Dirty Dancing Sundays were the first of the dance contests to have taken place in Pattaya. Introduced and arranged by the Dollhouse around five years ago, incorporating a number of bars on a weekly basis it was a 'must see' attraction entertaining full house signs at every venue, every time.

The Dollhouse in co-operation with three other bars is to resurrect this fantastic event incorporating 20 of the sexiest girls in Pattaya on Sunday 8th October 9 pm to midnight and we promise a fantastic show with 30,000 baht prize money to ensure that all the contestants are suitably motivated. A full house is expected so come early to ensure prime seats.

September 25th saw the soft opening; official opening will be on Oct 1st. Located on Soi Buakhao, a few hundred meters north of So. Pattaya Rd.

A smaller go-go with five dance areas: 3-small plus 2-stages, one accommodating a 2-gal nude shower show. Comfortable bench seating along the wall and stools around the stages. Decent lighting over the dance areas; unobtrusive elsewhere. A few real knockout cuties and a few lesser so.. The gals do interact with the customers. No push for drinks was apparent!. Music was primarily older rock and the owners (2-farangs) do try to keep their DJ from letting the volume become overbearing unlike too many go-gos, IMHO.

Drink prices: Heineken draft -50, mixed -100, gin/whiskey/vodka -100, Call drinks (JD, Chevas, etc) - 120, Breezer -120, Spy -90, Shots- (tequila, B52, Sambuca) -100.

Lady Drinks - 95, L/T BF - 550, and S/T rooms (in an adjacent building) which are 500 w/ AC and 300 w/ fan. Note: the S/T room price includes the BF.

The owners plan to open 2 more clubs in the immediate Soi Buakhao area sometime in December. Stay tuned....

The soft opening has been set for Monday 25th September, Official opening will be on October 1st.

The new gogo is located towards the southern end of Soi Buakhao. Perhaps 200m from Tuk Com on Pattaya Thai.

I passed by the new GoGo at Betty Boup on Soi 6 . It was a hive of building activity. They are also targeting a 1st October opening.

Carousel are planning an anniversary party on October 1st too.

There is also a vague rumour of plans for another GoGo on Soi LK Metro where the Cock & Bull bar is at the moment.

The promised beach clean-up program which has been jointly implemented by Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division, Pattaya City Hall and Pattaya Police has started.

A group of Tourist Police Volunteers on Walking Street demonstrated to the ladyboys and women who frequent the beach to pursue anti-social activities that they will not be permitted to use the beach area from now on.

On this night a total 20 Ladyboys and 2 women were detained and transferred to Pattaya Police Station for processing.

Betty Boup bar towards the beach end of Soi 6 is being fitted out as a full gogo.

An October 1st opening is planned.

A combination of GoGo and Soi 6 raunch always seems a good idea to me. Kiss Kool makes a good stab at the concept but I have never really got on with the others, ie Pook and Mandarin.

Bentley's no longer has dancing girls. It is simply a pool hall now.

The bar had started with both gogo girls and pool tables in October 2005. Presumably the pool proved more popular than the gogo.

Adverts have been spotted in Tukcom and also in Naklua offering to set up surveillance using webcams and mobile phones.

The service is being targeted for Thai ladies to keep on eye on their husband, boyfriend and kids etc.

So perhaps those that use have fun in their own house or office should conduct a bug sweep. Perhaps another opportunity for the same companies that provide the surveillance systems.

A new bar presumably with the same Thai connections as Silver Star A-GoGo in Soi 8 has opened bearing the same name.

The bar is very close to the Beach Road end of Walking Street and is set back from the street with acces via a long corridor.

I'm always happy to pop in to see a new gogo but this one proved a lot more familiar than expected.

I was greeted by the mamasang previously working at Champagne. She had brought 14 girls with her including my fave. I rather think that connections at Champagne must be hopping mad.

The familiar looking decor was apparently inspired (or even ripped off) from Club Boesché. But nevertheless it looks attractive. There is a off centre stage featuring about 10 dancing girls. They range from bikini clad to nude. Cast one's eyes upwards for the glass ceiling and a glimpse of the nude dancing girls above. (I didn't investigate upstairs on this visit though).

Another homage to Boesché is the now inevitable Jacuzzi but this was not being used during my 9-10pm visit.

