just for tourists. There's the trendy bars that are clearly pitched at up market customers with money to burn. Then there's the theme bars targeting the binge drinking ladies, knowing that if they can attract the ladies, then the young lads will soon follow. The only anti-theme that attracts the older drinkers is the traditional pub. Especially those with reasonably priced beer, proper pub decor and a juke box that has been kicked into touch. (This last theme has become a massive success for the Wetherspoon chain).

Anyway back to The Cavern Theme. The bar is immediately obvious as a show bar where the customer is held at arms length. The stage is enormous and decorated as if for a cabaret rather than GoGo dancers. The dancers in the giant hand are particularly well 'protected' from the audience. Surely not the most obvious psychology for a Walking Street GoGo Bar.

There are a couple of side stages with two girls in each, but again, the Peppermint cage feel keeps the audience psychologically at bay.

This rather hands off approach sort of fits in with the rest of the chain (apart from upstairs at Baccara where the low down dancers are actually let of the usual pedestal and it feels like they 'invited' to get personal with the customers, which they do).

On my visit there were plenty of girls in the bar, but they weren't the top notch quality needed for an arms length show bar. The whole concept of the bar was therefore pointless. No interaction because of the ethos of the bar and not really worth staying in terms of a show.

But as always, it is never fair to jump to quick judgments during the early days of a bar. A good bar concept will soon attract the lookers. And of course the Cavern connections have the best track record in town for employing attractive girls.

Returning to the theme of traditional bar, Cavern has adopted the reasonable price drinks of Happy, Peppermint and Baccara. The music was also at about the right volume, which was a welcome relief after a visit to the Sapphire Club.

There are a few comfortable seats along the back wall, rather badly laid out with a long table and no entry exit points. Most of the customers are probably expected to use the stage side stools as per Happy or Peppermint. These are about the only bars in town where stage side stools are popular, but again this emphasises the need for top notch talent on stage.

I have a feeling that the Happy Peppermint chain may have opened one bar too many, all relying on employing the most attractive girls in town. There simply may not be enough suitable girls to go round. But if there are enough, then this will surely be another success.

  News May 2010: Thunder Mountain

The Thai-Anxiety team got a private preview tour of the new The Cavern A-GoGo last night (May 14). The bar is now officially set to open May 19 and the only real work left to be done is on the electrical wiring.

For a space that offers the second-largest amount of floorspace of any Walking Street go-go (with Peppermint being the largest), The Cavern now seems markedly less cavernous than Sisterz before it. The configuration is surprising.

Entering The Cavern, it's hard not to think of a Disney attraction. Perhaps Thunder Mountain. The owners have bought big into the theme, with faux rock boulders lining the walls and forming lower doorway overhangs and false ceiling in the main bar.

The next thing you notice is that they've moved the stage out of the center and now runs along most of the right side. Comfy elevated bench seating with long table, runs down the left side. Close is not the adjective you'd use for the distance between the two.

The bar does feature a couple of extra showcase stages. On the left side front corner, adjacent to the bench seating, is a small stage for 2-3 girls. At the far end of the bar, in the spot where Sisterz had its showers, is another waterfall stage with running water. Finally, on the right side in the back is The Hand a showcase stage that will give the appearance the naked dancing damsel with wriggling in the palm of a giant rock hand.

As mentioned, the wiring is still being done, so no idea about the lighting, but it better be a bit on the strong side. The bar, with all it's dark brown rocks, dark leopard-like upholstered seats, dark tabletops and dark floor is makes for a, well, dark bar.

The lineup is said to be all new girls and I can confirm no Peppermint will be used in the casting of the initial lineup. No word whether it will include any Happy, Beach Club or Baccara talent. Will simply have to show up opening night in your best Flintstones get-up to find out.

The bar was full at around 10pm. Enjoyed the show that was underway. Three girls dressed in night gowns were giving some anatomy lessons, the fourth even had forgotten to bring her dress along.

When the show was over, the dancers climbed on the stage and 2 girls went to the shower cubicle to get a scrub.

It was too crowded, but the place had a good vibe and the girls were enjoying whatever they were doing. Service was exceptional.

  Review Sept 2009: Flat

This is one of the least friendly gogos in Pattaya, at least for me. The girls don't seem to take any interest in the customers with the occasional exception of obvious previous acquaintances. Presumably its the way the locals like it...which they seem to do.

The bar has a central stage that was recently cut down in size, About half a dozen girls dance topless or in a bikini.

There's a naked play mat but it has limited visibility and I have never particularly watched what goes on there.

There are also a few tables designated for uninspired coyote dancing. Can't quite see the point of overdressed dancing in a gogo myself, but it no doubt adds to the variety.

The most luck I've had for a bit of interaction is with the service girls. There are quite a few of them and they can spend a little bit of time with customers if plied with a drink.

  Review March 2009: Poor Ratios

This is gogo that maybe best reviewed by somebody else. I consistently find nothing to keep me amused whilst noting that the bar seems to be quite popular.

I guess the difference is that I like to chat and play with the girls whereas the majority of customers are content to watch.

There are several options for watching, there are overdressed coyote dancers on the side tables and there are a fair few dancers on the main stage generally topless or bikini clad. Perhaps about average as dancing teams go, but that always means there are a few that pass muster. They dance more songs than is comfortable to wait for you (should you be lucky enough to get a girl in the first place)

There are also a couple of show stages that are a little more worth watching.

Thinking about it, for me there really is just one problem with the bar, there are too many girls set to dancing and not enough making an effort for lady drinks and bar fines.

  Review from Materialsman, Nov 2008: Uncle Festus

When we walked in I glanced down to the bottom left, and there was what appeared to be a very large LCD screen showing a sort of British soft porn movie involving an Uncle Festus lookalike cavorting naked in a bathtub with two naked Thai girls and a sex toy fashioned out of pipe lagging, it was only when I got closer I realized that it was actually a live spontaneous show. The reason I had assumed it was British soft porn was the fact that no matter how hard the girls were trying to instill some life into Festers flaccid member, it was to no avail, perhaps he needed ‘Thing’ to give him another helping hand? Actually, I do have some sympathy with the guy, sympathy which he later lost incidentally, as public sex is not for everyone. So we settled in to watch the action on stage, but also with a morbid and perverse curiosity to view what was happening in the shower behind us.

After we had ordered a couple of Heinekens I noticed an LED display saying buy one get one free on bottled beers between 8-9 p.m., sadly we were in there at 9:30, no big deal as I am not a Cheap Charlie, but I thought I should mention it as it is a pretty good deal.

As for the girls on stage, a pretty mixed bunch of perhaps twenty five girls ranging from naked to bikini clad, youngish to fairly grizzled old pros, a lot of the girls seemed bizarrely to be wearing a single stocking, what’s that all about? Perhaps Heather Mills McCartney was having a garage sale of her lingerie collection before she moved out of Paul’s place??

In keeping with the Addams family theme, one of the mamasans, quite a big strong lady, appeared to be a cross between Morticia and Grandmama Addams, quite scary! Whilst the other mamasan was really quite a pleasant looking lady, nice body if I may say so, looked damn good in tight jeans. Whilst enjoying my second beer in there, I can report that luckily the two girls in the shower had finally tired of trying to inspire Uncle Festus into more salacious activities, and they had all returned thankfully fully dressed to the main auditorium, unfortunately Uncle Festus had retained the piece of wet pipe lagging and proceeded to act out his BDSM fantasies by incessantly whipping any naked flesh that come into his view, I know that these toys do not hurt anyway near as much as it sounds like when making good contact with flesh, but the constant repetitive sound of him administering a damn good thrashing to the ladies whilst standing directly next to me hastened our exit, before I was obliged to tale the bloody thing off of him and stuff it right where the sun doesn’t shine! On second thoughts, it was a good job I didn’t do so, he probably would have enjoyed it!

I must also make a mention of one other guy in there, sadly in a wheelchair with a disability, think of Steven Hawkins, yet he was having an absolute whale of a time, swigging beer and Tequilas, he had one of the best looking girls in there keeping him company, plus the mamasans were taking good care of him, and he had a huge grin on his face, good luck to you mate, after all, isn’t it moments like that that make Pattaya such a special place for us all?

  Review June 2008: Building Back Up

The 30 day closure a couple of months ago hit the bar rather hard. Obviously the closure itself hurt but then it was followed by a quiet month whilst the bar gathered back the girls and the customers.

There are now about 15-20 girls in attendance with about 7 dancing at any one time. About half the dancers were topless and the rest bikini clad. The girls were fairly average with a couple of pretty girls. I made a quick exit when approached by a near 50 year old dancer though.

There were a fair few customers but it is not yet quite back to the levels before the closure.

Drinks prices are reasonable and music is fairly restrained. The dance rota of 7 songs is way too long if you are waiting for your girl to 'go dance'. It then becomes a cue to go and have a look at Oasis just around the corner.

It is a fairly relaxed bar, perhaps targeting local residents rather than those on a flying visit.

  Review August 2010: Improved a Bit

First of all it is was good to feel that the aircon has been fixed since my last visit although maybe they are still economising somewhat.

And whilst thinking of improvements it was also good see a handful of very attractive girls on the dancing team. Still plenty of old stagers though. The bar has decided that knickers are now required whereas on a previous visit, these were considered as overdressing.

The drinks prices are still more or less the cheapest on Walking Street.

In fact the bar seems well run and a decent place for a beer.

It never seems to warrant more than a beer though, primarily because the girls seem to be always dancing with little time left to sit with customers. This seems to have been an almost permanent failing ever since the bar introduced the table dancing tables. Just too many dance positions to fill for the amount of girls sustainable by the customer base.

  Review March 2010: Old Times and Old Timers

First, the good news.  There was a very pretty girl showing her all in a Jacuzzi, recently installed in the centre of the main stage.

Secondly, the bad news. The rest! To be fair though, this is the same as always and regular customers will have gotten used to it by now.

The girls are generally below average but that doesn't mean that it's bad, the Walking Street average is pretty high. Most of the girls dance naked in Champion, but somehow this is not the highlight of the bar.

But being a regular, then I can be quite forgiving, particularly as the beer is cheap and the girls are friendly.

The toilet has needed an upgrade for as long as I can remember and now the aircon seems to be added to the knackered list.

But I still enjoyed the visit though, the downsides don't really matter much if one has enjoyable company.

  Review July 2009: Lots of Dancers

The summer low season seemed to have taken its toll a bit and the very cheap beer was no longer packing in the customers.

There were some attractive girls dancing but there weren't really enough girls in the bar to cover the large number they now have dancing at any one time. At the end of their spell they only have a couple of songs before have to mount the stage for another dance stint. The poor ratio of hostessing girls to dancing girls is always a cue for me to leave pronto. But if you like to watch, and don't want to be pestered by the girls then perhaps it is OK.

The toilets could do with a refurb.

I always have a soft spot for the bar, as I fondly recall the old days when it was the best hands-on bar in town. Now I just stay long enough to reminisce old times before it is time to move on to the latest best hands-on bars in Pattaya

  Review January 2009: Busy

The cheap beer policy and a recent refurb seem to be working well for the bar and it has been busy for the last few months.

Table dancing stages have been added in amongst the bench seating along the sides of the bar. The central stage has been slimmed down and is also a bit more stylish now.

There is a lot of emphasis on dancing nude. and just for tradition the bar have also retained the TVs showing blue movies. The music is still oldie farang friendly.

The bar has always been notable for ladies who been around awhile, and true to form, many familiar faces were still in attendance. However the popularity of the bar has allowed them to supplement their dancers with a fair amount of pretty girls.

I rather suspect that the girls get a good deal from the bar as they do tend to stay a long time.

The bar is well run with good service and no undue hassle. So it is good to see that they have established a good customer base. So much so that they have recently been able to increase their main draft beer price up to 50 Baht. Still amongst the best in town.

I still hanker after the long lost old days though, the bar used to be one of the seediest and naughtiest in town.

  Review June 2008: Still Cheap Beer

The bar often seems to have more custom than I would have predicted from the entertainment on offer.

It is quite a large bar to just rely on basic gogo dancing. There are no shows, Jacuzzis, soft stages or anything of the like.

The girls are generally on the mature side, but this is not a dictate, just the average. There are still a few girls that are easy on the eye.

Of course the very cheap draft beer must help a bit in getting customers through the door. Also a large proportion of the dancers are naked, which helps too.

Although the bar is Thai owned, there is no undue hassle from either the girls or staff.

In fact it is quite a pleasant bar to have a quick drink in. It could be rather a good bar if they could only attract a few more young ladies. (And maybe improve the loo too).

  Review August 2010: Good Visits

Customers are a bit thin on the ground at the moment. But rather unexpectedly, I have found that Club Boesche have been one of the more positive bars in looking after the customers that do wander in.

Particularly true of the Jacuzzi girls towards the back of the bar. During my last couple of visits they have obliged with a bit of friendly interaction and some good matchmaking with a few pretty girls of the bar.

Sitting at the back though reveals some of the design flaws of the bar. The Jacuzzi is a bit too far away to provide much of a show and the main stage is simply out of view. Not even enough view to see if other customers were enjoying their visit also. If it wasn't for the friendly girls that entertained me at my seat then there wouldn't be much to enjoy.

But for the moment I can report a couple of good recent visits to the bar.

  Review April 2010: Post Innovation

Club Boesché came to fame on the merits of its innovative bar design. In particular they were Pattaya leaders in installing sexy shows in a Jacuzzi. Secondly they established an upstairs floor with slightly naughtier dancers visible downstairs via a glass floor.

The bar was a big hit and the pretty girls flocked in to make it an even bigger hit.

The trouble is that competing bars copied the Jacuzzi idea and improved on the concept whilst they were at it.

Bars such as Windmill, Baby Dolls, What's Up, Silver Star 3, Airport and Iron Club all installed Jacuzzis but they also located them such that customers could sit ringside and get interactive with the girls. An even bigger hit then than the Boesché original idea.

I'm afraid that all bars with Jacuzzi shows, designed merely for watching rather than participating, are now a bit passé. They are still dotted around town, but the Jacuzzis are now very much ignored by customers.

And as the attraction faded for the traditional Jacuzzi, so Club Boesché lost some momentum and therefore some of the pretty girls and therefore some of the customers.

The decline seems to have left the slimmed down Boesché with a rather poor layout. The comfortable seating area overlooks the not so popular Jacuzzi, and is now too far away from the remaining action on the main stage. There is only uncomfortable stool seating available for those at the main stage. The upstairs area has long since been rendered redundant.

The bar still has some pretty dancers and several are quite energetic performers on stage. But on the whole few girls seemed very pro-active in approaching the customers.

On my last visit, one of the Jacuzzi girls was doing a grand job trying to drum up a few lady drinks for her and the bar, but she spread herself a bit thinly amongst several customers.

Hopefully the bar connections have a few more new innovations up their sleeve.

  News from Club Boesché, September 2009: Penthouse Pets

Club Boesché have recently contracted some REAL penthouse models from Bangkok to do 3-4 nightly shows and have been featured here at CB for the past three weeks.

These models have actually been shot in Penthouse Asia Magazine by my on staff photographer. These are not the local group who claim to be in the real Penthouse Magazine. And the difference between my girls and the other group in town is that they DO barfine.

Nightly shows start at 11:00pm.

Also  there is a 50 baht draft beer promotion that is going great.

  News from Club Boesché, June 2009: Barfine Promotion

Club Boesché is  running a promotion which started Friday reducing barfine prices AFTER 2AM to 400 baht for all dancers, showgirls, hostesses and service.

The bar has now taken on 2 new mamasans which have stockpiled the bar with 24 additional dancers this past week and include many many beauties.

The bar is overloaded with girls at the moment so they are taking the opportunity to keep the customers happy.  Maybe explaining why business has really picked up this past month.

  Review from BiLLYiSaKiD, May 2009: Sometimes Hot… Sometimes Not…

When a good friend of mine first told me of a place where we could down cold suds and watch tight-bodied women soap each other up (among other things…) in the middle of a Go-Go Bar, I was actually nervous to go… Even with all the anticipation it took us three days into our April 2008 trip to make it to the famous Club Boesche. Letting the excitement build was well worth it. WOW!! What a night… The club was packed, the girls were super hot and they actually had some drink specials going on. The music? Umm… Can’t say I even remember what kind was playing… More like a loud rumble than music but, it sure kept the girls moving…

…And with a little encouragement from our group, the ladies we were with actually stripped down and hopped in the hot tub… Two of them weren’t even on shift! Since it was early for me (9PM), no bar fines from Boesche that night but, I did set my sites on one of the hostesses who wouldn’t stop massaging me while I checked out the sites and enjoyed my drinks… “Bar fine next time” I told her.

…Next time ended up being almost four months later! But this time Boesche had almost nothing to offer… The club was dead, the available girls seemed distracted and the hot tub show consisted of a girl pretty much soaking her feet. We were so bummed… And I actually had raved about this place to the group of newbies I brought with me this time. Being newbies they didn’t have as nearly a bad time as I did. I attributed the lack of interest from the girls to us visiting during low season in August but, we were welcomed generously at other places that same night. We even gave it another shot a couple nights later but, same deal… Good looking but, same bored talent.

  Review July 2010: More Girls

The bar has enjoyed a recent surge in the numbers of girls dancing in the bar. And to add to the attraction, there are quite a few that are very pleasing on the eye.

This means that the bar is quite busy in terms of dancing. there is a circuit of girls for the tables around the outside of the bar. There is a circuit of dancers on the central stage and a couple more doing a play mat show with the usual thwack foam sticks, again on the central stage.

