The rather steep arched bridge in the entrance way has now been replaced with a slightly more drunk friendly construction. There is still a bridge but it is not so steep and now has a slope providing good grip.

The bar has also employed several gogo girls to supplement the coyote dancers and some are now dancing topless.There were a couple of very attractive girls dancing. So I have now reclassified the bar as a GoGo in the reviews section.

As a further response to initial luke warm reviews the bar has introduced a happy hour when bottled beers are 70 Baht compared with the usual 110 Baht.

It seems that the original intentions were to provide a low hassle, night club with entertainment particularly from coyote dancing. Given the very pretty gogo dancer, I would now be more than happy if she were to hassle me for a lady drink & barfine....

And if she did come across for a chat I would be even happier if the loud music could be turned down a couple of notches so I could be held enraptured by her sales patter....

But then it would become just another A-GoGo. (But the customer is always right and Pattaya customers do seem to like sexy fun A-GoGos)

Opened on 25th October

The small venue has been re-modelled with a side stage  replacing the table dancing. The bar has added a little comfortable bench seating. The bar certainly looks more attractive then the previous incarnation.

There were 4 girls dancing out of about a dozen in the bar. There is no messing about with superfluous clothing. Hopefully a good sign that it will live up to the naughty reputation of bygone incarnations.

Unfortunately the girls were way below average and only a couple were pretty. It is often difficult to get girls at start up, so as long as the bar gets the customers then the girls will surely follow. At least the bar is starting up with 45 baht draft beer so that should help.

Previously CEB was one of my favourites so I have my eye on many future visits when the girls improve. But for the moment the bar must think I am Mr Grumpy. I refused to entertain any of the oldies with chat or lady drinks. (If you buy the girl a lady drink, she will be at your side, before you can say no, on every subsequent visit...so unless you want this to be the case...don't buy)

Reminds me that I haven't yet seen any mentions of anyone taking responsibility for the deaths due to locked fire doors at Route 99

In May of 2004 a fire engulfed the entrance of Hollywood Discotheque located in South Pattaya. A problem with the exterior lighting was blamed for the fire which luckily resulted in no deaths or major injures.

On Monday Night it happened again as the entire entrance to the club was engulfed in flames. The fire occurred at around 8.30pm as staff were arriving for work. There were no customers inside the club and once again, no injuries or deaths were reported.

 Firefighters were quickly on scene and once again found it difficult to gain access to the fire because of the location of the club and the narrowness of the access roads. Eventually the fire was brought under control and the damage was accessed and the cause of the fire was put down to an electric short circuit. The cost of the damage is around 2 Million Baht.

Tuesday Morning saw construction workers on-site and clearing the fire debris. Hollywood Discotheque will be open for business as usual from Tuesday Night.

Maybe the alcohol advertising ban will hit beer bars hard. Their bottles and adverts on beer pumps etc will be viewable to passers by and that may soon be illegal.

Last Wednesday there was a documentary shown on Thai TV discussing prostitution in general and sex tourism in particular. It was stated that the Thai Government intend to abolish the use of beer bars as a means of accessing prostitutes. Interesting stuff. If you're a beer bar fan I wouldn't be concerned though as we hear about things like this all the time and seldom does anything ever eventuate.

Taboo Club, a coyote dancing bar opened Oct 19th 2006, previously the venue was Babe Watch A-GoGo.

The new entrance features rather forbidding castle doors in the Covent Garden lobby opposite Catz & Club Boesche. You then have to cross an imaginary moat via a hump back bridge. An impressive entry indeed and hopefully not too much of a test if you are old or pissed.

The bar is attractive with dancing on several raised circular stages. Comfortable seating is arranged around the walls and stools and tables are dotted around the floor. The bar itself is pretty plush too.

The girls looked average and were dressed in shorts and tops. It was a little too dark see them well. Strangely it seems that the dancers can't be barfined until 1am. There were a couple of hostesses that maybe could leave earlier.

The music was for dancing, but from a small sample I think someone has gone through selecting the tracks that are least offensive to oldies.

Bottled beer, predictably no draft, was 110 Baht. Spirits 120 Baht, Lady drinks 110 Baht and barfines are 600 Baht

I will have to leave further reviews to those that like the Coyote thing. I was in a hurry to get to see the prettier & sexier girls of Catz cavorting naked on my lap.