I didn't spot any seating except stools but I didn't look everywhere.

The bar was well stocked with girls and the Mamasang told me that 42 were on duty. There were plenty of attractive girls on the dance floor but there were also a fair amount of  hostesses in attendance.

The drinks are at the top end of gogo prices with no draught and bottled beer at 110 Baht. There is added value though, numbers permitting, your selected girl is excused dancing duties whilst she has a lady drink in front of her.

My ex-Champagne fave was very touchy feely and I had a very enjoyable session in the bar.

I rather suspect that bar will have to be pretty naughty to maintain both the number of girls and relatively high drinks prices, but I shall certainly give it another to go to see how they are faring.

A win-win situation. If the beach is cleared of prostitution then no farangs will go there to get mugged in the first place. I just hope that they don't simply displace the ladyboy muggers into the areas that I frequent at night.

Police Captain Chirawat from Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division confirmed that a core group of 50 Tourist Police Volunteers will work on a rotation and security will be provided every night on Pattaya Beach until dawn. The Tourist Police will also work to clear the prostitutes from Beach Road and will fine anyone accused of conducting solicitation on the beach.

Possibly the longest-running Sierra Tango boozer in Fun Town, the King Kong bar in Soi 6 is up for sale.

I'm led to believe it's been under the same ownership for 20 years and the woman who holds the keys wants five million baht.

Broadway has sprung back to life. I think they had a few welcome staff on Waking Street too but they weren't being very obvious what they were touting for.

I was told at the door that it is still a show bar but my wallet was a little light so I continued on my way.

Lloydie has made many friends via his previous enterprise, the beer bar Lloydie's in the same Soi, so the latest bar should be well worth a visit.

Bar San Miguel will be opening the doors on Monday September 11th at 12noon. The bar is located in Soi LK Metro by Champagne A-GoGo

You can expect.... cold, reasonable priced beer, relaxed surroundings, friendly "ex soi6" staff, UBC/Sophon for live sports, good music and short time extras!

Sounds like there will be fun in the bar but new clean rooms are available too.

There is to be another shot at opening a bar at the Soi BJ venue previously hosting Las Vegas Club and then Broadway Club. Signs have now appeared advertising for staff.

Hopefully the new management will be considering a more attractive policy on drinks pricing. Perhaps they may also consider some signage/welcome staff situated on Walking Street just a few metres away.

Beach security discussed at Pattaya City Hall meeting.

The Mayor of Pattaya met with the Chief of Pattaya’s Tourist Police Division and the Deputy Chief of Pattaya Police to discuss the Mayor’s concerns over the state of Pattaya Beach late at night.

The Mayor suggested that beach crime had substantially increased and blamed the reduced tourist numbers this year on the poor state of the beach which is used by prostitutes and petty criminals who will take advantage of the poor lighting on the beach to conduct anti-social activities.

The Mayor would now like Pattaya Police along with the Tourist Police to conduct nightly patrols along the beach until day-break to ensure that crime and prostitution are eradicated.

The Late August is the time every year when the principal businesses of Soi 6 (ie short time bars), gather together to pray for good luck and business success.

Win Wattanaleurhirat, chairman of the street committee, explained that the event had now become an annual ritual and brought a sense of community to the street which is lined with bars and night spots.

Nine monks were on hand to officiate and holy water was sprinkled in the ceremony. Several bar owners said business had not been brisk of late so any move to encourage good luck and a higher turnover of business was certainly to be welcomed.

The Windmill Club in Soi Diamond is undergoing some further building work to redesign the shape of the counter and they are putting in a soapy show table in the top left hand corner and also redesigning the DJ / cashier booth whilst also making an extra toilet, just for the girls.

As soon as that is completed a new JBL sound system will be installed and is said to the same spec as that which can be found in the new Shark A Gogo.The bar will remain open throughout the renovation.

Club Boesché has recently installed a large plasma TV screen in the upstairs section so that customers could watch the water antics of the girls frolicking about in the downstairs Jacuzzi.

There are serious plans afoot to further expand the gogo with a series of showpiece areas, including a VIP room.

Building work is set to commence very soon with the aim of being open by the next high season.