Plenty of girls left over for hostessing duty too. But to be honest, this does not seem one of their favourite occupations. They seem to prefer to chat amongst themselves.

Perhaps the best bet for a bit of interaction is to sit stage side and play with the girls with the thwack sticks.

  Review February 2010: Elusive

The bar is still one of Pattaya's more impressive GoGo designs. The mix of neon, chrome, spiral staircase, balcony, table dancing stages and centre stage looks the Biz.

On my last visit there were plenty of girls and there were several that were well attractive.

There's a reasonably priced draft beer and the rest of the prices are typical of many competing bars.

There's an affable host who seems to be a centre of attention.

And yet with all these good thing in place, the bar is pretty near a 100% guaranteed failure for me to attract the attention of a drinking partner. And looking around the bar I am not the only abject failure in town. The bar rarely seems busy in terms of customer count and a fair few fellow customers are usually sharing my Mr Lonely posture.

Probably just me, but maybe the girls need a nudge to become a little bit more pro-active about taking care of customers.

  Review June 2009: Ratios

I still drop by for the occasional look see but never stay long because the dancing ratio doesn't really give the customers a fair chance for much time with the girls. Whenever I have dropped by there are many more girls dancing than hostessing such that the girls were only hanging around for 3 dances before starting on another 6 dance stint.

Just a personal taste thing, and I did see a large party who were clearly enjoying themselves. The trick being to be able to have a good banter with your mates whilst the girls are away for the majority of their time. Then you can spoil the girls rotten for the short time that they are at your side.

There's an affable host on hand for a chat should you not bring your mates with you.

Most things are spot on about the bar. It looks good, there are some good looking girls and they take off plenty of clothes when dancing. Drinks are reasonable with a plenty of happy hour options too.

  Review December 2008: Close Competition

A good looking bar that has not quite made it on to my list of favourite bars.

There are a fair amount of girls employed and there are some who are pretty indeed. Plenty on show in terms of dress code too.

The happy hour offer is a very good deal at 2 for 1, and draft beer later is a reasonable 65 Baht.

The upstairs loos have been mentioned in the past in terms of caution of the spiral stairs when drunk. The stairs are wide enough that this isn't really an issue.

The only real reason why I haven't become a regular is that on most visits, I have been simply been ignored by the girls. Not a big issue, but Misty's is located tantalisingly close to Baby Dolls where good hostessing is assured. So impatience usually  gets the better of me, perhaps a little bit before it should.

  Review June 2008: Spoilt

A generally pleasant subsequent visit was spoilt by an offer of a lady drink (110 Baht) which ended up as a lady cocktail (150 Baht) without anyone asking or pointing out the uninvited upgrade.

It is a waste of time informing the mamasang as she simply blamed the girl and did nothing to put the matter right. The advice is to take it up with the farang management.

The bar has measures in place to try and prevent this happening, but the very existence of the dual price temptation means that this problem will inevitably recur.

  Review May 2008: Looks Good

Popped in for an early look see and the new bar surely looks good.

The outside neon is surely the most impressive in Pattaya.

There is a central stage with half a dozen girls fully covered in a white lacy affair.

There are another half dozen girls on table dancing stages arranged just in front of the comfortable bench seating. The girls were topless but strangely with a blouse at half mast. Perhaps at the ready for a quick panic.

There is an upper floor with accessed by a scary looking spiral staircase. The girls dance nude up top and are viewable from downstairs.

There were plenty of girls in attendance and an old friend looked after me well.

The drinks prices are comparable with other popular bars but the draft beer wasn't in a particularly large glass for the price.

The music is aimed at the dancing girls rather than oldie farangs. Perhaps a bit loud, but not quite the loudest.

I found a couple of teething problems in terms of the arrangement of the dancing girls. Sitting downstairs, the upstairs girls are simply too far above to be particularly worth a cricked neck for. The lighting, although effective, makes it difficult to watch the table dancers, its either too dark, or else one gets a bit dazzled. And the girls on the central stage are simply overdressed. Perhaps the trick is to sit upstairs...but I don't know if I would trust myself to get drunk upstairs, what with having to negotiate the stairs on the way down.

  Review September 2010: Dance Too Long

The bar is basically a sound, mostly daytime, gogo with several endearing features.

The bar typically has about 10 dancers. They dance in the full range from bikini to very little. About an average line up, but there's usually a couple of girls who stand out.

The music is strictly rock. And the drinks are reasonably priced.

As with several other bars, one of its fundamental flaws is that too many of the girls are set dancing. A daytime hangout should be about spending time with the customers, with just enough dancing to ensure a pleasant distraction for a few minutes whilst finding a drinking partner.

But even when there are no customers in the bar, then it is typical that 5 out of the 10 girls will be set dancing. That immediately means that customers have to spend half there time watching the insipid dancing. Usually therefore, "I Go Dance" results in a quick "check bin", and a short stroll to Hot and Cold.

  Review from Malcolm, May 2010: Pleasant Hour

Called in about 1-30pm. 3 girls were dancing, 1 naked, 1 topless and 1 in bikini. I ordered a draught beer (55B) and was left in peace. The naked girl dancing was a cutie with nice C cup assets. I gave her a wave as she finished dancing and she came over and sat with me.

Although only a 3 song dance sequence there were only 7 girls so it was 3 on, 4 off. Spent a pleasant hour with her, in between dancing. With lady drinks (100B) and a tip she seemed quite happy.

  Review February 2010: Desert Oasis

This bar is another on my circuit where my favourite thing on offer is the aircon. There are actually not really many bars around South Pattaya that provide a bit of cool air during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Several years ago it was quite a lively daytime haunt but it has scaled down somewhat. Most of the time there aren't really enough girls to go round, and the chances are that customers are in for a lonely drink.

That's not to say that there isn't fun to be had. There are some friendly and attractive girls there, just not enough.

Anyway drinks are cheap, the bar is well run in terms no hassle and usually about half of the 3 to 6 girls on stage dance in very little.

If they could just up the momentum a bit it could easily be an afternoon highlight rather than just a decent place for  brief respite in the cool.

  Review June 2009: Nevada not Nirvana

There were about 12 girl in the bar of which 6 were dancing. Of the 6, usually half are naked and the others prefer bikinis. They dance to rock music which sometimes features long tracks, so the dancing stint can often be overly long. There are usually a few good looking girls, but there also the inevitable off-Walking Street heavies.

The girls now seem to prefer their own company rather than circulate seeking the company of customers. Maybe it is better in the afternoon, but my recent early evening visits have been lonely affairs.

The drinks prices are reasonable at 50 Baht or a draft Chang and 60 Baht for a draft Heineken. Served in a good sized glass too.

  Review Dec 2008: Refreshment Break

This has become a bar that I visit regularly but rarely stay long. It is conveniently located near Beach Road and Royal Garden Mall. It is a good place for a refreshment break when strolling around the area.

The bar has scaled back its girls and somehow there are never enough to spend much time entertaining customers. They tend to do a long dance stint even when there are next to no customers in the bar.

On the positive side there are usually a few attractive girls in attendance and about half the girls dance nude.

The drinks are cheap with a long running 50 Baht draft Chang and draft Heineken is 60 Baht.

The bar seems to be best in the afternoon when there are more girls and more customers.

  Review, May 2008: Undanceable Rock

The bar seems to have picked up a little since the last report. Nothing has really changed about the bar but having a few more ladies means it works so much better.

The bar is primarily an afternoon bar catering to expats. The music is strictly rock focusing on the 70s. Some of it is totally undanceable for the girls.

Most, but not all, of the girls dance naked but the girl nearest the door puts her wrap back on presumably in anticipation of a police visit.

The girls tend to do a fair stint at Nevada so presumably they are well looked after by the bar. They know how to look after the customers but are not really quite so hands-on as Hot & Cold at the other end of the soi.

An easy place to stay for a couple of beers but I have rarely stayed for a long haul.

  Review May 2010: Steady

The bar still seems to be one of the most successful off Walking Street.

I think the success is down to attracting several types of customers. The bar has an energetic atmosphere, with plenty going, on for those that come to watch or chat with mates in an interesting environment. There are also a few girls around to entertain those who prefer to interact rather than watch. So the bar seems lucky enough to be able to entertain a large amount of customers with relatively few girls.

The bar usually has about 25 to 30 girls with half on dance shift at any one time. Most dance on the central stage but there are dance tables for another 5 or 6. They make an average team, but that isn't bad, especially off Walking Street.

There is the usual range of bikini clad and topless, but there is also a semi striptease option for some girls to dance naked just for the last song of their stint.

The drinks prices are reasonable and the basic lady drink seems back on the menu at 95 Baht. Previously this option was generally ignored and lady cocktails would always appear at 125 Baht.

  Review September 2009: Location, Location, Location

The bar has carved a niche for itself and has been consistently busy during the summer low season.

I'm a bit of loss as to why it is so successful except that I find myself dropping by quite often. Usually just down to its good location at a break point on several different walking routes around town.

In a way it is the crowdedness that I don't like, I don't go to bars to watch other people enjoying themselves. And in this bar there are not enough girls to go around for the number of customers. It must be great for the owners as they have built up sizeable audience of people who like to drink and watch rather than participate. It must be good for profit margins.

But for me it is pleasant place to enjoy 1 beer's worth of aircon before continuing my journey elsewhere.

  Review March 2009: The Little Things

The bar is very well located offering an aircon oasis when strolling around Sois Buakhao, LK Metro, Diana and, Leng Kee and Chayphun.

It is quite an attractive bar with a central stage for a dozen dancers and 3 other table dancing stages.

The girls are split into two dancing teams each taking aturn on stage for about 5 songs. The girls dance in bikinis or topless with a few taking off their knickers for the final song of their set. There are usually a few pretty girls amongst the dancers.

It is a bar that targets Pattaya regulars and at first glance all seems well organised. But somehow I seem to get irritated by minor grievances on every visit. There are two levels of lady drink and the most expensive usually appears without asking. The prettier girls seem to like to hunt for the lady drinks just a few minutes before it is their turn to dance. And girls at your side are likely to be whisked away by the mamasang to other presumably more profit making customers. Small change is often assumed to be a tip.

But saying that it seems to be a very popular bar, often being full or there abouts.

Another first time visitation for me. I have heard good reports of this place, but either my own taste in girls is extremely restrictive, or we just picked a bad night, for with one or two exceptions it resembled a bit of an elephant’s graveyard of a Go-Go, plenty of dancers in the bar, but not to my ‘spec’, it resembled a home to the girls that were perhaps a little bit worn at the edges to put it nicely, but each to their own, and things can change on a daily basis, if not an hourly basis in the bars of Sin City.

  Review May 2008: Settling Down

The mamasang has worked in many Walking Street bars and has previously run a pretty tight regime of ensuring that customers are matched to girls.

Oasis though has settled down into a very hassle free gogo where you are likely to drink alone unless you make an effort to call over a girl.

I asked the mamasang about this, and she said that they have decided that is what the Soi Buakhao customers prefer.

So the bar offers minimal hassle, cheap beer and farang rock music at a reasonable volume. Sounds like your local pub back in farangland. But of course there are topless dancing girls and short time rooms if you feel the urge. So the best of both worlds.

But perhaps a little too restrained though for my tastes.

  Review May 2010: The Most Likely Sin is Envy

Club Sin City have recently tried a little revamp with a new sign proclaiming Show Girls at Club Sin City.

The bar has introduced a cheaper draft option of Chang at 50 Baht (in addition to the usual Tiger at 65 Baht). They have also reduced the ludicrous lady drink price from 135 Baht to the generally acceptable 120 Baht.

None of this seems to have got the customers thronging in though, and I was the only visitor at a bit after 10pm.

The girls on stage made a bit of an effort and stripped down to...well nothing actually. There were 6 presentable girls dancing at the time, half the girls available in the bar.

Thai bars don't function very well when there are few customers, and the rather glum atmosphere amongst the girls on hostessing duty was rather off putting. In fact most of the hostessing girls were allowed to hide in the dressing room. I thought there were only 6 girls in the bar, all dancing.

Of course there is one final thing the bar could do to try and get a few customers in. They could turn the effing music down. It's way too loud.

  Review July 2009: Loud

The bar has been open a few weeks so maybe time for a follow up review.

I was first impressed by the amount of dancers in attendance. They still have about 10 girls dancing on the central stage and a couple of more in a Jacuzzi. There were another dozen awaiting their turn to dance. There were a few pretty girls amongst the dancers.

The Jacuzzi doesn't seem to add much. There are no stools for those that like to assist the girls with their ablutions nor is it in a good place to provide many customers with a show.

I was first unimpressed by the volume of the music. More disco levels than gogo.

I was next unimpressed by the price increase in draft beer, from 65 Baht to 95 Baht. It is served in good sized measures though.

There were some friendly girls doing the rounds but a combination of the loud music and expensive draft meant that I turned down the girls' advances and decided that the bar had become a one beer venue.

There were very few customers but there were two farang couples enjoying a dance. It struck me strange that the bar was being enjoyed more for its loud music than for its gogo aspects.

  Review June 2009: Hassled

I can't say I enjoyed my first visit much, I seemed to get hassled by some of the oldest gripes in the book.

But first the basics. The bar is more or less the same layout as last seen for Black & White. There's a large central stage, a cage stage, like Peppermint, which was unused as was the swimming tank. The inevitable Jacuzzi was in operation with a couple of girls soaping themselves down.

There were a decent amount of girls in attendance with quite a busy stage show of 8 dancers. The girls were dancing for 8 songs which is way too long for those waiting for girls who 'go dance'.

The girls were average which means that there were several that would surely be escorting customers home. Not a bad team for the 2nd night of a gogo. The gogo dancers were a bit shy though, only one took off her top to dance.

There is a draft beer at 65 Baht.

Perhaps the staff were a bit over keen, being near the opening but I found my self getting a bit hassled. There were 2 mamasangs working the floor and they were friendly enough to introduce themselves. One clicked her fingers and 2 girls appeared at my side. I always consider it bad manners to be doubled teamed, I take it as a set up for hassle. Anyway I sent one girl away and spoke a few words to the other. The girl, a server, and one of the mamasangs were unduly quick to push for a lady drink. And no wonder they were so quick, at the next song, it was the girls turn to dance (for 8 songs!).

Perhaps I was just unlucky with timing.

  Review June 2010: Not Quite Cosy Yet

The bar hasn't really set Walking Street alight but it's still going.

On my last visit there were quite a few girls for a small gogo with 7 or 8 dancing on the side stage at a time. Topless is the usual or else more if the girl so desires. Perhaps a little below Walking Street average, but this still means there are a few attractive girls.

For a long time the bar was playing the dance music ridiculously loud, but maybe they have now stepped it down, to be merely 'too loud'.

The bar seems to have potential for a bit of hands on hostessing. But somehow it turns out that the older and wiser girls are more keen on this than the girls you might prefer.

Perhaps a hands on Jacuzzi would be a good focus for this particular brand of entertainment. At the moment, the bar is a bit lacking in options.

There is a cheap beer option with bottled Chang at 55 Baht.

  Review November 2009: Another Noisy Bar

The bar was doing a good trade on its first day. It is intuitively a good location, and I suspect that it is quite advantageous to have a door opening directly on to Walking Street.

The bar is on the small side with a side stage for about 8 dancers.

There is a little bench seating opposite the stage, but most of the bar is given over to rather wobbly uncomfortable stools. There were a few more substantial stools at the back though. The bar has crammed in too many stools and it felt overly full even though most stools weren't taken.

I instantly dismissed the music as too dance oriented and too loud. The clear success of the noisy Air Port Club seems to be tempting all the new bars to follow the lead with heavy tunes and disco level noise.

I spotted one of my pretty friends on the dance floor but I wasn't tempted to wait as she was about 6 long dance songs off finishing. There were 7 girls dancing with just a couple taking their top off. There weren't really enough girls for the amount of customers, but this aspect soon changes if the bar is seen to be a success by the girls who will then sign up.

The beer was cheap with bottled Chang at 55 Baht.

But really on this visit, it was too crowded and too noisy to stay in bar with only standard gogo shuffling to watch.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, March 2010: A Little Bit Happy

Diamond has never done much for me so maybe the review would be best left to someone who appreciates the bar. But for some reason Diamond rarely crops up in conversation except to say how expensive it is to barfine Bangkok showgirls.

I always think of Diamond as small version of Happy A-GoGo. It generally has a good selection of girls, the drinks are reasonably priced, and most of the customers are here to watch pretty girls rather than do much in the way of interaction. That's not to say the girls are unfriendly, they seem approachable enough. But they do not pro-actively seek out customers.

Only my last visit there was a team of about 8 dancers who were a bit coy with their dress sense. After a while they gave way to another team, presumably the showgirls, who weren't so coy. But it was hardly a riveting performance.

The music is on the loud side but maybe not quite so extreme as days of old.

  Review from Pattaya Secrets, March 2009: No Barfine Bangkok Girls

I could not believe the level of talent on stage.

It turns out they have more Bangkok girls down for 10 days. I was told they get paid 1200 baht per night and is only here for 10 nights. She gets 50 baht per lady drink but has to achieve at least 10 per night or her money is cut by 50 baht for each.

Barfine for the Bangkok visiting girls is set at a suitably discouraging 3500 with the likelihood of a fee for the girl to match.

It also seems that the girls aren't from the farang P4P scene. Some wont go with customers, some will, some are basically party girls, some may well be used to being in high class Thai places where they charge 3000k ST.

  Review March 2009: Revival

Suddenly Diamond was back to where it was a few years ago.

The bar was three quarters full, there were show girls on stage that were capturing the attention of the audience and the music was too loud.