It was suggested on a forum that the bar has a fall back option as a GoGo. Maybe I will wait for then before making my next visit.

XXX A-GoGo has opened up in Soi 15, 50m off Walking Street and opposite What's Up.

This is an almost an exact replica of Baby Doll Next Door. It is similarly a small bar with topless dancing an a low central stage made up of circular podiums. The only seating is cheapo stools bought on the same bulk order as the bar next

The decor reminds me of the sort of things we used to do for student parties. Colourful hanging things from the ceiling.

Unfortunately it didn't get a fair crack of the whip because the sound system had seized up and one of the speakers was cracking up rather painfully to the ears.

Not everything is cheap though, the lack of a draft beer makes for a rather unjustifiably expensive beer. Bottled beer is 95 Baht.

There were about 15 girls in attendance and a couple were pretty. 5 were dancing at anyone time.

The mamasang asked one of the pretty girls to join me for a drink. She refused! Made me feel like shit so I left pronto.

One of the the ladies in our party started to get naughty in our "private room" at Piano Karaoke opposite Carrefour on Pattaya Klang.

There was a knock at the door of our "private room". And we were warned not to "do that". Turns out, after one of the ladies went to see what was up, they showed her the video monitors. They monitor the rooms with a hidden camera to put a stop to "doing that"...

The Taboo Club has now opened and is using the re-developed venue that was previously Babe Watch. However the entrance is now in the foyer shared by Catz & Club Boesche

I am told that the developers have done an excellent job and that Taboo Club looks very impressive inside.

I am also told the bar features both gogo dancing and coyotee dancing. Initial reports suggest that the girls are bikini clad and not showing. One shouldn't read too much into this as bar owners are sometimes sensitive to higher than usual interest from the authorities on opening nights.

Stickman reported that the new Taboo Club was due to open in Covent Garden on Sunday 15th October. The venue just off Walking Street on Soi 16 was previously occupied by Babe Watch A-GoGo.

The latest venture is reported to be a coyote dancing club, ie where the girls dance in disco wear. The dancing is geared up to entertain rather than just to show off the goods.

I was previously informed that the interior decoration has been done well and is very attractive.

Meanwhile I spotted that the Vibez dancing venue on Soi Marine Plaza, the soi cutting across from Covent Garden to Coyotees looks to have gone dark.

I also spotted a smart new beer bar opened on Walking Street. It is called Keeno's and is located just past the Covent Garden Complex at Soi 16.

Perhaps the only gogo that was located off my regular bar crawls has closed without me noticing.

Also maybe one of the few venues to disappear off the nightlife may altogether as there are suggestions that its fate is to be another 7/11.

Meanwhile the next gogos to appear in Pattaya will be XXX A-GoGo, something of a Siamese twin to the recently opened Baby Doll A-GoGo in Soi 15. And as if to go for a record for conjoined triplets, a development of the old Nui's bar seems on the verge of being added to the set.

From Club Boesché

Last Sunday was the revival of the once famous Dirty Dancing contest sponsored by Dollhouse.

I am pleased to report that it was a raving success and very well attended. There were a lot of beautiful dancers including our own Boesché girls. This week the contest will be at Boesché and all four bars will again be participating. Massive prize money (well massive by our standards) shall be offered which assures aggressive competition from the dancers. This should be a night of great fun for all.

It will be the first ever contest held at Club Boesché. This is appropriate since it is only a few weeks before our first anniversary. All are invited to attend this Sunday (15th October).

The is a new beer bar complex on Soi 3 at about a third of the way along the soi when traveling from the Beach to 2nd Road. It is more a less a next door neighbour to the short time bar at the Welkom Inn.

I am not sure that there is much passing trade and the units are opening up slowly. But there are now enough bars in operation to say that there is a new venue in town.

Review from Yellow Board

The newest Walking Street GoGo is called Baby Doll A-GoGo and is located on Soi 15 a few meters further in than Angelwitch, directly across the soi from What's Up and Fantasia.

