31st July   A New Vintage...

Champagne motifRenovations at Champagne A-GoGo

From Pattaya Secrets

Champagne A-GoGo on Soi LK Metro is currently under renovation and should be even better when complete.

There will then be a few extras such as a shower show, a private room with a Jacuzzi and a few more special features.

30th July   Happy Not So Happy...

Peppermint Palace in neonHappy hour draught dropped at Peppermint and Happy

I didn't really notice when it happened but Peppermint, Happy and probably Beach Club have dropped their happy hour offers on draught beer.

Their draught beer is now 55 Baht all night including happy hour. There is still a happy hour on many drinks of 50 Baht but if you scan the list shown by the hello girls carefully draught beer is no longer there. And the 55 Baht is not a mega bargain anyway as the glasses aren't so large.

The long list of 50 Baht drinks without highlighting the absence of draught beer does seem  little sneaky.

29th July   Plug Pulled...

Club Electric Blue JrClub Electric Blue Jnr goes dark

I spotted one of the stalwarts of Club Electric Blue Jnr dancing at Baby Dolls.

And sure enough, as I walked past Electric Blue in Soi Diamond it was closed.

Pattaya is now down to 73 GoGos currently operating.

29th July   Fun in the Afternoon...

TQ 2 bar signTahitian Queen 2 to open afternoons

From Tahitian Queen 2

From Tuesday August 1st, Tahitian Queen 2 in Walking Street: Soi BJ will be opening from 2pm.

They promise new girls, shows, rocking music and a hassle free environment.

In fact having shows in the afternoon would be unique in Pattaya as far as I know.

28th July   Drying Up...

Wet N Wild signWet 'n' Wild A-GoGo to close

Thanks to Ray

Dropped in to Wet 'n' Wild last night, just a handful of customers and a bit of a gloomy atmosphere.

It turns out the girls have been told the bar will close next month. I tried to get an exact date but they didn't seem to have one.

28th July   Dreamier...

Dream Teen MassageUpdates at Dream Teen Massage

From Dream Teen Massage

The customer lounge has been enlarged and completely re-decorated. We have also done up all our rooms which now all feature designer wall-paper, some are fitted with wall mirrors. The VIP room now looks like a real Oriental boudoir.

The website at www.dream-teen.net has been upgraded to show off the new facilities.

We currently have 16 girls working in our shop; some young, some not so young; some small and some not so small.

We have lowered our prices for the low season and 1 hour of oil or lotion massage, including balls massage, is now available at 400 baht.

27th July   Improvements...

Nui's 2 frontNui's Club 2 renovated

The bar has added extra dancing stages such that there is always something to look at wherever you are sitting. Previously only a few bench seats overlooking the stage had a good view and the rest had a restricted sideways on view. The previous main stage has been converted to a couple of table dancing stages. In addition two more table dancing stages have appeared along with a small show stage in the middle of the bar.

It certainly brought a bit more life to the bar with plenty going on.

On the downside, the bar has found some very small glasses for the draught beer and the dancing roster is now an overlong 7 songs.

I would have stayed longer but the personable bar lady boy set his sights on me and I prefer to play with the ladies.

27th July  Giving Up Beer for Lent...

no drinks signSunday and Monday are dry days

Official announcements are never expected until a day or two before dry days. Perhaps the unlikely short notice is designed to minimise tourists switching to more fun locations.

However it is now confirmed that the two important Buddhist days: Asanha Bucha Day on Sunday July 29th and Buddhist Lent Day on Monday July 30th will both be dry. July 31st is also a public holiday in lieu of the Buddhist day falling on the weekend but bars will be open on that day.

No doubt there will be a few beer bars that will continue to sell albeit a little more discreetly but the indoor bars and gogos will be solidly closed (at least for the first night)

There is an referendum about the proposed constitution on August 19th and this may well be a dry day. The bars close at 6pm on the night before, ie August 18th. However there is hope on the horizon. Down in Phuket bars were recently allowed to open during an election as long as they were located within Phuket's Entertainment Zone.

26th July   The Poles are Coming...

Soi6 signA new GoGo is taking shape on Soi 6

Thanks to Paul

The old E&T bar at the 2nd Road end of Soi 6 seems to be taking shape as a GoGo bar. The builders have been at work for sometime and now a stage with dancing poles has appeared.

The bar will be known as Barely Legal named after an American adult magazine.

Also down at the middle of Soi 6, A Hole in One bar has just it's official opening party. This bar replaces the Blue Hawaii Pub.

25th July   69 Closures...