Good to see that the import of a team of dancers from Bangkok seems to have sparked a revival.

I'm not sure if it is like this everyday but I think I may have stumbled in during a dance contest.

Things look hopeful for the bar as there were plenty of attractive girls around and the beer was still the same cheap price as before.

It made a good change to leave after one drink on the grounds that the bar was too full. I usually leave after one drink because the bar was too empty.

  Review Nov 2008: Little Sparkle

Diamond is not really getting the customers in at the moment. I stopped by at 10pm and I was one of two.

Perhaps one of the reasons is a lack of enthusiasm by the welcome staff. They seem to ignore passers by but will of course respond if you step towards the door. The door itself is not really inviting, its like stepping into a vault.

Inside there were 3 bikini clad girls dancing on the central stage and there were another 4 or 5 sitting around waiting for their turn. An average bunch but that still means there are some attractive girls.

There wasn't much doing in the bar but a couple of the waiting girls popped over to see if I was interested. But as I never really appreciate being double teamed I fended them off.

I thought about these double teaming tactics for a while and came to a conclusion. There probably not many regulars of the bar, so the chances are that any customers are newbies and therefore can be easily persuaded to buy multiple lady drinks.

Probably just being cynical though, there were no other signs of hassle. But then again, I didn't hang round very long.

  Review Jan 2008: Reasonable

Diamond is a very straightforward gogo which is pretty conservative in terms of entertainment.

It seems to have a good customer base probably from reputations from maybe slightly better times of old. It seems to cater for guys on holiday rather than expats.

It seems to give a good package of reasonably priced drinks, a reasonable show and a reasonable bunch of girls who tend to keep themselves to themselves.

I guess it does the business in terms of entertainment and so keeps customers returning for occasional visits. It misses out on regulars as they simply get to know the bars where the entertainment is a little more sexy.

Or perhaps just where the music is not played quite so loud!

  Review April 2007: Foreboding Entrance

The doorway is a little foreboding, looking more like a bank vault than a gogo. The welcome staff weren't really on their toes either, giving an air of being picky about who they let in.

Well they were kind enough to open the vault so I wandered in.

The bar was quite popular with a mildly erotic lesbian show capturing the attention of the rapt customers.

The music was loud but not quite the ear splitting levels I was expecting. The customers were also 'having fun' with ping pong balls, entertaining the tequila girl. There were also a couple of guys taking delight in being swamped by lady drink chasers.

Looking around at the bar it seemed that most of the customers were there to watch rather than partake. There were few girls enquiring where customers originate from and there were no girls sitting with customers idly chatting about thisthatandtheother and short time rates.

But what does it matter when there is a bar full of customers who are enjoying themselves. As I prefer to enjoy the girls rather than myself I moved swiftly on.

  Review June 2010: A High Season Bar

I find that first impressions about the bar always seem a lot better than what you actually get.

The bar has a fair few ladies packed onto the revolving stage. They always seem to be dancing with more energy than in most bars in Pattaya and there are usually a few good lookers too.

There are also a couple of girls dancing on small tables and a couple of Jacuzzi girls at the back of the bar.

It all seems quite lively, but as one settles into a beer, one realises that it's not the most interactive bar in town. The girls waiting to dance seem happiest chatting amongst themselves rather than chatting to customers.

Also a bit of downer are the generally high drinks prices, although the bar now relents for a cheap low season draft beer. Lady drinks are poor value at 135 Baht and barfines are very high.

The bar usually seems to be a bit quiet in terms of customers, but the liveliness gives the impression that maybe the crowds will turn up soon. Probably better as a high season bar when people are a little less cost conscious.

  Review October 2009: Little Interaction

The bar has improved for installing a cheap draft beer at 55 Baht but otherwise it seems to operate pretty much as normal.

The were quite a few girls rotating around the central carousel stage. There were some good looking girls and there was a complete range of dress from none to bikini. There were also a couple of girls ineffectively dancing on small stages in amongst the audience.

There was very little interaction between the girls and the customers. I have a theory that may be total bollox, but I reckon that response to the ping pong balls is used to differentiate between ex-pats and visitors. Only ping pong friendly customers are likely to get company.

Still there are plenty of bars that are prefer to be show/watching bars rather than being interactive, and this is a decent enough example to watch a bit of gogo dancing.

  Review from Pattaya Talk, April 2009: Improved

The bar introduced a cheap draft and at least one forum poster reported a good improvement in the bar:

The most improved gogo of my recent trip, after a couple of years in the doldrums, they seem back to their best with a high number of lookers, many of whom are interactive in the bar (with excessive pressure for ladydrinks).

  Review December 2008: Visitors Bar

The bar was very quiet at what should have been a prime time. I presume this rather reflects the lack of holiday makers in town. It has always struck me that this bar is not really a hit with Pattaya residents and appeals more to visitors.

The bar had about 15 dancers in attendance and a few showgirls hiding away in their changing room. 5 or 6 girls were dancing either in bikinis or topless on the revolving central stage.. The girls were generally average which of course means there are a few that appeal.

The girls seemed a little lack lustre in terms of hostess duties, and a couple of newbies behind me were getting a bit of a hard sell about ping pong balls.

There were a couple of shows that were not particularly sexy. One was traditional Thai dancing, and in the other, the girls only got down to their knickers.

I'd rather guess that not many expats use the bar as the drinks prices are on the high end whilst the entertainment is on the low end. Nothing inherently bad about the bar, just poor value.

  Review March 2008: Ping Pong Heaven

At a prime time visit, the bar was very lively. Plenty of whooping and holloring as the guys were lining up to throw ping pong balls and cash at the girls.

It was clear that most of the high spirits were down to holiday fun and the novelty value of a gogo.

From an expat point of view I don't really see why it should be so popular. The girls were distinctly average (that's not to say that there aren't pretty girls, the Walking Street average is pretty good). The drinks prices are on the high side too.

My only theory as to why the bar attracts holiday makers is simply down to the rather good name, particularly as Thee Dollhouse is a well known chain of lap dancing bars in USA.

The girls were not being friendly to me though. They probably spotted the micro gesture of disdain towards the frequent attempts to sell me ping pong balls.

Still you can't knock a bar where everyone is laughing and having fun...you just have to quietly go somewhere else.

  Review from Malcolm, May 2010: Ladyboy Guard Duty

Went in Club Nevada for a hour most afternoons and asked the girl that always joined me about Far East Rock, always a couple of ladyboys on guard duty at the door. She told me for some reason best known to the owner, ladyboys on door and nice (real) girls inside.

Went in and yes she was right. Those ladyboys must frighten more customers off than they pull in. 2 beers for me and 2 ladydrinks B460

  Review August 2009: Still Underwhelming

I stopped by for a beer at the early hour of 7:45pm and the bar had the feeling of it being closing time already.

There were about 8 girls in the bar when I arrived but by the time I had finished my beer the bar was down to 2 or 3. 8pm is the end of shift for half or more of the girls.

I didn't stay for a 2nd beer to find out how the bar works out between 8pm and closing time at 10pm.

When I entered there were 4 girls dancing mostly bikini clad. Not a crew that stands out but a couple of the girls would surely be getting a few bar fines.

The service girl was friendly enough but the dancing girls were winding down so it is a bit unfair to comment on their interaction with the customers.

Probably better to give the bar a try in the afternoon.

  Review Jan 2009: Underwhelming

I have been somewhat underwhelmed when I have recently stopped by this bar. It hasn't really changed very much over the last few years, its just that a little less good than it used to be.

There are slightly less girls, they are slightly older on average and the decor is now slightly faded.

On the positive side the beer prices have been the same for ages and the bar continues with the oldie farang friendly rock music.

There are usually a few customers in the bar who are enjoying playing with the girls, so not a bad place. Never any undue hassle either.

Presumably the relatively early closing is something to do with running one shift of staff rather than two.

  Review May 2008: Foundering

The bar seems to be struggling a bit at the moment. I have been left to drink alone on my last couple of visits due to a general lack of girls.

There is also a general lack of customers too. This may be down to the girls being a bit overdressed in bikinis. Or perhaps it is down to lady boy welcome staff putting a few people off.

Still, there is nothing particularly bad about the bar. The beer is cheap and the music is farang friendly. And the girls seem friendly enough too.

As always it could be just bad luck but I think it is simply edged out by the better local competition from Nevada and Hot & Cold

  News, Jan 2008: Far East Rocked

Far East Rock has made the UK news as it is listed as one of the assets of Angela Miller. She has been prosecuted for running brothels in the UK where Thai girls were working in semi slavery to repay ridiculous trumped up debts incurred to get a chance of working in the UK.

She was sentenced to 4 years and will serve more if she opposes the confiscation of her assets.

She had been extradited back to the UK after being on the run for 6 years in Thailand.

  Review, Sep 2007: Fourth Choice

Far East Rock seems to be the least popular of the afternoon gogos in the area. It is outdone by Cub Nevada for prettier and nude dancers. It is outdone by Hot & Cold for up close and personal attention. It is outdone by TQ1 for those that want to have a banter with their mates.

There's probably no good reason why it shouldn't compete with the others but momentum seems to have made this the least popular. Prices are generally competitive and the music is attractive to the afternoon expats.

The kateoys on the welcome staff at the door are probably a big negative for many potential customers. It seems strange to use kateoys when it does not seem to be a big thing within the bar.

The poor ranking generally reflects in a lower standard of girls but there are usually a few that one would be happy to share a drink with.

Never seems too bad, but I generally soon get tempted to move on to one of the nearby competitors.

Due to the quiet low season First A-GoGo has closed for the summer. The owner reports that it will re-open on 25th September 2010.

  Review February 2010:  Change of Management

The bar has just had a change of management so time to have a look if anything had changed.

I didn't spot any physical changes to the bar. It still suffers a little from a rather high stage that is located a bit too far from the comfy seats.

On the plus side, the bar had a fair amount of good looking dancers. There were perhaps 15 girls in all of which 6 were dancing. They wore bikinis or less depending on their preferences. Most would don pleated skirts as they ended their dancing stint.

To me the long term failing of the bar is that the girls never seem very interested in interacting with the customers. Taking a quick look round the bar, I think there has probably been a bit of an improvement on that front, as a couple of guys were enjoying a chat.

The much travelled Thai bar manager Kuhn Saatit was on duty but somehow his presence rarely correlates with the sort of bar I like to drink in.

The bar didn't click for me on this visit, but I think there is an improved chance of this happening on a subsequent visit.

Large and airy, a central dance podium, two separate dance stages around the sides, two dozen or so dancers with a generally good standard. Large screen TVs around the walls showing sports for those who are no longer interested in watching the dancers. And the girls were actually dancing.

There were a couple of shows, but I guess because the girls appeared to be new these weren’t as slick as some of the others you can see around town.

The bar has recruited a few more girls and they now have half a dozen that are well attractive. Unfortunately they don't seem to be very interested in circulating amongst the earlybird 9pm customers so I wasn't tempted to stay long. The dancing at the early hour was strictly bikini clad.

  Review Jan 2009: First But Will it Last

The new GoGo is located on the north side of central Soi 8. It was previously the location of Zoo A-GoGo. I have heard that there was a previous incarnation of First A-GoGo on the same site many years ago.

The gogo is large with a central stage plus an unused side stage and a Jacuzzi.

There is an area with sofa seating and the rest of the bar is stools. The gogo generally looks good.

It is always difficult for bars to recruit girls for the opening and this bar had just 6 dancers. Less than average too. They were all bikini clad. I was told that the Jacuzzi girls were a little more revealing but they hadn't started yet.

The Pattaya Ghost informs me that all 3 of the Jacuzzi girls were eminently 'doable'.

The drinks prices are way too much for this early days entertainment with no draft beer and bottles at 100-110. Spirits were on the menu as 130 Baht.

The service girl taking my order was a good English speaker and she was happy to chat to make up for the lack of available dancers.

But really the bar is currently poor value with expensive drinks, few ladies, and dancers with too many clothes.

The bar seemed basically friendly and free of hassle. I will certainly drop by again to see how they fare.

Next thing a different girl came along & plonked a small sign on the coffee table in front of me which read something like minimum tip 50 baht & in brackets something like this is only $2 US.

It was reported on Stickman that Galaxy had closed. This seems not to be the case. (The door was open and people were entering but I wasn't going to look any further lest I get hammered with a mandatory tip). Girls are now back dancing in the street booth too.

  News from Pattaya Daily News June 2007: Police Raid

Pattaya police arrested five naked Russian dancers at Galaxy Cabaret on walking street.

Outside, there were clothed foreign dancers performing behind a glass window. However, inside, Russian strippers were entertaining the audience.

Foreign undercover 'volunteers', with female police, posed as customers to investigate; and found five Russian strippers, clad only in bikinis, dancing to the delight of the audience. The police immediately arrested the half naked performers.

They all had permits to work as dancers, but they were, nevertheless arrested, as it is a crime to perform unclothed.

We sat down and ordered our 200/250 baht beer.

One of the the girls said hello, seemed pleasant but we avoided to much chatting as we did not wish to lead on as we were only having a look inside.

We were greeted by the doorman and asked if there was a cover charge. “No” was the reply – so in we went ‘for the experience’. There were a few good lookers swinging off their poles in their birthday suits – totally uninhibited. We were beset upon immediately by a couple of reasonably attractive Romanian girls who forgot to put all their clothes on, so we thought we would do the right thing and invite them to sit with us and have a drink.

Not long after we had taken a seat on the sofa, a third totally naked bird took the opportunity to slither across my lap (totally unexpected and uninvited) - knocking my beer over. Not only did she reduce my stubby to a half full state without me enjoying too much of it but she rudely interrupted the conversation I had just started with the bird I had bought a drink for.

She removed her body from my lap and stood with her hand out – she had the audacity of seeking a tip – and I stress I neither invited or wanted her. My mate joked she was looking for payment for services rendered. What services? I politely gestured for her to POQ but she wasn’t leaving in a hurry. My mate told her a little (not much) more strongly that we were happy with the two girls we were talking with and didn’t need her. She threw her head back and charged away. She returned 30 seconds later – smashed a plastic sign down on the table in front of me “It is Galaxy policy that 100 baht tip must be given ...” 100 baht for what! That was enough for me – I was out of there.

Get a load of this... Tab – 2 lady drinks @ 300 baht + 2 small Heineken @ 220 baht = 1,040 baht for a small amount of entertainment.

  Review, June 2010: Dressing Up Not Down

As I entered the bar there was a team of a dozen good looking dancing girls in quite a range of dancing attire but mainly featuring dresses rather than gogo bikinis or coyote top and shorts.

I settled into my beer eagerly awaiting the couple of songs before the girls surely start shedding their attire. Only they didn't. They stayed well over dressed for the entire dance stint.

I was just about to demand the money back for my beer (as if) when the other half of the girls took to the stage. This time the girls had remembered that adult entertainment is what Pattaya bars are about. Within a few songs, most had lost at least some of the their clothing.

Maybe just a chip on the shoulder, but I tend to give a wide berth to girls that don't want to play the bikini/nude game. It is often a sign that the girls really would rather not be playing the Pattaya game at all.

But nevertheless Gentleman's Club is a very good bar to see pretty girls.

I don't find it much of a bar for interaction though. Probably for the same reasons that the girls don't like to take off their gear.

  Review, Nov 2009: Jacuzzi

The bar has recently re-opened the upstairs floor complete with the almost inevitable Jacuzzi.

It has always been tricky to run a bar over 2 floors. Few people tend to go upstairs. I guess psychologically one will never venture up a strange set of stairs unless invited. I think it needs very clear signage to indicate what is upstairs and that it is currently open.

There were no clear messages from Gentlemen's Club staff or signs that there was entertainment upstairs. As far as I can gather it has limited opening hours too. I think that it opens at 10pm.

Anyway upstairs I was a little under whelmed. The Jacuzzi is one of those that is more of a dancing stage than anything. There are no ringside seats. But of course the bench seats are close enough for a good view of a show, but a show with no audience participation. There are also a couple of dancing podiums too.

There were 4 or 5 girls upstairs, and as you would expect for the bar, they were well attractive. But unfortunately they were all engaged by a party of customers at the other side of the bar.

It is always tough to make a small operation work in a GoGo, as there will often be too few girls for the customers, and equally often, too few customers for the girls.

On this occasion I had a lonely beer watching other people have fun. Not really my thing. But equally well, it could be the other way round next time.

  Review from Materialsman, Oct 2009: High rating in beauty

This is not a new club per se, but this was to be my first visit there. First impression upon entering was that it was much smaller than I had imagined, and by the impression given by the website, but what it lost in size it more than made up with the quality of the dancing girls on the night.

There were probably only ten girls onstage and as many again scattered around sat with customers, but of very high rating in beauty, I would have to award this place a 9/10 based solely on the girls I saw last night, they looked stunning attired in quality, expensive red lingerie style bikinis.

There is also a VIP style room upstairs available for the princely sum of 500 Baht with No Barfine as it proudly states on the displayed notice, but I had no chance to take a look.

I had a couple or three beers here and very much added Gentlemen's Club to my Favourites list for future perambulations.

I was impressed with the looks of the girls dressed in tiny red bikinis or less. They even had a show with the usual sexy dancing ending with some rubber hose whippin'.

When I looked around I saw mostly younger guys visiting but the girls seemed to be interacting well between their dancing-shift. They sent the ugliest girl over to me (as usual!) Can never understand this practise, why bars almost always sends over the oldest and ugliest girls to new customers!?

Anyway music was too loud, some boring Techno Dance whatever they call it although the girls seems to like it, and where quite energetic up on stage!