Champion A-GoGo returns to life after a short refit

If you hadn't been there for a while and went back, I would be very surprised if you realised that it had been closed for re-decoration. Perhaps they have repainted everything in the same matt black paint.

I think that the bar has been replaced though. The only very  obvious changes are that the dancing area in the middle has been made narrower and the TV showing porn isn't there any more.

Last night's Grand Opening of Secrets Nightclub and Bar was a huge success.

The upscale crowd fit in perfectly with what is perhaps the classiest bar on or off Walking Street. Simply based on observations, it appears that every consideration was made to ensure a top-notch nightspot.

A large venue, Secrets nevertheless is cozy--exuding an attitude of warmth and comfort in its appointments, furnishings, colors and décor. It is unsurpassed in its attention to style and detail. Making the club even more appealing was a score or more of pretty hostesses and an attractive and congenial staff (cleverly dubbed 'Secrets Service').

The bar itself is first-class and offers an exhaustive selection of food and drinks. Drink prices were comparable to other places on Walking Street, but considering the ambiance of the bar, they provide better value.

The music sound level was loud but not so overwhelming to preclude having conversations.

On Wednesday night the Chonburi Police Deputy Commissioner Major General Somdet accompanied by Pattaya police commander Colonel Somnuk decided a night out to hassle a few tourists was in order.

The aim was to run a spot check on the various places of entertainment on the street and make sure the girls working in the bars were not under-age. The uniformed officers paid a visit to a number of go-go bars where they satisfied themselves the ladies of the chrome pole were wearing sufficient clothing to prevent them succumbing to pneumonia.

The police also brought along their brand new state of the art portable drug scanning machine which they set up to test customers in those bars they thought might have people who would indulge in the ingesting of illegal substances.

As it happened, the senior police were able to walk away with a satisfied smile on their faces as not one under-age girl could be found and all the revelers they tested with their nifty machine returned negative results.

As the countdown to the opening of the much-hyped Secrets bar/hotel/restaurant ticks down to September 1st, the invective being hurled by its backers and critics on the Internet seems to escalate daily.

Ground Zero for the mud-slinging is on Pattaya Chat, a discussion board started by separatists from Pattaya Secrets, the discussion board operated by the Secrets hotel owners. The original affronts any of the involved individuals suffered during many nights of drinking and carousing in the real world are ancient history, but the bitterness they harbor gets rehashed daily in the virtual world.

In this cyberwar, the Chat mob is undoubtedly the most public in its hostility. The board’s founder and other like-minded admins regularly launch attack threads against Secrets, its backers and anyone who they suspect of collaborating with the enemy, using slanderous adjectives and per se libelous accusations. Anyone expressing views counter to the moderators’ is quickly labeled a troll, spy or worse.

Pattaya Secrets’ bosses are more discreet in their attacks, locking up diatribes and accusations on an ultra-exclusive Level 3 section of the board. Those found leaking info posted on Level 3 are banished to lower levels and threads critical of Chat are quickly locked down and the posters often banned and posts are regularly deleted.

A more-rational personal might wonder why anyone would get so worked up over a website. But the hardcore posters on both boards just can’t let it lie. Both sides report having received multiple death threats, but the obsession exhibited by Chatters is truly bewildering, since the site is (supposedly) just for fun, not profit. The Secrets gang might be forgiven for taking things more seriously, as their website is used to promote the new bar and hotel.

Words are a powerful weapon and one that gives power to too many of the religious fanatics, hate mongers, perverts, UFO believers, conspiracy theorists that run rampant on the Internet. Perhaps its time both sides in the Pattaya chat wars should keep that in mind.
 

The A Tale of Two Forums unsurprisingly created a few ripples and I for sure don't want to add to to the argument. I must of course allow those who would like to comment on what was written to have there say, but I think it wise not to add any further lines of argument.

I've just read your piece on the opening of Secrets bar and hotel and also the hostilities between the boards.

You mention: Pattaya Secrets’ bosses are more discreet in their attacks, locking up diatribes and accusations on an ultra-exclusive Level 3 section of the board.

I am a member of level three on the Secrets form and a can honestly tell you that there is no attacks by the management of any kind of the chat board or members, in fact any mention of chat is frowned upon by the management.

I think the lack of posts about chat has lead to the opinion that they must be "hidden elsewhere".