Club 69Sakura Club 69 Closed

The re-opening of Baby Dolls A-GoGo on Soi 15 off Walking Street was a little lacking in both girls and customers.

It looks like the management of the two gogos has decided to concentrate on just one out of the two next door bars. Sakura Cub 69 was closed last night, presumably temporarily

24th July   Dark Star...

Hollywood neonHollywood Discotheque Closes

From Pattaya at Night

Hollywood Disco was an 'institution' in Pattaya, but its lease expired, therefore the disco had to close. New buildings are already appearing on the site.

It is expected to reopen later this year as New Hollywood on Soi Phet Trakun in North Pattaya.

The Ibiza disco on Pratamnak Road also seems to have closed recently.

23rd July   Music or just a Racket...

Pattaya City HallBar owners submit petition about unfair music licence practices

From Pattaya Daily News

Beer Bar owners get together to submit petition to Pattaya City about being charged for music licence fee by more than ten music companies. Each time they were threatened for big amount of money and not sure if it was paid to the right people.

On the 20 July 2007, a group of beer bar owners met with Ronagit Akasing, Deputy of Pattaya City, to submit a petition about the case of being charged with a big amount of money for music licence fee by more than ten music companies. The petition will be forwarded to Niran Watanasartsathorn, Pattaya Mayor for consideration.

For the moment, all of bar owners have to pay for music licence fee in a big amount, also be afraid of being caught of playing music with no licence. One of the bar owners said that he has had a beer bar for more than 4 years, and had only little problem from time to time. But lately, he has the big problem of having to pay a lot of money for the music licence, He also wonders about the one who collected music licence fee is a person from music companies or police. Each time he was threatened for big amount of money without giving any information about the music licence law.

22nd July   Nui's Back...

Nui's 2 frontNui's Club 2 re-opens

Nui's Club 2 has re-opened on Walking Street after extensive renovation.

There are now 75 operating bars listed as GoGos and 3 more due back online soon.

21st July  The Usual Suspects...

A police round up on Beach Road

From Pattaya City News

Police Lieutenant Colonel Suwan, the Chief of Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division led an operation on Pattaya Beach on Thursday Night to clear the entire stretch of the promenade of suspected prostitutes.

Over 50 Tourist Police Officers and Volunteers took part in the operation which concluded at the Tourist Police Mobile Unit on Walking Street where 55 people were processed and later sent to Pattaya City Hall to pay fines.

Offences committed by the 33 women and 22 men consisted of suspected prostitution and not carrying an ID card, which is an offence here in Thailand.

We understand that similar operations will take place on a regular basis as the new Tourist Police Chief is determined to rid the streets of individuals who break the law.

19th July  Bars, Licensing and Police...

Living Dolls 1 signMeeting at City Hall

There is a meeting at city hall tomorrow for all bar owners. The main topic of discussion will be the licensing laws and police powers.

The Mayor and the chief of police will be in attendance

The meeting will be held in room 401 @ 2pm meeting starts @ 2 30pm on the 20th July

There will be a translator in attendance for all the farang bar owners.

And speaking of police powers, there's a rumour on the street that New Living Dolls One is closed for 30/60 days by order of the authorities.

Some of the girls from New Living Dolls One have been spotted in Champion, Baby Dolls & Sweethearts

19th July  Baby Bath...

Baby Doll posterBaby Dolls now with Jacuzzi

Baby Dolls just off Walking Street on Soi 15 has now re-opened after substantial renovation.

The bar is now nicely kitted out in the style of Windmill and Sakura Club 69 only in a large blue variant.

There is now a central stage surround by stools. Comfortable seating is arranged down the walls with small table dancing platforms just in front. There is a side stage featuring a continuous lesbian show and there is also a continuous Jacuzzi show.

All the elements are in place, so the bar just need to rope in a few more girls and a few more customers.

18th July   All Gone...

All Girls neonAll Girls A-GoGo closes on Soi Pattayaland

From eyebee

All Girls on Soi Pattayaland 2 has closed down.

It is understood that the building has been bought by the owners of the Gem shop on the corner of the soi, so it's unlikely that it will reopen as a go-go.

Another gogo that few Pattaya regulars will miss.

So there are only 4 girl go-gos left on that soi now. That leaves 74 gogos operating and 4 more expected to return at some stage.

18th July   Firing Up...

Blind BeggarWinchester Club Re-opens

Winchester Club used to be a notable daytime bar in South Jomtien specialising in short times and a free Sunday BBQ.