  Review Feb 2009: Service Without a Smile

The bar seems to be quite popular when I stopped by mid week.

The bar had about a dozen girls split into shifts with about half a dozen on stage. They are still following the pattern of taking off clothes as they work through the short dance roster.

The girls are attractive which obviously goes someway towards  explaining the popularity. I think the short striptease dance pattern is a good idea too.

Unfortunately there weren't really enough girls in the bar to take personal care of all the customers. The lucky few seemed to be having a good time though.

As I felt somewhat neglected on this occasion, I decided to move rapidly on and maybe try again another time. As my tipping tends to reflect how much I enjoyed my stay, I chose not to leave one, 85 Baht is already enough for a draft beer. I got such a sneer from the service girl. Totally unpleasant.

The bosses continue to keep the upstairs stages closed unless absolutely pressed for space.

The bosses have also made a few change, dropping the sexy gowns for most girls and putting then in go-go style skirts and bikinis. They’ve also introduced a number of sexy shows.

  Review June 2008: Lonely

The bar seems to have settled down into a rather low key affair. There are plenty of good looking dancers and they keep the stage entertainment brief and to the point with a three song set usually removing excess clothing at each song. Sexy indeed.

The bar seems to have gone awry in terms of hooking the girls up with the customers though.

I concur with a fair few Pattaya forum members that customers are generally left to drink a lonesome beer without any interest from the girls to say hello. There is a theory going around that the girls are picky and just waiting on good looking young guys. But they may have to wait a fair time in Pattaya.

There is a bar gimmick about waiving a 20 baht dollar bill around to get a girls attention, but I have yet to see this work.

In the meantime the connections of the bar will be wondering why the customers aren't showing as much interest in drinking in the bar as they would like. Nothing a bit more of bullying mamasang couldn't sort out.

  Review April 2010: Happy as a Coyote

As you'd expect with an ever popular bar, they mostly stick with their formula and changes are rare.

So indeed there was the usual stage full of pretty girls doing a reasonable stab at energetic dancing. And as usual, they were not really making much effort to play the audience. There's no need for the girls to be pro-active at Happy, the guys soon do the requesting.

But there was one recent change though, coyote dancers had joined the bikini clad and topless gogo girls. The coyotes were wearing big bras and the usual short denim shorts with the fly half undone.

It will be interesting to see if the idea works at Happy. For me, coyote dancing is nothing but negative, and most bars offering coyote dancing as the main spectator sports seem to founder.  There seems to be a fundamental correlation between girls who would rather not take off their clothes to girls who are choosy, offish or pricey when it comes to customer care. Best avoided in my book.

Otherwise things still seemed good in Happy. Customers were still calling down pretty ladies and the watchers seemed happy enough to bide their time whilst sipping alone. Perhaps the bar was a little less crowded than on previous visits but probably just the low season norm.

I'd make a lousy bar owner. If I fashioned a bar according to my own likes and dislikes, I'd end up losing out on some of the most popular bars in Pattaya, and Happy is one of them.

I often pop by Happy early evening for one drink whilst planning an itinerary for the rest of the evening. It is perfect for a quick drink, as it has very good looking dancers, reasonable drinks prices and no hassle from the girls (not that hassle is a bad thing mind you, I do particularly like being hassled by a girl jumping on to my lap).

There are plenty of girls on stage and they have a very long dance roster, but that's ok, not many of them have drinking partners waiting for their return.

The girls on the main stage dance topless and it must be said that the basic gogo dancing is some of the more energetic in town.

All well and good, and maybe too good. Later on the crowds come to enjoy the entertainment. At this time the bar is everything that I don't want from a bar. More than likely you will get ushered to one of the last remaining seats in the bar, usually a stage side stool jammed between 2 other occupied stools.

Now then its a question of priorities, do you want to watch some of the prettiest girls in town? or do you want to have a comfortable seat and the space for a girl at your side? (even if getting a girl is as yet, just a hope). Call me strange but I prefer the comfortable seat and a bit of room to breathe. But at least I can see the point of view of those jammed into the small stage-side stools enjoying the pretty dancers.

  Review Sept 2008: Still Happy

Nothing much had changed since my last visit. In fact nothing had changed since my last visit. The bar is simply supremely consistent.

Still pretty girls on the popular main stage and naked girls around on the side stage which isn't so popular.

Most guys seem to come to look rather than interact with the girls much.

The shows are simple with just a little added enthusiasm to the dancing and a few less clothes.

The beer is reasonably priced but it is not given away as the glasses are small.

On the whole I find the lack of interaction makes the bar pretty sterile but that is personal taste rather than a criticism of the bar. Many would say how pleasant it is to be able to sit ad watch without being hassled.

My wife and I went here around 9pm. Considering the early hour, the place was very busy.

Luckily enough, there were two spare seats next to the central stage where we were seated.

Central stage was occupied by eight naked girls enthusiastically dancing. After every number they rotated to the next pole until they’d done a complete circuit of the poles. Not much interaction with the customers though but we still enjoyed the dancing.

After this, the naked girls were replaced with shuffling bikini girls (a few topless) and we realised that we had just witnessed a kind of show by the naked girls. On a few side tables there was table dancing with skirted, but knickerless, girls who we managed to get a smile out of.

We did notice that Happy also had hostesses and there were a couple engaged with Japanese gents.

Probably one of the better places that we visited but again, it was just a one drink place.

Went in and found the place as usual packed with customers as well as pretty girls. I found the quality of the girls had decreased a bit since my last visit 6 months ago. Maybe because of the time 0.30 am and most prettiest girls had been barfined.

Some of the girls are topless and in the new part of the bar there were no naked girls dancing as I remembered from a previous visit.

The place is always full of fun and I always like to come back. One of the top gogos in Patts

  Review June 2010: Specialist

Heaven Above is perhaps a little different to most Pattaya GoGos and has developed its own style.

It features a central stage full of attractive girls. They operate in two teams. There's the GoGo dancers who do a very long and slow advance round the stage. They wear their own choice of dance attire ranging from quite a lot to not much at all.

There's also a second team of negligee clad girls who occupy one end of the stage, the low brick wall around the stage, and a couple of small side stages.

The main stage is low and the bar is not large, so most seats get a good show.

The subtle difference though, is more to do with the interaction between the girls and customers. Customers who sit quietly will probably get left well alone. Even customers signaling over a girl may well get short shrift too. The trick seems to get into more of a party frame of mind. The chances are that the girls will pick up on the vibe and take it from there.

Not a bar for everyone but it has enough fans to keep it lively late at night. Can be very slow earlier in the evening.

One of my favourites is Heavens Above. Once more it didn't disappoint me, some honey's here as always, they seemed to be having some sort of Daisy Duke thing going amongst the staff, you know the look, tiny denim shorts, check shirts tied at the waist, straw hats etc. and very nice it looked too!

I know some of the show girls here have a reputation of bad attitude, but frankly I have never had a problem with any girl from here, maybe through my very persona, I dress reasonably well, I'm not a complete 'fugly', and I treat the girls in my company well. Hey, maybe I have become a member of the Heavens Above clique that some guys whisper darkly of, that's an amusing thought, I've always held on to the Groucho Marx mindset towards belonging to clubs and cliques.

  Review October 2009: Pretty in Heaven

I tend to visit the bar for a hassle free beer that makes for a pleasant backdrop whilst planning the evening.

The bar is attractive with a white theme. There is a fair sized central stage and also a play mat area towards the back of the bar.

There are always a goodly amount of girls on the stage and they are an above average crew. The dancing girls choose their own attire and how much or how little they are happy with.

There are also a few girls, maybe classed as showgirls, who wear negligees. They seem to hold dominion over the raised step around the edge of the stage.

The girls have a very long dance roster rather suggesting that the bar is for watching the girls rather than interacting with them. Well that's my excuse anyway, the girls never seem very interested in me.

Always one of my favourite Pattaya spots, and one that recently had come in for a little criticism on another Pattaya Forum.

Again the Bar was busy. I think my Heineken was again 120 baht, could have been 110, not really sure.

I did however have a brief chat with the Manager, an affable enough young Aussie chap, who was desperately trying to sell me on the idea of purchasing a special discount drink card for the minimal sum of 850 Baht, which was guaranteed to eventually save me money on my drinks. Sorry, I’m sure it is a good deal but not one I am going to go for while out having a good time and in a fairly incapacitated state, seemed a bit like a Time Share sort of deal.

As for the eye candy on view, well again recently there has been criticism of the line up, but I have to say I thought there were some stunners on show, whether or not they have pussies made of gold that pee pure Pinot Noir, and a stuck up attitude to match, I can’t really say, they certainly seemed friendly enough to my advances, and when I walked out of the club at around midnight there were fifteen very attractive hard bodied girls lined up totally buck naked on stage, and more circling the stage, what’s wrong with that scenario, I mean what more could you desire? The service staff were attentive, and some comely wenches amongst them too.

All in all, still one of the top go-go’s in Pattaya with some stunning girls, in my humble opinion.

The previously reported experience of finding a friendly girl at Hooty's is now a faded memory.

The norm at Hooty's is to find a stage full with dancers. There are usually a few that are decent enough, but not really top notch enough to attract the audience that are content just to watch dancing ladies. These well sought after customers are more likely to be found in the Happy group of bars or else the Super bars.

The fall back option option for a bar is to keep the customers entertained with a bit of girly interaction. It doesn't have to be overly hands on, just a nice chat will do.

But somehow Hooty's doesn't seem geared up for this. Either the girls aren't very pro-active in seeking out the customers, or else there simply aren't that many girls left over after packing the stage with dancers. The 8 song dance roster is way too long too.

Hooty's is a decent enough bar trying to get by on a show concept that has become a little passé. It reminds me a bit of Carousel, soon to be consumed into the Happy group.

  Review September 2009: First Time

Limey things are looking up at Hooty's. For the first time in years I found myself a dancer who was up for a friendly few drinks.

Hopefully it is a sign that the bar is giving up its pretensions as an expensive show bar and joining the group of fun bars where the name of the game is to get customers hooked up with girls, not watching them from a respectable distance.

Helping in the cause, Hooty's has established a reasonably priced draft beer and have recently installed a Jacuzzi. It is not particularly well placed, being mostly hidden behind the stage, but it at least signals an intent that the bar wants to be seen as fun.

Anyway I have to be a bit restrained in case the good night was a one off, but it will at least earn a couple of return visits in the very near future.

No dogs, no stunners, average GoGo girls... really friendly staff, but no hassle for lady drinks.. some cutie service girls, the dancers are interactive, but not pushy... many happy farangs with girl companion...

All in all a great venue if you are not too picky...There are two to die for showgirls, but they don't mix with the customers.

  Review Nov 2008: No Draft, No Dice

At about 10pm I was the only customer in the bar. There were plenty of girls in attendance with several that were well attractive.

You'd think I'd be well away. But as is often the case in a dead bar, it is actually pretty tough to attract the attention of the girls.

Because there are next to no customers in the bar, the dancing girls don't really cast their gaze around the room. And when they have finished they go into an impenetrable huddle. There's no point in circulating when there are no customers.

The mamasang spotted the unattached customer though, and send a 'B string' girl over. I am a great believer in first come, first served, so I expect that if I am the only customer in the bar, then I should be allocated an 'A string' companion.

From my viewpoint the bar fails to make my list due to the lack of draft beer. A cheap first drink option is always good as it tempts me in for a 'look see'. But being as this bar is twice the beer price of most (I see no taste advantage of bottles over draft) then I simply give it a miss, particularly as previous visits have also been pretty naff.

Hooty's has started a happy hour with bottled beer at 70 Baht and house spirits at 50 Baht. Later on there was no sign of the 70 Baht Beer on the welcome cards.

I called in Hot & Cold twice this week. not again.

1st time I ordered drink and cutie jumped on my left. I ordered her a drink and next thing I've another on my right and 1 in front of me begging for drinks. Told them I buy 1 lady a drink. The 1 in front took the hint but the 1 on my right would not give in. Time to drink up and go.

Went in again, I ordered a drink and again cutie plopped down next me. OK. I asked her if she wanted a drink (silly question) and she asked if she could have a bottle of Singha. OK she started a bit of hands on fun and next thing 4 more girls surrounded us.

So paid bill, (B125 for her Singha and B45 for my draught) left tip but she then started demanding B100 tip for herself. Left and wont be back.

  Review April 2010: Cooling

Hot & Cold can still be a fun place to drink but it rather depends on whether there are any girls to suit ones tastes available for lap duty.

Perhaps the times have been tough, but minor tweaks to bar policy have probably not done the bar any favours, and the bar often now struggles for customers.

Firstly they have upped the amount of girls dancing, which of course decreases the amount of time the girls are available for lap duties. And to be brutally honest there are too few girls in this bar that are worth watching dancing. The girls excel at hands on service, not dancing, so I think this is where the girls would be best employed.

Secondly the bar now allow girls to opt for more expensive drinks without asking the customers. Again the customer base for the bar is not really the ideal demographic for pissing them off. They tend to be expats or Pattaya regulars who know the going rates and when they are being taken advantage of. It is also a bar that specialises in providing multiple girls for a customer's attention. Being stung for several 150 Baht drinks will surely drive some away, never to return again. And continuing the brutally frank theme, most of the girls simply do not justify premium priced drinks anyway.

Anyway I don't want to be too negative as there are still good times to be had in the bar.

  Review July 2009: Mixed Reviews

It sometimes seems strange that one of my favourite bars seems to get very mixed reviews on the Pattaya forums. And I can see both sides of the debate.

The bar has more than its far share of girls who would never get a job in Walking Street. But it also has a few girls that would easily make the grade.

They all hands on and friendly, it is just a matter of selecting ones that appeal. To enjoy the bar, one simply has to be able to 'sack away' the girls that don't appeal. If you get friendly with girls that don't appeal, then you can almost guarantee that they will try jumping on your lap for every visit in the next 5 years. The bar must look after the girls well as some of them stay a long long time.

Maybe because the girls stay a long time, I have got to know some of them better than most girls in Pattaya. So it is almost like a local.

  Review Feb 2009: More Dilapidated More Expensive

The bar struggled to maintain momentum over the peak season as there simply weren't enough girls to round. (But no doubt the finances were healthy).

However things seem back to normal and there are enough girls on the bar that 2 or 3 will soon jump on your lap.

However a couple of less welcoming features have started to emerge. The first is that perennial lady drink upgrade without asking first. This is clearly a new policy as it has not happened for years of regular visits. I put a stop to it as far as I was concerned, but I notice that an awful lot of girls are now drinking 150 Baht Breezers. The standard lady drink went up not so long ago from 80 to 90 Baht.

The other misguided policy change, is for the girls to dance for 5 songs rather than the previous 4. To be slightly blunt, not so many of the girls are employed for their on stage grace. They are for more gainfully employed as literal lap dancers. The extra song just makes customers wait longer and the girls get even more tired after their 9 or 12 hour shift.

Still plenty of fun to be had but keep an eye on what your girls are drinking.

  Review June 2008: Seedy Fun

The state of the decor is getting worse and worse with time. The stained concrete ceiling effect is second to none. The benches are falling apart and the foot rests are nearly rotted through.

But what the hell, it is a great bar. The girls are up for more naughty fun than nearly all the competition put together.

There are a few potential downers though, there are a fair few oldies and chubbies. All the girls can be good fun but it depends a little on personal taste on how one deals with the choice.

There are plenty of attractive girls employed by the bar, but it often seems that they are all otherwise engaged. In fact the bar must do really well for the girls as some seem to be whisked away as soon as they turn up for work.

In fact the high turnover means that if you feel a bit stuck for choice, then wait a drink or two, and a few returnees will soon appear.

The other characteristic of the bar is that the girls like to jump on your lap in teams of 2 or 3 rather than as individuals. But if you can't stand the heat, then don't diddle in the fire of Hot & Cold.

  Review by polleke, Oct 2007: Hands on fun

For being one of my fave bars, I hadn't paid a visit for 6 months. Fortunately nothing has changed only the line-up.

2 minutes after entering I was treated with a balls massage from 2 girls that jumped aside me. After a couple of minutes they were replaced by a more fancied girl and the treatment went on.

I am aware they are not the most beautiful girls in town but hell it must be one of the most hands on fun dens in Pats. I too saw customers entering and leaving right away, but for me I hope the place stays the same for a long long time.

Be aware: the girls are pushy for threesomes, just stay firm, unless of course you want a threesome.

  Review April 2009: Asians Agog

The gogo still tries to be both farang friendly and Asian coach party friendly. But on my last visit the bar was pretty near full of Asians looking agog at the razor blades being drawn from a girl's pussy.

One is tempted to be a bit dismissive of such non-erotic shows but the bar surely had more customers than some of the farang oriented gogos in town.

Whilst the bells and whistles shows continue on one stage there is a girl soaping herself in the Jacuzzi. Its not geared up to allow for much customer interaction though.

The beer prices are kept at reasonable levels for the pay as you go farangs with draft at 55 Baht.

It is very much like its sister bar, Playgirls, just down the street but this one is probably the better due to having a few more attractive girls.

  Review Oct 2008: Pretty Hot

The bar is pitched at Asian tourists in that there are no drinks prices advertised by the welcome staff who are also there to charge unsuspecting visitors an entrance charge. As always the bar is free to farangs.

But the strange thing is that it is a perfectly good bar for farang customers too. There is a cheap draft beer at 55 Baht albeit in a small glass. The lady drinks are also in line with other bars at 110 Baht.

There are some pretty dancing girls and they are happy to pop over for a chat. No undue hassle and I had a perfectly pleasant stay.