The exterior is brightly lit, but beware the steps - they are irregular. Inside the place seemed very spartan. Barstools light weight and poorly padded. Kind of like a table dance place but instead of tables the girls dance on a series of round low platforms adorned with chrome poles, perhaps seven of them total scattered about the place.

I did manage to count on one hand the number of dancers allegedly dancing and only three more hanging around, lurking in the darker background. I would say only two of the whole bunch interested me in any way.

The old Market area just north of Soi 6 has been enclosed off as some of the development there seems to be progressing. The fence hoardings proclaims that it will be known as the Moonlight Complex and features advertising suggesting some high class venues.

The current surviving venues are the European Club and Model Club which are naughty show bars for Asian tour parties. Probably Asian tourists will be the target for the new restaurants & bars etc promised for the complex.

There was also talk of a new body massage parlour there but it is not clear whether this is traditional or soapy.

Ricky has taken up a new position as the friendly farang in residence at FLB on Walking Street.

Ricky has previously worked in Pattaya as manager/owner of Diamond A-GoGo, manager at Babewatch and recently as drinking partner at Catz. He is also well known for frequent mentions in dispatches on Stickman.

The Betty Boup Dance Club is the latest reincarnation of the Betty Boop short time bar. It is located near Manadarin and opposite Kiss Kool on the Beach Road end of Soi6 (Soi Yodsak)

This is a pleasantly presented bar that is operated like a small Walking Street GoGo rather than the half way Soi 6 gogos, Kiss Kool & Mandarin.

In particular the girls are dotted about the bar rather than waiting outside for pick up as per the soi 6 norm.

There were a dozen girls in the bar of which 4 were dancing a 4 song stint. It is all a bit prim and proper with all girls being clad in skirt, knickers and a bikini top. There were a couple of large ladies but a couple of attractive girls too.

Comfortable bench seating is the norm but there are stools surrounding the central stage. The music is for oldie farangs but the girls did enjoy a selection of Thai songs.

The girls were also being a bit prim when entertaining customers with not much sign of the customary soi 6 diddling. Of course short time rooms are convenient though.

I had a pleasant hour there and had the impression that I may have departed before the fun starts. Someone had just presented the girls with a bottle of Sang Som. The bar has the good policy of excusing girls dancing duty when being plied with lady drinks.

Prices were reasonable with draft beer at 55 Baht, bottled beer at 90-95, spirits around the 110 mark and lady drinks 100 Baht. The prices are clearly set out on a menu on each table.

The October 1st date for Taboo Club was wrong, there is still clearly work in progress.

The Taboo Club is scheduled for an October opening and is using the re-developed venue that was previously Babewatch. However the entrance is now in the foyer shared by Catz & Club Boesche

Today also sees the official opening of Paradise A-GoGo on Soi Buakhao.

October 1st is the scheduled opening date of a new gogo on Soi 6 (The old Betty Boup). I haven't checked if this date is still on though, there was still frantic work going on a week ago when I last passed but there still seemed a lot to do.

Meanwhile Images seems to have suffered form the taboo of lack of customers. The bar is closed and is being re-developed. A window has been knocked out, so I suspect that it will no longer be a gogo.

As always, never engage Thai people in an argument, especially Thai men in the vicinity of alcohol.

A shooting occurred at the Iw Karaoke Bar located in Soi Chayapoon off the Tepprasit Road. A total of 5 people, 1 man and 4 women were taken to the Pattaya Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The male victim, Khun Boonrueng is the owner of the bar was admitted in a critical condition and we understand that he is now in Intensive Care where he remains gravely ill. The other female victims received only minor injuries.

The shooter was arrested at the scene by Police. He was named as Khun Wana aged 50 and was taken to Pattaya Police Station along with the weapon allegedly used in the attack.

Also at the station was a staff member from the karaoke Bar who explained that the shooter was presented with a bill of 280 Baht as he was preparing to leave the bar. The suspect had only 220 Baht on him and informed the staff member that he would pay the extra 60 Baht next time. He was then approached by the bar owner who became angry, and according to the suspect, slapped his face.

At this point the suspect produced the gun and used up an entire magazine of bullets as he shot at everyone in the vicinity including the bar owner who is currently fighting for his life.

Khun Wana was charged with attempted murder which may be elevated to murder if the bar owner passes away, and a number of other firearms offences.