The bar renamed as The Blind Beggar but eventually it went downhill and closed earlier this year.

However the bar has now been refurbished and it has re-opened with the original name, Winchester Club.

17th July   Very Happy Hour...

Living Dolls ShowcaseHappy hour at Living Dolls Showcase

From Living Dolls Showcase, July 2007:

Living Dolls Showcase has embarked on a summer activity programme that gives you the cheapest happy hours in Pattaya.

From Monday 16th July our first ever happy hours are from 8pm to 10pm with draught beer and well drinks at 30 baht. Short time bar fines are 400b from 8pm to midnight and we will commence a number of our shows from 8.30pm.

We have some great new girls who along with our established stars look forward to giving you a great welcome and a fabulous time.

17th July   Hiding...

Voodoo neon signDancing girls hiding behind clothes in a gogo hiding behind bars

Thanks to eyebee

There is a new gogo that has been hiding away on Walking Street. Voodoo is at the back of the new group of bars near the Beach Road end of Walking Street.

There is a huge sign outside saying Voodoo, and there are girls outside with boards advertising it. But nowhere does it say that there is a go-go inside - I always assumed that they were referring to the group of bars.

Very few customers as you'd expect, and a mixture of girls: some coyote and some go-go. There are table-dance tables and one small stage that wasn't in use while I was there. The go-go girls were very overdressed in shirts and skirts, and not many lookers. I was told that they occasionally have shows, but I didn't want to wait around for one.

No draught beer and the bottles were around 110 baht - lady drinks about the same.

I can't see this bar taking off due to no-one knowing it's there, the overdressed nature of the girls, no cheap beer and lack of atmosphere. The bar itself is quite well-designed, though.

The list of gogos now stands at 75 excluding New Living Dolls One which is expected to re-open tonight...maybe.

16th July  Coyotee Dancing...

Coyotee's frontageAnniversary dance competition at Coyotee's

From Stickman

On Monday, July 23, Coyotes will be holding its 2nd Anniversary & Dance Competition Party. This is the biggest night of the year for Coyotes, and all are welcome to drop by for free food, prizes and fun galore.

Dancers for the dance competition will be coming from Long Gun & Rawhide in Bangkok & from TQ2 in Pattaya. There will be other bars participating as well.

Coyotes is located in right off Walking Street in Soi Marine Plaza (Soi Lucky Star off Walking Street).

16th July  My Baby's Come Back...

Baby Doll posterBaby Dolls set to re-open

Baby Dolls A-GoGo on Soi 15 off Walking Street is set to return. The re-opening was due last night but it didn't look very open.

The bar has been renovated and promises plenty of new features.

It will be one of 74 operating GoGos listed on this site.

Note that New Living Dolls One is still dark. No comments have been received about its extended leave of absence.

15th July  Dry Summer...

no drinks signDry days on the horizon

Official announcements are never expected until a day or two before dry days. Perhaps the unlikely short notice is designed to minimise tourists switching to more fun locations.

However the usual pattern of closures is that the two important Buddhist days: Asanha Bucha Day on July 29th and Buddhist Lent Day on July 30th will both be dry. July 31st is also a public holiday in lieu of the Buddhist day falling on the weekend. Bars will surely be open on this day.

The Queen's birthday is on August 12th with the 13th being a public holiday in lieu. A couple of years ago royal birthdays were declared dry but now they are seen more as celebration than sober respect so hopefully the bars will again be open.

There is an election on August 19th and this will be a dry day. The bars will actually close at 6pm on the night before, ie August 18th.

14th July   Pattaya Entertainment Zone...

Walking Street ArchOfficial map available

Seems a bit worrying for businesses in the Soi Buakhao area

From a Pattaya Expats' Club thanks to Basil

As usual, there was a large turnout to hear our featured speaker Drew Noyes. Drew’s company, PAPPA Company Limited, has been involved in developing "official" maps of Pattaya and portions of Banglamung.

The Police & Surveillance Edition, which his company was commissioned by the Pattaya Police and the Command and Control Center at Pattaya City Hall will incorporate the designation of an official Entertainment Zone. There will also be a Tourist Edition and a Pattaya Resident Edition.

Drew distributed to the members the first completed and printed map, which shows the Entertainment Zone (EZ) for Pattaya. The EZ is clearly shown from the end of Walking Street extending North up Beach Road and East on Pattaya Nua to the Dolphin Roundabout and then going South on Second Road continuing past South Road (becomes Pratamnak Road) to the Third Road flyover then West to intersect with Walking Street at Bali Hai Pier.