There is a bells and whistles show but it is at least simultaneous with a pretty girl soaping herself in a Jacuzzi. The shows alternate with dancing and the girls just dance 2 songs. No sooner did my drinking partners say I go dance, and she was back by my side.

Probably mostly down to my pretty hostess, but I well enjoyed my visit.

  Review Jan 2008: Not Recommended

Entrance 600 baht + 1 drink free. Girls were taller and more beautiful, only topless. but the girls were more demanding and ripped off about 1000 baht from us. I don't recommend this place to anyone. seating arrangements too were poor.

  Review Dec 2007: Schizophrenic

The new layout of the bar is the fashionable white theme complete with Jacuzzi. The bar have recruited a few pretty girls to take good advantage of the shower show.

However the bar is still persisting with the bells and whistle show. But the focus of this is a stage towards the back of the bar.

On my visit though, the bar had not yet succeeded in attracting people to watch the shower show. There was just me enjoying the pretty girls of the front stages. A coach party of people were crowded around the old stagers doing their bells and whistles thing on the back stage.

It was fine by me!

  Update from Ray, Nov 2007: Renovated Hot Girls

The bar's had a makeover rather similar to Noi's and is much improved.

The front stage has replaced by seating which has all been upgraded to comfortable white benches and there are now two smaller stages in the middle of the bar, one for dancers, one for the shower show.

The rear stage still has the occasional bells and whistles show.

Worth a look.

  Review May 2007: Off the Radar

The bar seems to warrant hardy a mention in the Pattaya forums so it was time to go and take a look for myself.

The bar is long and very narrow with a couple of side stages on opposite sides. Some seating affords very poor viewing of the stage.

There were about 20 girls of which at least one was katoey. They weren't a bad looking crew. Three were dancing on the first stage and more dance on the second stage if there are enough customers to move down into the seats overlooking that stage.

Perhaps the most striking reason for the lack of farang comments is that most of the customers are Asian. It seems that bells and whistles shows identify that a bar is targeting Asian customers.

There is a menu card on the tables that advertises fixed rates for bar fines, rooms and short time rates for the girls.

Didn't spot anything bad about the bar...it is just that there are so many better bars nearby.

  Review July 2010: Pumping

I've been meaning to take another look for a while now but, for obviously good reasons, the bar has always simply been too full for my tastes.

But for my latest visit I tried earlier about 10ish and it was about a third full. I sat in the middle of the bar so as to report on all the stages.

The front stage was filled with about a dozen girls in a very square military formation. They were all bikini clad except when the got to the last position, they would generally take off their tops. There were some good looking dancers but not exclusively so.

The middle Jacuzzi had a couple of girls doing the Jacuzzi thing enjoyed by a couple of ringsiders. This was not the most popular spectacle. The star stage seemed to be the back stage where the lookers were. There were usually 4 girls half dancing and half doing the usual play stage antics. They were rotating through clothing from bikinis to none.

I was well looked after by a front stage dancer who proved very diverting company. All totally hassle free and without stupidities like lady cocktails. We did have to shoo away an old mamasang who bizarrely thought she may be able to contribute something to our private proceedings.

Actually for the price of the 120 Baht lady drink or two, the girl was excused dancing duties for quite a while, at least until the bar filled and their weren't enough spare ladies to take up the slack.

All in all the visit was a complete success with the only minor gripe being the music volume making verbal conversation a bit of a strain. Still my drinking partner had gotten used to this, and developed an easy to understand tactile body language that got most necessary messages across.

  Warning from Pattaya Forums: Expensive Lady Drinks

Rapid success seems to have been too much of a temptation and there have been a fair amount of complaints about the bar appearing on Pattaya forums.

Particularly prevalent are very expensive lady drinks turning up without the customer asking for them or being told about how expensive the drink being asked for (up to 240 Baht!).

  Review by Materialsman October 2009: No Iron Hoofs

Next to the popular Airport and has a similar layout and some smartly dressed Hello girls outside, although they don't really maintain the concept throughout the staff like Airport. As discussed on various forums, the Club is unfortunately named for some London based Brits, Irons being a word associated with gays, in Cocker'nee rhyming slang, iron hoofs = poofs, fortunately there are only women dancing here.

I have read that the layout is not conducive to sitting in comfort, and I have to agree, having been trodden on a couple of times while people passed by, but it makes good use of the limited space and sort of opens out the further back you go near to the now standard Jacuzzi areas where girls were soaping each other and whipping buttocks with gay abandon. It's pretty smart inside the Club, though the quality of dancing girls left a little to be desired, but it is early days and there is time for it to get better, a sprinkling of beauties though, not all farm fresh awkward shufflers, and the Tequila girl was to die for.

I had a girl target me pretty quickly, I put that down to my beautiful new Hawaiian shirt rather than my visage, so I humoured her for a while until she went to dance/shuffle and finished my beer and made my escape, as her conversation was sadly lacking, must have been new to the scene. Can't remember the drink price, I think around 125 Baht for the bottle, reasonable enough for Walking Street, but currently I could only award a 7/10 due to the standard of girls, but I will give it another try next time, I liked the décor.

  Review October 2009: Iron Awe

An impressive looking venue with a surprisingly large, high ceiling interior.  There is bench seating down both sides of the bar.

The iron theme is perhaps a little cold, but it looks pretty good. The bar is basically long and narrow with 3 stages.  Nearest the door is a gogo stage for 9 dancers. The dancers were wearing a uniform with a futuristic theme and a short blouse garment covering the shoulders. The uniform allows options for either a bra or topless.

The girls were a pretty good selection considering the early days of the bar. But they were dancing an extremely long dance stint of 9 songs. Obviously the bar is hoping for a Happy style audience with watchers rather than those wanting the company of a girl. The trouble is of course, that not many bars can command the quality of Happy, and this bar is not yet one of those select few.

The dancing girls weren't being the slightest bit friendly in terms of seeking out lady drinks and the like.

The middle of the bar has the now inevitable Jacuzzi with 2 girls at a time soaping themselves down. There are stools surrounding the action.

The back stage is quite elaborate with a raised platform and maybe a small rotating platform. The stage was occupied by 2 girls performing a more energetic dance than the standard gogo fare.

The service staff were also wearing smart uniforms, perhaps Air Port Club have set a new trend in motion.

It is early days and the bar wasn't working too well on my visit. Customers were only staying for a single drink. I rather think the dancers uniform will soon be dispensed with as, whatever people claim, less clothes is best. No reason why uniforms for service staff shouldn't continue though.

And if the bar does take off though there is an issue with the layout. There is not really enough space to have stools down the side of the main stage as well as it being a major thoroughfare to he back stages of the bar. There's likely to be all sorts of bumping and barging, surely not a good idea for somewhere where people are likely to be a little drunk after a few beers.

  Review March 2010: No Sense

Of the four dancing bars at the end of Soi 6, Kiss Kool is the least satisfactory for those that pop in for the dancing.

As a typical Soi 6 short time bar where a girl is chosen at the door it can work fine. Except that the girls I have spoken to have been those that ask for a lady drink in the first breath and to 'go up' in the second. Probably just bad luck.

But the bar seems to have no flexibility to cater for customers who want to do the typical GoGo thing of entering, ordering a drink, relaxing for a while whilst watching the dancing, and surveying the ladies for a likely drinking partner. Any attempt along these lines will surely result in a lonely drink. If one declines the option of a girl on the door then you will then be ignored for the rest of the visit.

The strange thing is that by employing this mode of operation then there is absolutely no point to the dancing. The customers who have picked a hostess at the door will be busy with them. And because the bar doesn't seem to cater for dance watchers, then there are no customers to take an interest in the dancers. So then the dancing becomes little more than a perfunctory shuffle.

The bar is, however, noteworthy for the pleasant decor and good layout of seating with lots of curves and bays.

The drinks prices are reasonable too.

  Review June 2009: Mandatory Lady Drinks

Can't say I got a very friendly reception on my last visit. I smiled at a pretty girl sitting outside only to find that she was a newbie and had a friend acting as a minder. I wasn't very enamoured by the uninvited minder and indicated that I found 3 to be a crowd. The minder didn't take it well and decided that the bar had just implemented a no lady drink - no company policy and she whisked the original girl away on that pretext.

I sorted it out but the incident rather soured the visit.

But at least the bar has a fair few girls, the drinks are reasonably priced and the decor is good.

  Review Jan 2009: Up To Speed

The previously reported scaling down of the number of girls was apparently the aftermath of a police raid.

The numbers now seem to have returned to previous levels. Saying that, I haven't actually been tempted in yet to see if the extra numbers have restored the bar to its former glory.

The bar is nicely decorated in a tiger theme and the drinks prices are reasonable.

The girls are at least 20 years old and the bar doesn't employ lady boys.

  Review Oct 2008: Superfluous Dancing

Kiss Kool seems to have scaled down since my last visit. And in the jargon of my trade, it hasn't scaled down well.

There were just half a dozen girls waiting outside, a couple of dancers and one other girl drinking with a customer. The lack of momentum means that there are no customers being entertained by the dancers. Selecting a girl at the door tends to ensure an intense short time interview, which makes the dancing superfluous.

And it got worse. My girl said: I go dance, She said 5 minutes but it was interminable. The bar was by this time totally empty apart from me and my girl. And she was bikini clad dancing in an inane unsexy shuffle to dance music that was of no interest whatsoever.

Really a dreadful way to entertain the only customer...who predictably didn't stay long.

...oh, and there was no draft beer either, so not a particularly cheap way to get bored silly.

  Review Nov 2007: Hard Sell

Kiss Kool is proving to be pretty conservative with little changing over the last year or so.

The bar seems popular with plenty of ladies. There is comfortable sofa seating in an attractive tiger skin decor. There's a large screen TV but it can show some pretty irrelevant programmes to what is the business of the bar.

There are usually 3 dancing girls modestly attired in bikinis. They are not really the focus of the attention as most customers will have a personal service girl on hand.

The bar operates more as a short time bar than a gogo with the girls up for selection as you walk in rather than circulating around the inside of the bar.

The girls seem to be aging a little and I found the bar to have a slightly hard edge with the hard sell to go upstairs.

But there seems little reason to change a well tried and tested formula so I don't supposed things will change much in the foreseeable future.

  Review March 2007: Half Way Decent

The bar area is attractive with comfortable sofas done out in a tiger theme. There is a large screen TV but variable programme choice means that this proves more of an distraction than an entertainment.

The bar is half way to a gogo in that there is bikini clad dancing on show but the real entertainment is the hands on grope provided with a view to a short time upstairs.

The draft beer is reasonably priced as are the lady drinks.

I would visit more but I dislike choosing a girl from the line up at the door after just a quick glance. And if you don't choose a girl, the default house selection always seems to disappoint.

Kitten Club and Obsessions are 2 GoGo bars in one. They each have their own entrance but that lead to the same bar, a large GoGo bar with a central stage.

Kitten GoGo bar is a girl GoGo bar while Pattaya Obsessions is a Lady Boy GoGo bar. The left part of the stage and the left part of the bar are for girls and for girl oriented customers (real girls dance on the left part of the stage only) and the right part of the stage and the right part of the bar are for LB and LB oriented customers (LB dance on the right part of the stage only). Waitresses are either girls or LB and obviously are not limited to any part of the bar. Strange but interesting mix.

Real girls wear red, lady boys wear black.

The bar underwent a complete remodelling a few months back after being forced to close for some misdemeanour or other.

While the new layout is more attractive than the previous rabbit-warren incarnation, the overall quality of the dancing damsels is borderline freak show.

Apart from the ladyboys, the genuine girls dancing damsels are a mixed bunch. While a couple are arguably attractive (and given the lighting I think they may well have started life as boys), most are either overweight or just plain frightening.

Drinks prices are ridiculous for what’s on offer: 150 baht for spirits, 139 baht for a lady drink, and 79 baht for draught beer.

Not worth a cracker unless your tastes run to the gender-confused.

I decided to look into Kitten club because I had read that they had now moved the ladyboys to a separate bar. How wrong I was.

The service staff marched me right to the back of the bar and then 3 tall ladyboys descended on me like pigeons around fallen breadcrumbs.

Kitten Club seems to have split into two. There are now two doors; one saying Kitten Club and the other Obsessions. They look to be two separate clubs.

Now Obsessions in Bangkok's Nana Plaza is a ladyboy bar so there is the possibility that this is the case in Pattaya too.

Due to high prices and customer unfriendly policies such as unpriced bills in the bin, Kitten Club is on the Thai-Anxiety, "Never Again" list. So it may be a while before further details are available.

Kitten Club also has a large impressive new neon sign.

There is a closed circuit channel on the Penthouse Hotel melonf78TV so you can, more or less, see girls dancing inside the kitten club downstairs.

Unfortunately, the Kitten Club is a disaster. Up close you realize most of the girls are skanky and some of the girls are ladyboys and one in particular was aggressive and acting stupid. They dance over some jets of air which lifts their skirts Marilyn Monroe style but hey who wants to see ladyboys' skirts fly up? So, although I have mixed feeling about the hotel itself, I have no mixed feelings whatever about the Kitten Club: AVOID.

  Review August 2009: Regulars

A brief visit as a couple of familiar faces meant that I couldn't dally long.

There were just 2 dancing girls who were bikini clad, There were another half dozen girls on hostessing duty. The girls were not special, so it is more down to a good bit of personal attention to keep the customers entertained.

Most of what was going on in my short visit was pretty innocent chatting, but I rather guess that more fun could be had if the customers so wished.

A decent draft was served for the good price of 50 Baht.

It all seemed a steady sort of place where everyone looked content enough.

At least they had a few customers. I guess that there is a pretty regular crowd here. Perhaps even a few regulars that remember the naked pool played at the bars previous location in Jomtien.

Las Vegas have reduced their drinks prices with a very reasonable 50 Baht draft (from 75 Baht).

Las Vegas have somewhat less than top notch bikini clad dancers but they are very friendly. Hands on and hands in as I like to say.

When this Bar was situated on Soi Post Office it was a regular stop off place for me and my friends during a good weekend daytime pub crawl, had many a good time there, and bedded some fairly decent girls there over the years, and the owner Peter came up with a classic retort one day that sticks in my mind even now, I has chastened him for his girls lack of enthusiasm on the dance floor, and he said My girls are here to get fucked, not to dance, and you can’t argue with that logic can you? Sadly, the in new place the girls showed a similar lack of enthusiasm, and I couldn’t see even one girl in the worth playing with.

As for the Bar, well it certainly appeared smaller than the original place, although a little bit classier in terms of décor, the old place was fairly basic if my memory serves me well.

I will give the place another try in the New Year, if only in deference to Peter and his unique style of man (woman) management.

  Review Sept 2008: Opening Night

The bar opened with very much the feel that it will blend in with its near neighbours, Far East Rock, Club Nevada, Spicy Girls and Hot & Cold. It is similarly sized too.

It will open in the afternoon and offers reasonable rates for in house short times.

The drinks seem to be set slightly higher than the opposition with a 75 Baht draft. Lady drinks were 100 Baht

There were plenty of girls on hand for the opening night, although a little questioning suggests that some were employed just for a day or two. The girls were very much a mixed bunch with a few that were presentable.

The dress code is bikini but only 3 or 4 were dancing at anyone time. Surely a good idea giving more time for smooching rather than dancing. There are no novelties such as Jacuzzis or show girls, so the bar will just have to rely on the girls providing good old fashioned hands on entertainment.

I enjoyed my stay but will have to stop by again to make a more realistic appraisal of its offerings. Everyone was eager to please on opening night.

Prominent for sales signs rather suggests that this is a permanent closure.

I would guess that the girls have moved to Mistys or Beavers.

The bar was always a good one as far as I was concerned and will be a loss to the scene. Halving in size was always a danger sign for the bar. Halving the size of the bar also left the comfortable seating badly placed for a view of the stage.

Also small gogos are notoriously hard to keep going as they lack the flexibility to match the numbers of girls with the number of customers.

  Review August 2009: Too Small

Legs Club is basically a pretty good gogo in terms of the way the bar is run. But the small size makes for a variable customer experience.

The bar typically has about 10 dancers of which 3 or 4 dance at any one time. The dress code is mostly topless and some girls maintain this when mingling. There are some attractive dancers on the books.

The downside of the size is that as soon as there half dozen customers in the bar, and a couple of barfines, then there aren't enough girls to go round.

On one visit my drinking partner was ordered from my side to sit with one of the managers mates. Totally out of order.

My current tactic is to take a look inside and if there are more than a handful of customers, then I try again another day. But still the bar can be good if it is not crowded.

  News March 2009: Slimmed Down Legs

Legs Club has been reduced down to half size. A wall has been constructed such that Legs Club is now a narrow single unit bar with a side stage.

It is now similar in layout to the unsuccessful Popcorn just down the soi. There is stool seating facing the stage abd a little comfortable seating at the front and back of the bar that does not offer a particularly good view of the stage.

For the moment most other things in the bar are the same as before with about 10 dancers of which 2 or 3 are very attractive. They now just dance for 3 songs which is good.

I hope the bar can maintain momentum. It is notoriously hard to make a small gogo work. It is difficult to maintain a good balance between girls and customers.

  Review February 2009: Lucky

The bar is running at a somewhat smaller scale than when it was Mistys with maybe a dozen dancers starting the evening.

The girls dance a nice short stint on the central stage with topless being the standard dress code.

I seem to have been lucky nearly every time I have visited the bar. There always seems to be a girl I know from another bar, or else a good looking native of Legs Club.  And they always seem keen to get re-acquainted.

But on the other hand luck is generally made by a good attitude from the girls and management.

Anyway it works for me at the moment.

  Review May 2010: Low Season Design Issues

I dropped by the bar at a reasonable time and the bar had a handful of customers, 8, I counted them. But the crazy thing was that the bar was effectively full.

The bar was designed in times of plentiful customers, but now there aren't so many around, the large bar design is proving useless.

There are loads of decent seats around the edge of the bar but these are around table dancing stages that aren't being used. These seats are way too far away from the main stage so just end up being dark and empty.

There are a couple of bays of seating, but most of the seats either face away from the stage or else have a restricted side on view blocked by posts.

The only other seats are the best in the house. There is a long bench with a decent view of the stage down the front wall. This bench was filled with 6 of the 8 customers. There are plenty of small stools around but, these were uncomfortable and last choice.

The bar had a dozen or so dancers with 6 dancing and 6 enjoying chatting to customers. So again the bar was effectively operating pretty near capacity with just 8 customers.

And soon there were 7 because a comfortable seat and a pretty girl by ones side is the basic requirement for a successful gogo of this type.

But at least the bar had 7 customers, who seemed to be enjoying the hands on entertainment.

After a long layoff, a visit to Classroom 2 (Soi 2) was in order. It was a mega-disappointment. Formerly operating like Windmill and Baby Dolls, C2 is now tame to say the least. The single lady in the shower was the only nekkid one. Precious few nipples were on display and gone were the naughty girls stage and the table dancing. The most endearing members of the staff were the service ladies.

At one point. my traveling partner and I comprised 2/3 of the entire customer level!

I admit that the seating drawbacks noted. Also the diversity of the dress and entertainment seems a bit bizarre, yet somehow it all seems to work in the end.

But the dancers are regularly bar-fined. One day just this week there were only 5 left at 2AM; the servers were pressed into service as dancers.

C2 seems to be a late nite venue. Nothing much seems to be going on before 10pm and things pick-up rapidly thereafter.

Somehow this place seems to flourish.

  Review April 2009: Large Classes

I am struggling a little bit with this venue, it never seems to click.

I wandered it an early hour and there weren't more than a handful of customers in but somehow there was nowhere left to sit. The venue is really quite large and it has not scaled down very well. Without the table dancing in operation there are an awful lot of seats that are simply too far away from the action now confined to the central stage and Jacuzzi. There are also a couple of other bays of seating that simply aren't pointed in the right direction.

There were quite a few dancers covering quite a range attractiveness and quite a range of coverage too. Some were topless yet some were well overdressed in skirts, knickers, bras and blouses.

The draft beer was cheap and the service staff were friendly.

I am always happy to pop in and give it a try but rarely has it persuaded me to stay long.

Well, time was moving on apace, so it was time for a trip down memory lane and The Classroom 2 A Go-Go in Soi 2 where I have had many a happy time over the years. Walked in to a fairly quiet establishment, but the line up was pretty reasonable, and a lithe lovely soaping herself in a Jacuzzi type bath. Actually, I wondered to myself after watching her soap herself squeaky clean for over an hour, ‘If I paid the bar for her, would she come back to ‘my loom’ and insist on another shower, if so, why?’

Well, we enjoyed the schoolgirl clad dancers, when suddenly the music changed and the good lookers ran off stage and the ‘showgirls’ appeared. When did Classroom2 become a ‘bells and whistles’ pussy show bar? So, we sat through a couple of shows, including ‘pussy smoke cigarette’ show, which took me by surprise as I thought smoking was banned in air conditioned bars? Smoking was definitely bad for this particular girl’s health, as she appeared to be smoking two or three at a time! Thankfully, this show wasn’t too long, as whatever hidden talents this girl obviously has, being slim and a looker wasn’t amongst them.

The bar had started to fill up by then, a party of bemused looking Asians, and a gang of loud Aussie back-backers had come in off the street, but that was the pattern of events, a couple of songs for the dancing girls, then show time again. To my eternal shame, one of the mamasans identified me as being an old time Pattaya monger, and roped me in for a bit of audience participation due to lack of interest from the other attendees, so yours truly got pushed up on stage for both the ‘pussy shoots darts at balloon’ show, and the ‘pussy fires bananas’ show, which culminated in the last banana being fired out after I had retaken my seat and wasn’t ready for it leaving me with a couple of nasty looking white sticky stains to both my shirt and trousers, much to the amusement of my drinking buddy.

Drinks I think were a strangely priced 106 baht a bottle, which I guess is okay considering the show, but a little pressure for ‘tips’ was prevalent after each extravaganza, though I tried to protest that I should actually receive my share of the tips for my ‘performance’, but to no avail. I don’t begrudge the poor girl her tips, she probably doesn’t get much in the way of bar fines.

So off we went out of the door, and the girl in the Jacuzzi was still soaping herself up, trying to find and cleanse body orifices she had previously missed. Overall the place was okay, but I preferred the old style of purely dancing girls, don’t need to see the pussy shows as I am a jaded ex-pat, but it may suit some.

  Review June 2008: Put to Shame

The bars seems to be very much a mixed bag. The bar was pretty quiet when I stopped by, but a friendly service girl told me but it was very crowded the night before (Pattaya bars are often crowded yesterday and tomorrow but never today)

The girls were also very mixed in attire. There was one beautifully built girl dancing topless, but most of the others were wearing skirts and blouses, and in many cases, bras too. I am wondering if the large chested girl should be asked to cover up. I have a theory that the others were overdressed because they were put to shame by the beauty,

The drinks prices were quite constrained and the music was forgettable which is better than being loud.

No real reason why the bar shouldn't make for a good visit, but as none of the girls felt like being friendly to me, I didn't stay long. Nearby Soi 6 is way too inviting for this bar to be anything less than great.

I visited the bar at a prime time of about 11pm. The bar was enjoying a sizeable crowd who seemed to be enjoying the shows.

The format was for a few show numbers on the central stage, and then a few numbers of when all the gogo dancers would take the stage. The stints were not too long which is always good in my opinion.

I have a feeling that the bar doesn't really target hardened Pattaya gogo fans though. The shows are choreographed but not outrageously sexy. In the few numbers I saw the girls were a bit shy and kept their knickers on throughout. Good looking girls, but their reputation of being not so keen to go with customers diminishes the attraction somewhat.

The gogo dancers were average (which of course is pretty good in Walking Street). Again they were a bit shy, with only a couple of the dozen on stage, taking their tops off.

The bar seemed to excel in meeting and greeting, lots of happy long lost friends seem to be re-uniting with girls and staff from previous visits. My service girl was well friendly too.

I can't say I was impressed by the dancing girls hunting lady drinks in twos though. It always telegraphs to me a money grabbing attitude rather than the desire for a one to one hook up.

I would suggest that this is one of the better bars in Pattaya for farang couples. They can enjoy the friendly reception along with the cabaret style show without it being too outrageous.

As a rather hardened pleasure seeker though, I found the entertainment to be marginally sexy, and the drinks prices way too expensive at 135 Baht for a bottled beer.

There were plenty of silicone-enhanced showgirls still left after 1 am, although they seemed content to play among themselves, leaving the handful of customer in the bar to sip as slowly as possible on the ridiculously priced 150-baht shorts.

Shows or not, LDS has to be the biggest clip joint in Pattaya. Even Angelwitch, with shows and an environment five times better than Showcase, prices their drinks at 145 baht. Remind me not ever to go back there.

Visited the bar several times this week and really loved it.

There is a central stage crowded by more than average looking girls. They have some shows but they can't compete with the ones in Angelwitch.

There was one girl though that was an outstanding dancer. However there are so many lovely dancing girls, my eyes were caught by a gorgeous hostess (barfine 600 Baht, 2000 LT)

Note: there are a couple of very beautiful girls, that have big sponsors. I was told they ask 10,000 bath ST ( discount when they like you). They actually get barfined 3-4 times a week. Certainly not by me.

  Review July 2007: Closely Packed

The bar may be a very popular show bar but I find the drinks prices way too high to justify more than an occasional visit.

So given the new happy hour I thought I would give it a go.

For the life of me I could not suss what they are up to. Every single dancing girl in the bar was packed on the stage. There were about 15 but as late comers rolled in they would get changed and then add to the pack.

The girls were slightly above average with just a couple revealing their tops. The stage was a bit too packed to really allow for much in the way of dancing.

Certainly not worth watching, nor were there any girls that were free to sit at your side for a chat.

I was totally baffled by the lack of entertainment value in the the proceedings and my visits will surely remain occasional.

  Review August 2010: Dance Too Much

Lollipop is one of the bars that has many of the features in place that makes for a good bar.

It is tightly run and plays it straight. There's no hassle and the staff and management are friendly and able.

There usually a fair amount of attractive girls and they have the full range of dress codes from over dressed coyote to very little.

The drinks prices are reasonable too.

All sounds good bar one design flaw. The bar has nearly all the girls dancing and the dance stint is overlong too.

The few girls on hostess duty, waiting their turn to dance, aren't particularly pro-active in searching out lady drinks either. Perhaps because their turn to dance will come around too quickly to make it worthwhile.

One contributor to a Pattaya forum suggested that they have worked around the over-dancing problem by sitting at the play table stage. It seems that the girls there can take good care of nearby customers whilst still nominally on their dancing turn.

Other than that, the bar is still worth a visit for those that prefer watching over interacting.

Lollipop seems to be a bar in decline, but one that has found a comfortable plateau. Changes from earlier reviews are evident. Having once employed 3-4 dozen girls, it is now down to a dozen-plus. Outside hostesses/hello girls were apparently available for back-up if needed.

It seemed a bit strange to see coyote dancers, topless and nekkid ladies all on the stage at one time. I suppose they are trying to appeal to all tastes.

The Jacuzzi area in the back of the bar is now curtained off and the play mat only seems to be used by request but the manager and the girls seemed quite willing to do so if asked. The dozen girls were more than enough for the 9pm customer demand. Those few customers were generally experiencing an up-close-and-personal interaction. They also seemed to be resident expats returning to the bar -- given the reaction of the staff -- rather than first time tourists.

Comfortable seating, Walking Street prices, hands-on interaction, reasonable volume of the music, all make for a very nice experience. One added feature is that the katoey mamasan seemed to exempt the girls on customer's laps or on the play mat from their normal dance rotation.

  Review, October 2009: Worth a Pop

The bar seems to have evolved a strange little characteristic that it seems to be the mamasang and even the service girls who do the connecting between girls and customers. If left to their own devices the girls seem to like sitting together in distant recesses of the bar.

The bar is pretty traditional with the main focus of attention being a fair amount of girls dancing on the central stage. There are usually a few pretty girls and there is the full range of bikini or not on display.

The play mat and Jacuzzi haven't been a big draw during my visits to the bar. The play mat stage seems to have become just another dancing stage.

All in all, a generally pleasant place for a drink that could improve a little if the dancers were a little more pro-active in taking care of customers.

The gogo is pretty sound with good looking girls dancing on the central stage with little in the way of clothing. Then there is a play mat stage and a Jacuzzi at the back of the bar.

Drinks prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly.

Somehow I have drifted away from making this a regular stop on my circuit. A couple of times it has been a bit depleted of girls and another couple of times the girls have been bagged by younger and more attractive customers.

Maybe I get the impression that they prefer the customers who like to sit back and watch the dancing rather than those that prefer one on one company. Just a matter of the available ratio of girls.

But still worth a try, I think I have just been unlucky.

  Review by Ray, March 2008: Moving up the League

Bit tricky to find, this bar, it's tucked under the Polo Entertainment Centre and its entrance is permanently obstructed by the crowd of rubberneckers gawking up at the gyrating Natasha in the Galaxy Cabaret window.

Once you do manage to locate it you will find a bar that's deeper than it's wide with the front section set up as a standard go-go and the rear section fitted out with a jacuzzi and a sexy show table.

I've visited this bar a few times now and I think I'm getting the hang of it. I picked out a dancer that caught my eye on the way through and went back to check out the show. To my surprise the showgirl and my dancer seemed to hit it off and as there weren't too many other customers around we soon had a nice three way going.

When the show was over the showgirl leant over and whispered to me that she was really pleased I had brought that particular dancer over as she fancied her herself but hadn't had an excuse to get her hands on her before!

Lollipop is rapidly moving up my personal league table.

  Review Feb 2008: Naughty Table

The bar is slowly progressing and now have enough girls to keep a steady 2 girl show going on the show table. They follow in the traditional naughty mould of Windmill and Baby Dolls etc. Suitably friendly to keep me entertained for an hour anyway. There is also a Jacuzzi but the naughty table gets top priority when the numbers are low.

The main stage is a traditional Isaan shuffle affair and still seems to lack a little momentum. Nothing really amiss, probably just a matter of time as people get to know of the bar.

Last time I visited I spotted a few girls newly recruited from Sisterz.

  Review May 2010:  Better

For much of the last year the bar has looked a little bit underwhelming with few enticing girls outside. But my most recent foray was an enjoyable visit.

It was hardly what you could call heaving, but there were a few customers and friendly enough girls to ensure that they were enjoying good customer care.

There were just 2 girls dancing generally in bikinis but sometimes less. They had a nice short dance roster so didn't spend too long away from their more important customer care role.

The drinks prices are very reasonable.

Hardly earth shattering, but at least the bar is now an alternative to Betty Boup/Passion. These seem to have relinquished their previous dominance of dancing bars on the soi.

  Review May 2009: Red

The bar seemed pretty much unchanged from previous incarnations.

There are still 4 bays of comfortable sofa seating overlooking a central dancing area now cut down to 2 smallish stages. At the other side of the room there is quite an expansive bar counter. It all looks pretty good with the sumptuous red theme that is traditional to the bar.

The dancers were generally a little below par and were a little overdressed dancing in skirts, knickers and bikini tops.

There were about 8 girls on duty, 2 of which were dancing. A couple were sitting with customers and the rest were sitting out front.

2 of the girls were good looking but unfortunately I was the 3rd in line. The 2 pretty girls were in fact looking after their customers well, but my assignment was a bit prim and proper, so not really much to stay for.

The draft beer was a reasonable 60 Baht.

On Walking Street someone stuck a Buy 1 Get 1 ticket in my hand outside a new place called Moulin Rouge. It is a new bar with Russian girls .

I went up the stairs and into a very dark red room with around 8 Russian dancers, 5 Thai bartenders and me as the only customer. I sat down to watch the dancers and ordered one Heineken.

2 minutes later the waiter came back with a bill of 260 Baht!! and insisted I paid it before I could get my beer. Anyway I paid the bill and got my beer, and found out that the Buy 1 Get 1 ticket I received 4 minutes ago outside their door, was no longer valid.

After 5 minutes a pretty rough looking Russian dancer came over and started crawling on me. No thank you, I only want to sit and watch the show. She snarled at me and told me the rules said you cannot refuse a dancer and you must pay her some tips. You can only tip 100 baht, and its better when you tip more than one bill.

I got up, got out, and left the nice Russian girl with my 260 Baht Heineken.

  Review July 2010: Moderate

Naughty Girls continues its very traditional approach to GoGo.

The bar has a narrow central stage featuring maybe be 10 girls dancing at a time. They do a very slow rotation of one girl per song making for a way too long 10 song dance session. There are generally some attractive girls and they dance either topless or bikini clad.

There is comfortable bench seating around 3 sides of the square bar.

There is a cheap draft beer at 55 Baht.

The bars main drawback is that it does not seem to have a found a good way to hook the girls up with customers.

Perhaps they seek to emulate Super Girls next door, where the girls don't make the first move and wait for their number to be called by a customer. Most customers in Super Girls are happy to bide their time over a few beers whilst making their choice. But Naughty does not quite attract the top notch level of girls required to make this mode of operation work. Naughty ends up with a very moderate mix of an uninspired show and not very interactive girls.

  Review February 2010: Symmetry

There's a certain symmetry to Soi Diamond, with the two centre bars on either side of the beer bar isle being somewhat bereft of ideas. (And often, customers)

Naughty Girls is not too far off the mark. It is an attractive bar with a central stage. There is comfortable bench seating around the sides of the bar. There are table dancing positions set amongst this seating, but it is rarely used these days.

On my last couple of visits there have been some very attractive dancers on show too.

There's a 55 Baht draft beer and other drink prices are in line with Pattaya norms.

The flaws that I see are that the girls dance a very long stint, which is usually a cue to depart for anyone waiting for a particular girl.

Secondly in common with neighbours, The Sea and New Star, the bar seems to think that the most attractive girls should be given the onerous job of sitting by the door. If it were my bar, I would assign them the job of sitting with customers instead. Better to get at least a few customers with as smile on their face, rather than concentrating on getting people into the bar only to leave them lonely and bored.

  Review June 2009: Middling

Now a very traditional gogo with not really much going on except the stage full of girls. The bar still seems to err by having too many girls dancing and not really enough on hostess duty. But better ratios then about a year ago.

There are about 10 girls on stage and most are bikini clad with a few topless. Probably about average for Pattaya but that means there are several that are attractive. The dance roster is too long and if your girls says I go dance, then the best reply is: ok I go check bin.

From what I have seen recently the bar is struggling for customers. I've not really helped out much by staying for a second drink, I have been ignored, double teamed and targeted by the bar oldie.

The draft beer is reasonably priced.

The bar is not a million miles away from getting it right but at the moment is does not seem a roaring success.

  Review Jan 2009: Naughtier and Better

Things seem to have improved at Naughty Girls. The bars has recently abandoned its policy of making all available girls dance and there are now a few that available for a chat.