Drew explained that new licenses for places considered to be adult-oriented entertainment establishments would only be issued within the designated EZ. He noted that businesses outside the EZ with existing Entertainment License can continue to renew those licenses so long as they are under the same ownership or are renewed by children of the original license holder.

Drew mentioned that some individuals, unaware of the current restrictions, had lost their investment of millions of baht because after purchasing an existing entertainment venue outside the EZ they discovered they could not get the necessary entertainment license to continue operations.

Businesses considered to be entertainment oriented are beer bars (with host or hostesses), go-go bars, massage parlors, and karaoke bars.

The EZ maps are free. They are being distributed by the Tourist Police on Walking Street and are also available at the second floor above Tops Supermarket on Pattaya Klang.

Update: Soi Buakhao

Thanks to eyebee

A contributor on Pattaya Secrets said that he has the map and that Soi Buakhao is actually within the Entertainment Zone. The zone is bounded by Beach Road, Pattaya Nua (North Road) and 3rd Road swinging around to Bali Hai Pier, south of Walking Street.

14th July   Nice 'n Eazy GoGo Goes Beer Bar...

Nice 'n Eazy bar signConversion from GoGo to beer bar

The Nice 'n Eazy gogo on Soi Yamato has converted into a beer bar. It is now an open front shop house bar nicely decorated in white.

The bar is still named Nice 'n Eazy and retains the existing sign.

There were even a few customer drinking as I walked past suggesting a big improvement on the previous guise.

The operating gogo list now stands at 73 with New Living Dolls expected back soon along with 4 other bars currently being renovated.

10th July   Comings and Goings...

Soi6 signBar openings and closings

On Walking Street, the old Pizza Bar by the Walking Street tree has re-opened a Coleen's bar.

The low key opening of the plush bar, V.nus (Venus) on Soi 15 has again come to an end.

It will be renovated and completely changed and it is hoped that it will open in early September. Ricky will be giving up his services in FLB Bar at the end of July.

8th July   Police Not My Friend You...

My Friend You barfrontagePolice continue their raiding spree

Based on an article from Pattaya City News

Regular police inspections of the bars around Pattaya are being made. Licenses are being checked which includes Music Copyright licenses and bars that are found not to comply with regulations are facing lengthy closures and in some cases they have been closed down permanently.

Friday's raiding party was formed by the Women and Child Protection Unit, Banglamung District Licensing and Pattaya Police.

On this occasion they went to beer bars and enclosed bars located in the Central Pattaya area including Soi Yodsak. Licensing irregularities were found and reports will be made to the Governor of Chonburi who is ultimately responsible for approving entertainment and liquor licenses..

7th July   Walking Street Closed for Renovation...

Nui's 2 frontNui's Club 2 joins the closure list

The list of operating gogos has decreased to 74 with the temporary closure of Nui's Club 2 in Walking Street. A sign on the front promises that the bar will open again soon. The are now 5 bars noted as closed for renovation.

New Living Dolls One was also closed last night. I haven't heard why as yet.

Goldfingers has also been removed from the list as it is now reported as fully changed to a lady boy A-GoGo.

Update: New Living Dolls One Closed

For licensing reasons and/or the owner's wedding, New Livings Dolls One will be closed until Wednesday 11th July

3rd July   Unlucky Dice...

Star Dice entranceStar Dice suffers police raid

From Pattaya City News

Police raided the Dice Pub in Naklua on Friday Night. The raid involved checks on ID Cards to ensure that all patrons were over the legal age of 20. Piss tests were conducted on a random group of customers and staff.

It was found the venue was not operating under a valid entertainment license. 12 customers failed urine tests confirming the presence of met-amphetamine in their systems, 12 people were found not to be carrying ID cards, and one customer was under the age of 20.

The arrested individuals were taken to Pattaya Police Station for processing and a report of the nights raid will now be sent to the Governor of Chonburi who may decide to close the venue on a temporary or permanent basis.

Tiger Club neonCoyote dancing on Soi BJ

From Pattaya Secrets

...No not a blow job bar, but a coyote dancing bar. A new bar has opened on Soi BJ off Walking Street.

BJ Club is at the ground floor of the Jasmin Hotel and used to be a Mexican Restaurant. The decor is Bali style and there is a small stage for coyote dancing. There are 2 dancers on the stage at a time.

Tiger draft is 55 Baht.

Meanwhile Tiger Club A-GoGo, upstairs on Soi Diamond, has closed for renovation. This reduces the operating gogo count to 76 (with 4 more closed for renovation)