Also a general air of happier girls may also have led to a few more of them taking their tops off for dancing. The unrevealing black boob tube that they used to wear has mostly been left in the changing room where it belongs, and small standard bikinis are now the norm.

I am told that the lady drinks are now more tightly controlled and customers are no longer stung for the expensive cocktail. It is hard to check this out though as I make such a point of ordering a standard lady drink that I am unlikely to get the girls trying it on.

In fact I was very well looked after by a friendly hands on dancer and would have been tempted to stay longer if it wasn't for the still overly long dance roster of about 7 songs.

  Review May 2008: What's Going On?

I've given up on this bar as I can't really work out what is going on.

The good news is that there are plenty of good looking dancing girls. The bad news is that they are nearly all set continuously dancing.

It may look good to have a bar full of dancing girls but I prefer to have a bit of company.

As far as I can tell the girls are only excused dancing when they have a lady drink in front of them. And when they order a tequila you don't get much time for your money. I walked out pronto when my lady drink only excused the girl from dancing for one song.

  Review Oct 2007: Military Precision

The bar seems to be doing well under the watchful eye of the Tina Turner look alike mamasang.

There were a fair few good looking girls both on stage and quickly by your side. In fact the service girls proved very personable and very hands on too.

The bar is still running a policy of excusing girls dancing duty if they have a lady drink in front of them. However with military precision, the moment the last sip is taken, the mamasang appears from her observation post and orders the girl back on stage. She can jump back off stage into your lap immediately the drink is replenished.

As long as you hit it off with the girls that you select (or indeed the girls that select you) then this bar can be very enjoyable.

  Review August 2010: Business as Usual

The bar seems to be marking time nicely perhaps to be ready for a good high season when the perennial visitors will flock back.

The basics of plenty of attractive girls and an efficient staff, along with friendly managers should hold them in good stead.

The drinks prices seem to be creeping up though, but there's a good happy hour and the cheap draft beer is retained for the whole evening.

My main low season gripe is that the show is a bit insipid, especially compared with the 'good old days' a couple of years ago.

But on the whole the bar is pretty much business as usual.

  Review April 2010: Better than Ever

I stopped by at a prime time on a weekday evening and the bar seemed better than ever. I seated my self down on the comfortable bench seating, and before I knew it, a beautiful showgirl was bouncing on my lap. Actually I've know her for a long time so it was hardly an accident.

Whilst I was enjoying myself immensely, I rather think that my good fortune was not exactly perfect for the bar. The reason I say its better than ever, is that it is not quite so jam packed as it was a year ago. Then I would have had to put up with a stool and would have had little chance of finding an unoccupied girl free to lavish such considerate care.

The bar is still doing well though, with a good amount of customers and plenty of girls.

The shows have taken a bit of a strange twist. The popular full-on lesbian shows have been dropped. Replacements seem to be mostly fully clothed affairs. Even more bizarrely, the girls were taking off their clothes just as soon as they de-staged, returning to rejoin their drinking partners in the more traditional gogo attire of very little.

I picked up a little bit of gossip there too. Apparently the managers have been trying to keep a log of girls and their monthlies. Whilst being entirely sympathetic with the umbrage taken by the girls, one has to wonder if perhaps days off weren't being sneaked in a little too often.

Anyway enough of the tittle tattle, there were plenty of other more sensual pleasures awaiting to be enjoyed by the obliging girls.

  Review October 2009: Not So New

The bar has had a little time to settle down after a change of management so time for a quick review.

There have been a few changes to the bar. The unused Jacuzzi has been removed in favour of a small dancing podium. The seats have been reupholstered but in essence the bar looks more or less the same as before.

I also heard that the new owners has dropped the new prefix and refer to the bar as Living Dolls One.

There were the usual extensive team of gogo dancers with about 12 on stage at any one time for a dance roster of 6 songs. There is also a team of showgirls who take to the stage for various lesbian antics and the like. There are plenty of attractive girls on show.

Unsurprisingly the new management have made few changes to the operation of the bar. If anything the bar has improved for me, as a couple of girls bounded over for a bit of good taking care.

I am anticipating a return visit to the bar more than I have for a long time.

After having found a comfortable seat I looked up at the stage to see a dozen good looking girls with few clothes to share between them.

I relaxed to drink my free first beer and all was well.

I glanced round at the bar to find that it was well crowded with appreciative customers enjoying the show.

There are plenty of service girls and there are plenty of managers and owners and the like if you would like a chat.

The drinks are reasonable and the barfines are competitive.

The bar is also a no hassle bar where the girls leave you alone unless called over.

Not really my sort of bar though, the no hassle policy coupled with a high ratio of customers to girls usually ends up in the visit being a lonely drink.

  Review Nov 2008: Too Good

A very popular that always seems pretty full or else totally full. The bar surely must be doing something right.

Maybe this is down to the free beer tickets dished out by the welcome staff. Or maybe it is the reasonable drinks prices once you have finished the freebie. Or maybe it is the cheap barfines to partake in a little later in the evening.

There are plenty of girls to go round with many of them good looking. Also the bar tries to keep hassle down to a minimum. Unfortunately this often means that the girls don't bother you enough even to say hello. No problems if you call them over though.

There are showgirls featuring sexy but not choreographed shows.

Music is strictly selected to keep the dancing girls dancing.

There are plenty of farang managers on hand for those that like to mingle with the barkeeps.

Something good for everyone then...except of course, those that like a quiet drink.

  Review July 2010: Knowing the Ropes

The bar can be a bit of a mixed bag but there is always a chance of hands on fun with a pretty girl.

The bar has a fair few girls for a small bar but there is usually quite a range with some well pretty and some well past it.

There are usually just 3 or 4 dancing girls in the full range of bikini to none. The star turns of the team does a play stage stint at the front of the bar with thwack sticks and the like.

As there are few girls dancing at any one time this leaves a good amount pf girls available for hands on customer care.

There's a cheap 55 Baht draft and lady drinks are ok at 110 Baht.

All seems pretty good in terms of the way the bar operates, but there are a few things more that customers need to know.

Firstly the pretty girls are anchored to the seats around the front door. They are available for hostessing, its just that when they haven't got a customer, they have to sit near the door ready to impress customers who poke their head inside for a look see.

The trick is just to select a seat near the front door so that you are close enough to take a look, and be within smile/signal range to ask a girl over. Sitting at the back of the bar tends to result in the old stagers having first dibs.

The second thing customers need to know is that the girls will prey ruthlessly on any newbies they detect. They can swarm around in seconds.

And one last thing to note is that the bar runs 2 shifts changing at 8pm. Both shifts can have some pretty girls, making the bar well above average for daytime fun. Most other bars seem to have more of a 'second' team on the daytime shift.

The smallest foam Jacuzzi in Pattaya is no longer used. It's a part of the dance stage now.

The problem is that the bar runs out of water. It happens often, there's no water in the toilet or in the kitchen. I'll never order Draught Beer again!

The stage is mow divided into 3, each one is less than 2 meters long. The first stage from the entrance is a play mat where one naked lady is dancing.

The center oval-shape stage is the smallest Jacuzzi in Pattaya. It has almost 6cm high wall. Of course there is no water but just foam and one naked lady is taking a foam bath.

The 3rd stage has 2 poles and 3 dancers.

Bar Fine, dancers are B600 but show girls are B700.

  Review May 2009: Lost Faith

The odds of an enjoyable visit seem to have diminished.

There are some unattractive girls who do the circulating around the customers. There are a few attractive girls but they seem locked to the stools at the door presumably to entice passers by.

The net result is that this has become a bar that does not deliver. And there's plenty of nearby bars that do biz.

If you are lucky enough to get one of the pretty girls at your side, then the bar can be quite hands on.

I think the location is excellent for the bar. It is the first bar in Soi Diamond and you see an avenue of touts ahead of you. It is then so easy to just dart in the first one rather than run the gauntlet of quite hasslesome touts.

The bar probably does a steady trade in people tempted in, but who stay just for one drink.

  Review December 2008: Right or Left?

The girls of New Star A-GoGo vary their short time rates according to which side of the bar you sit on.

On the left the table menus show the all in package as 1950 (600 barfine + 350 room + 1000 short time). On the right hand side the menus show a total of 2450 with the girl's share being 1500 Baht.

Either way it seems very expensive.

The bar has a very mixed selection of girls ranging from very pretty to very not. The prettier girls are anchored to door with an invisible bungy cord. They are employed more to attract passers by than to look after the customers inside.

If you are up to being manhandled by the oldies, the bar can be quite good fun. But I always feel for the unaware newbies who get ruthlessly exploited by the girls given half the chance.

  Review September 2010: Minor Bar

The bar continues its minor bar existence. It is worth the occasional pit stop as it usually has a few attractive girls and can get quite hands on friendly when the mood is right.

There are usually 4 or 5 girls on the main stage and another 2 or 3 dancing on the tables and secondary stage.

One of these is designated as a show girl, partaking in the soapy stage antics. There are no ring side seats so this adds very little to the bar.

The dance roster is a bit too long for a small bar, so I guess if a customer is being looked after by a dancer, "I go dance" often correlates to "check bin".

As mentioned before, there are too many girls dancing on the main stage which offers a good view to only a few seats in the bar. Perhaps the bar could get a few useful tips from a psychologist.

  Review May 2010: Half Full or Half Empty?

The bar has had a reasonable crowd on my last couple of visits with half the seats filled and the bar probably having a full quota of girls.

The girls dance in the full range of gogo attire. The girls are probably an average crew which is pretty good for a small bar.

The arrangement of the bar probably means that half full is about as good as it gets. All the dancing action is confined to the main stage which is only visible for half the bar. The other half have to make do with a lack lustre single girl on the secondary stage. Not really up to much there.

Maybe a redesign of the bar could improve it from its current middling status. After all the location is very good.

  Review July 2009: Low Season

The bar had a low season feel to it with a rather underwhelming urge to entertain.

There were about a dozen girls on duty of which 7 or 8 were dancing. They were doing a 7 or 8 song rotation around all the various dancing stages in the bar. The dress code is ether topless or bikini clad depending on the girl's wishes. The girls were average, which is not to say there weren't a couple of pretty girls.

There is also a single naked girl who was preening herself in a quasi show in the middle of the main stage. She was on for quite a long stint.

As soon as the girls were finishing, they were reaching for dressing gowns and departing out the front door. Either eating or supplementing the welcome staff. Either way there weren't may girls looking after customers in the bar, so it all seemed something of a dead loss to me.

  Review Jan 2009: Unbalanced

Nui's 2 has never been a very successful bar for me and I put a lot of the failings down to the layout of the bar.

There are just a couple of bench seats facing the main stage and these seem to be the only area of the bar where customers get much attention. It is also the only place where you can see the nude showgirl who performs at the centre of the main stage.

The rest of the seating only gets a side view of the main stage and a view of a shuffler or 2 on the secondary stage. Somehow this gives a vibe of 'second best' and I guess that few guys stay long when seated there. And hence they get ignored by the girls.

The girls are not particularly noteworthy but there usually a couple of pretty girls on the evening shift.

The music is strictly for the girls.

Beer price is reasonable at 55 Baht for a small draft beer, but there are no other bargains.

  Review April 2008: Lucky Dip

Very much a lucky dip this bar, but with the odds stacked against wining.

The bar tends to attract below average girls but this does not preclude a few pretty girls in attendance.

There is a fairly long dance rotation with not really much in the way of naughty stuff. Most of the girls are bikini clad but a couple go topless.

Some of the girls provide hands on fun on your lap but most tend to ignore customers.

Newbies should be very wary. Last time I visited, the mamasang was trying to push a very expensive all-in fee on a besotted newbie.

  Review July 2007: Improvements

The bar has added extra dancing stages such that there is always something to look at wherever you are sitting. Previously only a few bench seats overlooking the stage had a good view and the rest had a restricted sideways on view. The previous main stage has been converted to a couple of table dancing stages. In addition two more table dancing stages have appeared along with a small show stage in the middle of the bar.

It certainly brought a bit more life to the bar with plenty going on.

On the downside, the bar has found some very small glasses for the draught beer and the dancing roster is now an overlong 7 songs.

I would have stayed longer but the personable bar lady boy set his sights on me and I prefer to play with the ladies.

  Review August 2010: Room for Improvement

I stopped by at an earlyish hour a few days after the soft opening.

First impressions are that the bar looks the part. It has a central stage with a Jacuzzi extension. There are two tiers of narrow bench seating down the sides of the bar and a couple of bays near the door. The back benches have a few long stretches with no access which will probably be avoided by customers.

The music was at a reasonable volume and included a few rock classics I hadn't heard in a while.

The drinks prices were very reasonable with a 60 baht draft and bottled beer at 85-95 Baht. Nuts were provided too.

So really the basics were in place.

There were a few attractive hostesses in office attire milling round but the bar connections suggested that some of these may be not interested in anything beyond being bought lady drinks. Up to them.

There were 12 dancing girls perhaps a little below average although there were a couple of attractive girls. This actually isn't too bad for a bar starting out. It takes a bar with a decent turnover before the bar can command the better girls.

The dancers were well overdressed though, 11 out of the 12 were closer to coyotes than gogo dancers. The dress code was generally knickers under negligee style shorts and a solid bra. One girl had a flapping open blouse that just about rescued the bar from being re-designated as a coyote bar.  The girls were organised into two shifts of 6 dancers

None of the dancing girls were being friendly with customers after their dance stint.

So for the moment, the bar doesn't really offer much for those that like interactive dancers  nor those like to see their dancers nude. But it looks as if the basics are in place that will probably allow for improvement.

Still there were actually a goodly number of customers stopping buy for a look, but mostly stopping for a quick drink and then off.

I stopped by to find a bar with just three dancers and four customers. I checked the white board and there were no girls marked down as barfined.

They had one girl dancing and that surely makes for a lonely atmosphere. A couple of the other customers seemed to be happy with the situation though, as they had snagged a dancer each.

Me, I was out of there before finishing my beer.

  Review August 2010: August Shutdown

August is holiday month for Parisians and they tend to shoot off to the beach or the country for the month. This leaves the Paris night spots a little bit quiet for the period. And the Pattaya Paris seems to be suffering a similar lack of custom.

I actually popped in a couple of days before the rumours of a sale were reported. And it was deathly quiet. This is particularly bizarre for a bar so well situated a few paces from Walking Street.

The bar doesn't do anything bad as it is tightly run, there are no hassles and no funny business. It is more that the bar doesn't really do anything very positive.

The bar has average girls for Walking Street, and the average is pretty good. But it doesn't have the top notch girls that attract those customers that like to watch top talent.

Many bars don't have the top talent, but can still make a good go of it by deploying interactive girls to go and keep the customers personally entertained. But Paris is sadly lacking in the interactive front too.

And if all else fails bars can always opt for a cheap bar option to attract another sector of the customer base. But Paris doesn't even offer a draft beer. The 90-110 Baht bottled beer is not in itself expensive, but it is poor value indeed, given the low chance of a worthwhile visit.

Surely a change of hands will generate a much needed kick up the butt.

  Review April 2010: Featureless

A tough bar to review as it is pretty featureless.

It has a central stage with about 8 girls dancing a reasonable 4 song roster. The girls are average for Walking Street which ensures a few that are attractive enough. The dress code is mostly topless. About half the girls are dancing which leaves the acceptable minimum for hostess duties.

Offstage the girls are not very pro-active in seeking out a customer to chat to. But if the customers make an effort the girls will oblige.

The drinks are expensive for draft beer drinkers but cheap for bottled beer drinkers (as long as they drink Singha that is). ie there is no draft but bottled Singha is reasonable.

The bar seems well run in terms of lack of niggles and hassles. But surely the bar could be easily improved by getting the girls to be a bit more interactive with the customers.

  Review July 2009: Off chance of entertainment

Another bar that seems to be doing its bets to get by in the down turn by putting its head in the sand and ignoring anyone dropping by on the off chance of entertainment.

The were about 10 girls of which 6 were dancing, the rest were hiding in corners or else more blatantly ignoring customers. The girls were dancing bikini clad but after a while one girl took off her top. For no obvious reason whatsoever apart from the lack of customers, the mamasang told her to cover up.

A bit under whelming at the moment, perhaps it will pick up at the next high season, whenever that is.

  Review Jan 2009: No French Kissing

Paris is a very straightforward gogo which tends to mark time whilst the rest of Pattaya marches on to ever naughtier levels.

The were 6 dancers on the central stage, either topless or bikini clad according the girls wishes. They were an average crew but the average is pretty good on Soi Diamond. There were another 8 girls waiting to dance.

The girls are not very quick to try their luck for a lady drink, but if you make a signal you may be able to attract their attention. I spoke with a girl, and neither she, nor the wait staff were at all pushy. Not really a bar for hands on fun either.

A pleasant enough, well run bar, that still lacks a little innovation.

  Review May 2008: No Can-Can

A predictable single beer visit 6 months on from my previous look see.

As usual there were a few pretty girls, but as usual no one made any efforts to make contact.

The beer was not cheap, as there is no draft, but then again, it is not expensive as there are bottles at 80 Baht.

I was struggling to think of much to say about the bar so I went somewhere else to consider my prose.

The bar needs a little je ne sais quoi. Perhaps a little Can-Can would help.

  Review June 2010: Taking a Break

I find Passion very conveniently located to take a beer after a first pass of Soi 6, and to take a breather whilst deciding what to do next. I especially enjoy the good aircon.

The bar is attractively designed with a fair amount of traditional chrome. There is comfortable bench seating around 3 sides of a square stage.

The bar usually has 4 or 5 dancers on the central stage and the small table stage at the back. The girls are generally topless.

There's usually a fair range of girls with always some being very pretty.

Drinks prices are very reasonable and short time fun is available more at Soi 6 prices than Walking Street levels.

Plenty of hands on fun to be had to encourage the customers a bit.

This side of it has never seemed to work out well for me though. The prettier girls seem to either be a little bit selective, or else seem to shoot outside to act as door candy as soon as their dance stint is up.

But for me its success is being the only place on Soi 6 where one can have a beer in the cool without committing to a lady at the door.

  Review November 2009: First Impressions

They say first impressions count, and mine was to trip up over a not very visible step at the front door.

But once safely inside, things soon looked up. The bar is a little smaller than Betty Boup opposite and is attractively decorated with a chrome thene. It is basically a square with comfortable bench seating around the walls. The square central stage is quite large and is set lower than most. There are stools with backs around the stage.

The music covers a fair range of genres but is basically there to be danced to. It is perhaps a little loud but it is after all, a dance club.

The girls made for a very impressive line up, probably about the best I've seen for an opening day. One of the advantages of running two bars is the flexibility to move girls around as needed.

There were only 2 or 3 girls dancing as most were occupied being hands-on friendly with the customers. Exactly as it ought to be. A quick look at the white board, showing plenty of barfines and the likes, suggest that this approach was working well.

The drinks prices are very customer friendly too.

So a good first impression, apart from the doorstep that is.

When they first announced that Peppermint Palace would be relocating downstairs, owners of one of Pattaya's most popular go-go bars took pains to assure fans the bar would remain the same in both style and size.

It's not, a fact immediately obvious when you step through the door. While it's laid out almost identically – and seats arguably the same number of people – Peppermint has lost that cavernous feel that strikes awe into first-time patrons. Upstairs it was Peppermint. Downstairs they should consider renaming it Junior Mint.

But what Peppermint lost in size, it may have made up for in atmosphere and comfort. A bar that always felt open and even a bit cool now feels noticeably more intimate. Ceilings are lower, tables are closer to the stage and – thankfully – there's much less floor space for dozens of girls to gather, squeal and scramble for ping pong balls.

Design-wise, it's almost as if you're wandering into the alternate universe Peppermint. It looks the same, but with subtle differences. There are now just 2 table dance stations, instead of 4. The stage has the same shape, but is just smaller. The Peppermint Beach sofa seating has moved to the left and The Cage is still there, but is smaller and tucked far back in the corner with less of a view.

Both customers and staff reported that Thursday's grand opening was packed to the rafters. As noted, the bar does seat close to as many people in a more confined space. So crowding – which often was a problem during high season upstairs – now could be a permanent condition when (if?) the tourists return to Pattaya.

Friday, thanks to a torrential downpour, saw the bar back to more customary customer levels for low season and while parts of the bar are indeed narrower than before, the back section of the bar is about the same width and at no point felt claustrophobic.

Peppermint also feels fresher. The barstools were all reupholstered before being taken downstairs and the transplanted tables also got a bit of an upgrade. The stage-side bars are lit and look as if they came from the same supplier as those in Baccara. And the air conditioning is obviously new: Once customers cleared out after 11, it got positively frigid.

The only drawback in the look at this point is the lighting, which uses the same fixtures as in Baccara and The Cavern and makes the bar a bit darker than Peppermint. But management said lighting work is not yet complete and more illumination is being added.

After an extended visit, it was hard to find fault with Peppermint 2.0. The smaller size may end up being a plus, as the upstairs bar has faded in recent years amid tougher competition and smaller tourist crowds. It certainly will draw more trade being on the street level and the cozier confines put customers closer to the action.

  Review June 2010: Sitting Pretty

Peppermint has been around a long time and is one of the proven success stories of Walking Street. And yet I always consider the design/layout to be poor.

The main area of comfortable seating as you first enter the bar has a very restricted view of the entertainment, the majority of which is going on at the back end of the bar.

And in the well entertained back section there is mostly only uncomfortable stool seating that usually drives me out after a single beer.

The theory must be therefore that customers will put up with a bit of discomfort if the girls make it worth their while. And of course Peppermint can command some of the best. Saying that though on my last visit the bar had plentiful good looking girls but maybe not quite the top notch standard needed to make people put up with uncomfortable seats.

This time I opted for the restricted viewing area, and enjoyed the company of a friendly and non-pushy girl over the course of a few reasonably priced drinks. All was well with the world and I wondered if the new downstairs version of Peppermint will have a better seating layout.

  News from Peppermint, January 2010: Re-locating

Lets clear the confusion. Peppermint will not close, in the not too distant future it will be re-located to the ground floor of the marine complex, and something I have always wanted as it will off street access to many new customers. An area has already been allocated and the size will be the same as it is now and the same concept will be used. This will happen sooner than later but will result in no closure of Peppermint.

  Review September 2009: Longer Lasting Mint

I made quite an early evening visit and everything seemed pretty much as it has been for as long as I can remember.

The only change that was immediately apparent was the bar has dispensed with the topless bar idea. I guess it hasn't really made any difference as the bar was at the poorest viewing point of the whole venue.

There are still naked cage dancers, topless gogo dancers, negligee clad side stage dancers and a few table dancers on top.

I got a friendly reception from one of the girls who remembered me from a quick beer at Club Oasis.

The drinks prices are still reasonable and they are still served by male service staff.

But most importantly, there is still a very large contingent of attractive girls.

  Review Feb 2009: A Palace Indeed

Surely a fun palace with lots going. The bar is consistently busy.

There's the main stage with topless girls, a side stage with nearly nude girls and a cage with fully nude girls. And if that isn't enough there's a few table dance podiums and a topless bar. There are always plenty of attractive girls to select from.

The bar is in the mould of Happy, Super Baby and Super Girls in that most customers sit watching, rather than playing, presumably readying  themselves to pick a number and go. But of the quality quartet this bar is the most likely for the girls to try their luck for a lady drink.

Drinks prices are reasonable and this must surely generate some of the return trade. Also the bar does not mess around with a complex barfine structure. It is just a single standard rate.

It is probably the fact that you are not messed around by drinks prices or barfines rather than the actual level that appeals. If you are on a budget you may find the premium rates asked for by the girls is on the high end of the scale, and rather counteracts the advantage of the cheapish drinks.

There's a couple of gripes though, the bar employs toilet jockeys and the majority of the comfortable seating does not command a very good view of the best dance positions. So stool seating is the norm.

  Review April 2009: Playaway

The bar targets Asians and East Europeans with a mix of gogo and unerotic shows with darts and whistles etc.

There are no welcome signs suggesting prices as no doubt there is a cover charge including first drink for some whilst farangs breeze in unmolested for the normal pay as you go price structure. The draft beer was reasonable at 65 Baht.

The bar is narrow with central stages, two dancing stages and a Jacuzzi. The naked girl was soaping herself throughout and the dancers were bikini clad.

The girls were friendly enough and would pop over to inquire of your birthplace. But they weren't hasslesome if you preferred to be left alone.

In fact a perfectly decent sort of small bar with many of the usual gogo entertainments.

There was one tiny little almost insignificant problem though...the girls were well below Walking Street average.

  Review Sept 2008: Pleasantly Surprised

I was rather suspecting a bar that was a bit more hardened to fleecing the bells and whistles crowd but the bar was not such a lost cause.

The steep steps up to the first floor bar wouldn't survive health and safety rules in Farangland. They are pretty unattractive as aesthetically too.

But inside the bar is bright and attractive along similar lines to Airport below.

There are 3 stages, 1 is for gogo, the other alternates between gogo and bells and whistles shows for the tourists. In the centre is a Jacuzzi complete with a a suitably soapy girl. There are no seats near, so no chance of any hands on fun.

All drinks prices are reasonable and the standard for the Nui's group bars. So no premium to watch a show you didn't want to see in the first place.

The gogo girls were a little reluctant to take their tops off and there are none of the the cuties that are reserved for downstairs duty at Airport Club.

I spoke to a couple of the dancing girls and it made for a very pleasant couple of drinks. They were not pushy and were charming hostesses with plenty of tales from a longish gogo careers.

The service was also good.

  Review August 2010: Still Lacking Powers of Attraction

I stopped by during happy hour but the bar was pretty underwhelming with probably a dozen dancers and a couple of hostesses. There were more coyote dancers than girls in bikinis or less, which sounds off a few danger bells.

One of the hostesses was friendly enough to stop by for a chat and she told me that the bar has a late night life, more as club than a GoGo. She suggested it is best to come back at 2am.

But really nothing much doing to keep early birds in the bar. So the GoGo seems doomed to be one on the circuit of bars destined for a single beer.

  Review April 2010: Lacking Powers of Attraction

After a few weeks I thought it time to see how Powers Club are doing.

The good news was that draft beer has dropped from 90 Baht to 60 Baht. Probably not good news for the bar though, as it rather suggests they may be struggling to get customers up the stairs.

The other good news is that the bar has a few very attractive dancers indeed.

The not so good news is that coyote dancers have taken over at the dance stages just in front of the bench seating.

I always think that coyotes dancers in a gogo are a turnoff. Not just because of the lack of nudity but also I have a pet theory that a reluctance to take off clothes correlates to a reluctance to partake in all the naughty gogo stuff that makes a bar fun.

And indeed there didn't seem to be much fun going down at Powers Club during my visit.

Perhaps the bar would do a little better by putting the nude gogo dancers on the front stage by the customers and relegate the boring coyotes to the distant main stage.

Oh and of course remind the girls that the prime recipe for success in a GoGo is interaction, interaction and interaction.

  Review March 2010: Window Shopping

The first thing that struck me about this bar is that it has something of an image/pricing/psychology problem...and that was before I had even set foot in the door.

I really was a bit concerned that it would prove to be a rip off bar where tips are demanded with menaces. The totally misplaced concern is down to the coyote dancers in an upstairs window catching the eye of passing gawpers on Walking Street. All 3 of the other bars that offer such windows are extortionately expensive, so it surely sets the alarm bells ringing.

The bar rather compounds this issue by having a high end draft beer price of 90 Baht. Now it is a rather useful Pattaya convention that the bars with the high beer prices don't advertise it on their welcome signs (eg Showcase, Dolls House, What's Up and Silver Star 3).  And indeed Powers Club is suitably embarrassed into not putting the beer price on their welcome signs.

So an upstairs coyote window with no re-assuring beer prices certainly make the bar a risky proposition to enter. It could turn out to have expensive drinks and/or feature over dressed coyote dancers.

But actually once inside the bar, it is a perfectly typical GoGo with most things in line with the usual things you would expect in a GoGo. The only other price I came across was a lady drink at a very typical 120 Baht.

The bar is actually very large, perhaps a bit too large, it seemed a little decoratively empty. There are several stages with one being the main stage with several girls dancing and the small stages with one girl dancing, plenty of room for more.

The girls were quite an attractive crew, especially for the notoriously difficult opening days. They were dancing in the full range of attire, from very little to bikinis. They still manage a uniform of sorts though, with black and white checked stockings.

The music is of the rather loud dance variety.

I recognised a few faces previously from Club Boesche, and one such girl proved to be a friendly drinking partner. So it made for a good first visit.

But really, an upstairs bar with coyotes in the window really needs a reassuring friendly beer price to get people upstairs to take a look.

  Review by Rick G, March 2010: Draught Free

There's an upper window where a couple of coyote dancers provide some entertainment to passers by on Walking Street.

There's a long stair case to the upper floor and there's a pool table at the top of the stairs. The main bar area is a large room that has several small stages. There is comfortable white leather seating, some bar stools and a collection of girls that looked a little disappointing. Surprisingly, there's nowhere to put your drink next to the sofas.

My request for a draught beer seemed to cause some confusion. The first girl didn't understand what I had asked for, so a second girl came over and took my order. She returned a moment later, to tell me they had run out of draught beer.

I will return in a week or two. Hopefully, the staff are more organised by that stage.

  News March 2009: Bells & Whistles Shows

Rocket A-GoGo upstairs on Soi Diamond seems to have taken a change of direction. The previous manager Kuhn Artit has moved on to Gamebird 2 on Soi 15. The bar has now become a bells and whistles show targeting Asians and East European couples.

The welcome staff signs for cheap drinks have vanished so presumably the drinks prices have inflated somewhat. Draft beer is 110 Baht and bottled beers are 130 Baht.

The bar seemed to have more customers than in its previous incarnation so must be doing something right.

I found a new place for me, Rocket GoGo.

Seated beside the jacuzzi I found two pretty girls and I could play with them too. Very friendly and the service staff were nice to me - an old man from Europe.

  Review Sept 2008: One Fatal Flaw

There are many good things to say about the bar, particularly for a Thai run bar.

Drinks prices are good and there is a little hassle from the girls or staff. All the usual gogo entertainments are there including the almost inevitable Jacuzzi.

There seems just one thing missing, pretty girls!

Getting customers to upstairs bars is always difficult but its seems that getting the girls to climb the stairs is nigh on impossible.

Access: They have chopped off the last few yards of the beer bar below to make an entrance lobby. Go upstairs (usual steep thai steps). The gogo is on the first landing. If you go further up, you could find the room(s) for gogo girls that are too tired and need to take a rest...

The Bar: Nicely laid out with good bench seats round the edge and tables with chairs. About 8 girls on stages, while two girls were washing in the Jacuzzi. Appears the changing rooms must be small, so they had to wash in public!

Drink prices were sensible and sticky signs round the top of the mirrored walls with the "price list". Draught Chang was 55 Baht.

Smokers: They have realised bout the new No Smoking Ban and have converted one of the men's toilet cubicles into a Smoking Room (or so the sign on the door says).--- quick thinking that! Well done, even though I am not a smoker.

Yes, I will go back and give it another go. May not be many girls there yet, but some friendly and I am willing to follow up their approaches... I think the BF was 600 Baht, which is pretty standard these days. Did not have the time to find of what the girls wanted... Most seem fresh from the countryside, or so their dancing skills told me (I was taught about reading dance skills a long time ago from an ex-gogo girl in Bangkok).

  Review from Bob, Feb 2008: More of the Usual

Entrance is narrow staircase right before Paris a Go Go. The, what has become usual, interior for new go go's - stage for 4-6 girls, jacuzzi, comfortable seats, etc., etc., etc.

Line up was less then spectacular.

You really have to question the wisdom of someone opening a new go go on the second floor as the season winds down. Even many of the ground floor go go's can barely get more then a handful of customers these days.

Not yet worth the climb up the steps.

  Review March 2010: Novice Cowgirls

I caught this bar soon a after a low key re-opening. Hopefully they have started on the learning curve, because it looked dauntingly step from my visit.

I guessed that the only experience they had in running a gogo bar was a visit to Happy A-GoGo. Just put some dancing girls on a stage and the customers will roll in.

The bar had six girls in the bar when I arrived, and 5 of them were set to dancing. To be fair, there were a couple of decent looking girls, but they were a bit overdressed in bikinis.

I don't see much point in going to a bar to watch average bikini clad girls without any chance of interaction whatsoever. A lady drink is no ticket to a break in the girls continuous dancing either.

A cute and young tomboyish girl seemed to be in charge at the time, but hopefully there is someone a bit more experienced behind the scenes.

Perhaps a play on the reality agent rule number one, may be helpful to this bar (and a fair few other bars too!):

The three main contributions to a successful GoGo bar are interaction, interaction and interaction.

  Review July 2009: Uninteractive

The small bar is one of the least interactive bars in town. I really can't figure out how the bar works at all. Presumably it is based on Superbaby or similar where the customers call the mamasang over and ask for the girls by number.

Meanwhile all the customers are expected to be entertained by the shuffling beauties. Rodeo has actually got some good looking girls amongst the 7 that were on duty when I visited. But they are not really quite the top notch required to get customers drooling just from watching bikini clad dancers.

There were also more than half of the girls dancing. They would end their stint, go to the toilet, adjust their make up and it was time to dance again.

Not really my sort of place at all.

  Review August 2010: Strong Showing

For those that like a bit of a show, then Roxy is one of the best on Walking Street. It features very attractive girls, a generally fun atmosphere and also a cheap beer option.

In fact a few months ago it was also starting to capture a share of the market of those customers who prefer to interact with the girls. I may have been unlucky on my last couple of visits, but there were few girls on hostess duties whilst the stage was packed with dancers. A late night visit had to be a quick U turn as every single available girl was set to dancing with none to take care of customers.

But returning to those that like the show, then the bar offers alternate shifts of a stage packed with lively dancers and then show girls in a choreographed erotic presentation. Not quite as professional as Angelwitch, but not bad. Not quite as naughty as certain 'specialist' bars, but not bad.

Male service staff is a bit of a downer though.

There are also many attractive welcome girls that can be enticed in, but the lady drinks have to flow freely otherwise they soon have to depart back to welcome duty.

With Polo closed as a show bar and with Angelwitch developing something of a reputation for hassle, then surely Roxy has a good chance to capture some of the trade for shows.

The bar has a much friendlier drinks price policy than Angelwitch and there are plenty of good looking girls participating in the shows.

Perhaps the shows are a little less impressive but the more easy going bar atmosphere makes up for the difference.

Hopefully the bar can therefore attract a few more show going customers. But it is not really the sort of bar for customers seeking company, the girls don't generally circulate the bar in search of lady drinks and the likes.

A pleasant bar in which to stop off for a Chang beer which is on permanent promotion at a very good price.

You will be treated to a good erotic show with some good looking girls. If you catch the gogo shift then you will also find a stage full of good looking dancers too.

Thinking about it, they have some good looking welcome girls too.
